Lose 7lbs in August

BustedDreams · 27/07/2019 12:07

Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

I'll join. I'm 13 stone 8. I am going lower carb, more veg, no snacking, no drinks with more than 15 calories.

cheesenpickles · 27/07/2019 12:43

Checking in! X

RiddleyW · 27/07/2019 12:47

Please can I tag along?

I’m 196lbs and want to lose 50lbs total. 7lbs in August would be a good start.

RiddleyW · 27/07/2019 13:21

I’m planning to weigh in everyday I think.

LosingLola · 27/07/2019 14:21

After last month's success I'm definitely in for next month! If I can do another 7lbs it will give me a bmi less than 30, which will mean I'm "overweight" rather than "obese"! So that's a great milestone to aim for.

Triceratopmeup · 27/07/2019 14:43

Count me in too please!! I've finally decided to bite the bullet & start calorie counting. I've been on 1200cals per day since Tues. It will be nice to check in with people who are in the same position & will hopefully keep me on plan!!!

BustedDreams · 27/07/2019 16:12

Hi @LosingLola & @cheesenpickles Grin

Welcome on board @AvengerDanvers95 @RiddleyW & @Triceratopmeup The support on July thread was fantastic. So many positive stories and many a helping hand & wise words if people began to struggle.

For those interested in the Mediterranean diet or time restricted eating (tre) Dr Michael Moseley’s Fast800 website is useful.

Let's do this!!

I am starting at 11 stone 3. I need to be 10 stone 10 to be back in the "healthy weight category" for my height so hopefully can lose those 7lbs in August!

I'm calorie counting this month and aimig for less than 1200kcal per day.

LaLemonLa · 27/07/2019 17:56

I'm going to join this. I'm 13 stone and a size 16, I am disgusting. I put weight on my stomach so easily. I'm just gross.

I had a heavy night on the gin last night and feel so awful today but I am going to start. I have my parents coming over for a take away but I'll be having grilled chicken and rice.

I'm really not sure on the best way to lose weight, SW has always worked in the past for me but I always put it back on. Can anyone educate me about breakfast/dinners? I struggle with those the most!

LETS DO THIS Smile

Triceratopmeup · 27/07/2019 19:22

I'm hoping that I'll have some success by logging every morsel that passes my lips & stepping away from the wine!!

I've been steadily gaining a lb or so every few months & I need to tackle it now before it gets out of control!! I'm fully aware that my wine & accompanying munchies consumption is responsible for this weight gain.

Been good since last Tues & am pleased to say the scales are showing a loss of 4.5lbs this morning. I am a daily weigher though, so I'm fully aware that this is all water weight... but hey ho, a loss is a loss!!

Weight this morning 9st13.5. Hoping to get down to 9st!!

Triceratopmeup · 27/07/2019 19:26

@LaLemonLa Not professing to know anything, but I find eggs are a great breakfast & do keep you fuller for longer.

As for dinner, I tend to aim for a smaller portion of what I'm making for family. Though tend to go for a smaller portion of the carb element, or swap it for courgetti, cauliflower rice etc. Failing that I lsometimes have a lunch sized dinner, like beans on toast or poached eggs.

cheesenpickles · 27/07/2019 19:29

So, In July I started on 187.6lbs, BMI was 30.3. I've been following intermittent fasting (mostly one meal a day but usually 20/4) and gone as low carb as possible with a few pitta breads accidentally chucked in. Had a big trip away and a birthday cake but am currently 176.2lbs and BMI of 28.4. No longer obese just overweight and 11.4lbs down.

Went to a music festival today, stuck to water and got lucky with some no carb food. About to have some bacon and eggs as an at home snack.

Hoping to get into the 160's this month and would LOVE to be 165lb for the Bank Holiday weekend which would put my BMI to 26.6.

