Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Thank you DrDiva you are very kind. I've realised it was only actually six years where I wasn't fed properly but it has stayed with me ever since.

dancingmom · 27/08/2019 18:40

@SunshineCake that's awful and very sad. I hope you're ok. I can't even imagine what that would do to your relationship with food let alone anything else. Xx

dancingmom · 27/08/2019 18:41

Thanks for new thread @BustedDreams 🤗

SunshineCake · 27/08/2019 19:16

Thank you dancingmom, you are very kind. I'm not okay but I'm having regular therapy and that is helping. Apologies to everyone for more moaning.

BustedDreams · 27/08/2019 19:27

@SunshineCake you are very welcome. There are some good listeners on these threads. Sending warm wishes.

@dancingmom you are most welcome!

@MrsJonesAndMe that’s great progress!

@cheesenpickles I’d say that’s a win then Grin

I stuck to plan today apart from swapping out cooked veg for a salad. It’s just too hot!

Oh no .... it’s so hard to watch Great British Bake Off without feeling hungry 😋. Made myself a coffee with cream which I see as a daily treat.

Anyone else watching it?

I gave up when Mary left and Paul cheated.

galvantula · 27/08/2019 22:16

(oh yes and thanks for another thread @busteddreams )

SunshineCake · 28/08/2019 06:57

Morning all how is everyone? I'm hoping for a cooler day today.

I could have cried this morning after I'd weighed myself. I actually felt my eyes go a bit but then I decided to measure my middle and I've lost an inch off my tummy ShockConfused.

Foreverlexicon · 28/08/2019 07:09

Ugh I’m frustrated.
I weighed myself and I’ve gsined 4.5lb in a week and a half! I’m not even sure how that’s possible.

I know I had a heavy weekend but I wasn’t even binging, just a few meals out and lots of alcohol. I’ve been on the shakes/bars for breakfast and lunch solidly for 2.5 weeks so I was hoping that would cancel it out.

I’m going to be more mindful of my dinner calories and hopefully i’m still just bloated- at the moment I’ve gained weight this month!

BustedDreams · 28/08/2019 07:52

Good Morning 😊

@Foreverlexicon I feel your pain. I’ve had that happen to me and I know how disappointed and puzzled it made me feel. Especially when I know I’m 99% good. The injustice of it! However, I think the heat can make us retain water as can certain foods. Water is surprising heavy. You won’t have put fat on in a weekend. You’d need an extra 14,000 calories to make 4lbs of fat 😮. Fingers crossed it disappears for you as quickly as it arrived!

@SunshineCake morning lovie 😊. Honestly I think I had about an hour and half sleep. I know being sleep deprived actually affects your hormones that regulate eating patterns (ghrelin & leptin are the little buggers). So I will up fluids to trick them and to try to stay feeling full.

Really really hot here. Even though we did have a bit of rain and a light thunderstorm ⛈ it’s still very muggy here. I hope it’s cooler today.

You’re very welcome @galvantula!

3 days left ....

Well I've weighed myself this morning and have gone up to my starting weight! Blegh. Never mind. It has been my daughters birthday and we've had lots of days out. Next month will be easier as the kids are back to school.

RiddleyW · 28/08/2019 08:45

I’m 5lbs down from start of August I’ll take that I think. Hopefully I’ll be closer to 7lbs off in September

cheesenpickles · 28/08/2019 10:28

So the scale has shot up 2.8lbs overnight Envy I know that's not fat and will probably shed back off but not what I wanted to see waking up on my birthday.

dancingmom · 28/08/2019 10:49

Pound off today 12stone 3. So close to my goal of 12 by the end of month... will I make it? Probably not but I'm pleased. It has been 6 llbs so far in August strictly and then another 7 llbs the week prior to that in the last week of July. So a good start. Two stone to go... 😬😬😬 Just made a cake with kids and it smells DIVINE 😩😩😩

dancingmom · 28/08/2019 10:50

Happy birthday @cheesenpickles Don't even think about the scales today! Cake

Thank you @dancingmom I've been so off plan this week I'm feeling a tad guilty. BlushI think maybe make the most of today and then back to normal tomorrow.

cheesenpickles · 28/08/2019 10:59

Thank you @BustedDreams Grin

SunshineCake · 28/08/2019 12:54

Happy birthday cheesenpickles 🎂🍰🧁🍕🍟🥗🌮🎁🎉🎊🎈

MrsJonesAndMe · 28/08/2019 13:20

Happy birthday @cheesenpickles

Bit of a mixed bag so far today. Things still not resolved with DH Hmm On the up side I am exactly 5.5kg/12lbs down today.

I tried one series of GBBO when they moved, but haven't since @BustedDreams Might give it a go with DD who liked it too.

Hope you all have a good day.

galvantula · 28/08/2019 14:53

Happy Birthday cheesenpickles! Hope it's a good one.

I'm down v slightly today ,(0.3kg) but still been a bouncing up and down month for me too busteddreams.

I have discovered a possible reason for this... Blush
.. I've not been logging properly or paying proper attention to hitting my MFP target for the best part of a year. In the meantime I've got a new replacement step tracking watch. My tracker app is linked to MFP and it has a cute feature where it auto logs exercise for any constant walking over a set time, default 5 mins. Then MFP picks that up and assigns the calories to your exercise section.

So I've been eating back little amounts of exercise calories I think. My MFP nutrition chart might have looked all green, but the total calories told a different story.

I've turned this feature off, so hopefully it'll look a bit more sensible now. I feel a bit dense that I wasn't paying attention to total calories, rather than remaining calories. 😅

It's probably less than 100 calories a day, but it's not been helpful.

DrDiva · 28/08/2019 14:54

Happy birthday, cheesenpickles !
