Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s November’s thread. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which undoubtedly underpins healthy eating habits and lifestyle. That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

I'm feeling out of it as don't understand kilos and kilometres.

Welcome aleC4.

I walked my dog twice today and didn't stop all morning with jobs and being up and down the stairs. Only 9560 steps though. Need to do better. Last Thursday was good as I did 12412 and Monday was even better with 14542 steps. Food wise I'm eating when I want and genuinely seem to be just when I am hungry but I have a chat with myself if I feel it is potentially feelings hunger. Fairly new is my feeling of needing food for energy.

I didn't weigh this morning and I am determined not to until Friday.

Have a good week everyone.

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/11/2019 20:08

Well done @MikeHannigansStripyShirt and welcome @aleC4

What a bummer @fallfallfall

There's 2.2lbs in a kg but don't worry about it. As long as it's going down @sunshinecake Wink

Hope you're OK @BustedDreams

I've managed: exercise, taken tablets, low gluten, 8 different fruit and veg and closed my eating window after 8 hours. Glad to be back on it!

Mungomango · 03/11/2019 20:59

Hi all, welcome @aleC4, I love the fact that you're doing it as a family. I think it's so important that the kids learn healthy eating habits from us. DS9 is great and will eat anything but DD8 is fussy and not that keen on veggies which can be tricky. DH is like me and eats healthily during the day but pigs out in the evenings on sweets and chocolates. I've trained myself over recent months not to join him and it's really benefited me. It's hard having so many sweet things in the house though, it would be so much easier if I could bin them all!

SunshineCake · 03/11/2019 21:46

Buy less? It's hard when one doesn't want to make any food bad and ridiculous that we treat ourselves with foods that are bad for our bodies but it is difficult at times.

aleC4 · 03/11/2019 22:36

Thanks for the welcomes.
I have been on half term this week (I'm a teacher) and have eaten and drank so much bad stuff.
It actually got to a point where I thought if someone gave me a big cake now I could not eat it.
My body just felt fill of crap and sugar. I felt bloated all the time.
That was a bit of a realisation hence why I got on the scales.
Tomorrow is going to be tricky as I'm on a course and lunch is provided. I will be as good as I can though.

DownUdderer · 04/11/2019 03:31

Welcome new people! Well done to everyone who is doing well at the moment. I’m 11st and I’m just dreaming of getting into the 10st weight bracket. I can’t wait!

I’ve had a lovely walk today.

fallfallfall · 04/11/2019 04:28

Down again slightly.
1220 for the day.
11,500 steps but no cardio whatsoever, all my walking was mainly on the flat.

chutneypig · 04/11/2019 05:13

Welcome @aleC4 - sounds a great plan and doing exercise together has got to be a good thing. Courses are a pain for throwing plans. I usually look and think what I’d like to eat and then cut it in half! I also try and sneak a healthy bar of something in the morning break so I’m not starving by lunch. I’m at a conference tomorrow so am taking a stash of bits.

I’m impressed at 8 fruit and veg @MrsJonesAndMe, it does feel good to be back on plan doesn’t it?

I’m struggling with my steps at the moment, I walk a lot in the evenings in the summer but can’t now. I feel like I’ve barely seen daylight at work the last week and this week won’t be any better. I take vit d as I had huge trouble with very low levels a few years back but I miss the fresh air and stretching my legs.

Foreverlexicon · 04/11/2019 07:48

Morning everyone- sounds like everyone is getting off to a fantastic start for November!

Yesterday was pathetic on the step count, I had an office based day then went to the gf’s, I think I hit less than 5000 steps! Hey ho. I’m sure today will be better, I’m on a late shift and will ride the horse before that.

Food was good yesterday.
B - fruit and fibre cereal with extra dried fruit and nuts
S - grapes and pineapple
L - Waldorf salad
S - cappuccino
D - hunters chicken and salad and a teeny teeny square of brownie
Total: 1450

Faultymain5 · 04/11/2019 08:01

Good morning

Well wanted to lose 1lb last week to start the month on 10st 1lb, but I'm ill and my body was having none of the exercise and food plan I had planned.

I'm actually 10st 2 1/2lb. Oh hum

BustedDreams · 04/11/2019 09:00

Good Morning :)

Sorry I was mia yesterday. Had family visiting. Stayed to plan! Yesterday was omad as spent the morning prepping & taxiing. Late lunch about 15:30. Taxiing again then it takes me simply ages to clean up the devastated kitchen after my cooking. Early night.

Not weighed this morning as not ‘been’ Blush . I feel I’ve stayed the same, fingers crossed most definitely not up.

Welcome @aleC4, you’ll like it here Grin

Well done @MikeHannigansStripyShirt! Great weight!

Today’s menu is home made roasted tomato and red pepper soup with gluten free slice bread/butter. Omelette, salad and fine green beans, dollop of mayo. Greek yoghurt. Jug lemon water, 1 coffee with cream, white tea.

OAN had a Alexa Echo Dot bought me. Does anyone else have one? What do you find most useful. I told it ‘Good Night Alexa’ and it answered in kind! I also asked it when I’d be in a healthy bmi but Alexa didn’t know that Grin

Scales still aren't moving so think I need to take it back to basics after tonight. I've cracked our my trusty soup maker and going to start making a load of soups for dinner as they always fill me up.

