Lose in November

Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s November’s thread. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which undoubtedly underpins healthy eating habits and lifestyle. That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Wow, only 66 days until 2020. So much can be achieved in that time and we could be greeting the New Year with renewed optimism, feeling happier and somewhat healthier.

Thanks @busteddreams. I will be back!

lavenderbongo · 28/10/2019 06:02

I want to join this thread as I’ve just started my weight loss journey. I’ve joined a gym and following a weight loss eating plan which I’ve started today.
I’m 102kg and want to get to a healthy weight and be fit enough to do all the great walks in NZ with my DH.

MrsJonesAndMe · 28/10/2019 06:12

Hi @lavenderbongo and welcome. I've been doing intermittent fasting quite successfully since the end of July and have lost 12kg.

Do you live out in NZ or planning a trip?

BustedDreams · 28/10/2019 06:12

Welcome @lavenderbongo. You’ve come to the right place 😊

lavenderbongo · 28/10/2019 06:36

Hi MrsJonesandme I live in NZ and what to fit and healthy so I can enjoy living here Smile

BlueEyedFloozy · 28/10/2019 06:48

I'd like to join please. i could be doing with being a bit healthier, a lot lighter and a damn site more happy with myself!

I'm trying to build healthy habits that I can maintain rather than following a plan as that route doesn't work so well for me long term.

I'm a binge eater and believe I may have inherited my Mums negative attitudes toward eating, perpetually dieting with a bit of bulemia for added measure and I don't want my 6yo picking up on it the way I did so I NEED to change my ways now.

Will weigh in shortly and start from there :)
.

BustedDreams · 28/10/2019 07:00

Welcome @user1483387154 & @BlueEyedFloozy.

I too can ‘eat my feelings’ @BlueEyedFloozy. For me I acknowledge that what I’m feeling isn’t true hunger but an hurt or emptiness that food will just not fill so I try to not self sooth with food. At those times I will get busy, such as painting nails or having a bath. Guaranteed (mostly) after 20 mins/half an hour, the urge has gone.

Placemaking for November! Looking forward to starting a fresh new month! November's target is to lose 5 pounds (taking me down to 9 st 9), would be soooo good if I can get there

BustedDreams · 28/10/2019 08:14

@Mungomango are we twins Grin I think we are both at the same weight and I’d also love to see 5lbs gone in November. If I don’t it’s ok, but be great if I did. My New Year dress will fit so much more nicely with a bit more midriff gone 😊

Yes, i need to learn to disconnect my feelings from my food. I'm a huge emotional eater whether I'm happy, sad or stressed...

1st weigh in - 13st 11lbs. I'm 5"3.5 so it's a bit lot heavier than I should be. I'd like to be 11st.

Faultymain5 · 28/10/2019 08:41

I'm joining. I'm trying to lose a stone by NYE.

I'm 5'2 10st 2lb I'd like to start November 10st 1lb. Except I'm ill. Here's hoping no chest infection or bronchitis. Planning on practising yoga

aufaitaccompli · 28/10/2019 09:04

I'd like to join please?
Honestly I am.OVERWHELMED at the range of options, conflicting reports, health advice etc that is out there.

I don't lose weight easily at all and am worried my metabolism is buggered.

My circumstances have meant that I haven't shown myself the love I desperately needed. I'm improving and no longer gag when I look in the mirror.

I feel a dreadful failure tbh. Which isn't rational, but it's there all the same.

I'd like to lose 5 stone. Halloween Shock

Lifeisntadressrehearsal · 28/10/2019 09:46

Hi all, I'd like to join the gang Smile.

I'd like to lose 2 stone - obviously not doable by Christmas - but could make some headway!

I started the Fast800 earlier in the year and lost 2 stone in 12 weeks combined with intermittent eating - all was going great and then I had an unscheduled hospital stay and this has really knocked me off my axis so to speak. Sad

For the last few months, I keep on overeating. I've always had an issue with food and know I'm an emotional ( and secret) eater. I've got to stop!!!!!!

So joining this thread and getting support from you lovelies will hopefully get me back on track. Grin

I have bitten the bullet and weighed myself this morning Shock and have put a stone of the 2 and a half I lost back on Sad.

