Good morning all, some good losses this week congrats all round especially those who are into the next stone down.
I think I may be plateauing I have lost and regained the same 2lbs for two weeks now. It's my weigh in day today and after gaining Sunday and Monday and staying the same yesterday I lost a little today and am 12st 1.0lb which is up 0.6lbs from Saturday but down a whole 0.2lbs from last Wednesday!

longroute11 · 22/04/2020 11:51

Time seems to be going I don’t know where, feel like I am constantly doing”stuff” but don’t seem to be accomplishing much.

Enjoyed reading all the losses though to catching up, well done everyone. Sympathise with the occasional blips as it’s blooming hard.

I’m drinking loads of water and surprisingly do feel better for it. Wonder now if I’ve been a bit de hydrated on lots of occasions and was eating when really I should of been drinking water to fill up.

I’m sticking to my plan better this week and have upped my exercise to two workouts a day. Although I’m finding muscles I’ve not been using and am a bit achy I really feel like I’ve woken up. Maybe endorphins but I’m determined to keep going. Only downside is I’m having terrible hot flushes 50+!

I’m aiming for 4lb loss for end of month, would be great if it’s more but don’t want to give myself unrealistic expectations. If I put too many targets out there and I don’t meet the, all my good work will go out the window as I chomp through a bag of kettle chips.

Making a tomato risotto tonight. Done a vegetable stock out of my veg peelings which I’ve been saving in fridge over this week. Sounds gross but seems to have worked as smells ok in bowl in fridge. Will see tonight when I make risotto. Will put in some white wine. DH pleased as it means we can have a glass to drink too as I’ve opened bottle( our house rule no wine till Fridays in week) 🥂

Lovely sunny day so garden for me with a book later.

If anyone has a great exercise tip for helping reduce a baggy stomach, would be very grateful. I was wondering about attempting some sit ups, not sure if they are best though.

GreenFairy246 · 22/04/2020 12:25

Can I join in please?

I have A LOT of weight to lose, I'm trying not to focus on the big figure. But this pandemic has scared the bejesus out of me and I'm more motivated than I have been in a long time.

Lost 2lb week before last, 5lb last week and although I am not supposed to weigh in till Saturday I jumped on the scales today and they say I have lost 3lb so far this week so I am hoping for 4-5lb this week. Obviously the big loss is because I have a lot to lose and I've just started. Taking it a stone at a time.

Lost 4 or 5 stone in the past, but then gained it all back. Trying to adopt a new lifestyle rather than calling it a diet with a timescale.

Basically I'm doing 16:8 and eating only homecooked food and avoiding anything processed. Plus walking each day and being as active as possible.

I've not told anyone as I find the critique of what I'm doing annoying. I'd love to come out of isolation lighter, healthier and less likely to catch this bloody virus and get out of 2020 alive!

Good luck to everyone else doing the same!

JessJonesJumps · 22/04/2020 12:46

Welcome GreenFairy . I know what you mean about other people's critiques and expectations. I didn't tell anyone until they started to notice.
longroute I find some of the yoga exercises are good for abs because it's about engaging your core so even when doing floor leg exercises, you're holding your stomach and abs differently.

Ploughingthrough · 22/04/2020 13:34

Welcome GreenFairy246 you've come to the right place. I have lost 2 stone 1 lb on 16:8 in less than 4 months so if you can stick to it you might find yourself having some success.

TryingTwo I think I am also plateauing. I've been 62.2kg for a couple of days now but it's taken ages just to drop a few hundred grams. Being cooped up is not making things any easier. I went for a 3k walk today. It was 36 degrees and the hottest day of the year so I was drenched in sweat by the time I got home and slightly regretted it. It was brutal but it's that or nothing in Singapore at the moment if you want to get some exercise.
Congrats on all the excellent losses so far.

GetTheStartyParted · 22/04/2020 13:41

Well done @MotherOfDragonite that's amazing!

Glad to hear your mum is recovering @JessJonesJumps that must be a relief.

Hi @GreenFairy246 it sounds like you are doing well already Smile

MotherOfDragonite · 22/04/2020 13:51

Welcome @GreenFairy, I am also trying to lose a lot of weight bit by bit. This is a really nice encouraging group of people and I find it helps a lot!

MotherOfDragonite · 22/04/2020 13:56

I've been wondering about making vegetable stock from peelings, @longroute11, but I did keep thinking it seemed a bit gross! Can you report back on your results? Might inspire me to give it a go! At the moment I use Marigold vegetable bouillon powder.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It's always really exciting to get down into a new stone bracket. It is a bit weird though as I still look almost exactly as fat as I was 23 lb ago. Nobody has noticed that I've lost weight and I still look really big, I guess because I have so much to lose. Don't get me wrong, I'm still really pleased to be losing the weight, especially in a sustainable way over a period of time, but it's a bit alarming that I had so much to lose that even a stone and a half isn't enough to notice a difference yet!

longroute11 · 22/04/2020 14:24

Thanks @JessJonesJumps, I’ll take a look at some yoga clips online.

