Lockdown lose a stone! That tricky last stone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 11:38

Hello,
So I got back on the scales today and I was 9 stone 12.5.

The Dukan diet calculator says I can be 8 stone 10 by June 20.
Can this be true? Let us try it out!!

Based on my exhaustive and extensive diet 'research' from the last 27 out of 41 years of my life and weight ranging between 8 stone and 12.7 stone I am going to do the following:

  1. Daily 'change my mindset' reading in the morning
  2. Meal plan for the week but every morning commit to what I am going to eat for the day.
  3. Follow a low carb diet based on Dukan when my book arrives and Louise Parker recipes because I love her.
  4. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 16/8 days.
  5. Beachbody on demand - Morning meltdown 100 workouts.

I have lipoedema and I am not 100% sure my thyroid works.
I haven't got any lower than 9 stone 10 in the last two years.

I feel well and might as well use this lockdown time to focus on balancing the blood sugar and my insulin response! Weight loss should be the result.

Anyone else want to join in and lose a stone over the next couple of months?

@modernfemininity it was a bit boring but works!!

Chicken thighs for grilling
Turkey steaks
Salmon
Leeks
Mushrooms
Kale
Cauliflower for roasting but also pouches of cauliflower rice

Eating this for at least 3 days should get me into ketosis!!!

I refuse to fail at the last hurdle Grin
If you come up with anything else more inspiring on your shopping list do let me know Wink

modernfemininity · 24/09/2020 15:56

Thank you for that - more inspiration!

We eat a fair bit of marrow and courgette, cut into circles and doused in garlic and thyme, and pan fried or oven baked. Or we stuff the veg with tomatoey mixes.

modernfemininity · 24/09/2020 15:57

Also any fish - often goes atop mixed veg or stir fry.

TeaRose29 · 26/09/2020 16:17

Hello everyone, it's good that we are talking again!

I've maintained for a few weeks at 10.3, which is OK for me but would like to lose another half stone if possible. I've had a couple of short staycations - a 3-day trip around Scotland and then a 4-day visit to see my best friend in the Cotswolds - and I just wanted to relax and enjoy myself, as these will no doubt be the last holidays of any description that I get until next year, 🤞🤞that a vaccine is found for this bastard virus. So I'm very pleased that I managed to maintain - not quite sure how I got away with it! 😬😬.

I've just ordered a HotBin composter, which will be the most fun I get this winter! (Well, I must fess up to having ordered a load of cosmetics and skincare from SpaceNK as well, while the £15 off offer is on 😬😬).

I think I might just stick to SW for a bit. Now it's getting cold I fancy some nice warming meals, and I can't face Dukaning at the moment. SW does work for me, if I do it properly. I'm also praying that they don't shut down the gym and tennis again. 🤞🤞

Good luck everyone, and please do continue to post. xx

Hello @myohmywhatawonderfulday
and @OhCobblers and @TeaRose29

How are you all getting on? And everyone else on this thread - are you going to join in the FUN of losing weight before or during the Half-term/ Before the next national lockdown/ Christmas/ food shortage and depression? Being slimmer and fitter will help us cope in these sad times.

Weight loss for me has slowed, but on the positive side I am still losing tiny little bits of blubber off my short carcass. My jeans fit better and my legs look longer.

I have to admit I have had more carbs, ...occasional toast and potatoes. The odd piece of left over pizza. Some chocolate. I am kidding myself that I can slow up now ‘because I deserve a treat because i have done soo well’ but then this is sabotaging my weight loss bigger wish! I have kept quite well to the 16:8 because I find it easy enough (ish) to not eat for 16 hours overnight. 8pm to 12noon. Some days I do eat at 11am. But I am more determined during half term to be more definitive- maybe I will do 7.30pm to 11.30am.

AND as it is the start of half term I am going to go LOW CARB again. I will not eat with the teenagers!! I will eat lots more veg, less fruit, NO BREAD and defo not have the home made delish waxy potato salad that is in the fridge!

I have lots of mushrooms in (growing my own too) and stir fry. I will cook it and store it in tubs.

Today or tomorrow I will plant up more windowsill micro veg (pea shoots/micro broccoli/cress/raddish). I ate my first successful crop and then thought it was a bit of a chore planting more and have been LAZY.

New resolve. I will CUT BACK ON TREATS and I will be less lazy and more focussed. I still need to get slimmer to be able to eat and drink at Christmas!

How is everyone in this thread? It is was a very very good thread and I would love to hear from you and learn from you. Anyone willing to start off again to lose some more with me before Christmas?

