Lose in November

Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s November’s thread. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which undoubtedly underpins healthy eating habits and lifestyle. That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Wow, only 66 days until 2020. So much can be achieved in that time and we could be greeting the New Year with renewed optimism, feeling happier and somewhat healthier.

Sorry pressed post too soon! I hope your new job goes well and you manage to get into a routine that works better for you.

kelper · 31/10/2019 19:31

Thank you AreYouSirius, I don't mind the odd night shift that my new job has, but my old job seemed to go out of their way to give as many nights as they could get away with, or weird combos of days and nights so you never knew what day you were on!!
Hope you feel a bit better tomorrow :)

DownUdderer · 01/11/2019 05:57

Working nights must be tough!

I’m hoping to reach 10st 7 this month. Loosing my muffin top would be amazing!

chutneypig · 01/11/2019 06:47

Morning everyone. I’ve flitted about the threads earlier in the year but October was a little hectic and I lost a bit of focus.

I weighed in 61.7kg this morning. I’ve got another couple to lose but it’s proving tough. I use MFP and try and stick to 1500 as I exercise a fair bit and any less hits my energy and I end up bingeing.

I’m also steering clear of dairy at the moment as I had a realisation last week that the amounts I was eating were creeping up and it doesn’t agree with me. I cut it out completely a few years ago so think being strict should help there.

Here’s to a good month for us all.

BustedDreams · 01/11/2019 07:20

Happy 1st November:) ‘Tis the season of the Brussels Sprouts... my fav veg. Buttered, roasted, steamed, I don’t care as long as I can get them in my gob Grin

Hope you got more treats than tricks if you did Halloween 👻

This year is flying by. 60 days until New Years Eve and 2020. This months challenge for me is to be firmly under 10 stone. I’ve been under twice recently but it hasn’t stuck. Sounds doable but the last bit of weight is always more stubborn to shift. I’ll do my best and won’t beat myself up if I fall short. That’s all any of us can do. Do your best. Everyday. Depending on what’s happening in your life that can just mean getting you and the kids washed & dressed and getting out the door each morning. Life’s hard enough as it is. Choosing to eat well and administer self care is to enhance life and not make your life harder. Be kind to yourself and the rest will follow.

Welcome @kelper you’ll like it here, the ladies are very supportive & lovely. Baby steps and you’ll get there!

@buzzofthebumblebee I posted some links about self sabotage at the end of October’s thread. They might be useful and help you avert disaster.

Wishing us all a successful November 🙏

Morning all, I've started a weekly weigh in thread of anyone wants to join me on there too. I'm hoping showing the numbers on the scales will give me the same incentive and accountability that I got from going to a weekly group without all the happy clapping 🤣

Anyway, HAPPY NOVEMBER! Feeling motivated and ready to get started today!

Weighed in at 13st 9lbs

Mungomango · 01/11/2019 07:58

Happy November everyone! Hope we all get to meet our targets. My November is off to a slow start. I weighed in at one pound less and celebrated by eating chocolate and drinking wine, I'm so stupid. Hoping I haven't sabotaged things too much.

AreYouSiriusLupin · 01/11/2019 08:34

Happy November!

BlueEyedFloozy where can I find your thread? I will hop on the scales today and join you on there!

SunshineCake · 01/11/2019 12:36

Afternoon all.

Busy busy again but wanted to get on the thread, say hello and say good luck for the month.

Not sure my plan yet so will just plod on. Emotionally I have stuff to deal with so food will become fuel hopefully and not feeding feelings.

Cathy31 · 01/11/2019 13:30

Hi everyone, mind if I join? I'm so impressed by what people achieve on these threads, and how supportive everyone is. I'm trying to shift about 1stone after my second pregnancy, would like to be most of the way there by new year but have no idea if that's realistic! And I'm breastfeeding, which makes me so hungry! Trying basically to eat lots of veg, drink lots of water, and to eat proper meals rather than snacking. This is harder than it should be, as I have two under two Smile

cheesenpickles · 01/11/2019 14:36

Jumping on this one with a slightly clearer mind. I ended October on 159lbs. Would love to hit 152lbs by the time December rolls round. I'm sticking to intermittent fasting, trying to do low carb but not being super strict with it.

buzzofthebumblebee · 01/11/2019 15:35

Officially starting November at 12 stone 12. Want to get to the 11s asap. Not sure what my November goal will be. 2lbs/week - so 12 stone 4 ?

BustedDreams · 01/11/2019 15:52

@Mungomango don’t let your slip up turn into a full on tide turn. You can do this! Do it for you and visualise how it feels when something feels a little looser 😊

@SunshineCake you can do this! Sorry to hear you’ve a bit on emotionally. I hope it soon settles. Try and remember how far you have come!

