Lockdown lose a stone! That tricky last stone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 11:38

Hello,
So I got back on the scales today and I was 9 stone 12.5.

The Dukan diet calculator says I can be 8 stone 10 by June 20.
Can this be true? Let us try it out!!

Based on my exhaustive and extensive diet 'research' from the last 27 out of 41 years of my life and weight ranging between 8 stone and 12.7 stone I am going to do the following:

  1. Daily 'change my mindset' reading in the morning
  2. Meal plan for the week but every morning commit to what I am going to eat for the day.
  3. Follow a low carb diet based on Dukan when my book arrives and Louise Parker recipes because I love her.
  4. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 16/8 days.
  5. Beachbody on demand - Morning meltdown 100 workouts.

I have lipoedema and I am not 100% sure my thyroid works.
I haven't got any lower than 9 stone 10 in the last two years.

I feel well and might as well use this lockdown time to focus on balancing the blood sugar and my insulin response! Weight loss should be the result.

Anyone else want to join in and lose a stone over the next couple of months?

10K is a very impressive amount to run. I have only done it twice and I think I came almost last in the two races I did!

Good morning! How are you all feeling today?

Here are my day seven commitments:

Motivation: Q. What is one way you could do something to feel uncomfortable today? (Eg. try skimmed milk in your coffee, try cooked lettuce!)

Meals:
B Oatbran porrdige with rhubarb
L Salad and tuna
D. Bolognases (can't spell it and even my autocorrect can't recognise it!) with courgetti
S. Cottage cheese
Fish sticks

Movement: Morning meltdown - strength training

So I made it through my three attack days - pure protein days (or pp) for short. Today starts where I alternate between pp days and protein and veg days (pv)

My breath was so bad it woke me up this morning at 5am so I had to swishswash with some mouthwash!! I am not going on the scales until tomorrow but it is clear that I look a lot less bloated. I am also glad because it feels like my body is changing which is what I want.

If you get a chance my new favourite thing is to play Macy Gray - There is Beauty In the World and dance in my kitchen - I highly recommend it!

Have a glorious and happy day!

@myohmywhatawonderfulday well done for getting passed those first few days! Your menu looks good for today.

My plan is 50 mins on turbo trainer - done
B- one serving protein shake and hard boiled egg
L- tuna salad
D - bbq lean meats with salad
S- apple and grapes

I'm feeling a little leaner but conscious I haven't exercised as much this week as I did last week.

Happy Friday!

Foreverlexicon · 24/04/2020 11:31

I’ve got a funny day as working a single night shift today.

I’ve purposely gotten up late and my planned meals come to 1500 calories between now and going to sleep tomorrow morning.

Plan to have;
B - banana, peanut butter and oat smoothie
L - chicken and broccoli with pine nuts. Pineapple
D - cheese and mushroom omelette, salad, slice garlic bread. Strawberries and blueberries as a snack
Meal at work - lentil soup
Breakfast when I get home - cereal

Won’t exercise apart from do the horse. Did shred yesterday so don’t want to do that today and it’s too warm to run.

Squashbanana125 · 24/04/2020 13:35

Morning all

Bear - well done that is an amazing loss

My - good morning and the sun is shining. Day 3 and feeling positive. Aim for today is another walk and drink more water

B- fast
L- scrambled egg, beans and bacon medallion
D chicken salad with bacon lardons
Snack fruit and a fibre one popcorn bar

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 24/04/2020 20:30

@yukka well done for getting your exercise in early today and your food looks like your macros are going to be spot on. Are you counting macros?

@Foreverlexicon your food looks lovely. I love the sound of a peanut butter, banana and oat smoothie. I hope work is going okay for you this evening.

@Squashbanana125 I hope your fast day went well. Did you go for a walk and drink more water?

See you all tomorrow for weigh in day!

Squashbanana125 · 24/04/2020 20:35

my how was your day? Hope it was positive

Yes managed to stick to plan. Decided on a different dinner and had burger in a bowl was delicious.

