Lockdown lose a stone! That tricky last stone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 11:38

Hello,
So I got back on the scales today and I was 9 stone 12.5.

The Dukan diet calculator says I can be 8 stone 10 by June 20.
Can this be true? Let us try it out!!

Based on my exhaustive and extensive diet 'research' from the last 27 out of 41 years of my life and weight ranging between 8 stone and 12.7 stone I am going to do the following:

  1. Daily 'change my mindset' reading in the morning
  2. Meal plan for the week but every morning commit to what I am going to eat for the day.
  3. Follow a low carb diet based on Dukan when my book arrives and Louise Parker recipes because I love her.
  4. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 16/8 days.
  5. Beachbody on demand - Morning meltdown 100 workouts.

I have lipoedema and I am not 100% sure my thyroid works.
I haven't got any lower than 9 stone 10 in the last two years.

I feel well and might as well use this lockdown time to focus on balancing the blood sugar and my insulin response! Weight loss should be the result.

Anyone else want to join in and lose a stone over the next couple of months?

Hi there, welcome @SleepingIsOverrated

@TeaRose29 sounds like a great day!!

I did well yesterday - I did everything I said and I didn't have any late night snacks!! I have woken up quite hungry but I am going to try not to eat until later today. It's my Dukan Attack day one.

So here are my commitments for today:

Motivation: Self compassion comes first. Learn from slips with determination and action. Break the pattern of dealing with slips with self loathing. Ask yourself what can I do? Then do -don't dwell.

Meals:
L: Oatbran gallette, quark and smoked salmon
D: Omelette and prawns
S. Greek yogurt with nutmeg and cinnamon and pinch of stevia
S. Fishsticks if needed

Movement: Walk with my children, morning meltdown workout 4

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Yesterday I had;
B - O/N oats with berries and banana
L - some weird recipe I tried, essentially griddled courgette, lettuce and onion with mozzarella, olives and basil in a lemon and olive oil dressing. It was okay, not sure I can get my head round cooked lettuce but the rest was nice. If I make it again, I will sub the lettuce for another vegetable. Mango and grapes
D - 2 biscuits and some chocolate and a rum and coke.
E - ran 5km

Not a good dinner. I’m struggling with the lockdown and having periods of extreme depression and last night was one of them.
My ankle is a bit sore today so just plan to ride and do some weights I think.

Dogwalks2 · 21/04/2020 12:15

Going to do my weigh in on Thursday as hopefully that will motivate me to keep up good habits at the weekend. I am fasting today so
L. Oatcake Parma ham and a tiny spread of goats cheese.
D. Paella
Snacks. Cold banana sliced

ImPeckish · 21/04/2020 17:58

Hello! Can I join?

I lost 5 stone some years ago, but never managed to lose the last 14lbs that needs to go. I feel determined to do it now. I exercise every day (running, yoga, HIIT, weights) and eat a healthy balanced diet. including gin, chocolate and home baked cakes

It's hard because I'm so active, my appetite is hearty greedy so I think my portions are holding me back. And I'm probably in denial that gin is to blame!!

ImPeckish · 21/04/2020 18:02

Forgot to add today's intake:

Breakfast: Banana, gluten free slice of toast with 1tbsp peanut butter
Lunch: tin of tuna, 50g cous cous, 2tbsps homemade (no tahini!) hummus, beetroot and cucumber
Dinner: prawn, pineapple and chickpea curry with wholegrain rice & black beans
Snacks: none
Exercise: 8k run, 20 min yoga, 20 min HIIT (with weights).

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 21/04/2020 19:33

Hello everyone! @ImPeckish - welcome!!

I think that we are all making steps in the right direction. The courgette/mozerella thing sounds nice and even though the cooked lettuce is new - at least you tried it!

It's really good to put our food because it gives ideas to each other and especially what to eat on a fasting day. Although I do want to eat all your dinners!

My day has been fine and I haven't been hungry and the food has been nice but this evening it's like I have developed 'kitchenitchyitis' and I just want to go in there. The only way to stay strong is to stay away!!

I haven't had a very good day. Food-wise I've been fine, but my head not so. I've been pretty resilient so far during the lockdown and have tried to find the positives, but I've been struggling today. I miss playing tennis which I normally do 4-5 times a week, seeing my/our friends, eating out at our lovely little cheap Italian or other local restaurants, going to Mrs Grumpy's (nickname for our local or more precisely, the landlady).

DH and I have just done the cryptic crossword and I'm going to have a couple of glasses of wine, and try to find something on the television.

Sorry to be so negative. Must Try Harder tomorrow!

Hope everyone had a good day. xx

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 22/04/2020 08:29

@TeaRose29 you feel how you feel. This is such difficult times and I definitely feel a range of emotions. x

ImPeckish · 22/04/2020 08:37

Weighed myself this morning, amazed I'm 3.5 lbs lighter since Saturday. It won't all be fat loss as it's only a few days but I feel really motivated, about to do yoga and HIIT :)

Breakfast was 30g of overnight cacao oats, (made with 170ml almond milk) sprinkle of chai seeds & banana.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 22/04/2020 08:38

Day five - Here are my commitments for the day.

Motivation: Q: What is the one behaviour that is sabotaging your health? What can you do about it?

Meals: (I hate the word 'meal' but I like the alliteration!)
B: Greek yogurt with a pinch stevia, cinnamon and nutmeg
L. Oatbran Gallette, quark and smoked salmon
D. Omelette with prawns
S. Fishsticks

Movement: Day 5 of morning meltdown - yoga ish

This is day two of Ducan attack but because its not a fast day (Tuesday and Thursday), I just had breakfast. You may notice the food today is the same as yesterday. It will be the same tomorrow. I made the gallettes and the omellete in advance so I wouldn't have to spend too much time in the kitchen over these three days.

