Hello my lovely losers and welcome to the April edition of lose 7lbs/3kg per month!

All are welcome regardless of how much you want to lose or what method you are following.

All I ask for is the amazing support and positivity I see every month from this absolutely amazing little corner of mumsnet.

Share your good days and your down days. Chat is not limited to just dieting and food. You regulars have kept me going this last few weeks!!

Anyway, enough mushy stuff! See you all tomorrow for start of the month weigh in!!!

Much love and stay safe! ❤️❤️

@recklessgran and @cricketmum84 great losses, well done!

I've lost 1lb this week, finally into the 12's, woohoo!

@recklessgran I am still working 3 days a week and studying full time so aside from trying to fit in helping DS with his schooling, my time is organised for me. I wish it came natural to me, a lot of the house work is on an ad hoc basis these days. So long as everyone is fed and has clean clothes, the rest gets done as and when.

Hope you are all doing alright, I know some of my family are struggling at the moment. Their lives have changed a lot.

Today's plan
Lunch: cheese, ham and celery
Dinner: Steak and mushrooms

JessJonesJumps · 20/04/2020 11:04

Well done on the losses everyone!
I seem to have put on 2lbs over the weekend 🙈 I'm hoping it's a blip. I did a yoga workout this morning with DS before we started on the school work. He is surprisingly inflexible for someone who does so much PE at school. He's actually begging to go back to Joe Wick Grin So tomorrow, we might try Joe before schoolwork and yoga at the end.

crivit · 20/04/2020 11:10

Down a smidge today at 66.9kg. Happy with that given I missed a workout on Saturday night (hurting too much from the grocery shopping trip - back problems mean standing in a non-moving queue for 45 minutes causes painful problems). Also had a couple of small chocolate biscuits yesterday with the post lunch espresso. And there will be a little bit of pudding over the next couple of days too. Had some pastry left from making a quiche type thing yesterday so, instead of wasting it, I made a coffee and chocolate filling for 4 little pastry cases with two servings of the filling just as a sort of heavy mousse. Partner is happy with this 😁

@cricketmum84 - that vegan delivery sounds great but potentially dangerous 😄. Yay on the pound!

@GetTheStartyParted - sorting out the kitchen has been on my to do list for a while. Finally bought some jars at the weekend but they're still in the box... And I have so much stuff on top of my chest freezer getting anything in or out needs two of us. Definitely need to take inspiration and sort that all out!

I think I may benefit from doing a timetable just for myself at the moment. I have so much studying I want and need to do but the days are passing me by 😕

@recklessgran - yay on your weigh-in too!

@JessJonesJumps - sounds like a good plan. Bouncing around to get everyone awake for study and then yoga at the end of the day.

Afternoon all. I've been back to working from home today but managed some exercise:

6.5km walk
15km cycle (spin bike)
30mins BodyBalance class

Foodwise:
B- Weetabix
L- Ham and Cheese sandwich on seedy bread
D- Homemade KFC

Hope everyone is ok. Being 'back at work' has kept me busy and away from the snacks today. Weigh in on Weds and will see if it's made any impact.

GetTheStartyParted · 20/04/2020 18:26

@crivit i couldn't believe how much we have in the freezer in the garage. It's definitely worth doing.

Enjoy your jumping around @JessJonesJumps Grin

@cricketmum84 looks great

Well done with all the exercise @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa I really need to do something, I miss swimming. And your dinner sounds lovely, I might have to copy you one day soon.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 20/04/2020 20:56

@GetTheStartyParted - I use a KFC seasoning from Spicentice blitzed with wholemeal bread into crumbs. Really tasty!

cricketmum84 · 21/04/2020 05:57

Morning all! Day 21 today - how are we all getting on?

@GetTheStartyParted god I wish I could go swimming! I miss it so much :( the sooner they get the gyms open the sooner my job will go back to normal. It's insane at the moment. (I'm payroll manager for a national gym chain that's had to furlough all but about 2% of its staff)

Plan for today is:

B - lovely fresh melon (oh how I have missed it!)
L - leftover spicy veg noodles from last night as I made too much :)
D - black been chilli and brown rice

I'm trying purple plan on ww so all of that will be 0 points unless I add a little violife Parmesan to the chilli tonight so I can have a couple of g&ts without going over points. I also have apples, pears and strawberries for snacks and need to stay away from the crisp cupboard and biscuit tin!

