Lose lbs in September

Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s Septembers. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to August’s Thread

I will continue to:-

  • follow a low carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fast IF
  • Calorie Count
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

I think I’ll be about 5lbs down last month! Not tooooo bad given I went away twice.

7lbs in September would be great but I’ll be very happy with 5 again - just over 1lb a week is ok.

Good luck for September everyone 😀

SunshineCake · 30/08/2019 10:24

I've plenty of still and sparkling water in and have found some sugar and aspartame lemonade I can have so I'm fine with no more coke.

Good luck to everyone today. I've just been out with the dog for 2 hours and now I'm getting on with housework. I'll go on the exercise bike after lunch as my plan now is to burn off breakfast and lunch on the bike.

boredboredboredboredbored · 30/08/2019 10:46

Thanks for the warm welcome. Been for my 5 mile run. Doing a low cal day today (no more than 1000kcal) as went slightly over yesterday. I only want to weigh in on the 1st of every month so will weigh September 1st. Have a good day all!

DrDiva · 30/08/2019 12:47

Oh here you all are! Just dropping in briefly to wave and say hello Smile

Will be back when I have a moment from running round after DS - we were out in the bikes for 2 hours this morning and now he wants to go swimming! He never stops Angry

Knitclubchatter · 30/08/2019 15:00

Hello, cleaning out the pantry and getting ready for a weigh in and careful food choices starting sept 1.

MrsJonesAndMe · 30/08/2019 15:08

Hi all, just checking in ready for September. 12 1/2lbs down and very pleased.

Welcome to all the new joiners and all the "old" faces too Smile

dancingmom · 30/08/2019 16:51

Crikey you've all been busy on here! Hello! So am going to cheekily count from when the last thread started and say I started at 13 stone 3 and now 12 stone 2 but officially we still have tomorrow 😂😂😂 so pretty happy. I'm guessing the next month will be slower. Will keep on with keto and exercise. Would love another stone this month and another dress size pretty please! 🙏🏻🤪 today had black coffee with cream, then steak and hollandaise for lunch with rocket and Parmesan. About to go and have courgette and chicken soup and will have dark choc later no doubt 😬

Cary2012 · 30/08/2019 17:03

@MrsJonesAndMe and @dancingmom Wow! Brilliant losses you two! Well done

BustedDreams · 30/08/2019 18:58

I had a great home made tomato soup for lunch. Had a small fish and chips just now. Still under 1000 calories for the day, so pleased about that.

That’s a great loss @nodtik! I totally agree that shifting the weight does get harder with age!

@cheesenpickles Smashing! The winter months can be more challenging as cravings for soothing comforting foods tend to increase. I find a hot broth or bovril type drink can hit the spot.

Pleased you have started to see progress @SunshineCake!

You can do it @OokSaidTheLibrarian dig deep, the will power and desire is in there.

@Cary2012 that’s an awesome loss. Over 7lbs. Impressive🌟

Good start @prettygreenteacup. Keep it up.

@IamHyouweegobshite 2lbs is not so bad. Have a good poo! Grin

@RiddleyW marvellous loss!

@ChipInTheSugar & @Enb76 welcome. Jump right it :)

@DrDiva @Knitclubchatter @MrsJonesAndMe @dancingmom (stone loss 😮) @ChipsAreLife nice to see you all on board.

Hope I haven’t missed anyone out. We have ourselves a lovely group here. Let’s see what we can achieve in the next 31 days (last day of August + 30 September days).

Heads up I might not get to post tomorrow as out very early and could be late back. Going to a Country Fair in another town. Have fun whatever you get up to!

A country fair sounds lovely. Dh might take ds2 🛶 and I expect ds1 and dd will be in their rooms most of the day so I'll be gardening and walking the 🐕.

I was doing some tidying today and found some milk chocolate raisins. I really want to have them but aren't supposed to as I'm intolerant to dairy.

My calorie budget is 1322. I have eaten 1064 calories and have 219 left but have burnt 1283 in exercise so my app says I'm under by 1541. I am not eating back my calories but I really want the raisins. Haven't had chocolate all week 😮

Kanga83 · 30/08/2019 19:21

I'd love to join please! I'm starting the Whole 30 diet tomorrow with vegan recipes. I'm currently the heaviest I've ever been. Also have asthma, endometriosis and pcos. I lost three stone a few years ago when trying to conceive by doing vegan low carb/low GI so using the whole 30 to kick start this as have got into very bad lazy habits. Dairy, Bread and pasta and flour makes me ill but I have a bad habit of grabbing toast, cereal and crackers plus chocolate of late and I need to get my health on track. Weighed myself today 15st 9, BMI 40!

MrsJonesAndMe · 30/08/2019 19:43

Have a lovely time @bustedDreams

Well done to all the losses - big or small, it's all moving in the right direction.

Foreverlexicon · 30/08/2019 19:50

Wow this thread is filling up already!
I was fairly restrained on date last night apart from sharing a tub of ice cream but stuck to it today and I’m hoping tomorrow’s weigh in will show SOME sort of a loss for the month even if it’s minor.

Not had a chance to catch up on everyone but hope everyone had/has successful months end weigh in!

chutneypig · 30/08/2019 21:00

Thanks for kicking this off again @BustedDreams

I fell off the August thread because of holidays and no Wi-fi. I’m keen to refocus in September.

