Hello my lovely losers and welcome to the April edition of lose 7lbs/3kg per month!

All are welcome regardless of how much you want to lose or what method you are following.

All I ask for is the amazing support and positivity I see every month from this absolutely amazing little corner of mumsnet.

Share your good days and your down days. Chat is not limited to just dieting and food. You regulars have kept me going this last few weeks!!

Anyway, enough mushy stuff! See you all tomorrow for start of the month weigh in!!!

Much love and stay safe! ❤️❤️

Cross post @Ecci let's hope we get into the 12s together. I really can't wait to not be obese but I'm short so I've got to get to 11st9 before I'm 'only' overweight. Excited for you!

MotherOfDragonite · 01/04/2020 09:31

Good morning everyone! Rather amazingly, I have lost the weight I put on last week and am back to my previous lower weight. I haven't been sticking religiously to the WW points (which I think is actually what I need to do in order to get fully back in control) but I have been largely tracking but also allowing myself to have some unpointed treats with the kids outside that -- eg baking cookies, making pancakes.

March was good! I lost 5lb in total. It would have been more than 7lb if I hadn't had the blip last week, but I feel positive about it -- 5lb gone is 5lb gone! I'm also going to take my measurements later today.

Finally brave enough to post my actual weight. It still scares me a bit!

Starting weight: 17 st 8.5 lb
Today's weight: 16 st 4.5 lb
Target for April: 15 st 11.5 lb
Lost so far: 18 lb
Still to lose: 54.5 lb

Thank you all so very much for your support and care. It's been helping me so much when it comes to staying motivated and keeping on keeping on. Onwards!

Hi, I’m a newbie. I’ve been trying on my own to loose but would like to join now.
I’ve lost half a stone since January and am now weighing at 14.11.
Had bad few months with stressful events going on in family so really miffed I put some of the weight I’d lost back on.
Really trying. Now have decided to not have too many “rules” for myself when it comes to eating what/when/where.

I’m definitely an emotional eater.
I am aiming for half stone targets so first target 14.7.
Doing it for health reasons(and really want to fit in size 12-14) clothes and generally feel better about myself. Have become a 50+ frump in my opinion and really don’t want to. I have a disabled DC, so also doing it for him so I can be around for him in good health.

My rules are porridge for breakfast, watch what I eat throughout day and only have crisps, cake and chocolate in small amounts at the weekend. Probably sounds mad but I will stick to something more realistic than if I’m too strict. I can and know I will change as I go on but for know those are my rules so that I can get back on track.

I really don’t want 2020 to be another year of excuses as to why I’ve not got healthier. I am missing better dog walks as my exercise at the moment but have been doing some sit-ups and stretches at home. I’m as flexible as a plank of wood presently.

All round I want to get healthier and make it a year to change, even with everything that’s going on at present.

I’ve been reading through the thread and some good ideas and advice.

Tryingtwo · 01/04/2020 09:37

Good morning all - old, new and returners. Thank you for the new thread cricketmum84 I'm another one who finds it really helpful and supportive.
My stats:
Start weight (18.9.19) - 16st 10lbs/234lbs
Loss in 6 months (18.3.20) - 4st 3.2 lbs
Target for 18.9.20 - lose 2st 1.6lbs - 10st 5.2lbs
1st March - 12st 10.4lbs/178.4lbs
1st April - 12st 4lbs/172lbs
Target for April - 5lbs to 11st 13lbs!
2 mini targets - 12st 3lbs which will put me into the overweight category and 12st 1lb which will bring me into the 160's.
In January I set a goal to loose 1lb per week, with target dates/weights of 1st April/13st 2lbs, 1st July/12st 3lbs, 30th Sept/11st 4lbs and 30th Dec 10st 5lbs. Happy to have beaten April's target!

Quick exercise check in!

So far dds and I have done a dance dvd and some Joe Wickes - we are at 2,500 steps!

Plan is to do the following to get to 10k steps by the end of the day:

  • another dance dvd (this is about 2,000 steps)
  • a walk (about 2,000 steps)
  • probably will do around 750 incidentally just making lunch tidying etc
  • then I will need another 2.5k steps which I plan to do once dds in bed when on phone to dm and dbro walking and jogging on the spot. Luckily they don’t mind me heavy breathing Grin

Loving reading everyone’s losses! Star

@MotherOfDragonite yay that you lost - you are doing amazing. Can’t believe what you’ve already lost!

@Tryingtwo that is an awesome loss - really inspiring

@GetTheStartyParted I’m so impressed by your stats - just fantastic. Your freebies sound delicious I have to say

@longroute11 that sounds like a great approach! Being on here has really helped me and dp who likes being almost part of it too

GetTheStartyParted · 01/04/2020 09:46

@Tryingtwo you've almost reached Julys target, you're flying!

