Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s November’s thread. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which undoubtedly underpins healthy eating habits and lifestyle. That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

154.6
1225 calories in for the day, 10,000 steps (i'm at 9,900 as i type this out) with hills equaling 25 flights of stairs.
i need lots of will power to step away from the remaining chocolate bars...

BustedDreams · 02/11/2019 07:09

Good Morning

@FiveShelties Holidays away pass too fast! As you are gearing up to Summer we are on the fast track to Winter. It’s fascinating how we all experience different seasons all at the same time. The earth 🌏 is a marvellous entity.

@AreYouSiriusLupin No I don’t find it hard at all, not really. I don’t feel deprived. I naturally gravitate towards only eating twice a day as I can’t face food in the am. Also bring coeliac I can’t have foods/drinks containing gluten so that makes lower carb easier. I rarely drink alcohol. I just need to watch portion size and S T A Y away from the chocolate Grin

@Galvantula in the scheme of things time spent with friends is so important and eating & drinking are part of the social ritual. Have fun!

Today’s menu is Mix pepper omelette for lunch, sea bass and veg/salad for evening meal. Raspberries and Greek yoghurt. Water. I find having my jug of lemon water on the counter top makes it easier to meet my quota each day. White tea and 1 coffee with cream.

Wishing you all a great weekend!

Sorry I missed some posts.

@FlatheadScrewdriver Do you have any recipe books? I have the PON books, some Dr MM and some other ‘Healthy Eating’ books. Mind you in my heathen days I’ve been know to be munching treats whilst pursuing the virtuous recipes Grin Not heard of Dinovember before but sounds fun!

@DownUdderer I’ve heard increasing intake can boost metabolism so it might just work.

@fallfallfall I’m like you with chocolate. I especially like the dark flavoured ones like Dark Chocolate & Chilli (or with orange). At the moment I don’t have any in. I can sometimes be measured with it and just allow 2-4 squares, sometimes not Grin

@fallfallfall sounds like a good day well done. Only 7,000 steps for me and 1,500 calories. I don't go for my run as I didn't quite have the energy and I'm a bit self conscious about running whilst I'm carrying extra weight and not very fit. Silly eh? I'll have to try doing an early morning run instead.

DownUdderer · 02/11/2019 07:26

I can’t fit into my shorts. I think it’ll be 7 weeks before I can fit in them. I’m sad they don’t fit, when I bought them many years ago they were my fat shorts. I’ve got into the habit of wearing dresses and I just had my head in the sand for such a long time. I’m happy with my progress don’t get me wrong! But I’m hormonal today and I’ve been digging deep into the wardrobe. I’ve tried on some old bits that I’ve got lurking and none of it fits. I’m going to KOKO. Good luck everyone.

SunshineCake · 02/11/2019 10:34

I'm the same today as for a couple of days which is good. My plan is to not weigh myself until next Friday and see what I am. If I'm up it won't be huge and if I'm down it will be a real loss. I hope!

chutneypig · 02/11/2019 11:06

@BustedDreams the menu sounds delicious!

@Mungomango it’s got to be a morning run for me, lunchtime ish might happen, evening not! Energy is all gone by then.

@DownUdderer hopefully that boost will help, I’ll be following with interest.

Sounds a good plan @SunshineCake.

I’m on the hunt for different snacks today to plan ahead for next week. Cutting back on the milk means my go to ones are off limits for a bit!

buzzofthebumblebee · 02/11/2019 14:08

Hello everyone. Bad news is I'm up 1lb this morning. I ate a lot yesterday, mainly veg - butternut squash soup, raw carrots & hummus, and then ratatouille for dinner. So prob just bloat / water over-load.

Good news is that I managed a 5k jog this morning. Slow but didn't stop. Simply cutting back calories doesn't work - I need to do some serious cardio too to have any chance of making a move on the scales. I also need to get on to mfp to count calories, as simply counting in my head clearly doesn't work!

I do like your plan of 2 meals a day Busted. Also no sugar, low carbs. I'm trying that too. Only a cup of tea for breakfast, just had more squash soup. Will have blueberries and natural yoghurt for snack later, then salmon & veg for dinner. Gin & slimline for pud Wink

Sorry about your shorts down. It can be v disheartening when your fat-clothes don't even fit. But keep strong and you'll be back in them, & hopefully then only for a short time before you go to a smaller pair.

Foreverlexicon · 02/11/2019 19:19

Decent day here.

Diet bar for breakfast
Chicken Waldorf salad and pineapple for lunch
Chicken Kiev, lots of veg and potatoes for tea
Chocolate mousse for pud

Comes to about 1500 cals. Just under 10k steps which is a bit poor for me but I haven’t made it to the horses today and done an 11.5 hour shift so whatever

Cathy31 · 02/11/2019 20:05

My day was ok, though I can do better!
B: 2 wholemeal toast with peanut butter, 1/2 banana, tangerine
L: tuna lettuce sandwich, boiled courgette, apple
S: caramel square (small!!)
D: veg curry, yogurt and rice, 2 squares of dark chocolate
And a small glass of wine...

Exercise... Does a toddler-paced walk count?

FiveShelties · 02/11/2019 22:21

@AreYouSiriusLupin thank you. I love your user nameGrin

PointlessUsername · 02/11/2019 22:25

Can i join?

2nd week of 1200 calories and so far i have lost 2kg. I have alot more to go, like 30kg minimum.