Went for a lovely 5k walk in the sunshine. Not so great on the water uptake again today. Hopefully tomorrow

Same as you I def feel less bloated.

Good luck for weigh in tomorrow.

yukka · 25/04/2020 07:26

Morning all... nice 8 hours sleep but crazy dreams, anyone else the same?!

I've weighed in and I've not budged, but I can still count 4lbs loss in 2 weeks in total.

My plan for the week ahead is to reduce my portion sizes a little, and I must stick to exercise plan, I know it makes a difference to my weight loss.

So (happily-ish) 10lbs 10.

I'm not counting macros - haven't heard of that I'll get googling.

Good luck for weigh ins today x

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 25/04/2020 08:20

Hello everyone.

I lost 3.5lbs!! So I am now 9 stone 9.
This is the lightest I have been in two years! And there has been a lot of trying in that time. I am really happy.

@yukka - I often find that at the end of any weight loss thing it usually averages out at between 0.5 and 1lb over time. 2 lbs over 2 weeks is brilliant.

OP posts:
myohmywhatawonderfulday · 25/04/2020 08:22

@Squashbanana125 I had a really lovely day yesterday. 5K in the sunshine - does it get much better than that!

OP posts:
myohmywhatawonderfulday · 25/04/2020 08:23

@yukka - no crazy dreams but I have noticed that my sleep is more disturbed.

OP posts:
myohmywhatawonderfulday · 25/04/2020 08:32

Day Eight Commitments

Motivation: Consider the what and the how of your plan including how you are going to reward/treat yourself along the way.

Meals
B: Greek yogurt with cinnamon, nutmeg and a pinch of stevia
L: Oat bran gallette with marmite, lean ham and cheese (a sprinkle)
D: Smoked Salmon with one egg/egg white scramble
S: Fish sticks
Cottage cheese

Movement: Morning Meltdown - fight cardio (30 mins)

I do look different to last week. There is a noticeable difference in my face. My DH said I looked 28 (I am 41) and although I don't think quite look 28 I can see what he means. I have also slathered on the fake tan so that has probably helped turning back 13 years in one week!!

Amazing @myohmywhatawonderfulday that's a brilliant start, well done! You're gonna nail this I can tell!

OhCobblers · 25/04/2020 09:44

Well done all on weight loss.

With all the exercise I'm doing (6 days a week) I'm still not shifting weight! I'm less than a 1000 calories a day which inc glasses of wine. I'm low carb - very much the Med diet. Where am I going wrong?!
4lbs in nearly 5 weeks is sooooo slow when I'm banking on 2lbs a week?

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 25/04/2020 10:48

Thanks everyone!

@OhCobblers - I don't think you are going wrong at all. 4lbs in nearly 5 weeks is about right, I reckon. Plus we all have to look at the trend over time and try not to get caught up in the detail, that can take us down a spiral that ultimately is not helpful.

This is not my first time around the block and my experience is - weight loss takes longer and is much harder than you really ever want it to be. And the only 'trick' is when you have found something that works is to keep going.

My first week weight loss is not the norm. I am happy about it buts its mostly bloat. The Dukan weight loss website said that from now on I will lose 2lbs a week and I hope they know something I don't, but previous experience tells me it goes in fits and bursts.

If you have found exercise and way of eating you enjoy that is really something. Keep going and if in another week nothing has changed maybe try something else like reducing your exercise and seeing if that helps?

Well done myohmywhatawonderfulday, 9st 9lbs is great!

Sorry I’ve been quiet, my kids are online learning (2 different schools) and I am swamped with zoom/moodle/teams, class schedules, homework etc. I don’t like computers so it’s been uphill. Haven’t managed time to exercise either. Next week should be better as we are getting used to it. My other problem has been getting food, we haven’t had any fresh stuff so it’s been a really carb heavy week. We had a grocery delivery yesterday so I can eat chicken, salad and lovely veg again. Weighed and I am exactly the same (9st 12). Relieved not to have gained to be honest.

Today’s plan: B White coffee
L Tomatoes and feta salad
D Chicken salad
5k on cross trainer

Have a great day everyone.