I feel incredibly cold and have been sitting around with my winter jumper and a hot water bottle. Please may this work. Please may this work!

@ImPeckish - that is amazing!! Woo Woo!!

Quite inspired by this thread, as a few of you seem to be a similar weight to me, and looking for the same loss. I am 9 stone 13 and a half lb. I've lost 12 lb in the last 12 weeks, but most of that was in the first 8 weeks. I've probably more or less stayed the same for a month. This is miraculous given how much Easter chocolate I've eaten.

I would like to be under 9 stone, and then see how much more I can lose.

I am walking at least every other day, doing at least 4 miles.

My downfall is sugar. I am hoping to eat less on the whole, and fewer carbs. I was quite disciplied a couple of months ago and saw the results. I would absolutely love to come out of this lockdown able to fit into some of my nicer summer clothes.

Dogwalks2 · 22/04/2020 09:38

Morning everyone, feeling motivated today
Bit of a late start wfh so using that time to clean the house (sit on Mumsnet).
B. Boiled egg and butter
L. Smoked salmon and lettuce
D. Spinach curry
I’m not on any particular diet just eating healthy foods I like and avoiding wine.
Going out a run later today.
Have a good day and I will post my weigh in tomorrow.

TeaRose29 · 22/04/2020 10:55

Thanks everyone for your support. I do feel better today - weighed in a pound and a quarter lighter and I've also trimmed my fringe and didn't make toooo bad a job of it 😬😬. I'm 2 pounds off since last Wednesday and this is the lightest I've been since last September (went on holiday in October, put on weight and haven't been able to shift it).

MyOhMy - you are doing very well to combine fast days AND Dukan. I sort of did that two years ago and it was tough but it really worked. I also felt very cold, I think that's normal on Dukan. I think one of the reasons the diet works is because it is so restrictive and boring, and you don't really get hungry.

I'm currently doing my own modified version of Dukan (it sort of equates to a very strict and synless SP, for those of you familiar with Slimming World) with some very low calorie days thrown in.

I've got a dilemma tonight - the family want a take-away, not sure what sort. Do I go along with that and just have some, or do I tough it out and stick to my diet? I might compromise and just have a tiny bit of what they order.

Have a good day, everyone!

Ethiopianflower · 22/04/2020 11:50

Would you mind if I joined you - you all seem so committed and motivated - fair play to you!!! I love all your motivational questions. They’re really useful thanks. I have lost 18lbs in the last couple of months and would love to lose 1 more stone. I’m 5’11 and am at 11.3 I had joined unislim before the lockdown - a slimming group in Ireland 🇮🇪 that was really helping me but that’s been closed now for the past 5 weeks. Your motivation would really help me keep going. Good luck everyone ☘️

TeaRose29 · 22/04/2020 13:08

Welcome @Ethiopianflower, what a lovely name! What sort of diet does Unislim use?

Bearspears · 22/04/2020 15:31

Can I join please?

It's really interesting to read how you're all getting on and I'm hoping lockdown will be the help I need!

I'm 5' 5 and started the year at 11.7 stone. I weighed in yesterday at 10.2 and I'm pleased with my (slow) progress so far.

I'd like to get to 9.7 and reassess my goal weight. For me it works to have mini goals rather than an end figure which might feel unachievable.

So far I've been running and using MyFitnessPal. More recently I've been eating between 12-7pm only to help stop grazing at home. Any other hints and tips are gratefully received!

Bearspears · 22/04/2020 15:38

@tearose29 what's the takeaway your family are thinking of having? I usually find if it's Chinese or Indian there are lighter options.

TeaRose29 · 22/04/2020 16:59

Welcome @Bearspears and well done on your weight loss so far. That's not slow, that's incredible! Did you just set yourself a calorie limit each day, and if so what was it if you don't mind me asking - I'm 5'6 and currently 10.6 so very similar to you.

I agree that Chinese and Indian usually have lighter options, but I think they want pizza 😩😩. I have been super-good today 😇😇 and really only had yogurt, raw veggies and quark, so I might just have say one slice. I'm not actually a huge fan of pizza, so I don't want to squander a cheat meal!

Bearspears · 22/04/2020 17:36

Thank you @TeaRose29. I have a 1200 limit but I don't eat my exercise calories.

My family all love pizza too so it's always a challenge! We had it last week and I just had 2 small slices and cut up lots of cucumber, tomatoes etc to nibble alongside it.

Enjoy your evening.

Squashbanana125 · 22/04/2020 18:01

Joining please as need to do something !
5’5 height
Currently 10 stone 6 - maybe more as this was last weeks weigh in. 1st target 10 stone then would love to be 9’7 ish: gained about a stone since October

B- didn’t eat
L- boiled eggs, beans and bacon no fat
D- salmon fillets, salad and beetroot

Aim is to eat between 12-7pm
No much exercise at moment as hurt my knee running and don’t want to aggravate it.

TeaRose29 · 22/04/2020 18:19

Welcome Squash! Wow, we are all a very similar height and weight, that's great for helping each other.

Ethiopianflower · 22/04/2020 18:43

@tearose29
Unislim is quite similar to slimming world and weight watchers - advises to have 3 meals and 2 snacks a day - encouraging healthy eating. I find it great as I’m not hungry and has worked well for me so far.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 22/04/2020 19:11

Hello everyone - it's so good that you are all here!!!

What is coming through is definitely that we are motivated to do this!! With lots of you having great success in the run up to finding this thread.

Thanks @TeaRose29 for the info about being cold. I do feel much better now and am a normal temperature. Today's new symptom is definitely feeling a lot more tired than normal and a slight headache. I really hope a magical grove happens and I start to feel good. But I have determination and motivation!!!

See you tomorrow x
