Lockdown lose a stone! That tricky last stone!

Hello,
So I got back on the scales today and I was 9 stone 12.5.

The Dukan diet calculator says I can be 8 stone 10 by June 20.
Can this be true? Let us try it out!!

Based on my exhaustive and extensive diet 'research' from the last 27 out of 41 years of my life and weight ranging between 8 stone and 12.7 stone I am going to do the following:

  1. Daily 'change my mindset' reading in the morning
  2. Meal plan for the week but every morning commit to what I am going to eat for the day.
  3. Follow a low carb diet based on Dukan when my book arrives and Louise Parker recipes because I love her.
  4. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 16/8 days.
  5. Beachbody on demand - Morning meltdown 100 workouts.

I have lipoedema and I am not 100% sure my thyroid works.
I haven't got any lower than 9 stone 10 in the last two years.

I feel well and might as well use this lockdown time to focus on balancing the blood sugar and my insulin response! Weight loss should be the result.

Anyone else want to join in and lose a stone over the next couple of months?

I'll be with you ladies on 2/1/2021!!
I'm a few lbs up which is to be expected after the last few days, but will have it off again very soon. Once I reach Xmas Eve weight the target is in sight!! Xx

DorisDaisyMay · 30/12/2020 09:28

Excellent Oh Cobblers!! Woo Woo!

So Ocado came yesterday which I think is good timing on my part considering the snow that's forecast today.

Day 4 (already! Time goes so fast!)

B: Three spoons of fage 0% fat greek yogurt 1 spoon of Ricotta
L: Oatbran gallette and chicken
D: Chicken soup ( my family are getting a full chicken roast dinner - on a Wednesday!! - just so I can get cooked chicken!!
Snack: Biltong and/or protein shake
Exercise: 45 minute Hiit class online - done already
21 day fix Pilates

I am starting to feel hungry today - I woke up hungry.
But at the moment I feel more energised that I have a plan, I have done the prep and I just got to follow the plan.

DorisDaisyMay · 31/12/2020 09:38

Day 5
B: 0% Greek Yogurt and ricotta
L: Dukan bagel with chicken
D. Sea bass in miso soup

So yesterday I did have some .... asparagus with dinner. As I had done a roast and so instead of making a soup with my chicken I joined in-ish with the family. And I had a Hartleys 10 calorie jelly.

Exercise will be the 21 day fix whatever is day four because I am a day behind on that because I started Monday.
I am feeling hungry again!!

For anyone wanting to start Dukan here are some top tips:

  1. Make a shopping list: here is mine
Chicken- whole and fillets Sea bass Salmon fillet Tofu Tuna and jalapeño in a can x2 Miso soup M and S 3 for £10 - prawns, calamari and other prawns Spice mix for chicken Nando’s sauce

Oatbran
Fage 0% Greek yogurt
Ricotta
Oatly Barrista milk

Snacks:
Protein shake powder but I also get a few ready mades as a just in case I need to go out etc
Fish sticks
Biltong
Hartley jelly

Mostly I drink water - a lot of water but I drink the odd Diet Coke as a treat but not every day. I also have oatly barrister in a coffee every day.

  1. Make the Dukan pancakes/ bagels in advance for a few days at a time. These form the basis of my lunch sandwich.
  2. Cook chicken breasts in advance so there is always something quick you can grab. I usually put a spice mix on them to flavour them.
  3. During attack whatever I am having as the protein part goes into a soup, husband has it with veg and rice. When it’s not a pure protein day (pp) it’s easier as I have the protein with the veg but not the rice.
  4. Try to be routine like and find combinations of those foods you like. Smile

Happy New Year!!

B: oatbran porridge with yogurt
L: Chicken sausages and broccoli
D: Salmon and Kale

It’s the start of the Pure Protein/Cruise day alternating weeks. Yay for vegetables!!

DorisDaisyMay · 02/01/2021 09:45

Hello, so I actually side stepped and had a New Year celebration take away curry yesterday!

It was a pure protein day anyway so I will just stick to that.

I weighed in at 9 stone 4. I was 9 stone 1 before Christmas and have just done Dukan for a week so I was a bit disappointed- any how it is what it is. I will weigh in next Sat!

OhCobblers · 03/01/2021 18:08

Hey @DorisDaisyMay happy new year too!

I'm starting tomorrow as DH and I agreed to do 28 days of no drinking from tomorrow!!

