Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s Septembers. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to August’s Thread

I will continue to:-

  • follow a low carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fast IF
  • Calorie Count
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

I'm blaming hormones. Dh upset me this morning. DD has upset me tonight. I'm not eating the chocolate though. I'm also stressing as I have therapy tomorrow and I am starting to realise my marriage will never be what I want it to be.

SunshineCake · 01/09/2019 18:32

I wish I was brave enough to post my weight but I'm too full of shame.

Parsley65 · 01/09/2019 19:47

I'm embarrassed to post my weight too, but the doctor told me very recently that I was "bordering on obese" so here I am on day one of my adventure Grin

Parsley65 · 01/09/2019 19:55

Just read your post sunshine and feel for you.
My Dd16 has had some MH problems (self harming, etc) over the last couple of years and I've been strong for her, but sought refuge in emotional eating.
She's off to college next week and very keen on uni after that, so I need to prepare for another stage in my life... Shock

ourmamageddon · 01/09/2019 19:59

Yes please! I think I need to stop drinking beer and start running again

ChipsAreLife · 01/09/2019 20:45

@SunshineCake I started the year off just under 12 stone it's been a hard slog and a commitment to get just over a stone off. Losing weight is bloody hard, so don't feel disheartened, whatever your weight and goal we are all here to support and help each other, you certainly don't need to divulge if you don't want to. I hope the therapy goes well tomorrow.

I've not worked out today but stuck to calories been so busy and now am shattered so off to bed! Kitchen closed at 17.30 and I'm still feeling full so pleased with that!

MrsJonesAndMe · 01/09/2019 20:46

Sending you a hug @sunshinecake

On the plus side here, I did 18;6, did my yoga and 2 days in a row I haven't let my emotions rule my eating. Fingers crossed for a good week for us all.

RabidRabbles · 01/09/2019 20:56

I'm another one who doesn't yet dare to post their actual weight but I reckon I've got at least 5st to lose.

I started my plans to lose weight back when the school summer holidays began in late July. I think I've lost 11lbs so far but my scales aren't all that accurate.

I've tried and failed before but I would be too hard on myself when I'd had a bad day and then fall off the wagon. This time around I've just gone for trying to cut down on what I eat but without getting too hung up on calorie-counting. So far it seems to be working.

I go back to work this week, which should also help with increasing my activity levels.

Good luck, everyone.

Knitclubchatter · 02/09/2019 04:57

i've had a good day; 152.6 (better than expected). logged all 3 of my meals and drank a bit more water than usual (snuck in an extra cup).
got my 10,000+ steps in AND went for a lovely evening bike ride.
the house is tidy and what i'm working on (not a job, helping dh with bottling honey...he's a beekeeper) is going well.
positive thoughts for all the lovely september thread members.

chutneypig · 02/09/2019 05:08

A hug from me too @SunshineCake. I hope all goes well today.

I’d definitely echo what @ChipsAreLife said about support - that’s the important part of this thread, not feeling like you have to divulge.

Sounds like a busy week ahead for you @Parsley65. How did you find day one of your adventure?

I’m sure the activity will help this week @RabidRabbles.

I was hoping to see a little more activity on the scales this morning but I was overall happy with my start to the month food wise. I ate a little more than planned but had run in the morning, so I know I need to offset that a little or I’ll crash in the afternoon. It’s a great time of year to get out and run again @ourmamageddon - I’m not a great fan of the heat so I’m enjoying the autumnal feel for running at least!

Sounds a good start to the month @MrsJonesAndMe

Laura221 · 02/09/2019 06:18

Sunshine please dont worry about posting your weight. The fact that your are here is the main thing. Hope all goes well today for you.

Just a little update , stepped on the scales this morning and had a nice surprise of being 10stone 11 lbs. Which means I am now 1 stone down from the 1st of January! I have to say I wasn't expecting much as we have had some big day out last week and I've only really been watching what I eat for 2 days. I've given up calorie counting as i find i then always think about food and binge so instead I've got some set meals and snacks and stick to those and I'm avoiding bread and crisps for now.

Have a lovely day everyone. I'm back to work today ,boo!

Foreverlexicon · 02/09/2019 07:08

I’m fed up.
I’m not losing weight with meal replacements because I eat so much at weekends and in the evenings that I just put it back on again.

I’m going to get stricter as off now. Healthier dinners and portion control. There’s no point doing this if I’m just going to spoil it!

BustedDreams · 02/09/2019 07:36

Good morning you lovely lot 😊. Threads moving nicely and people seem to be getting board.

I know it’s disappointing when the scales don’t budge or they start going in reverse 😮, however weight loss will come if you perceiver. For me low carb Mediterranean works. It’s just the sneaky add ons I can be blind to sometimes. A piece of chocolate or 3 here and a take away there 😬. Then boom. Scales shoot up and I tell myself it was only ..... Anything for me over my calorie allowance goes on and is a bugger to shift again.

Anyway for those who are interested in low carb I’ve added a visual.

I will try to catch up on reading later. I’m on the brush today painting.

