Lose lbs in September

Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s Septembers. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to August’s Thread

I will continue to:-

  • follow a low carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fast IF
  • Calorie Count
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Hi all!!

I'm over from the August thread. In the end my final weigh in this morning was 1lb down on the month, but I suspect it was actually more like 2lb as that was what I was weighing for a week or so before.

I have new found enthusiasm for this month. I just put the weight I want to lose (7lb) into a rucksack (using a dumbell) and carried it around for a while to remind myself how much energy it takes just carrying that extra weight.

Did Parkrun this morning as well, which always makes me happy (even though I found it really tough!)

MrsJonesAndMe · 31/08/2019 16:41

Such great results! And a special mention to @dancingmom for loss and birthday Cake - hope you've had a great meal!

Went fruit picking which the children loved. Just about to pull together a roast. and then close my eating window. Did 17: 7 1/2 today.

Catch up with you all tomorrow x

Laura221 · 31/08/2019 17:23

Wow really impressive losses everyone!!

I'm full of motivation at the moment and have made some good choices today :)

DrDiva · 31/08/2019 20:37

Congratulations for the amazing losses being logged!

Today it was easy not to eat much. Forgot to have breakfast, then we went to a National Trust place - it was rather lovely, but the pea and mint Scotch egg really wasn’t. Shock so I didn’t really eat until tonight, and didn’t feel like it.

In other news, our new washing machine has broken down for the second time in six months (bought it in February). And we have just started using a bed wetting alarm for DS, resulting in rather a lot of washing. I’m KNACKERED, which doesn’t help the wanting to snack. So today was great, but fingers crossed I can keep it up tomorrow as I am on bedroom floor duty tonight (we are alternating).

Pinkvici22 · 31/08/2019 22:42

I’m in! Gained 7lbs since my summer holiday, have a birthday in just over 4 weeks and aiming for 7-10lbs off.

FiveShelties · 31/08/2019 23:17

Oh wow - this thread is so quick, I cannot keep up.

Happy September to everyone!

Weigh in for 1st September is 10st 0.6pounds which means a massive weight loss of 1.6 pounds for August. It was my birthday on 27th and four meals out did not help at the end of the month.

Aim for this month is to be under 10 stone and stay there. More water, more steps, less wineGrin.

Knitclubchatter · 01/09/2019 05:40

i'm in canada so my weigh in will be later in the day.
my goal for this month is to get to/below 149 lbs, a silly small hurdle since the end of april!
i plan to do this by counting my calories and walking (my exercise).

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 01/09/2019 06:33

Good Morning Lovelies. I'm officially off plan this weekend as it is my daughters birthday. I could have gone out last night and made "the right choices" but quite frankly, I didn't want to. I've done that for six weeks now, right through the hols, and have the stone weight loss to show for it. 😊😊😊

I'm having brunch with a friend today, and then a birthday tea, and then tomorrow it's back to work and right back on plan. I've done some food prep for evening meals but need to do some for lunches this week today. Lunches will mainly be salad with different dressings (have some skinnysauce ones) and some crustless quiche. I'll also be taking some chicken kebabs, flavoured fat free yogurt, and syn free jelly to work - as before the summer holidays, when I returned from a long absence I was completely ravenous, and I want to be prepared for that.

First weigh in of Sept will be on Saturday AM and I'm hoping for another 2lbs off.

Good Luck Everyone, "old" faces and new! It's a fantastic thread. 👍🏻

BustedDreams · 01/09/2019 06:59

Happy Start to September Everyone 😊.

Sorry, just a quick post again as off to the seaside for the next few days (still renovating the cottage). I will be hopefully be so busy painting and walking dogs I’ll lose a bit. I would like to return 1lb - 2lb less!

I hope to get some time once in car travelling to read up on thread and respond.

Wishing you all a great month! Hope you achieve all your goals and aspirations you have set for yourselves. There is something uplifting and motivating about a brand new sparkly month! This month especially, what with the children returning to school and it’s the start of Autumn too. Have fun!!

Really good wishes to everyone for September.

My official 1 Sept weight this morning - 191.8 so my goal is 185 by the end of the month. Fingers crossed!

chutneypig · 01/09/2019 07:29

Morning all!

This morning saw me at 63.2 kg, 1.5 up from the start of August. I’m a little disappointed as I’d managed well to maintain at least until the last week. But it’s a new month and no pesky work trips to disrupt things. I’m aiming for 0.5 kg a week so I’m down as much as possible for my half marathon on the last weekend. And hopefully a little lighter for my half next weekend.

My aim is 1500 a day, logging everything and keeping 80% as unprocessed and nutritious as possible. 10,000 steps per day minimum and as many Les Mills sessions I can fit in. I weigh in everyday as I find it keeps me on track.

Enjoy the seaside @BustedDreams!

Looking forward to checking in with you all, I found it a huge help in July.

MrsJonesAndMe · 01/09/2019 07:44

Morning all!