Tell me what you’ll be eating, and when. X

OhCobblers · 23/10/2020 09:47

@modernfemininity
Great to hear from you!!
I find myself in the same boat with the self sabotaging.
Just because I've done so well and feeling so much more confident generally, I'm "treating" myself when I really shouldn't.

Just the other day I was only 4lbs away from my target weight which would put me at my lightest in about 15 years!! So to celebrate that near achievement I went off piste!!

Like you though I'm back on it and very determined to get back on track and end of November is my target for that final loss.

I've realised that I have to stick to this way of eating and have very occasional treats - weekends only. My desire to stay slim and be as happy in myself as I am now (call me shallow!) is far stronger than my desire to eat roast potatoes or chocolate!

BUT if I don't keep the right supplies in the cupboards for ME then I derail and therein lies the problem. So I must train myself to shop properly every week. Turkey steaks are a fab quick lunch with mushrooms and broccoli!!

Would love to keep checking in to see how you're doing! Xx

TeaRose29 · 23/10/2020 18:14

Hi @modernfemininity and @OhCobblers, lovely to hear from you! My weight has been up and down due to a couple of short staycations, but am now at my lowest for 2 years. I’m doing a sort of Dukan / SW SP hybrid, and have lost 4 pounds this week, which is a first!! Only 4 pounds to go to target now! Am very motivated - want to find some sort of positive in these depressing times, and with no socialising it’s an ideal opportunity.

It would be great to get this thread buzzing again.......

modernfemininity · 24/10/2020 09:37

I need to lose the last 4lbs too. I have gone up 2lbs. I said the words “I am focussed” and then I had a bad Snacky Foody Eat Too Much three days. I was very tired and this week I happened to feel unsupported... Sad and left to my own devices with my own tired feelings I just chomped my way through all sorts of stuff. Not terrible stuff as it was mostly veg, but also some bread and some chocolate. I had two glasses of Wine last night too. Sounds even worse when I write it down. Half term has started - this makes it harder for me for the coming week. Weigh in is Monday. If I have a good weekend I can break even..

Now I feel disappointed in myself. I know carbs and snacking will make me hungrier and weight loss harder. It’s a viscous circle. I need the virtuous circle of eating well.

Well done @TeaRose29 with doing a very good week! It is encouraging to hear and thank you. You have not got far to go and it should be manageable by early November. It is encouraging to think - Yes, Lockdown means it’s a good time to shift the pounds.

@OhCobblers we are on the same page, except you need to take the CROWN, SASH and BOUQUET when you hit that target of being the lightest you’ve been in 15 years! You’re so close. You’re doing well. The last half stone is the hardest.

Let’s have a LEAN weekend together? I will have two baths as treats, erm and maybe do a project of cleaning an area so I feel good about myself. I will light a candle in the daytime to indulge in a bit of luxury. Thanks for your replies. It really helps. X

TeaRose29 · 24/10/2020 13:20

Modern, sorry to hear that you feel unsupported. I am sometimes told when dieting that I am being "obsessive" (eg. because I weigh and measure everything and log it in MFP) which really gets on my nerves. If you don't do it properly when you're dieting you won't lose weight, simple as that!

I had a planned night "off" yesterday, as we went to one of our favourite restaurants (and not sure if we will be able to do this much longer 🙁🙁). I didn't overdo it, but I did have what I fancied and rather too much wine 🤭🤭. I was 1.5 pounds up this morning, but I'm hoping that's just due to the carbs etc. Back on the straight and narrow today - I've had yogurt with oat bran and s/f jelly for brunch, and am making a seafood stew for dinner tonight. DH can have rice with his, and I might make celeriac mash.

I love having nice baths too, I had one almost every evening this week! And I'm planning some serious cleaning tomorrow - so we are both on the same page!

Have you listened to the Slimming World podcast? I thought it would be awful, but in fact it is really good - they tackle all sorts of subjects - and there are loads of episodes available.

Keep going, we can get there!

modernfemininity · 25/10/2020 09:56

Good morning @TeaRose29!
Thank you for your kind response. Lovely! I also had a meal out yesterday and had the fish. I still feel full this morning and a bit frustrated because it isn’t the weekend I had planned in my head, but my willpower has run for the hills and I have not done well.

I listen to podcasts and I am a great fan of radio and the spoken word. I had never considered a podcast for sw, but I will check it out seeings it it recommended! Thank you very much.