Well done @MotherOfDragonite great month and great total. I feel the same when I post my stats, it scares me so that's why I do it Grin

GetTheStartyParted · 01/04/2020 09:49

Thanks @Onceuponatimethen
Your exercise plan sounds great and exhausting I am missing swimming, I had got into a good routine with it.

Work had become so busy that I hadn't needed any extra exercise but this week is quieter so I might have to do something.

Onceuponatimethen · 01/04/2020 09:58

@GetTheStartyParted honestly I’m very unfit!! If it gets too hard I have some water and a pause. Any bits my body can’t take like jumps etc I just don’t do! It’s a good job no one is watching me Blush Grin but it’s getting the steps up!

longroute11 · 01/04/2020 10:01

Thanks,@onceaponatimethen. I’m feeling positive.

Very impressive losses above and wow @Tryingtwo! It’s very inspiring as I have such a lot to lose for me. Bonkers I know but I really want to get into unhealthy range for me and out of obese. So cross with myself for putting on so much but part of this is to be kinder to myself too.

Onesmallstep67 · 01/04/2020 10:30

Marking my place. Will post properly later.
Some amazing weight loss stories. You should all be super proud StarStarStar

cricketmum84 · 01/04/2020 12:25

I think I'm going to give the ww purple plan a go for April and see if there is any change. It means I will have to eat more free foods as daily points are really low. And that means I will need to reduce wine, chocolate and crisp consumption!

Chopped up lots of pineapple today to graze on, hopefully keep me out the fridge

FraserBear · 01/04/2020 14:10

Hello!
Current weight: 75.4kg
Loss for March: 2.1kg
Target for 1st May: 72.5kg

Do not too bad given the circumstances! Hopefully keep it up.
Well done to everyone for losses Smile

Ecci · 01/04/2020 15:08

@GetTheStartyParted Yes, it would be great if we both get to the 12s this month, fingers crossed. I'm 5 feet 5 ins, always thought i was 5 feet 6 ins but got measured in hospital recently and then was horrified how that inch affected my BMI.

GetTheStartyParted · 01/04/2020 15:58

@Ecci I can imagine Grin

I'm 5ft2. I need to be 11st10 to be overweight and 9st9 to be healthy. When I last weighed 10 stone i was a size 10 so I will be a skinny minnie at under that but I am determined to reach a healthy weight eventually.

ModernMilli · 01/04/2020 16:32

Love reading peoples success stories. Although I do 16:8 fasting the rest of the time I do mindful eating (intuitive eating) as diets dont work for me. I exercise every day so will be going by my clothes but will check the scales from time to time.

Ecci · 01/04/2020 16:59

@GetTheStartyParted I haven't even worked out what i need to weigh to have a healthy BMI. When I started it felt impossible that I would even get to overweight. I began losing weight in August 2019 and my plan was to lose 52lbs in a year, and I'm on track to do that. Then I'll set a new target. That was before I found this group, although I don't usually manage 7lbs in a month, it tends to be 4 or 5. I think being a skinny minnie is good. I don't know how old you are, I'm getting on a bit and my DH keeps saying that you don't see many fat old people but lots of thin ones, and I know he's right, so I'm hoping to be a skinny minnie too.

cricketmum84 · 01/04/2020 17:03

@GetTheStartyParted waiting for your rainbow pics. My DD made this today... gave me a little cry!

Also anyone looking for a good workout / oti mabuse from strictly does a half hour dance class live on YouTube at 11.30. We had SO much fun doing it today!!!

Aww that is so sweet. Lucky postman. We thank our postie and delivery men profusely. They are heros at the moment along with all the food delivery people and the food store workers. Brave people.

ModernMilli · 01/04/2020 18:08

Ecci you are doing so well. Im over 50 but do not want to lose too much or to quickly as it can make the face sag and look drawn I believe. I do face exercises which i find helps to keep muscles in face toned.

beforeihit30 · 01/04/2020 18:11

What a sweetheart @cricketmum84!

I did ‘proper’ homeschooling today. I think it went okay. I’ve decided to make some biscuits and will have one with a cup of tea as I have clearly earned it Grin

Still haven’t done any exercise at home and with the 12 weeks isolation (1 week down!) will definitely need to make up for lost activity levels. Slowly edging towards PE with Joe Wicks... it must be done... the DCs need it, they’re normally so active I need to help them burn energy!

GetTheStartyParted · 01/04/2020 18:12

@Ecci you're doing brilliantly and it really does feel out of reach when you first start out but I now feel like I will get there. Though I know it will take a while.

I'm mid thirties and have wasted too many years, being reluctant to join in with things due to my weight Sad

@cricketmum84 DS was a bit of a live wire when I got home so we didn't do rainbow pictures today, he had no concentration span! Hopefully tomorrow. I love your DD's. So thoughtful and kind.

Onceuponatimethen · 01/04/2020 19:03

@cricketmum84 what a gorgeous message from your dd - really made me smile. You must be very proud of her
