Hello my lovely losers and welcome to the April edition of lose 7lbs/3kg per month!

Previous thread here :) Lose 7lbs/3kg a month - The March Thread http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3835693-lose-7lbs-3kg-a-month-the-march-thread

All are welcome regardless of how much you want to lose or what method you are following.

All I ask for is the amazing support and positivity I see every month from this absolutely amazing little corner of mumsnet.

Obviously things are going to be a bit weird this month. If your goal is just to maintain then that's absolutely fine. Stick with us, share your plans, recipes, hopes and achievements. Share your good days and your down days. Chat is not limited to just dieting and food. You regulars have kept me going this last few weeks!!

Anyway, enough mushy stuff! See you all tomorrow for start of the month weigh in!!!

Much love and stay safe! ❤️❤️

Oh, just realised that could read as though I lost 4 inches from my stomach. I didn't! I lost 4 inches across my chest, waist and hips.

recklessgran · 29/04/2020 17:33

Evening all. I was AWOL yesterday - DD1's 43rd birthday. Oh dear, toast and marmite for lunch, toad in the hole, roast potatoes and veg for dinner, TWO slices of birthday cake and God help me, some sweets as well. Just why FGS! I've given myself a talking to. I'll be lucky to record a 3lb loss for April when I weigh in the morning. Really must do better in May.
Welcome to @MoreHippoThanPenguin, with regard to evening snacks I allow myself half a dozen pecan nuts or a pot of sugar free jelly or 2 squares of dark chocolate - sometimes all 3 if I'm having one of those days where I need to snack. Also welcome to @WhatALump you have lost an amazing amount already and I really hope you love it here with us. I am about as active as a slug myself - combination of laziness, disinclination and having an extremely interesting research job that keeps me tied to my desk morning, noon and night.I think I'm living proof that you can still lose weight without moving even though I know it's not ideal. @JessJonesJumps and @MotherOfDragonite I'm going to be very happy with my 3lbs [if I manage it] I'm thinking that a loss or even a maintain is a miracle at the moment. At least we're not on an upward trajectory!
@CricketMum84 I hope you managed to talk to a doc - perhaps you can get some antivirals? DH got shingles in the middle of chemo and they helped enormously. Really hope you're O.K.
KOKO everyone.

cricketmum84 · 29/04/2020 17:44

Couldn't get to speak to a GP today so have to call back in the morning :( had to take cocodamol for the pain which I know always makes me constipated so fully expecting to be up a pound tomorrow.

Aww, get well soon @cricketmum84 Flowers

Not much going on here, tired from work. Won't be able to do the end of month weigh in tomorrow morning as I leave home at 2.30am for work, so will update on Friday instead. Sounds like most are doing well. Even those having a little blip are doing well overall.

Well done everyone, it's a challenge right now for sure.

@recklessgran birthdays have to be celebrated Smile hope you all enjoyed the day.

Today's food was

B: Strawberries and cream, plus a keto biscuit bar (so hungry after work)
L: Asparagus with cheese
D: Chicken thigh with spicy, egg fried cauliflower rice and mushrooms - delicious!

Oh and made a salted caramel keto milkshake, that was nice too. Still within my macros but feel like I've eaten a lot today!

MoreHippoThanPenguin · 29/04/2020 21:23

Evening everyone.

Cricketmum, how awful, hope you get gold of the GP tomorrow.

Thank you all SO much for the snack recommendations!! I have added nuts, low calorie pop chips, carrot, cucumber, yoghurt, dark chocolate and dark bread to the Tesco order we by some miracle have tomorrow morning!

Today has gone well I think! I have managed 18,000 steps in total (my walk and the walk with the children). Only one breakfast toast. No snacking except some raw cauliflower. I had my courgette and chilli lunch (big portion Blush), pork with veggies and a bit of crackling for dinner, a G&T before dinner and am currently nursing a glass of wine. I will still have my evening snack later, but am now really motivating to go for some natural yoghurt with banana and seeds instead of chocolate, cheese and biscuits. This thread is so helpful!!

Ploughingthrough · 30/04/2020 00:52

Morning all from Singapore. I jumped on the scales for the last day of April anyway and as predicted finishing the month at 9st 10. MotherofDragonite* thank you - my target weight was actually 10 stone when I first started this but I would like to keep going to 9 st 7 if I can so 3 more pounds. Trouble is I still feel quite wobbly and flabby so really I need to concentrate on toning and strengthening. In my fantasy land I would be 9 stone but I don't need to be and I'm not sure it's sustainable.

Cricketmum84 urgh I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. I had shingles a few years ago and it was pretty horrible so I've everything crossed you don't have it. I had acupuncture which helped but I don't suppose that will count as an essential service at the moment. Wishing you well.