Still weighing in at 18.1 despite the packet of squares and the penguin from yesterday.

Have a lovely Tuesday everyone xx

@JessJonesJumps littlest DD (11) did joe wicks yesterday morning after a weeks break. She was in a heap on the floor 20 minutes in 😂😂 to be honest I felt the same just watching her! He works them hard! She had to go for a bath and a face mask to get over it....

Morning all And well done to those celebrating losses. I am 1 week in posting here and 1lb down in a week having had a bad couple of days where I just ate everything. I have a plan for the day including an early evening run.

norbert23 · 21/04/2020 08:25

Hi can I join in? I'm bf a 7 month old and have lost the weight I put on while pregnant, but I put on weight in the run up to conceiving so I need to lose about 2 1/2 stone which would be my ideal. My aim is to log calories on my fitness pal and if I can do some sort of exercise - tricky with a 4 yo and baby despite my best intentions but hopefully I'll feel more determined if I'm checking in on here! Any advice on eating well while bf and losing weight would be v much appreciated xx

HundredYearOldMan · 21/04/2020 09:14

Morning everyone. It’s my weigh day today and I’ve lost 1lb. I’m now 15st 2, was 15st 7 at the start of April. Hoping for 2 off next week to meet my April target! I need to drink more water and do more exercise. I’m doing ok on the food front.

@cricketmum84 the veg box looks great!

@norbert23 good luck, and go easy on yourself! You’re doing really well already. I can’t give specific advice because I have no children, but logging cals on MFP and maybe going for a nice walk each day with baby in pram/sling would be good?

GetTheStartyParted · 21/04/2020 10:13

Thanks @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa I can't use breadcrumbs but will use almond flour or something as a substitute.

@cricketmum84 No wonder you have been so busy with work. I had got into a good routine of swimming three times a week and now I do nothing. It's so hard isn't it.

Well done @Jollyholibobs and @HundredYearOldMan Star

And hello to @norbert23

Plan today:

Cheese, ham, celery, nuts and mayo for lunch

Dinner of minced beef with peppers, mushrooms etc and roast swede with garlic.

I only had 1100 calories yesterday and was low for my protein and fat so going to try and do better today. I did make myself a delicious chocolate mug cake with cream to boost it up to 1100 as I was super low before that.

Ecci · 21/04/2020 12:34

@GetTheStartyParted Congratulations on getting into the 12s, a great achievement. I'm doing dismally this month, still the same as I was at the start. Haven't given uo, though, still trying.

JessJonesJumps · 21/04/2020 13:26

@GetTheStartyParted sorry I missed you'd got into the 12s. Well done! That's brilliant! Star
Slightly down today but honestly, I'm struggling to focus. My DM was taken into hospital yesterday. She had a minor accident that needed emergency treatment. My DB waited with her till the ambulance came so he's also going to stay with her when she gets out of hospital. In normal times, I'd be worried about the accident but in the current climate, I'm more concerned about her being in hospital and exposed to cross-contamination. She's elderly and has underlying conditions that make her vulnerable. Not being able to see her just makes it all so surreal.

GetTheStartyParted · 21/04/2020 16:30

Thank you Smile

@Ecci at least you're maintaining for now.

@JessJonesJumps sorry to hear about your mum. My DSis had to go for an x-ray recently and said the hospital was divided and she didn't feel at risk. Hopefully your mum will have a similar experience. I hope she is soon on the mend Flowers

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 21/04/2020 16:54

Hello everyone.

Daughters birthday today so I created a party buffet lunch for our household. I didn't go mad, but I obviously ate way more than usual because I'm not hungry at all and have scrapped the plans for tea.

No exercise at all today as we had other priorities - back to it tomorrow morning after weigh in.

Hope everyone is keeping safe 😊

cricketmum84 · 22/04/2020 08:29

Morning all! Finally finished working at 1.30 this morning. I am absolutely exhausted!

Down another pound though so I'm back to 18.0. I would dearly love to see a 17 by the end of this month!

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa hope your daughter had a lovely day despite the corona madness!

