Lose lbs in September

Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s Septembers. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to August’s Thread

I will continue to:-

  • follow a low carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fast IF
  • Calorie Count
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

I am going to carry on with 2-3 meals a day with no snacks.
No alcohol.
Stick to not eating anything I am intolerant but do better in case the odd thing has slipped through.
Cut down on sugar as much as possible.
Use the exercise bike at least once a day for 30 minutes and stop when I've had enough.
Stop obsessing with how many calories I burn on the bike and how long I use it for.
Try and support everyone else and remember to thank you all for your kindness.

BustedDreams · 27/08/2019 14:14

In the initial post I meant to have included that I’m not saying how I do things is the right way. However from experience I know it works for me. We are all different, with different metabolisms, health issues/concerns, age, activity etc.

There isn’t a one side fits all when it comes to healthy eating and weight loss. You’ll know what works for you! I realise the ‘knowing’ doesn’t always lead to the ‘doing’. We all know how life, jobs, celebrations, commiserations, holidays etc can become obstacles. I think I speak for all of us that we can on occasion ‘eat our feelings’, just nothing else will cut it! Being fallible is just part of the human condition. Just don’t be to hard on yourselves if you succumb.

I’m pleased you’re still with us @SunshineCake 😊

Thanks @BustedDreams you've been marvellous!

I'm aiming to lose a stone to bring me to a healthy BMI not sure it's do-able but I would be happy with anything over 8lbs.

As I'm still breastfeeding I just want to concentrate on good nutrition. Sustainable, putting fruit and veg at the centre of every meal. One or two small treats a week. As much activity as I can but minimum 3x a week of a dynamic yoga class. Annoyingly I've still got pelvic girdle pain from a hellish pregnancy so I can't do much high impact.

🙌👊

Foreverlexicon · 27/08/2019 15:14

Place marking.

I willbe continuing with meal replacements for breakfast and lunch apart from when I’m socialising. Not entirely sure how well it’s working as I’ve had a heavy couple of weekends and not really had a chance to weigh but i’ll keep plugging!

cheesenpickles · 27/08/2019 16:19

Place marking. I'm sticking with 20:4 IF and flip flopping with keto/low-carb. It's sticking under 20gs of carbs I'm struggling with a touch so best to call it low carb maybe. Grin

Cary2012 · 27/08/2019 17:04

Thank you @BustedDreams for the new thread, I was hoping there would be one! I aim to keep on with the fairly low carb 1200 cals a day, and continue with the no sugar. Would like to lose 5lbs in September. Have lost 7lb so far in August. I aim to resist all the unhealthy snacks that a return to to school staffroom will bring next week. Wonderful support on here, I am so grateful to you all.

Adollop · 27/08/2019 17:29

Thank you for starting a new thread.

I'll be continuing with fairly normal eating logging everything on MFP. I'm cutting down on chocolate and crisps, but allowing myself the odd treat whilst trying to stay within my allowance. I've at least two stone to lose and I'm expecting it to be difficult as I'm menopausal.

Hiphopopotamus · 27/08/2019 17:33

I’d love to join please! I’ve lurked on your past two threads but I’d like to be a more active participant of this one. I’ve currently got a lot of weight to lose - I’m 2 and a half stone into a 6 stone goal! I’d love to be another half a stone at least down by the end of September. I’m strictly calorie counting on the ‘lose it’ app and trying to step up my exercise but it’s a slow process. Because I have so much to lose I’m trying to do it fairly sensibly rather than crash diet.

galvantula · 27/08/2019 18:14

Marking my place for later! I've not been doing great at losing, but I've not gained anything which I'm seeing as a plus compared to the last 12 months or so.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 27/08/2019 23:07

Place marking! Sticking with Slimming World, and aiming for another 7lbs in September. 😊

Chickenitalia · 27/08/2019 23:46

Back on it for September! Hello again everyone. July saw me lose 6lbs which was fab, then August I had 3 weeks of family commitments and holidays and so gaining only 1lb was great. Have since lost that, plus another, and so finally at the end of August I’ve reached my original half stone goal. Being realistic, 1lb a week is where I’m at now. I have 3 weeks until a trip to Italy and would like to be under 10 stone at that point. Monday is my weigh in day and I was 10st 2lbs this Monday.

My method: 100 cal breakfast, 200 cal exante bar for lunch, proper dinner aiming for around 100g of protein and lots of veg, or 60g pasta and lots of veg. 100 cal toast for supper and 100 cal for crisps (love them). Overall it works out at 1200 a day and this has been ok so far.

Might toy with starting the Shred on weekdays once the kids go back to school. Now the worst of it is off, it won’t be so bad!