I aim for 1500 calories a day with 50% carb and 25 each fat and protein split.

dancingmom · 31/08/2019 07:11

Morning all, it's my birthday today and my scales actually wished me happy birthday 😂😂 Another 1.1 lbs off bringing the month to a close at 12 stone 1.5 lbs woo hoo.

Welcome all newcomers and thank you everyone for such a nice supportive space here. If I can do it anyone can.

Today planning bulletproof coffee as per usual and then lunch out! Yummmmm really looking forward to it.

Have a good day 😊

SunshineCake · 31/08/2019 07:15

Happy birthday dancingmom and well done 🍰🎉🎁

I'm disappointed I was up 0.4lbs after walking the dog for two hours and doing over 30 minutes on the exercise bike as well as being under my calorie target but I'm more convinced than ever that it is because I ate something I'm intolerant too. That was August. Today is still August so I can finish the lovely things off then no more.

Loss for August is far as I'm counting tomorrow's weigh in as part of it 5.6lbs.

My aim for September is to lose 6.6lbs so I'm a straight stone amount.

Foreverlexicon · 31/08/2019 07:23

Morning all
My month end weigh in is a bit disappointing - only 0.8lb gone officially for the month Hmm I was doing much better (and a couple of pounds down from this earlier in the month) until I started dating!

However, I’ve lost 2 inches from my stomach, 1.75 inches from my waist, 1 from my bum and 1.25 from my thigh!

I’m going to stick to my meal replacements as it’s just so easy, going to aim to run twice a week and be more mindful of my dinners. At the moment I’ve just been having whatever for dinner but I do actually want to lose weight so I’m going to pick stuff a bit more mindfully!

I also finish training and start my job properly in two weeks time so will be more active and I dare say nervous adrenaline will burn some calories too!

I’m going to aim to lose 5lb this month

SunshineCake · 31/08/2019 07:36

It's still a loss, forverlexicon Smile. I've not lost a huge amount but have lost 2inches off my tummy too.

Foreverlexicon · 31/08/2019 07:43

It is indeed and I start starting to struggle with bad/obsessive food thoughts before I switched to meal replacements and my head is in a much better place now which is a win!
Congratulations on your inches - it’s really them that count anyway!

I just remembered another NSV which is I had to wear full protective kit at work yesterday for an exercise and my protective vest is now comfortable whereas I genuinely struggled to breath at first!

Also to add, I’m thinking of starting a bit of 5:2 and having 2 days a week of full meal replacements. I’m thinking this will offset the date nights (I don’t want to start being restrictive on these dates as whether it continues or not, all this nice stuff at the beginning doesn’t last so want to enjoy it whilst it does!)

MrsSlocombesPussy · 31/08/2019 08:10

I'd like to join please! I have about 5 stones to lose, but I think it might be easier to break it up into manageable chunks.
I'm the heaviest I've ever been at 15st 13lbs, not only that, I feel so unfit and unhealthy. I'm going to try the 5:2 diet, along with building up my activity levels. So I will start by trying to get my number of steps up to 10,000.
I've started having more aches and pains in my joints, so I need to do something to take the strain off!

cheesenpickles · 31/08/2019 08:45

2.3lb off this morning. That's a lot of water retention! Anyway, that takes me to 8.5lb for August which is fantastic considering the amount of days off plan I've been.

So current stats are

SW: 204.8lb beginning of June
CW: 166.8lbs end of August

Total loss 38lbs in just under three months.

Aiming for at least 7lbs in September.

galvantula · 31/08/2019 10:13

Final stats for August for me:

Start 62.3kg /9st 11.3
End 61.5kg / 9st 9.6.

So a small movement in the right direction, but a big improvement in my motivation and the way I am back into thinking and planning what to buy and eat. I picked up a lot of lower calorie, but tasty things that i like at the shops the other day. Plus some snack size chocolate to try and satisfy my cravings without binging. Blush

Also nice to have linked up with my RL buddy to encourage moving more. I just did a big walk at my work to pass on a message, instead of putting a call out for the person. Every little helps! Grin

Aiming for 58 kg initially which is where I was about a year ago. I did have 56kg as a target when i started MFP, I think that's middle of healthy BMI range for me. I did weigh that once upon a time...when I was about 17 maybe Hmm

thisonebreath · 31/08/2019 11:06

I must have been retaining water. Weighed in yesterday at 11st 8.8 and today at 11st 7.4. A loss is a loss though. Wink

butterwithtoast · 31/08/2019 13:30

I did it! Didn't think I would after a week at my parents' with plenty of wine and cake. But I just braved the scales and I'm down to 12 stone! So exactly 7lbs lost in August. If I can keep this going over the next few months I'll be a healthy weight by Christmas Smile Good luck everyone for the coming month!

Mammyloveswine · 31/08/2019 13:41

I've signed up to do the Elite body transformation 20 pound 6 week challenge! Ideally have around 2 stone to lose so hoping this will be a kick up the backside!! Anyone done similar?? Doesn't start until the 14th so planning a big fat takeaway and bottle of wine before starting!

It's totally strict, daily meal plans, 3 training sessions a week, no alcohol at all, weekly weigh ins....cost around 200 quid but you get that back if you lose the weight. Know lots of people who have done it so thought "sod it". Money is motivator in the run up to Christmas!
