Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s Septembers. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to August’s Thread

I will continue to:-

  • follow a low carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fast IF
  • Calorie Count
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Hi, can I join in. Need some motivation and something to distract me from wine. Weight has creeped up over the last 5 years and I need to get it under control. Been on meal replacements for breakfast and lunch for a week now. No alcohol. Looking to drop 3st and get back to the old me. Good luck everyone x

ChipsAreLife · 02/09/2019 19:58

@sunshine love this ... I absolutely love chips, and lasagne and garlic bread 😆! Well done for feeling more positive. I think most people have struggled with their weight or body image at one time so we are all in this together!

Welcome to all the newbies!

I've been good today, managed to fast for just over 20 hours as had early dinner yesterday and was so busy today. Had eggs and ryvita thins for lunch and then fajitas for dinner but only had one wrap and loads of veg after. Did a 50 min workout and burned over 600 cals too. I'm trying to be very good this week as have a party sat and then away mon-weds with work and then have a wedding next sat where I'm a bridesmaid 😬

Plan tomorrow is to the same but maybe have something healthier than fajitas!

WhatALearningCurve · 02/09/2019 20:44

Forgot to say before - trying to stick to 1200 calories or under each day.

Achieved it today so feeling positive about the rest of the week!

Yes @SunshineCake GF= gluten free. Some people/research thinking it's better to avoid gluten when you have thyroid issues. I'm going to try it for a while (this month at least)

I'm hungry now. Had a dinner fail as the chicken for the curry never came out of the freezer so had courgette "noodles" with mushroom, bacon and pesto while everyone else had pasta, sauce, cheese, bacon and garlic flat bread. Was lovely, but not massively filling. Ah well... curry tomorrow.

Keep going all! MH and weight/eating is linked for me too, so post away!

Knitclubchatter · 03/09/2019 04:50

it's been a steady day over here. i logged my meals the best i could (the salad included some leftovers from a previous meal, which made it difficult to enter) but no where near my daily limit so i am fine calorie wise.
activities included my walking and biking.
but it's only 8:45 pm over here and plenty of temptation, by the way i love love love food.
i've bottled, labeled and sold over 20 jars of honey :) and will be selling at my first market on wednesday.

Jollyholibobs · 03/09/2019 06:18

Weigh in this morning was 1.6lbs lighter than yesterday. I weigh every day. It works for me. Loss is probably mainly due to having eaten a lot of junk over the weekend so Mondays weight was a peak.
Stuck to 1200 calories even though I was in London and didn’t take lunch so had to buy something. Did session in the gym.

Will take a homemade salad to work today.
Have PT gym session booked again this evening.

Have a lovely day everyone

Foreverlexicon · 03/09/2019 06:22

Well done everyone!
I had a good day yesterday and feeling more positive.

Won’t be exercising much this week - last week at training college so a bit of a funny week plus the horse has hurt her foot and when I was dealing with that she stood on my hand so I’m dealing with a rather poorly finger too! But will concentrate on getting my 10,000 steps in anyway

chutneypig · 03/09/2019 06:27

I’m a kg down this morning so thinking the same about the weekend @Jollyholibobs.

Good to be keeping busy @Knitclubchatter. Big day Wednesday then!

Hello @theneverendinglaundry! I love running, c2k was the best thing I ever did, what week are you on?

BustedDreams · 03/09/2019 06:43

Good morning you lovely lot 😊

@SunshineCake you don’t need to apologise lovie. We are all here to support each other. Anyways mental health is intrinsically connected to weight & weight loss. They go hand in hand. When we feel better about ourselves, we naturally look after ourselves better.

You’re in safe hands 🤲

Food wise. Strangely I’m craving fresh vegetables sautéed in butter 😋

Just a quick post. On the brush ... still painting ... I could be some time!

123.7kg this morning (300g loss)

Going to try and weigh myself a little bit more often to keep myself on track otherwise I find that even over a week the weight can creep on! I do find it a little difficult to try and get an accurate picture of my weight at the moment though as I drink so much water when baby wakes up at night to stop me reaching for the chocolate!

I have been really active the last couple of days which has been great, walking for at least 3 miles a day. Good for me and baby to get out of the house and as long as I don't get the bus back home it's just over half a mile uphill! 🙈

Food has been ok, just not three square meals like I hoped! Yesterday's lunch was coffee and burger king and then I didn't eat anything until 10pm where I had some toast before bed - so not ideal but did still manage to keep it around 2000 calories! Baby's reflux has been terrible the last few days and it's gotten to the point where she can't go on her back for more than ten minutes so I've had a baby glued to me for the best part of 48 hours - thank god for the sling! The only positive of this being that I can't really snack when she's awake as she wants to be held! 😅

It been interesting to see how different me and my OH are with food when we're stressed. I tend to keep myself do busy I forget to eat whereas he comfort eats big style - not only was it his request for burger king, he polished off a whole packet of biscuits during the afternoon!

cheesenpickles · 03/09/2019 07:21

Morning all. I'm in at another 1.3lbs off this morning which is amazing. I've been expecting totm bloat but none such yet. I was a lot stricter yesterday but movement wise wasn't great. Didn't hit 10k steps. Today the kids are both at home so not sure how that'll play out with exercise. Hope you all have a good day. Smile

cheesenpickles · 03/09/2019 07:34

I've a got a goal directly linked to my life insurance that means I get loads of points if I lose 5lbs before the 26th. It'll be tough (and probably jinxed because of all the big wooshes I've been having already) but I'd REALLY like to hit that goal a few days beforehand.