@MotherOfDragonoite I will let post how the risotto goes. I’ve only kept the peelings for a few days worth and in fridge but when I made it yesterday it smelt nice. I normally use a stock cube but thought I’d give it a go.

@GreenFairy246, well done, sounds like you have got off to a good start. I too a more trying to tackle it as healthier eating for me and really thinking about what I am eating and when. I too have a lot to lose but your right this pandemic has really made me think about my own health and the reasons why I want to give this year a really good go at changing habits. I am so fed up at not being able to get in most of my clothes and think I have decided not to buy anything until the Autumn/ Winter at the very earliest to spur me on.

I am so looking forward to bagging up my too big clothes when the time comes. For now I’m taking one day at a time but a more quite impatient by nature.

Onceuponatimethen · 22/04/2020 17:33

@MotherOfDragonite well done!! Dp found it didn’t show at first but then he reached a tipping point and it really did show!

MotherOfDragonite · 22/04/2020 22:27

Ooh @cricketmum84 the shopska salad sounds brilliant! I'm going to make some as soon as I get my next lot of groceries!

MotherOfDragonite · 22/04/2020 22:28

@Onceuponatimethen I very much hope the same thing happens for me!

JessJonesJumps · 23/04/2020 09:29

WI day for me and I'm 0.2lbs up from last week.
SW Jan 2020 - 13.7.8
Apr SW - 12.7.6
CW - 12.4.2

That means I need to lose over 3lbs in 7 days to meet my target Grin Safe to say that won't happen.

longroute11 · 23/04/2020 10:54

Onceaponatimeandthen, I really await my tipping point with glee. Well done to your partner, they must feel so good. I really can’t wait to see a difference to spur me on over the weeks ahead.

My risotto was ok with the veg peelings stock. I wouldn’t say it was a revelation but the risotto was flavoursome without a stock cube I would usually use. I think if I can get some courgette and British asparagus when it’s in season I would use those ends and bits to make a nice summer type risotto to really use all the veg.

Weigh day tomorrow for me.

Egghead68 · 23/04/2020 11:14

Well I’ve managed to put on 4kg since 1st April while ill in bed with Covid-19 and I now weigh 67.1kg. I knew I was overeating a bit and buying comfort food but I think the total lack of activity really scuppered me too. I hope everyone is doing better than me. I’m sure you are!!

cricketmum84 · 23/04/2020 11:43

Under the circumstances @Egghead68 we are just glad you are through it!! Weight can be lost but people can't be replaced ❤️

OP posts:
Egghead68 · 23/04/2020 13:22

Thanks @cricketmum84! That is a good way of looking at it. I am still not 100% but can get out of bed at least.

I am behind with the thread but hope everyone is OK.

MotherOfDragonite · 23/04/2020 13:41

Oh goodness @Egghead68 I would say it is thoroughly worth it for a good recovery! Nice to see you back and able to get out of bed. Sending you all good wishes.

Egghead68 · 23/04/2020 13:57

Thanks @MotherofDragonite and congratulations on your loss!

Tryingtwo · 23/04/2020 15:14

Glad you are feeling better Egghead68 and hope you recover completely as soon as possible Flowers

Egghead68 · 23/04/2020 20:04

Thanks @Tryingtwo! Sorry you are plateauing. Hope things shift soon.

recklessgran · 23/04/2020 20:53

Good evening all and glad to see you back @Egghead68. Do please take it easy and give yourself the time to recover. The weight loss can follow and we will all be here when the time comes to congratulate and support you but for now just so glad that you are O.K. and improving.
I've had a very hungry day today. Ham, tomato and coleslaw for lunch, prawn cocktail followed by sausages and stir fry followed by sugar free jelly and raspberries for dinner. On top of that I've also had half a dozen pecan nuts and 2 squares of dark chocolate. That is an awful lot of food by my normal standards. Don't know what's got into me this week. I've been very naughty indeed really. Oh well think I'll be lucky to see any loss at all for April at this rate.
@JessJonesJumps I think you're doing really well!

Egghead68 · 23/04/2020 22:14

Thanks @recklessgran! I hope you are doing well. Even if you don’t see as much loss as you hoped this month any loss is a huge achievement in my book in the circumstances.

Nicolanomore24 · 23/04/2020 22:18

Can anyone offer any advice on why I’m not losing weight?

I’m running/fast walking 6 miles a day and eating between 800-1300 calories a day. I’ve been doing this for the last month and I’ve only lost 4 pound.

I’m not overweight as such but for me I’m overweight if you know that I mean.

MotherOfDragonite · 23/04/2020 22:38

@Nicolanomore24 are you measuring yourself at all? A loss of roughly 1lb a week is pretty good, you're doing well! But I wonder whether the exercise is also translating into getting toned and if your body shape is changing more rapidly than your actual weight?