MoreHippoThanPenguin 18,000 steps is amazing well done! hope you managed to have your yoghurt :-)

JontyDoggle37 · 30/04/2020 07:19

@JessJonesJumps great inch loss! 👍
@MoreHippoThanPenguin well done on the steps and the snack planning!
@cricketmum84 hope you can get some medicine today to help you
Day 4 and yesterday’s mini gain has gone so back down to 12st 7. Total loss 0.25lbs!
Been out for a run and increased my distance slightly so managed just over 2 miles today - everything hurt though after yesterday’s mammoth cross trainer and weights session. DH wants to order in Chinese tonight, so I’m going for Kung Po chicken but no rice and I’ll make some carrot ribbons to have with it instead (would normally do courgette ribbons on cauliflower rice, but haven’t got either of those and can’t pop to the shop, so carrots it is!)
Have a good day all!

cricketmum84 · 30/04/2020 09:27

Had a very modern video call with the GP. She also suspects shingles but no treatment except to wait it out. Some of the rash looks a bit infected (yuk sorry) so I have a weeks antibiotics which should calm some of the pain and inflammation.

Plan for today is fruit for lunch. Got to use up my melon that's in the fridge.

Ended up with takeaway last night as we spent ages building our new dining table and disassembling the old one. So having the chilli tonight that we planned for last night.

I'll get the May thread set up later today :)

MoreHippoThanPenguin · 30/04/2020 09:37

Oh cricketmum, so sorry to hear about the infected rash. How horrid! So happy you got hold of the GP and antibiotics though.

I had only my planned snack last night (Natural yoghurt, piece of banana and two pecan nuts). I am stupidly proud of myself Blush. For the first time I am thing that I may be able to do this.

Only 10,669 steps this morning, but Tesco came at just after 6am, so I set out later. Hoping to make up some when I go out with the DCs later.

Today’s plan
B: one piece toast with gherkins, cheese and plum tomatoes. I substituted the normal bread for rye bread (finally back in stock), but couldn’t face the low fat cheese I ordered. I need to like my food Blush.

L (plan): Boiled courgette with tomatoes and 1-2 poached eggs.

D: (plan) small portion of homemade lefter pie of yesterday’s pork with lots of vegetables on the side.

Day snack: (plan) fruit
Evening snack: (plan) same as last night, so tasty!!

April update

Start weight jan 2020 - 86kg
Start weight April 76kg
Current weight 73kg
Loss for April 3kg
Total loss - 13kg

Aiming for 3kg in May which would take me to my main initial target of 70kg (although planning to get to mid 60s overall)

JessJonesJumps · 30/04/2020 09:58

Slightly down today but still not back to the levels of last week Sad Hopefully May will be a bit better.

cricket that sounds horrible. Poor you! I hope the antibiotics kick in quickly. Flowers

Jollyholibobs · 30/04/2020 11:09

Argh slightly up again today but 2.2lbs down in the week. Trying to have a particularly low cal day so I can start May in a positive.

Have just found myself in the kitchen and came out with small apple instead of chocolate digestive. Not much difference in calories but I won’t be tempted to eat another 6 apples. I hope.

Tryingtwo · 30/04/2020 11:20

Good morning all, I'm glad you got to speak to a doctor cricketmum84 and I hope the antibiotics kick in and you feel better soon.
0.4lbs down today so that is 5.4lbs for the month. I need to reduce my daily cals slightly so I'll think about that and my May target ready for the new thread.

cricketmum84 · 30/04/2020 18:17

May thread is here :)

Evening all. Finishing the month on 12st 6lbs. That's a measly 2lb loss for April. I'm not surprised as I have been truly awful this last week. It's a fresh start tomorrow and I intend to make a netter effort in May. See y'all over the page in the morning!

MotherOfDragonite · 01/05/2020 08:58

Good morning everyone!

I hope you start feeling better soon @cricketmum84, shingles is horrible from what I've heard.

Had a really terrible night's sleep yesterday (like, less than two hours of sleep) and ate way too much toast and toppings yesterday. Consequently I'm up half a pound this morning. I also need to start measuring my portions properly -- I do this when it's my turn to cook, but when it's my mother's turn to cook, although she cooks very healthy stuff, she tends to just dish out the food and that is no good for me in terms of keeping on top of my carb intake. Also need to drink more water.

B: boiled egg on toast with Tabasco sauce (myyyy preciousss)
L: vegetable soup
D: sweet potato with salad and bean chili?

MotherOfDragonite · 01/05/2020 09:03

Oops, it's May already!

So, to wrap up April....

I started the month at 16 st 4.5 lb and I ended it at 15 st 13 -- a loss of 5.5 lb, a bit short of my 7 lb target but still on the right track!

Thank you, lovely losers, for being your usual supportive and encouraging selves! Here's to a great May!

GetTheStartyParted · 01/05/2020 09:09

@MotherOfDragonite I did my end of April update on the May thread by accident Grin doing well between us aren't we!

Well done on your 5.5lb loss Star you must be happy, ending the month in the 15s too, fab.

Ecci · 01/05/2020 13:43