@JessJonesJumps sending love to your mum. FWIW I hear hospitals have red zones for corona patients so the risk of cross contamination for anyone attending for anything else would be the same as visiting a supermarket! (I would be worried too though)

Well done on the loss @HundredYearOldMan

Wishing a warm welcome to @norbert23

Plan for today is:

B - melon and strawberries
L - some sort of salad with the gorgeous smelling tomatoes from my veg box. Might go back to a Bulgarian style shopska :)
D - tofurky maple bacon, scrambled eggs, more tomatoes and mushrooms.

Have a lovely Wednesday everyone!

OP posts:
WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 22/04/2020 08:51

Thanks @cricketmum84. 😊

Weighed in this morning and have lost a pound. Given I walked 22 miles last week that doesn't seem entirely fair, but I'll take it and address my diet this week. Sure I can lose 6lbs next week to get my 7lb for the month? 😂😂

Starting the day with a bowl of shreddies and and a walk before starting work. Have a great day everyone.

MotherOfDragonite · 22/04/2020 10:02

Well done @cricketmum84! What is a Bulgarian style shopska?!

Nice one @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa. I know, it seems unfair when you've done so much exercise. But I really think you will be reaping the benefits in terms of muscle tone and body shape!

Very well done @GetTheStartyParted on getting into the 12s! What a result!

@recklessgran yes, my mum is very pleased to have us here (and we are glad to be here). It makes the 4 weeks of self isolation feel a bit more worthwhile as we were able to. Also, amazing to have stairs to run up and down!

MotherOfDragonite · 22/04/2020 10:11

Rrally pleased with my loss this week! 2.5 lb gone and into the 15s. I've been really good about sticking to my points and it's so nice to be getting a tiny bit more exercise. I think I started April at 16 st 4.5, so I'm down 5 lb for the month and will aim/hope to lose 2 lb more in the coming week.

Starting weight: 17 st 8.5 lb
Last week's weight: 16 st 2 lb
This week's weight: 15 st 13.5 lb (-2.5!)
Lost so far: 23 lb
Still to lose: 49.5 lb

recklessgran · 22/04/2020 10:27

Morning all. Confession time. Well and truly fell off the wagon yesterday. I ate 2 slices of toast and marmite with lashings of Lurpak for lunch but boy did I enjoy it. And 6 pink wafer biscuits. I have no idea what that was about at all. Just because, I suppose.
Unsurprisingly, a one pound gain on the scales this morning. Oh well, it's a new day and I have an Ocado delivery coming this afternoon. It will hopefully be sirloin steak and stir fry veg for dinner tonight.
Productive day here so far with today's To Do list - managed to get Direct Line to reduce our home policy further to getting their renewal. [I object to an annual increase when we are loyal customers.] £50 saved there.
@cricketmum84 I've got everything crossed that you make the 17's sooon!
@MotherofDragonite - yes, I should start running up and down my stairs. Guess I'm taking them for granted. My current activity level is something akin to a slug's if I'm honest. @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa I am in awe of your activity level. I'd be gutted and expect a far greater loss on the scales for all your efforts too.
Sun shining here so going to sit in the garden with a book I think. Have a good day all.

recklessgran · 22/04/2020 10:29

@MotherofDragonite I just saw your update - well done, that is brilliant! KOKO you.

cricketmum84 · 22/04/2020 10:42

@MotherOfDragonite it's a traditional Bulgarian salad that I became addicted to when we visited on holiday last year. Beautifully fresh tomatoes, cucumber, red onion and parsley topped with grated Bulgarian white cheese (very similar to feta) a drizzle of olive oil and sometimes a sprinkle of mixed seeds. Pretty much the only vegetarian dish they have 😂 also fantastic loss well done!!

@recklessgran I'm at slug level too 😂😂

JessJonesJumps · 22/04/2020 11:00

@motherofdragonite well done on reaching the 15s and on your losses. They're fab!

Slightly down this morning which was a surprise because the Easter chocolate finally turned up this week and I ate some buttons and mini chocolate bunnies yesterday.
Thanks for all your well wishes for DM. She got home yesterday so DB facetimed us all last night so she could see us and chat to us which was great. DM is an absolute luddite when it comes to technology but I think this may finally persuade her of its benefits.
I couldn't face Jumpin' Joe GrinWink this morning so did yoga instead. I'll maybe try Joe later... I may be lying to myself
