Hello my lovely losers and welcome to the April edition of lose 7lbs/3kg per month!

Previous thread here :) Lose 7lbs/3kg a month - The March Thread http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3835693-lose-7lbs-3kg-a-month-the-march-thread

All are welcome regardless of how much you want to lose or what method you are following.

All I ask for is the amazing support and positivity I see every month from this absolutely amazing little corner of mumsnet.

Obviously things are going to be a bit weird this month. If your goal is just to maintain then that's absolutely fine. Stick with us, share your plans, recipes, hopes and achievements. Share your good days and your down days. Chat is not limited to just dieting and food. You regulars have kept me going this last few weeks!!

Anyway, enough mushy stuff! See you all tomorrow for start of the month weigh in!!!

Much love and stay safe! ❤️❤️

@cricketmum84 I made a version of the shopska salad today and it was brilliant! I added chickpeas and avocado, and quick-pickled the red onions before I put them in. Absolutely delicious. Had it for supper on is own and felt really satisfied. Thank you for the suggestion!

cricketmum84 · 24/04/2020 06:30

Just wrote a really long post and then lost it 😭

Weight is bobbling up and down. Really must tell myself not to weigh every day!!! Once or twice a week is enough.

OMAD today as its treat night. Chinese takeaway but will go for something light and no extra carbs. Maybe one of the scrambled egg based dishes?

@MotherOfDragonite yay glad you enjoyed the shopska! I ate so many of them in bulgaria. They traditionally serve it as a starter but I found it filling enough for my main and most places made it a little bigger when they knew that's all I was ordering :) I'm all out of cucumber now but will get some tomorrow when DH does a shop so I can make more!

@Nicolanomore24 that sounds like a healthy and sustainable loss to me! You certainly sound like you are doing all the right things. And definitely yes to measuring alongside weighing.

Have a great Friday everyone! Am keeping everything crossed for a couple of hours off this afternoon to sit outside with a book!

Morning all. My transgressions of the last few days are now showing on the scales. A 2lb gain. Today is OMAD for me without a doubt and properly back on the Keto wagon. Have given myself a talking to. I will be having chicken salad for dinner. Have a good day all.

JessJonesJumps · 24/04/2020 10:25

Slightly down today and did Jumpin' Joe this morning Wink
We got lots of veg and fruit delivered yesterday so I think I'll make a vegetable pathia tonight. I feel starved of veg even though it hasn't really been that long.
I had a surprising NSV yesterday. DSIL bought me pyjamas at Christmas that were size 8-10. (MIL always bought clothes for me in much larger sizes than I was. SIL buys them in smaller sizes Grin ) Anyway, I tried them on last night and they fit! Obviously they must be quite a large 8-10 because I'm still firmly overweight but I definitely couldn't have worn them in Dec when I was given them.
nicola I'd agree with PPs that 4lbs in one month when you don't have much to lose is actually good. Sometimes, changing up your exercise routine or your eating window will help too.

Tryingtwo · 24/04/2020 13:55

Good afternoon all, that's a great NSV JessJonesJumps my SIL used to buy me XL jumpers back in the days when I was a 14 (they came in useful several years ago before I outgrew them Blush).
A slight loss today after yesterday's sts. I'm still determined to get into the 11's by the end of the month - 11st 13.8 would do!

Onceuponatimethen · 25/04/2020 07:28

Morning everyone! Hope it’s a lovely weekend for us all.

I’m fairly exhausted from home schooling now the dds primary school is back and we are doing the school day online. Really hard to work and do that, but determined to at least try to keep being upbeat.

Exercise wise it’s been more difficult to fit it in now kids are back at school. Today the plan is to do some kiddie work outs with the dds and maybe some dances from YouTube.

Food:

Brek - fruit
Lunch - eggs and salad (whatever random salad bits we have in)
Dinner - will have to be lamb mince as that’s what we have in, so I’m guessing shepherd’s pie plus veg

recklessgran · 25/04/2020 10:04

Morning all. OMAD working again and weight back down slightly today. Hoping for sirloin steak and stir fry for dinner tonight. [That depends upon DGS being able to get the ingredients for us when he gets our few bits of fresh shopping today.]
I've finally cracked and have asked DH to come out for a walk with me today. We have been confined to the house and garden for the last 5 weeks upon instruction from DD4 [junior doc] . I have had enough of this now and think that it has impacted on our mental health and probably caused my subsequent diet failures of this week. I won't be telling DD4 that we've been out. I truly don't want to add to her already significant anxiety. I'm already worried enough about her having 4 covid wards to care for. [Sorry for rant - trying to be grateful that so far we are all safe.]
Will catch up later and tell you about my walk - will wear pedometer and give it a shock! it hasn't got above 1000 steps since lockdown.
I'm trying to make the weekend look a bit different to during the week with nicer food and a To Do list with some more interesting activities on it. Today I'm going to repot, feed and sort out my houseplants and give myself a pedicure. Hope everyone has a lovely day too.