I know I can do this but could do with some virtual handholding as I can't talk about this in real life and would be good to be honest.

Hopefully, we can support and inspire each other Smile

buzzofthebumblebee · 28/10/2019 11:33

Hello - another new joiner to the group please. I have lurked on your other thread, amazed at the positivity and support shared, and in awe of the weight loss so far. Thank you all & busted.

I'm also an emotional-eater, with no off-switch. Braved the scales this morning. 13 stone 0.5 lbs. So I have 2 stone to loose. Determined to break the cycle - so will start today and stay and start officially in November at under 13 stone.

FlatheadScrewdriver · 28/10/2019 11:44

I'm in please. Lost 5 stone, but in the past twelve months one has slunk back on on a tide of biscuits so it's time to claw back a grip on things. I've signed up for a virtual running challenge for November but I can't kid myself exercise alone will sort things so I need some sensible healthy eating. Bring on the satsumas! Ideally I would like 5-7lbs off in November...let's see.

BustedDreams · 28/10/2019 13:43

A warm welcome to @Faultymain5 @aufaitaccompli @Lifeisntadressrehearsal @buzzofthebumblebee & @FlatheadScrewdriver

Sounds very doable @Faultymain5 !

@aufaitaccompli I can identify with how you feel . BUT ... you’re not a failure, you’re a wonderful human. We all are.

@Lifeisntadressrehersal I’m similar in that 2 st came off relatively easily and now I find I’m bouncing the same couple of lbs up/down. Ultimately I’d like to lose 2st more but for now happy to shift several lbs.

@buzzofthebumblebee you can do it! Even if you have a few false starts, the success is the getting back to it and not giving up, especially on yourself.

@FlatheadScrewdriver Bloody well done! Your goal sounds doable, so allow this thread to support you in meet your November milestone.

I’m just enjoying a late lunch of spicy roasted butternut squash soup 🍜.

What has everyone else had?

BlueEyedFloozy · 28/10/2019 14:21

Wow, it's getting busy here 😁

Thus is my danger time - coming home from work at lunchtime and sitting down to eat before walking along to school is prime binge time for me!

Waiting patiently for payday on Thursday so my food isn't the healthiest but it's better than what I usually eat... I had 2 slices of toast with half a tin of spaghetti hoops, 2 slices of melon and a cup of tea.

Faultymain5 · 28/10/2019 15:29

So far I have eaten scrambled eggs, 2slices of toast with butter and Jam.

I then had a packet of M&S wotsits, 2 beef sausages and beans

1 apple and peanut butter. I'm still looking for food to eat. Sad

MrsJonesAndMe · 28/10/2019 16:24

Haven't got time to type hellos to everyone, but welcome all Smile

The group has been so supportive!

Intermittent fasting is a really good way to go. I think Micheal Mosley is one of the good guys and very keen on real results based on real research @aufaitaccompli

FlatheadScrewdriver · 28/10/2019 17:10

That soup sounds good! Been to cinema this afternoon and did not eat a morsel. Proud. Forcefully reminded myself that there was no need to eat in that particular two hour window, it was just habit because "that's what you do at the cinema". Obviously I supplied snacks for DC because otherwise they would have eaten me.

Today's food: Porridge with chopped apple and dried apricots / scrambled eggs, baked leeks, roasted mushrooms / satsumas / natural yoghurt w tsp honey. Supper will be pasta with roast veg and salmon. Plus a banana because the evening is my snack danger zone.

How do others distract themselves from the evening cupboard-prowl?

aufaitaccompli · 28/10/2019 17:17

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'll look at IF. Actually have the book.

I don't like sweeteners/margarine/low-fat cheeses etc and was beginning to worry I'd end up having to eat them.

I need to focus on one woe and give it a proper go.

MrsJonesAndMe · 28/10/2019 17:32

Flathead, I have found that by "closing the eating window" 8 hours after opening it, means it's just not an option. (October has been a bitch and I've fallen off the wagon a bit, but August and September was very successful and hoping I can have a clean slate for November)