Day 1 of GF eating here: Ice cream while out, chicken salad for lunch, steak & veggies for tea, home made pavlova

I'm really pleased I stuck to my eating window last night as I was upset and normally I'd turn to food.

Wow, which I could run like that @chutneypig

Have a lovely/busy few days @busteddreams

cheesenpickles · 01/09/2019 08:04

Morning, I'm a lb off this morning so still losing that water weight and all the 25k step days obviously kicking in now. Get to pick up my new 29" waist jeans today Grin

MarvelMum3 · 01/09/2019 08:32

Happy September everyone!!

I am back after disappearing from the August thread - ended up having lots of family stuff happen which I want bore you with but it's getting better Grin only lasting thing is my OH being off work with either sciatica/slipped disc meaning I am currently getting a lot less help with baby and housework than I was, which obviously coincides to baby being super clingy and only sleeping on me!

But everything happening does mean that I was surviving solely on crappy food and far too much cheese and chocolate in my life! And when I weighed myself this morning I was 124kg, so I actually ended up putting on about 3kg in the last couple of weeks Sad but this has only given my more motivation to get back on the right track! Especially as I have two weddings to attend in November and I would to feel just a little bit more confident in myself for those events!

Plan of action:
Go back to drinking 3l of water a day
Eat 3 meals a day - no grazing!
Get active - lots of walks with baby and doing a Pilates video 3 X week!
Not drop off the face of the planet and use this thread as motivation and accountability!

Daisyjane78 · 01/09/2019 08:42

After being off work for 8 weeks (a mix of school holidays and time off for a hysterectomy) i have somehow ballooned so planning on returning to slimming world, getting back into daily walks to work and some swimming to start me off. Want to lose at least a stone by the end of October. Good luck everybody!

galvantula · 01/09/2019 09:49

Morning all and hope we all have a healthy September.

I've had a mini whoosh this morning, so down from 61.5kg / 9st 9.6 to 61.1kg/ 9st 8.7.

Last night featured some weekend beer/wine/small bar of chocolate indulgence, so will try to make today better!

I've told the family we're going out for a big walk today, there were a few eye rolls but I think we'll go eventually Grin

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 01/09/2019 09:50

Just checking in... sigh. Need a boot up the bum to get going.

ChipInTheSugar · 01/09/2019 10:38

Weighing in for September at 14st 5lbs.
I've done Fast800 for 6 days so far and lost 3lbs. I need to lose at least 2stone in the 12week program.

Parsley65 · 01/09/2019 13:33

Hello everyone.
I'm new and want to lose at least two stone (though not all in September!)
I plan to start by cutting right down on food generally, as my portion sizes are 'generous' and I don't seem to have an off button.
Good luck everyone Grin

MrsJonesAndMe · 01/09/2019 14:33

Ah, massive auto pilot fail - was going to have an ice cream on a stick, but ended up at Ben & Jerrys and got a waffle cone with brownie ice cream Hmm Guessing GF day 1 is tomorrow then!

Welcome back to some of the old faces rejoining e.g. @MarvelMum3
and all the new faces too. Back tonight for a proper post.

ChipsAreLife · 01/09/2019 14:38

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

I've weighed in at 10.8 this morning, I didn't eat much yesterday but had a few drinks so think I may be dehydrated as that's 1.5lb lose overnight.
But either way that's five lbs down i August which I'm chuffed with as been socialising a bit.

Am sticking to a six hour eating window today with 1300 cals and doing a workout tonight.

Also really focused on getting 10k steps in, trying to not sit down and keep myself busy in the house and with the kids is helping!

ChipsAreLife · 01/09/2019 14:39

@MrsJonesAndMe that sounds delicious!!! Best to start on a Monday anyway Smile

SunshineCake · 01/09/2019 15:07

Afternoon all

I'm feeling a little disheartened as I was up on the scales and some of your starting weights are lower than my finished weight plan.

I walked the dog for two hours to walk off my low mood and row I'd had with dh. Made snack biscuits for the kids, done for wash loads and lots of gardening. Going to make a roast lamb dinner now having just done 21 minutes on the exercise bike.

galvantula · 01/09/2019 17:29

sunshine My actual MFP starting weight 5 years ago was 16kg / 2 1/2 stone more than now.. It would have been loads more but I stubbornly refused to buy bigger clothes past a certain point, so when they got tight I had to make an effort. 😂

Once I lost the weight my PIL made some comment like "you've not been that slim for about 20 years" Thanks guys.. 🙄

After pregnancy I was even bigger tbh.

I just need to try and reverse the last years steady creep of weight going on.

I head a good breakfast and lunch and no snacks, DH made a massive peanut chicken stir fry with noodles for dinner though and I had a beer. Blush

My intake for the week is ok and I got us all out for a walk.

New week tomorrow...

cheesenpickles · 01/09/2019 17:37

Yeah my "original" starting weight was well into the 200lb mark. Don't get disheartened @SunshineCake Honestly, if you'd told me where if I was at now a few months ago I wouldn't have believed it for a second.