I thought i may have lost more than this as first starting but i do Have autoimmune thyroid condition so maybe that is why.

fallfallfall · 03/11/2019 04:36

See Mungo, there are nooks and crannies where you can exercise alone. The padded track is easy on my ankle, dh is too embarrassed to walk around in circles 😉.
Good day down .8
3 meals 1090
Over 11,000 steps, 22 flights of stairs as per the watch.
I had dh make fish for supper...I hate fish...he did a good job of it.

I always feel like 5k has a good impact on my day @buzzofthebumblebee, I’m sure it gives my metabolism a boost and certainly clears my head. Well done.

The food sounds fab @Foreverlexicon, the shifts must be hard to balance up.

It’s always good to get moving @Cathy31, I’m quite fancying some whole meal toast now!

Welcome @PointlessUsername, sounds like you’re off to a good start.

Like the track photo @fallfallfall

Yesterday wasn’t fabulous for me as I ate out but it wasn’t a disaster, I felt like I was making better choices generally. The weight is hovering a bit at the moment but I’m focussed more on finding what does and doesn’t agree with me and then I’ll look more at the calories. Within reason of course!

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/11/2019 08:30

Hello, I'm back and ready to do this. Feel bleugh and lethargic due to all the processed rubbish.

Today I got on the scales and it's not too bad. Still 11.2kg down overall - that's 24.5lbs...and just under the 70kg where I wanted to be.

Going swimming with DS and then running around to sort washing/house/school stuff. Food wise, will have some crackers and cheese before we get in the pool, soup for lunch and fajitas without wrap for me with sweet potato wedges.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

Good to see you back @chutneypig

Mungomango · 03/11/2019 08:30

Good point @fallfallfall. The cover of darkness usually works for me Grin but as the days are getting longer now in NZ I may have to get more inventive!

Husbands birthday tomorrow so the kids and I baked a cake. Then I ate half of the icing with them, oops. Will have to compensate by not eating any cake tomorrow, and getting extra steps in.

cheesenpickles · 03/11/2019 12:33

Afternoon all! Scales haven't shifted but my activity has been lowwwwww this week, alcohol and snacky foods too. However, just been to the gym and didn't feel as out of shape as I thought I would be so that's a bonus. Grin Husband has loaded up the slow cooker today so that'll be my one meal and going to get a dessert in for all of us as well. Hope everybody is having a good weekend x

kelper · 03/11/2019 14:23

Today is my last day of crap and alcohol :)
Mind you dinner isn't going to be crap, there's going to be lots of veg involved, and not cooked in loads of fat or butter either.
There will also be lamb shank ;)
But I'm finishing off the wine, and then off that for at least 6 weeks, until the wedding I'm trying to lose some weight for, because I don't fit in any of my dresses and Ill be damned if I'm buying a size 16 dress!
We've been out on dog walks and cycle rides all weekend, and I'm trying not to eat too much junk.
Thanks for letting me join in :)

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 03/11/2019 14:46

🎉🎉🎉 8 st 9.6 this morning! My WW app tells me I’ve lost 5.6lbs since mid Sept which seems so long ago but seeing as I’m in the middle of the normal weight range, I’m totally taking the slow and steady win. Going to keep cracking on as I’d love to lose another 5lbs or so. Smile

buzzofthebumblebee · 03/11/2019 16:04

Oops. I consumed-back my exercise calories and more in wine last night. Back to it today, and hopefully off then for rest of the month. I've got an outfit I need to get back into in 8 weeks kelper. It was too expensive for me to have to replace this year ..

fallfallfall · 03/11/2019 17:21

I’ve just recalculated my oatmeal breakfast to discover an additional 100 calories!!! My trusty go to breakfast will need to be tweaked. 1/2 cup of oats is 150 calories, I use 1/3 of a cup....had been entering it as 50 calories.

AreYouSiriusLupin · 03/11/2019 17:38

Well done Mike! Star

As long as I don't wat anything else today (which I won't) come in at 1400 calories. Not an active day though as I ended up doing a night shift last night (as a favour- do not do them anymore) and in tonight as well. Feel dreadful. I used to do constant nights and honestly, I had forgot how dreadful I feel on the 4 hours sleep I manage on the day. I feel hungover without the added bonus if having an alcohol Grin

Just need to get through tonight.

fallfallfall · 03/11/2019 17:48

Areyou, as a (retired) nurse of 30+ years, I remember the feeling all too well.
Positive thoughts the shift and meal planning goes well.
My memories however include lots of nibbling throughout the shift to stay awake and somewhat pleasant. Followed by nausea and total confusion as to what I needed in subsequent days.

aleC4 · 03/11/2019 17:51

Hi can I join you all please?
I have tried this weight loss thing so many times before but I really need to do something this time.
I got on the scales this morning and nearly died when I saw the figures , I've never weighed more. 😔 I need to shift at least 4 stone.
We have made a pledge as a family to get fitter and healthier. Ds is 14 and a bit overweight, dd is 12 and slim but has a crap diet as she is so fussy!
We have all agreed to cut out sugary foods and fatty stuff and do some form of e revise every day. There is really only wednesdays when that is not possible.
Please help me to not cave!

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 03/11/2019 18:57

Thank you @AreYouSiriusLupin
I work shifts too and nights are HORRIFIC. Totally mess me up for days afterwards and I do them every week so I always feel on the verge of revolting. Best of luck resisting the sweets and junk tonight.