Good luck all ❤️

Braved the scales this morning and I weigh 10st 1lb which is not as bad as I thought! Diet has been dreadful over summer but maybe because I've been busy and on the go it has minimised the damage. 9st 7lb is my comfortable weight and 9st is my ultimate goal!

cheesenpickles · 02/09/2019 07:47

I went over my calories and carbs yesterday but not by a long shot. I had a packet of rowntrees randoms that got given to me at a festival that needed eating. Blush Anyway, I did 14k steps yesterday so that's obviously done a bit to counteract it and I'm down 0.6lbs this morning which is amazing. I need to do an ocado shop to get rid of the temptation to nip to the shop and buy snacks. Hope everybody has a good day!

Jollyholibobs · 02/09/2019 07:56

Hello you lovely lot.
Joining for September as I love the accountability and inspiration I get here.
I am a terrible yo-yo dieter. Lost 7lbs in July, put it back on in August. So here I go again!
Using mfp and weighed in this morning after a a chocolate fest weekend!

theneverendinglaundry · 02/09/2019 08:01

Can I join?

I've been trying to lose a bit of weight since the end of July. Doing okay so far.

Was 12st when I started out, am now 11st 6. Would like to get to a healthy BMI so need to get to at least 11st, but hopefully 10st something!

I have not been following any particular diets but am trying to drink less booze and eat less snacks. I have also started Couch 2 5k which is going really well.

MrsJonesAndMe · 02/09/2019 08:45

Keep going @Foreverlexicon you can do it!

I'm now 6kg down Shock Today really will be GF - I promise Smile

Going to have a hot chocolate, lunch is a chicken salad, fruit and nuts to snack on and tea is curry and rice, no naan.

WhatALearningCurve · 02/09/2019 09:15

So. I was very present in June and July and then fell off in August because of holidays and distractions.

I am now back on it.

Start weight 1/07/19

13st 4 3/4
186 3/4lb
87.4kg

Current weight 2/09/2019

12st 5

173lb

78.5kg

I know a lot of that 5lbs in due to just bad eating and bloating. Going to try and be extra good this week and drink at least 3 litres of water a day.

I usually account for steps and activity too but I need to dig out my Fitbit.

I weigh every day just so I can get used to my body fluctuations but only record the weights every Monday.

I'm hoping that by my friends wedding at the end of September I can firmly be in the 11 stone bracket

SunshineCake · 02/09/2019 13:28

I am going to read all your posts a bit later as want to clean out a cupboard, and thank you all for your kindness, but just now I wanted to say I know this thread is about weight loss and not mental health and I'm sorry I've brought this thread down with my low mental health and emotional difficulties. It's a lovely thread with lots of support and on that note I am going to take a deep breath and say I am a pound down from yesterday and today I am 12 stone 7.

My recent highest was 12 12 on July 31st and lowest 12 2.8 on April 26th. A more recent low was 12 6 on August 30th.

Flowers for all.

cheesenpickles · 02/09/2019 14:05

@SunshineCake the two go hand in hand and our perception of ourselves and how others see us is intrinsically linked. You're doing AMAZINGLY well and we're all here with you, chasing similar goals. You've got this. Smile

Knitclubchatter · 02/09/2019 14:14

Sunshine you can do this.
I’ve seen those same numbers on the scale, be as active as feasible and work on one pound at a time.

MarciaMarciaMarcia · 02/09/2019 14:24

I would also like to join. I am doing a weight loss challenge at work and could use a little extra motivation. I have lost 9 kg since January but feel like i should have lost much more., as I keep my carbs to under 50 a day (although fell off the wagon a few times). I am 47 so think I could be menopausal! Still another 6 kg to go till goal.

SunshineCake · 02/09/2019 16:39

@Parsley65 - it is so hard isn't it, when you are a parent full stop to find time for yourself, but even more difficult when your children are going through a difficult time. There is something about September that gives one impetus to make a fresh start. Good luck Flowers. To look after your child you need to look after yourself first so you have the energy.

ChipsAreLife - well done on your stone loss! Your user name made me smile as I just picked up DS who was starving. I have made a lasagne for his dinner and will do him a garlic bread baguette but he asked to stop to her chips. I was very proud as I had the one he offered. I would have loved more but I drank water at the traffic lights instead and laughed to myself that when I told ds I had forgotten how nice chips were that he didn't think to offer me another one Grin. I came home and did 28 minutes on the exercise bike instead. I am having jacket potato and cottage cheese for my dinner.

Thank you for the hug @MrsJonesAndMe and great stuff at not eating your feelings Star.

SunshineCake · 02/09/2019 16:48

@chutneypig thank you for the hug and your kind words. I love chutney but can't eat onion and it is in everything [annoyed]. Therapy was hard and I thought I was going to cry but it went okay. Nervous about telling dh about it but told him a bit when he rang earlier so hopefully he is prepared.

@Laura221 thank you and I did it!!

@Foreverlexicon you can do it! I barely lost anything on some drink powder stuff I bought from Holland & Barrett but what I gained was to get out of the habit of snacking and not eating enough at each meal. I've done nine days, missed Saturday, on the exercise bike and I've been logging calories for about four days which is keeping me determined.

Is GF gluten free or something else?

@cheesenpickles I am unbelievably touched by your kind words. You saying you are all with me is very apt as that was part of my therapy today. How I haven't felt like I belong anywhere all my life.

@Knitclubchatter thank you very much. Having seen your name I wonder if you're a real life friend ShockSmile