Studentnursesos12e · 25/04/2020 10:29

Can I join if that’s okay? (Even though it’s nearly May 😂)

I’m doing calorie counting and wanting to lose at least two stone. CW unknown but 12-13 stone.

I’m having 1500-1700 cals a day with a protein shake for breakfast (as I can’t eat too early) I then have lunch and tea and a few snacks and sometimes a second shake. Trying to make my meals full of F+V.

B - protein shake 211 cals

Onceuponatimethen · 25/04/2020 10:43

@recklessgran rant away - must be really concerning about dd4 and I’m sure you are both worried and incredibly proud of her. She is doing a wonderful job by the sound of it. I hope the walks help and think there is something comforting about going out and about for the daily exercise.

Good luck @Studentnursesos12e I’m also a relatively recent joiner. This is a really supportive thread and has really worked for me and dp - just great to have someone to share your successes and the little slips with. Dp and I only started weighing once we were a bit in as we didn’t want to get put off!

Studentnursesos12e · 25/04/2020 13:01

Thanks @Onceuponatimethen
I’m going to have to be really disciplined as ward work combined with dieting is quite hard but I’m determined. Well done on your progress so far x
L - 2 x wraps with quorn , hummus and lettuce 306 cals

Onceuponatimethen · 25/04/2020 13:12

I can imagine @Studentnursesos12e! I’m sure you need plenty of energy for your role. Must be very tough at the moment. Lunch sounds good

CoronaMoaner · 25/04/2020 13:54

Hi everyone. I’m joining in anticipation of the May thread link and to see what everyone else is doing.
I was on these threads last year under a different name but I’ve just weighed myself this morning and I’ve put on 4kg in lockdown. May 1st I’m going to start reducing calories and moving more as I’ve basically used April as an excuse to do nothing and eat everything.
Look forward to losing some excess weight with you all!

Jollyholibobs · 25/04/2020 13:54

Good afternoon all. Have been eating too much and the wrong thing over the last few days and undone any success of the week before.

Have had my usual good breakfast
2 slices of DH ‘s delicious homemade bread was irresistible but not butter or anything it is delicious as it is.
Dinner is fish Tacos DD and her bf are cooking. I need to exercise a bit of restraint!!

Welcome @Studentnursesos12e

4lbs so far is great and a good steady loss @Nicolanomore24

Enjoy the sunshine if you have it everyone.

MotherOfDragonite · 25/04/2020 14:08

I am comfortably in the 15s now and seeing the scales every morning makes me happy!

I am still having a boiled egg on toast every morning, followed by a very low-point vegetable soup at lunch, then a more substantial supper. As long as I am careful with portion control, I find it can be quite nice too -- made a delicious satay sauce last night using PB Fit powder which we ate over roasted veg and brown rice, with a Quorn fillet on the side.

The one thing I really miss is being able to go swimming. That will be such a treat when we are allowed out again.

GetTheStartyParted · 25/04/2020 15:24

Afternoon everyone! Lovely to hear you're well on the mend @Egghead68

Coming up to completing the 13th week of being keto and I really want to eat some crisps and chocolate today! It's not a craving as such but I've been so disciplined and I don't think I will have lost anything this week.
TOTM has been horrendous again and I just want 'comfort food'. I have two Easter eggs that remain untouched but I really want them! Blush Hope you're all doing better than me.

recklessgran · 25/04/2020 16:30

@GetTheStaryParted I hear you! I'm in week 17 of keto and I've fallen off the wagon on 2 days this week. I really regret it because now I'm finding it really hard to stick to "the rules". Sorry, I don't have any advice but these are really weird conditions in which to be trying to lose weight. I think we all need to do whatever it takes to get through. Perhaps let yourself off the hook just for today enjoy somme crisps and chocolate and then get back on it tomorrow?
Beautiful day here. So looking forward to our evening walk in a local nature reserve. I've been good today and cleaned the bathroom thoroughly, stripped and changed beds and bleached the kitchen including the floor so now everything is looking pristine. i've sorted out all the houseplants and DH is tatting about in the garden. DD1 is doing a jigsaw so I might give her a bit of help with that later.