I've made a shopping list for tomorrow but will take some ideas off yours too! I do eat a lot of turkey steaks, chicken and salmon with tons of green veg. I'm going to eat that until Friday and then weigh in.

I was 9'10 on Xmas eve and 10'3 today Shock but I know I can flush a few lbs away drinking water and kickstarting ketosis!!

DorisDaisyMay · 03/01/2021 18:35

@Ohcobblers - Tomorrow is Brilliant!! Helpful that your husband is getting involved with dry Jan.
We can do this!!

DorisDaisyMay · 08/01/2021 20:35

I am not look forward to tomorrow’s weigh in. I have been spot on with it but I feel inflamed.
Literally I feel like nothing has happened to me...this is how I have felt so many times before. It’s why I was so surprised when the Dukan worked for me in March/April.
I’ll keep you posted!

DorisDaisyMay · 09/01/2021 08:30

Hello everyone,

So I weighed 9 stone 5 3/4 which is up 1 3/4lbs. I would say based on what I was eating this would be impossible but because of how I feel in my body I know it is not. I feel the bloat in my boobs and my belly.

I don’t know what to do really. After years of diet disappointments Dukan really helped me and this time around my body is ‘saying no’!!

DorisDaisyMay · 10/01/2021 11:49

So I have done some different things since yesterday. I bought Marianne Williams book a ‘Course in weight loss’.
I have already found the first two lessons/activities very illuminating.
So I am going to that everyday for 21 days I think it is.

Secondly I have just joined RebelFit 60 day mission which starts in a week. I liked it because it focuses on acceptance as an impulse for change rather than (and these are my words not their marketing) ‘violent deprivation and exhaustion’ which is the path I have followed so many times before.

DorisDaisyMay · 12/01/2021 08:26

Hello,
So in Marriane’s book I am on day four and for a few days I have had to write a letter to my body and then a response. Genuinely it’s been really illuminating!

@DorisDaisyMay how are you? Have you reached your target? I'm still struggling to get to mine. The last 7lbs are very up and down!
Hope you're well?!

Ilovelove · 01/04/2021 08:15

Hello @OhCobblers!! I am really well. I am still going! I finished Couch to 5K last week, I have been exercising daily and watching my food carefully.

I am the fittest I have been for years so I feel really well! No joint pain, no inflammation, feel zinging really!!

(I haven’t been able to get lower than 9 stone for ages though).

So good to hear from you!!

OhCobblers · 01/04/2021 08:19

That is so good to hear!!! 9st such a good weight though! I know that my weight loss depends on what I'm eating primarily but also I have been slack with the exercise. One run a week doesn't quite cut it! I need to refocus on my diet, exercise 3 times a week minimum and ditch the wine temporarily!!
See! I know what to do, just got to put it into action 🏃‍♀️
How do you keep motivating yourself to keep at it?

Ilovelove · 01/04/2021 08:19

Oh I named changed!

Ilovelove · 01/04/2021 09:11

Well, I don’t know.. I definitely need a plan. I started the 60 day rebel fit thing but it was just a lot of moany people and a lot of money for a pdf of workouts with triggering names and so I sacked that off quick.

I did need something to focus me and I just found the was ‘Shany and Julius Happy Healthy Mum’ 8 week programme. It cost £30. It was just what I was looking for - a Dukan-ish diet, Facebook group and then they released the eight week exercise programme week by week in an app. The Facebook group is really positive - full of people who are getting on with it!

So the programme had daily exercise that were really easy to do, short workouts , and then they progressed. So I added couch to 5k in as well and did that two/three times a week. It was easy and simple enough to follow that I found myself at week 3 feeling so good and then I didn’t want to stop because the endorphins were flowing and it took on it’s own momentum.

I finished it last week and have gone straight into 75 days hard - which is £5 app where I have to do five/six things a day - like drink water, exercise and read 10 pages of a book - and tick them off on the app. I think I love a tick sheet!!

Finally, I have signed up to Six Pack Reveloution starting in May.

So I have that in my head and I want to be fit when I start that. Which is like the ‘Happy Mum programme’ with a diet and exercise plan but you get a live coach and an accountability WhatsApp group with people doing the challenge. That cost £120 and is a 75 day commitment.

I do like exercise and definitely like the endorphins!! But I did notice I only started to get the benefits when I was consistent and I actually became consistent when I dropped my expectations down and went for shorter workouts but consistently.