I looked up Louise Parker last night and will check out the Motivating Mike what’shisname that @myohmywhatawonderfulday mentioned in her early posts.

I read the excellent reviews for Louise Parker (didn’t buy the books) and I found the reviews quite a good read in themselves.

It’s still only Sunday morning and so I can STILL affect the weigh-in tomorrow! What I need to do is plan better, and stick to it! Hmm and hope for a better week next week.

OhCobblers · 27/11/2020 08:58

@TeaRose29 @modernfemininity

How is everyone? Doing well I hope?!

Sadly I'm not feeling the right motivation and I'm still a few lbs off target with Xmas having been my target time. But we're only 4 weeks away so the pressure is on!!!

Apart from not drink and eat the way I was before which aided to get weight loss I really need a boot up the a**e!! Who can give that to me ??!! Grin

modernfemininity · 27/11/2020 17:48

Hello and so nice to hear from you @OhCobblers. How has it been going? Have you checked out on dieting then? I bet you haven’t. What’s your loss since April?

I am .... drum roll...... at target!!!, oh yes, no less!

As I am very short and tiny with a dolly sized frame, and tiny feet and hands (not that this is noticeable to others) I am under 8stone and yet, as can be predicted I want to drop a little more.

My friend is on my case saying it is unhealthy to be so light (but I have blubber still). She is not as tiny in the skeleton as I am and doesn’t understand it is not the exact weight it is the tummy and thighs that don’t need the fat. I might start weighing in with her online, after I have had a morning cuppa. ;)

What’s happened to your keto? Are you eating the same portions as the family etc? Flowers It is easily done. I find daily weighing helps me and the 16:8 combined with the 5:2 (5:2 is harder) and eating some veggie meals. I also eat some yoghurt as a pud, I have cut down on fruit but eat heaps of veg, and drink Wine.

What’s your latest story? Smile

OhCobblers · 28/11/2020 17:22

@modernfemininity firstly WELL DONE!!! That is a brilliant result so chuffed for you!! Keep it up. You know in yourself what feels good to you about your own weight.

I have similar with well meaning friends saying not to lose more but I really need to hit my target which is currently 8lbs away so that I feel I can have the occasional blow out without feeling guilty and whatever i want at Xmas!! Wink that also keeps me at the top end of 9 st 8 ish which for 5"5 is good for me.

I think the problem is I'm bored with keto food which probably means I need to research more recipes. I'm really bored with eating what it took to lose the weight and some days I don't eat enough so start "hoovering" up the pantry!! Telling myself I'll start weighing food and being good "tomorrow "!

I'm so close considering the amount of weight I've already lost that I almost can't be bothered on the one hand but feeling really low about not hitting target on the other? 🤷‍♀️

modernfemininity · 28/11/2020 18:35

I do that.. snaffle extra bits and bobs when I have undereaten. It is ruinous to the plan, I am sorry to say.

I say to myself DELAY do not DENY, so if I want chocolate I tell myself I can ... but I can only have it the next morning!
One day I did - I had chocolate spread, spread on chocolate Swiss roll! Grin But most times I wake up, have a good weigh in and feel proud and so don’t have those snacks.

How about you make a nice spiced cauli dish? Or try my new thing - I bake a whole unpeeled swede! I trim the two ‘ends’ so it’s clean and I roast it. Then when I need a side, I chop into it and pan fry or warm up somehow and it is very filling.

I am also making soups but they are a flaf.

Squashbanana125 · 29/11/2020 11:38

I was active on this chat during summer time. I managed to go from nearly 11 stone in Apr to maintain about 9’9. I stayed 9’8/9 for probably most of July aug sep. I would say since beginning of Oct I’ve been slowly gaining each week. since Oct I have gone up to my current weight of 9’12 1/4
Yes no big drama but with Christmas coming and the lovely food and recipes I’m looking forward to baking I need to come back to posting and checking in.
Last time I was going 16:8 but not done that in months. I will be honest I’ve gained 4lbs but I’ve honestly been so free. Chocolate everyday, hot choc and whipped cream and the odd gin and tonic not watching calories at all. So in that sense I’m living freely but I just don’t want to keep heading up and up.

Target is to try and get back to 9’9 and maintain around there if possible
It’s only 3 1/2 pounds and I’m giving myself till Xmas. Slow and steady.
How is everyone else getting on?
I will probably weigh in on a wed or Thursday depending on work.
Just want to feel good about myself this Christmas.

Squashbanana125 · 30/11/2020 11:12

How’s everyone doing??