I've got a birthday this month so may go off piste but feeling motivated and barbecue season is perfect for keto. Grin Would quite like to get into a size 14 pair of trousers if poss too.

xJune88 · 27/07/2019 19:29

Joining. Failed massively in July. A stone to loose, I'm using MFP on 1200cal a day maximum and trying to walk more and doing a few bits at home (new baby and dog who haven't mastered walking together yet so difficult!!)

xJune88 · 27/07/2019 19:30

As I sit here sipping my wine... 🤦🏼‍♀️

Triceratopmeup · 27/07/2019 19:36

@June88 I'm on 1200cals a day using MFP too. It was wine that has me here in the first place... hence my user name!! I can polish off a bottle of wine, no bother whatsoever... which is frightening, given that a bottle of wine is approx 600cals. But it's 600cals of bliss!!! Grin

Somuchroom · 27/07/2019 19:38

Can I join!!
I overhauled my eating habits on Monday. I’m tracking everything that passes my face hole and am aiming for 1500 a day to begin with then will see if I’ve lost anything on Monday. I’m looking to loose 1lbs a week. I’m also doing a 15 minute YouTube work out once or twice a day to help tone up.
I’m not restricting any food because if I feel like I’m not “allowed” something I will obsess over it and then eat my body weight of it!

I’ve gone up 2 dress sizes in 2 months and I can’t go on like this.

xJune88 · 27/07/2019 19:41

I've just finished my glass was worth it 🙈 I've stopped snacking completely and changed my diet massively but cant cut the wine!! @Triceratopmeup I have no more in the house, obv cant drive but crave more haha...

Triceratopmeup · 27/07/2019 20:12

@xJune88 I have been known to walk the dog to the nearest off licence when supplies have diminished!! Blush

@Somuchroom I know the feeling, the past few months I've watched the lbs creep on slowly & steadily. I dusted off my fitbit and restarted MFP and nearly cried when I saw that I had gained a stone since I has last used them!!

Triceratopmeup · 27/07/2019 20:14

@BustedDreams I've just noticed that we're the same weight... Let's do this!!!!

cheesenpickles · 28/07/2019 07:42

Wasn't sure which thread to write on now. Grin I seem to have hit my plateau, my weight has nipped back up again by 0.5lbs. I know I need to up the ante with exercise but with the kids at home they get in the way a touch. Any suggestions for mentally pushing through it? I'm measuring as well but haven't seen a lot of difference on the tape lately either.

eltsihT · 28/07/2019 09:23

I am a teacher, I got back to work on the 16th of August. I just bought my new work trousers (same size and style as last year) and they are too tight.

I am working in kg so am trying to loose 3kg - currently 69.8kg.

I am back to using mfp and trying not to snack, but being off with the kids makes it hard. I have also quit coffee (but not tea) as i was getting lots of heartburn while we were away on holiday.

VincentVanGoughandhisear · 28/07/2019 09:29

I've lost 18lb since the end of Feb by counting calories.

I started off on 1500 but am now on 1400.

Not sure if I could go down to 1200 but loads of people do.

lboogy · 28/07/2019 09:41

I'll join. Had a horrible binge yesterday. I'm 81. kg -12 st 7lbs. I'd love to loose 7lbs in August

I'm sticking to a1400-1500 low carb diet. Two meals in 3 will be protein only

naivemelody · 28/07/2019 12:01

I really need to join you all.

I burst the button off the only pair of jeans that fit me this morning. I weighed myself and I'm 10st 12.5 which for my height means I need to lose around 2st.

I don't have a plan. But, I really want to do this.

Do you have a specific weigh day?

BustedDreams · 28/07/2019 12:32

@LaLemonLa Firstly you are not disgusting or gross. Those are thoughts and feelings and not a true reflection of who you are. You are a worthwhile deserving person who is going to choose to make wiser and healthy food choices. This will ultimately help you feel healthier, lighter, better in mood and perspective. You can do it. We will all help you.

I’ll be back later with tips about meals etc and reply to other posts.

I’m just making some home made leek and cauliflower soup for my lunches this week. I must say the last batch was satisfying and I was told it was delish.