GetTheStartyParted · 25/04/2020 17:31

Thanks @recklessgran It's the first diet I've managed to stick to. I haven't eaten anything I shouldn't, but realistically I will be on it for at least another 6 months.

Shortly after posting my DH told me that I am looking beautiful and slim today so maybe it is working Blush

Your evening walk sounds lovely, we've just got back from walking the dogs. It really is a beautiful day.

JessJonesJumps · 25/04/2020 18:23

Weight was slightly down again this morning. But I had a bowl of pasta for lunch and some of my dark chocolate easter egg. I enjoyed them both so much. I rarely eat pasta but DS loves it.
The weather here is glorious so we've been sitting outside sipping cold drinks and listening to the birds. I wish we had a paddling pool / hot tub / pool.

Ploughingthrough · 26/04/2020 06:11

I am losing my mojo for weight loss. So hard in this horrible lock-down. It doesn't seem to matter what I do, I can't get down past 62.2 kg where I have been for ages. DH and I always have a takeaway just after payday so that was yesterday - I pigged out a bit so that won't help! But otherwise I have been good; stuck to 16:8 and not snacked although exercise is obviously down due to being stuck in tiny flat! Maybe I have reached my body's preferred weight. Tbh I only wanted to get to 60kg but this last bit is harder than any of the 13.5kg that's come before it! Well done on those of you showing any loss.

Egghead68 · 26/04/2020 06:54

65.5kg. Thanks for the shopska (?sp) idea @cricketmum84. Had it yesterday with lots of red onions in it - delicious.

@ploughingthrough - I think you are doing amazingly not to gain weight in these circumstances. And unless you are extremely petite 62.2kg sounds like a healthy weight. I was stuck on 63kg before lockdown and couldn’t shift any more (my goal was 60kg).

Ploughingthrough · 26/04/2020 06:58

Well done Egghead68 you're getting rid of that gain quickly! I hope you are feeling better too.

And thank you, I' m trying so hard not to gain - we've still got till June 1st or maybe even longer here in Singapore so it's a long time till I'll be back in the pool or able to go to pilates. I am enjoying online pilates though! I am 5ft 6 so I am a healthy weight now which I'm delighted about. But I have a lot of wobble still which I would love to reduce!

Egghead68 · 26/04/2020 06:58

Thanks @GetTheStartyParted
Lovely compliment from your DH.

Your walks sound idyllic @recklessgran.

GetTheStartyParted · 26/04/2020 09:57

I really need to learn to only weigh once a week.

So yesterday morning I hadn't lost anything and as you saw, it made me have a wobble. I actually stuck to my diet though, thanks to DH Grin and this morning I am 2lb down! So that's 7lbs this month and 36lbs total.

Going to have my Easter egg when I reach a 3 stone loss. Only 6lbs to go Grin

@MotherOfDragonite love to hear you're enjoying your weight loss and happy to see results. It's all about how it makes you feel, you're doing great.

@JessJonesJumps Well done on your loss and a little bit of what you fancy does you good! We were talking about wanting a pool or hot tub. We are in the middle of doing our garden and DS says he's found the perfect place.

@ploughingthrough You've done so well. Your lockdown sounds tough. Good luck with maintaining and I cannot wait until we are all able to go back to exercising.

Egghead68 · 26/04/2020 10:05

Thanks @ploughingthrough and well done on your success.

Jollyholibobs · 26/04/2020 10:25

@MotherOfDragonite sounds like you are in the zone. That’s great and reminds me of what I’m trying to get to.
@GetTheStartyParted what a lovely thing to be told you look beautiful and slim. Great inspiration to stick with it when the going is a little tough.
@ploughingthrough it sounds like you are a lovely healthy weight now. Enjoy it and don’t stress too much about the last 2kg they’ll go if you stick in there.

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather. I am a weigh every day person except when I know I won’t want to see the number. Mostly I like to see little downs and accept small ups as indication I may need to adjust my nutrition or my exercise. It’s not been working well recently as I have not resisted biscuits etc. But yesterday I did put everything in mfp and today’s weight is down on yesterday.
Today’s plan
Breakfast of porridge made with water and chia seeds, half a banana and frozen berries. This is my go to breakfast.

Lunch salad of grated cabbage, courgette carrot, bean sprouts and cherry toms. 0% Greek yoghurt.

Dinner Japanese ramen made by my daughter and her bf. I will select the components of my bowl to avoid excess calories.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.