So I thought I would officially weigh in this morning so I know exactly where I am and I am currently 9’12 3/4
A slight increase from Thursday. I am determined to stick to this
Plan for day
B fast
L omlette with salad
D steak and broccoli and cooked tomatoes and mushrooms
Snack orange, strawberries, Greek yogurt

TeaRose29 · 02/12/2020 14:09

Hi Everyone!

@Squashbanana125 I am exactly the same weight as you! 9.12 3/4 Grin.

Very happy to be under 10st and back just below my SW target. Feel like it's been a really long hard slog, so am determined not to regain any weight over Christmas. I'd like to get down to 9.6.

I'm going to do Dry January and in fact I decided that I would pretty much cut out alcohol from 1st Dec, other than for Christmas and NY celebrations (such as they are Hmm).

Perhaps we need a new thread in January - there will be plenty of takers, I'm sure!

Squashbanana125 · 05/12/2020 09:43

Good to see you @TeaRose29

Sounds like a great idea about a new thread in the new year! Il deffo be in that.

Well the week didn’t go as planned started the week 9’12 something and weighed Friday and was 9’13 3/4

Being totally honest I’m finding it very hard. When I lost the weight in the summer. I wasn’t hungry and slowly the weight come off. Whereas now I wake up starving. The chocolates at work don’t help that I can’t resist. I can’t even seem to manage 1 day on plan.

I am not sure what to do. But carrying on like this it won’t be good come the new year

Dry jan sounds a good idea but I’m not big drinker. My issue is more bread, chocolate, binging.

Disappointed I’m nearly back up to 10 stone. As I worked so hard.

Going to try make better choices but food not an issue just in between

OhCobblers · 24/12/2020 20:56

Hello you lot!
Hope everyone is doing well and just enjoying all the lovely fizz and food and not worrying about the lbs for a few days.
I concentrated hard the last couple of weeks and have now hit 9st 10lbs.
The target was and still is 9st8 !!

I'm so pleased and intend to have 3 days of what I want before easing off for a few days and then NYE/NYD celebrations before getting back on it properly 2/1 for the home run!!

Maintaining it should be ok as now I know what works and also how uncomfortable I feel when eating the wrong foods. That general discomfort is not worth eating those few things for me!

Have a very merry Xmas xx

DorisDaisyMay · 24/12/2020 21:08

Hello everyone, I am actually myo when I am on the computer and Doris on my phone!!
I can’t believe I just noticed this thread on active and it’s so good to see your updates!!

Oh Cobblers, Squash and Tea Rose!!

I am going to enjoy the next few days and then I am going back on Dukan. I am 9 stone so have put on a few pounds but more or less, I am about the same. Want to lose those 4lbs before it goes back.

Anyway, Happy Christmas to you all x

DorisDaisyMay · 26/12/2020 16:48

Hello,

So Who can? Dukan? I can!

I am starting back on it tomorrow everyone!

LouHotel · 27/12/2020 00:10

Hello, I started weight loss on Jan 2nd 2020 and have gone from 12stone13 to 9stone12 but have hit a complete stall for that last two month and go up to 10st1 and then down again.

My goal is 9stone and I know I need to change up so planning a 60 day boost for the new year to at least get me halfway there. It's a lot of belly fat that is left as I do alot of running so do have muscle gain in my legs.

DorisDaisyMay · 27/12/2020 14:47

Hello LouHotel,

You have done so brilliantly. A stall and a plateau is so normal in the weight loss way, success comes to those who carry on even when it looks a bit bleak.

I started today with my intentional push. A 60 day boost sounds like a great goal. Just think where we will be by the end of Feb!

DorisDaisyMay · 28/12/2020 11:10

Day 2
Here we go, so my Dukan friendly shopping is arriving tomorrow evening. So today and tomorrow are going to be a bit more improvised.

B: Dukan pancake, spoonful of yogurt, stevia
L: Protein Shake
D: Salmon fillet in a chili miso soup
2 litres of water minimum
No exercise to help ease me into this attack
If I need a snack I am going to eat a boiled egg

Here's to winning against this tricky last stone!

DorisDaisyMay · 29/12/2020 10:32

Day 3
B: Fast
L: Dukan pancake plus tuna and jalapeño peppers
D: Tempeh in Nando’s sauce, miso soup - this is gross and I wouldn’t recommend it as a recipe but it works with what I have got until the Ocado shop comes
S: Protein Shake

Plus exercise- Beachbody 21 Day Fix extreme
Feeling good so far!