@Cathy31 welcome :) You’ve come to the right place. This is a supportive none competitive thread.

@cheesenpickles sounds like a great plan!

@buzzofthebumblebee Depending on how you intend to lose, 2lbs a week does seem reasonable. Do you have a clear plan?

On Thursday On Chanel 5 is a programme called Lose a Stone by Christmas. I love watching these type of programmes to aid motivation even if I’m not eating the way they promote. I always seem to pick up tips or have my own ways reaffirmed. Might be worth a watch.

Mungomango · 01/11/2019 17:12

@BustedDreams thanks for your support. You're such a help to us all. That programme sounds good, I love getting new tips too 😀. I've got a busy day here with kids sports but I'm going to make sure I go for a short run tonight (I haven't run in a couple of months so that should be fun!)

Foreverlexicon · 01/11/2019 18:19

Wow this thread has really kicked off, will need to skip back and have a catch up!
Halloween fondue yesterday went better than expected. I did have a fair amount of cheese but lots of veg and not that much bread. No dessert either!

Good day foodwise today;
Breakfast - Diet bar
Lunch - roast veg pesto pasta salad and some chicken satay (had to buy lunch and not much choice!)
Dinner will be enchiladas and salad
Chocolate mousse to finish
Comes to about 1600 cals

Had a few bites of fruit whilst preparing Waldorf salad for tomorrow but I’ll let myself off that!

Not done much on the exercise, had a training day at work so didn’t really move much and just took the horse for a plod.

AreYouSiriusLupin · 01/11/2019 20:49

Just posted on the weigh in thread. I am 15 stone. 15 bloody stone. And to make matters worse I have put on over a stone in the last 2 months!

Feels bloody impossible at the moment. I have no idea how I have let this happen. Feel really truly angry at myself right now. I have at least 5 stone to lose Shock and I am only a short arse average height!

FiveShelties · 01/11/2019 21:17

Back in NZ after a month in the UK, sadly with excess baggage - although not as much as usual. I gained 4.2 pounds after eating out almost every day and a vat of red and white wineGrin

Weighed in at 10st 2.2lbs and my aim is to get below 10 stone again. Going to drink more water and much less wine and track my food again. Means more when I can see it written down.

Have a fantastic November everyone.

BustedDreams · 01/11/2019 21:29

Wow @FiveShelties that has passed so quickly. Welcome back! I’d count your weigh in as a success especially after 5 weeks away. You’ll soon get into the groove again.

@AreYouSiriusLupin you’ve made a start in the right direction. I had a similar moment when I faced my increasing weight and got on the scales. I was so utterly shocked it gave me the impetus to turn it round. And I have in the main. Just the last pesky 3/4 stone or so won’t bloody budge. Not giving up though. The way I eat is a way of life and not a diet. That way I know it sustainable. You can do it too!

@Foreverlexicon how do you make your fondue. The one time I had a go, it didn’t come out right and never attempted it again. I think I used the wrong cheese. Enjoy your plod Lady Plod Grin

@Mungomango you are very welcome.

So far I've had my Friday Wine but avoided Cheeky Extra Beer. I did nibble a few Halloween leftovers though Blush

They're mini packets so not too much...

Meeting friends again at the weekend... Must resist the cake 😅

FiveShelties · 01/11/2019 21:46

@BustedDreams thank you so much for your kind words. It did go quickly, but it is good to be home and I am enjoying seeing the spring sunshine.

AreYouSiriusLupin · 01/11/2019 22:39

Thanks BustedDreams. Massive well done to you on changing the way you eat and viewing it as a lifestyle change, not a diet. I think this must be incredibly hard and something I aspire to do! I am hoping I wake up feeling more positive tomorrow.

That's really good going FiveShelties. I would definitely be pleased with that weigh in! You did really well not to gain more whilst away for a month.

FlatheadScrewdriver · 01/11/2019 23:29

Hello inspiring people (that's all of you, btw) Five days since the gulp of weigh in and starting to try and get a grip. Doing more or less OK, but need some new recipes as already a bit bored. Just need to survive the end of half-term and the kids' procrastinated homework then I must summon energy and re-stock the cupboards. Went for a long walk yesterday, and a good run (for me, slow for others!) today which has also helped my asthma, so a win there. Really appreciate being able to check in here to keep me honest.

Doing "Dinovember" for the kids (where the toy dinosaurs do something silly each night for DC to find) and the accidental side effect is it takes me so long to sort out that it really cuts down on snacking time Grin

DownUdderer · 01/11/2019 23:58

I’m going to eat a tiny bit more today than I normally do, my body responds well to this. Not much, but a bit more. Last time I did this I broke a plateau.