TimeToGetMeBack · 27/08/2019 23:51

Can I join? I've recently joined the gym and I'm aiming to do 4-5 classes a week plus home workouts. This will change when schools go back as I'll change my classes.

MrsJonesAndMe · 28/08/2019 06:36

Hi, count me in. I'll take as much as I can off. Aiming for IF most days, eating as best I can. Yoga daily. Contemplating doing a mainly GF month and also possibly dusting off trainers for C25K.

You've all been amazing support x

SunshineCake · 28/08/2019 07:00

Thank you BustedDreams. I've posted on the August thread a little win, I think..

Mammyloveswine · 28/08/2019 07:23

Joining please! Stuffed my face over summer and none of my clothes fit Blush would like to loss a stone in September and another in October!

Got the Fast800 and pinch of nom recipe book so planning on a bit of a mash up of slimming world with the principles of the fast800.

Have also completed 6 weeks of couch to 5k su going to continue running 3 times a week at least. Also need to cut the wine. Have had a disgusting amount lately.

crushingonpacey · 28/08/2019 07:50

I would like to join please!!

I plan to stick with my low carb/low sugar and the odd 24 hour fast day here and there.

If I managed to lose a stone by Christmas I will be sooooo happy!!

But I also want to feel fit and strong so plan to do a weights workout everyday, and cardio where I can (pelvic floor are shot to pieces after having a baby 6 months ago so cycling is my only option here and I can only do this when my husband is off work)...

BustedDreams · 28/08/2019 08:02

Good Morning you lovely lot. It’s nice to see people get on board.

@Chickenitalia I’m with you on about aiming for about 1lb a week loss. We are similar weights and have had similar journeys so far. I made great progress July. Not so much in August. I bounced the same couple of lbs up/down. Nothing was sticking.

A warm welcome to our newcomers @crushingonpacey @Mammyloveswine @TimeToGetMeBack @Hiphopopotamus as well as our regulars @SunshineCake @MrsJonesAndMe @galvantula @Chickenitalia @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa @Adollop @doadeer @Cary2012 @cheesenpickles @Foreverlexicon ... sorry if I’ve missed anyone.

Can I join?! I'd like to lose about half a stone so not loads but I love having the support to keep being good!
The start of September is a bit screwed as it's my 30th birthday on Sunday Smile So I have a couple of weekends of indulgence, my actual birthday weekend and then the weekend after I have a girls weekend away to celebrate!!
BUT in general, I am doing 16:8 and finding it fairly easy! I eat between 12pm-8pm and generally try and only have carbs in one of my meals.
Also trying to cut back on sugar and limit alcohol to weekends!

Laura221 · 28/08/2019 08:40

Hi, I'm going to try again but it wont be until the 4th that I really get strict then we are on holiday on the 22nd so I only have a good couple of weeks to really shake some weight off. I'm going to aim for 3lbs I think.

SunshineCake · 28/08/2019 09:42

@Hiphopopotamus - I've just down loaded the Lose it app you mentioned as being able to take photos of the food and it tell me the calories will work better for me I think. I have found it a bit tricky logging breakfast and my exercise but I am sure it will become easier.

Hiphopopotamus · 28/08/2019 10:49

@SunshineCake I really like it! It suits me, especially as I tend to eat a lot of the same meals for breakfast and lunch. The app saves your meals so instead of having to log each item of food individually you can just go to your previous saved meals and add the whole thing in.

thisonebreath · 28/08/2019 15:38

Hello, in in from Friday. It's the last day of my holiday, I fly home tomorrow. Am going to weigh myself on Friday morning.

I did try dieting earlier in the year, but was still breastfeeding quite a lot and was constantly ravenous. I know I must have gained about another half a stone since then as well. Angry

I will be cutting out snacks, seconds, sweets and cutting back (not out) carbs.

Knitclubchatter · 28/08/2019 15:42

I need to refocus. Sept 1 sounds great.

SunshineCake · 28/08/2019 22:06

@Hiphopopotamus I am going to sleep shortly so no rush today but would you mind taking a look at my post on the August thread please. I am stuck. Thank you.

SunshineCake · 29/08/2019 06:56

Morning all

Hope everyone is well

I've had tears already but I am determined not to let why I was upset take over the day.

Weigh and measured. 1.6lbs off and one inch off my middle ShockSmile.

No idea how. I've not had chocolate for about three days, I am not snacking and making sure I eat enough at each meal so I don't need to or make bad choices. I walked the dog for 90 minutes in the morning and an hour in the afternoon plus went on the exercise bike twice totalling about 45 minutes.

Have a good day everyone Smile.