Cathy31 · 04/11/2019 11:14

Chutneypig your menu sounds amazing! Totally agree with you about the exercise, always seems to set me up for a good day. I'm planning to start C25K again after my 6 week check, and to get out for a walk every day until then.

Yesterday was ok for me, lots of veggies, but I did have some unplanned chocolate after dinner. Today has started well, porridge and apple and a long hilly walk with the baby in the sling. But it's the late afternoon slump that usually gets me. Any tips on getting through that without a sugar hit would be very helpful!! Smile

SunshineCake · 04/11/2019 12:41

Hi everyone

Another busy morning. Walked my dog then lots of laundry done, hoovered, admin and now I'm having houmous and rye crackers and will then take doggy out for another walk. Dinner will be GF pasta with Mediterranean vegetables while the boys have fish fingers.

Didn't weigh myself. Hoping I'm not creeping up too much.

@Faultymain5 we are about the same weight.

SunshineCake · 04/11/2019 12:43

@Cathy31 have some water and tell yourself you can have sugary stuff in so many minutes if you still want it. Then when you think you still want it have another drink then pick a room and put ten things away. Keep going until it has passed..

Galvantula · 04/11/2019 16:02

@BustedDreams I got an echo dot when it was at its cheapest and it's 90% used for playing music 🙄

Ds1 bought his own and likes doing quizzes...

It's handy for setting hands free timers and alarms. I originally wanted it for the kitchen...but the DC went nuts asking it stupid questions instead of eating, so it for relegated to the playroom.

It is funny watching DD (4) asking Alexa to play her favourite songs though 😁

I've maintained same weight the last while, which entirely matches my average calorie intake last week.

MrsJonesAndMe · 04/11/2019 17:49

Hi all

Eating window closed for the day and think I've done well. 7 different veg, good protein and a few other bits along the way.

Also 2 mile walk in the sun, catch up with a friend, Vits taken and going to do yoga in a minute.

@Cathy31 I eat some of what I fancy and then I will tell myself no more. More or less successful since doing IF.

Hope you've all had a good day x

buzzofthebumblebee · 04/11/2019 20:06

Kitchen closed here, and I managed on just 2 meals which I am surprised at, as had quite a big workout this morning at bootcamp. Went to work meetings, and ended up having my lunch - prawns, salad leaves, celery, carrot sticks and red peppers - at gone 2pm. Just made lovely curry with chicken & veg leftovers from yesterday. Tikka paste and tomato-based. Did have spoon white rice with, which I probably shouldn't have done, but no other carbs today so not feeling too bad.

I didn't weigh this morning either - like cathy I had unplanned chocolate too last night Blush.

buzzofthebumblebee · 04/11/2019 20:12

Forgot to say @Cathy31 that given you're breastfeeding, and have mid-afternoon slump, you probably actually need a decent snack. Guilt free. Yoghurt and berries? Sliced apple and cashew nut butter (but you may be avoiding nuts). Carrot sticks and hummus? Or an oatcake and spread of cream cheese.

These would all be my go-to snacks, but I have no off switch. And if a pot of hummus is open, or a packet of oatcakes, I can't ever stop at the one. So I just don't even start. I make do with glass of water, or cuppa Wink - in theory anyhow

SunshineCake · 04/11/2019 20:28

Over 80 types of houmous have been recalled so everyone should check theirs.

Galvantula · 04/11/2019 21:14

@sunshine I'm considering making my own houmous - we've not done it for a while.... DH said there wasn't much to choose from at the supermarket the other day!

SunshineCake · 04/11/2019 21:57

I have made it twice from two different recipes. The first time it was inedible, the second time amazing.

FlatheadScrewdriver · 04/11/2019 22:18

First week scales faced and two pounds off, so I'm pleased with that overall - but it was a bit sobering how tough the week was, so how far from sensible eating I had drifted! Anyway, onwards.

Severe lack of half term childcare meant not much exercise and going a bit stir crazy, so I tried a YouTube video last night of indoor running - for something that was basically running on the spot while someone talked (and mysteriously never got out of breath) it was surprisingly strenuous and after half an hour I was properly "glowing" Grin I won't say it was the most interesting thing I've ever done but you know, it was free and meant I got some exercise!

Back to work and school today so hoping to get back into a routine of sorts.

Foreverlexicon · 05/11/2019 01:01

Better on the steps today but only because I rode and Fitbit duesnt know the difference 😂 but frankly it is what it is on work days. There’s only so many hours in the day.

Light on calories today but also light on nutrients..I was a bit down before work as having some relationship issues and then didn’t have time to have dinner at work so jur had some toast when I got in as never fancy a proper meal just before bed.

B - oats so simple bar
L - fruit and fibre cereal
S - special K cereal bar
D - toast with peanut butter and jam
Total: 1150
Hell tomorrow I might try a vegetable Hmm

Mungomango · 05/11/2019 02:45

Reasonable day for me here. It's stinking hot which made it easier to eat less. Lots of carrot sticks, cucumber and apple.

Done my 10,000 steps which is a result. Tomorrow I'm going to do some yoga as I can feel my back seizing up.

No weight loss yet this week but I'm working on it! Have a good day everyone x