SunshineCake · 03/09/2019 07:53

@MrsJonesAndMe - I have to be gluten free as well as lactose with a few more items I have to avoid as I suffer if I don't. I think it is a big reason I put two stone on and looked eight months pregnant while not eating differently and still fitting in to my clothes. I am being very inventive with my meals and some combinations are very interesting Grin.

Thank you @BustedDreams. I have brought myself up properly so do want to say thank you. The food thing is right. Sometimes I would want to eat and feel I couldn't as had enough, too fat, not hungry but then I would panic if dh said no or I said no. I am convinced a throw back to not being fed as a kid. I never knew when I would get a meal made. Quite often the foster people would go out for dinner and leave me at time. So exciting if a loaf of bread was open an about three quarters full so I could have a couple of slices and not be noticeable. I have learnt I have been eating my feelings too. Always said I comfort eat but eating feelings feels more appropriate and serious. Not belittling I mean.

I am 1.4 lbs down this morning.

SunshineCake · 03/09/2019 07:54

Good luck @cheesenpickles

cheesenpickles · 03/09/2019 08:03

@SunshineCake oh gosh that's horrible. ThanksSad Amazing loss!

Awittyusernameishardtofind · 03/09/2019 08:29

Sunshine cake, weight and MH are definitely linked. I suffer to and am going through a bad patch. You’re not bringing anyone down. It’s important to share if you need to. You’re doing great. Keep it up xx

SunshineCake · 03/09/2019 11:29

Thank you @Awittyusernameishardtofind.

Looking forward to a nice lunch then exercise biking later and probably a jacket potato with part topping that everyone else is having with enchiladas.

Parsley65 · 03/09/2019 14:23

Hi Sunshine and everyone else...
Day three for me and I'm getting re-acquainted with hunger pangs and learning to make friends with them, rather than constantly feeding the beast Blush
I squeezed into my cossie this morning and did some laps at the pool, so am feeling virtuous.
I would find it much easier to lose weight if I didn't have to plan, shop and cook family meals. I could live off muesli, fruit and salads Grin

SunshineCake · 03/09/2019 15:13

I am the same Parsley65. I would eat a lot healthier if I didn't have the kids. They used to be brilliant but now they are bigger there is a limit to what I can make them eat.

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/09/2019 18:11

Bit of a weird day. Craved sweet stuff and gave in a bit but still GF so success for day 2. Just about to close my window which will be 18: 6 1/2 so a bit wonky, but hey ho.

It's an odd feeling isn't it @Parsley65. I can be hungry and it's OK, the world doesn't stop spinning Grin

cheesenpickles · 03/09/2019 19:31

I'm inadvertently doing a 24 hour extended fast today because the toddler has been an absolute devil child. Honestly, I've been in tears today. Love the kids but sometime I'd love to just hide for a few hours. So decided it's a takeaway tonight, low carb style of course! Breaking my fast (eventually... in time for Bake Off!) with a Indian tandoori mixed grill, shami kebab and tonnes of lime pickle (who knew this beaut was low carb). Decided to walk to the takeaway (this mere steps from my house but usually we use Just Eat Blush) and it'll take a while so they've said they'll deliver it. Using it to try and get my step count past 10k. Very needed takeaway tonight for sure!

dancingmom · 03/09/2019 19:37

Sorry to be v quiet. Kids going back and getting everyone ready has just taken it out of me. Have been sticking to diet but no more losses since my birthdate at the weekend. I've started training again and my trainer wants me to up my cals to 1750 which feels like a lot after a strict month! But I'm doing as I'm told...

SunshineCake · 03/09/2019 20:18

Damn this bloody intolerance crap. Your dinners all sound delicious.

cheese - was it you who told me about the lose it app? Do you eat back the exercise calories? I am thinking not but looking my chart says

Budget 1318
Food. 1219
Exercise. -653
Net 566
Under 752

Not entirely sure what they all mean.

cheesenpickles · 03/09/2019 21:16

Not me but My fitness pal does. I try not to eat my exercise calories though. When I switched from a Fitbit to an Apple Watch the same activities had wildly different (like hundreds!) in burnt calories and now I don't trust them!

thisonebreath · 03/09/2019 21:18

Hello, it's been a busy few days. I've been back to work (teacher). DD1 started secondary! So I've not been on, but sticking to the no snacks/seconds/sweets and trying to eat between 11am & 7pm has meant a 3lb loss so far. I'll probably stall now.

Am on my phone so can't reply individually but congratulations on losses and hello to joiners. 😁