Bearspears · 25/04/2020 12:21

Well done @myohmywhatawonderfulday - that's a great loss!

yukka · 25/04/2020 13:46

@OhCobblers it's also true that the less you have to loose the harder it is and the longer it takes - stick with what your doing, your body will readjust and you'll start loosing again.

Deff don't reduce your calories, unless you want to introduce fast days, but 1000 a day is minimal really.

Don't loose faith!

Squashbanana125 · 25/04/2020 16:13

Well done my

hobbs sounds like a good plan. sts is ok, better than gain

Weighed in with a 2lb lost this morning. Now 10’3..

Happy with that and heading in the right direction. Would love to be anywhere around 9’7/9’9

Today’s plan
B- fast
L- 2 eggs, bacon no fat & beans
D- chicken salad
Snack - fibre one bar and some Greek yogurt with berry’s. I try and eat between 12-8pm

Also going for a walk in a while. Hopefully next week once my knee is heeled can try to run again

Keep going everyone!

TeaRose29 · 25/04/2020 16:31

Hello Everyone, I have just caught up with the thread. Sorry I have been AWOL, the last couple of days have been a bit stressful. This was because I am currently at the business end of an OU module which will get me onto a Masters degree. Due to the pandemic the OU has cancelled the year end dissertation and exam, and the module result will be determined another way. I won’t bore you with the details, but a lot of people are freaking out. I have absolutely nothing to worry about, but it’s been rather unsettling.

Anyway, I have decided to put all this to the back of my mind, as it is not something I have any control over. Food-wise I’ve been pretty good, but some chocolate and wine have been consumed, I must admit! I have managed to hang on to my 2lb loss from the previous week, but I’ve been stuck for the last three days. (I weigh myself every day, as this works for me).

We have a Zoom wine-tasting this evening, so I’m going to start afresh with Dukan from tomorrow. @myohmywhatawonderfulday, I am so pleased to hear that you’ve lost 3.5 pounds (and look 13 years younger!). It is the best diet I’ve ever found. There is a great thread online by Marshall Brain, who lost 52 pounds doing Dukan, and kept a daily diary. It’s well worth a read. xx

TeaRose29 · 25/04/2020 16:32

Also well done Squash!

Foreverlexicon · 26/04/2020 09:07

The night shift didn’t quite go to plan, I don’t know why I keep taking soup on nights as I won’t eat it! It wasn’t a disaster but not ideal, had a sandwich, crisps and a few biscuits instead.

However straight back on it yesterday and did the shred.

Today;
B - rice cakes with banana and peanut butter
L - chicken and broccoli with pine nuts, fruit salad
D - Thai green curry. Probably without rice as I have about 1.5 portions left (with lots of veg) so don’t think I need rice.
S - yoghurt

Will go for a run. Going to keep it short, my ankle is feeling better but I’m going to wait until after my ankle support arrives on Wednesday before I go longer again.

Claire5678 · 26/04/2020 09:21

Hi everyone, can I join? Got about 10lbs to a stone that I'd really like rid of! Be starting tomorrow as, lets be honest, who starts a diet on a Sunday 😬 Well done on the losses so far, motivating reading!

yukka · 26/04/2020 10:18

@Foreverlexicon night shifts must be so hard to be honest, you probably need something more substantial to keep you going than you do in the day?

I have caved to the carbs this morning - 2 weetabix and a slice of wholemeal toast (due to the gin I drank last night!) going out on the bike shortly rather than just turbo.

We skipped bbq yesterday so I had lamb steaks and salad so today is....

B weetabix and toast
L protein shake
D bbq meats and salad
A apple

No booze now till next Saturday and DH has decided to join in too - this will help!

Hi 👋 @Claire5678

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 26/04/2020 10:37

Hello @Claire5678

Hello everyone,

How are you all today.

I agree, I have never done a night shift but I imagine it takes a different level of fortitude in itself.

So nice to read all your posts and hear how you are getting on too. Thanks for the encouragement about yesterday. xx
