Lose 7lbs in August

Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

I'd love to join!! I'm three weeks postpartum and all I have been doing is skipping meals and eating a butt load of chocolate during the night feeds.... And I'm not breastfeeding so I have no excuse for extra calories.

My plan is 16:8 (was doing this pre-pregnancy and loved it), focussing on fuelling my body with healthier choices and lots of water. And if I have to have something during the night (out of hunger and not boredom) making it fruit or some veggies! And no more chocolate (I'm mildly lactose intolerant and it gives me migraines so there really isn't reason)

Exercise-wise obviously things are still limited but I finally have a baby carrier I love to wear so lots of walks with baby and some gentle stretches and pelvic floors! Won't get cleared for anything more strenuous than that until September!

I'll weigh in on the first!

Ziggzagg · 30/07/2019 18:08

I fasted from last night at 8 till 12 today (4th day!).

Had a lovely egg and cheese salad and some nuts at 12.

Fruit for snacks and now I'm doing homemade beef chili burgers with salad and tahini.

Will walk for 30 mins on the treadmill while it's cooking!

I will do this!!Grin

Breakfast: small slice of Hovis granary toasted, slice lean ham topped with poached egg, just under 200. Lunch: homemade carrot and tomato soup, small bowl of Skyr with strawbs. Well under 250. Dinner: Homemade prawn and veg curry, with mini naan, about 600-700. Not enough water, so will try and make that up now.

MrsJonesAndMe · 30/07/2019 18:58

Sounds like you're all doing great.

New mums, please be kind to yourself. It really does take time to settle your body back down... Flowers

suchsweetsorrow82 · 30/07/2019 22:18

Despite visiting McDonalds for lunch 🤣 I managed to finish just under 1300 calories
Walked 14,000 steps
No exercise today

Breakfast - Protein bar
Lunch - McDonalds Grilled Sweet chilli chicken wrap
Dinner - Egg Salad
Snacks - Apple + 2 Rich Tea Biscuits
Drinks - Water (but not enough again) + Diet Coke + 3 x Tea with skimmed milk

Weigh in for me tomorrow. Well done everyone Smile

EnsignRoLaren · 30/07/2019 23:21

@suchsweetsorrow82 highfive for the rich tea biscuits. I am not usually a biscuit eater but they are my slightly-sweet 34 cal snack of choice!

suchsweetsorrow82 · 31/07/2019 03:40

@EnsignRoLaren biscuits are my Achilles heel so I allow myself 2 rich tea biscuits a day with my morning tea as my ‘treat’!

10st 1lb. So 1lb loss brining my total to 9lbs. I am a bit disappointed to be honest. I’ve been trying so hard with all counts - steps / exercise / food. I know a loss is a loss but I really thought I’d hit my target.

Anyway mustn’t moan. About to catch a flight! Will still check in with you all!

Foreverlexicon · 31/07/2019 04:58

I weighed myself for my July loss total and down a poubd. So 3.7lb gone in July. It doesn’t sound a lot but I’ve realised I’ve lost 12lb in total since the start of May! Also puts me in the normal BMI category 😁

I’ll weigh tomorrow for my August start weight then go back to my weekly weigh ins.
.

chutneypig · 31/07/2019 06:39

There are some great losses here and people well on their way to targets even if they didn’t quite make them. Well done to everyone.

I came in at 61.9kg this morning from 63.1 at the start on of the month, I weight every day and really look at the averages, which is down 0.9 kg from last month. I am pleased with that as I’ve tended towards more of a steady lb a month this year. This thread has helped a lot with that. I’ll be on the August thread to try and keep me on track for the holiday season.

looloo247 · 31/07/2019 06:44

I'll join. Overall I want to lose 12-15kg which I know will be a long process but got to start somewhere. Aiming for 2-3kg in August, just got 5 days away in Italy to get through in the middle and the rest should be fine Confused Going to use MFP and limit to 1500 calories to start with I think, maybe drop to 1400 once I get in the healthy eating frame of mind.

MrsJonesAndMe · 31/07/2019 06:44

Well done @chutneypig @Foreverlexicon and @suchsweetsorrow82

I'm hoping to have a more controlled day today as yesterday descended into too much snacking.

ohflippincrumbs · 31/07/2019 07:38

Down 0.4lbs this morning. Considering I had a handful of Haribo last night (all counted of course!).

dancingmom · 31/07/2019 07:50

One pound off here overnight bringing weight to 12st 9.7lbs (to be precise). Felt very crap last night, no energy. Waiting for this bloody surge of energy to hit that everyone goes on about with keto. This morning had chia seeds soaked overnight with coconut and almond milk and sprinkled with cinnamon. Total treat can't recommend enough and v low calorie.

MarvelMum3 · 31/07/2019 07:58

Some wonderful losses on here! And some really good days of food!!

My food yesterday was all over the place - I skipped lunch and then was so hungry after dinner we ordered nandos and I didn't pick something healthy Blush However, little wins today - barely slept last night because of a grumpy baby and I didn't eat any chocolate! And feel much better for making sure I was drinking water instead - less headachey for definite!

beenrumbled · 31/07/2019 08:39

Well done everyone! Here goes another day. Fresh start for me!

I might have gone to McDonalds with DD after her hospital appointment, and I did not make good choices, so yesterday was a write off. Oops.

Never mind.

Today I have had porridge with some berries for breakfast, made with semi skimmed milk.

I'm not going to weigh in until the weekend.

I'm trying not to feel guilty if I have a bad day - In the past I felt so bad that I just thought "whats the point?" and went back to bad habits and ended up putting even more weight on. So trying to shrug it off and move on.

BustedDreams · 31/07/2019 10:24

Good morning lovelies ... I’ve just seen this mornings post has not posted.

It was longish with replies to @people. I can’t remember what I wrote and it will take me to long to go through previous posts again ... I’m a slow older person Grin

Anyways it’s great to see so many of you. We can do it! Mindset, healthy choices, moving move, portion control will all help ❤️

Good Afternoon all. I'm scooching over from the July thread with a loss of 6.5lbs for the month. Should have been more but I only really got my head in gear for the last two weeks.

I'm doing slimming world, as there's a group at the end of my street. 😂 However, having got to a skeletal state on Atkins five years ago, I know that carbs are my downfall so I'm not having mountains of potato or pasta etc.

Typical day for me -
B - oat pancakes with fat free yogurt and berries.

L- salad, with a protein and maybe some noodles.

D - anything from the Pinch of Nom recipe book, it really is fantastic. Tonight I will be having leftover creamy garlic chicken with a (measured) portion of pasta.

Shecanmoveinanydirection · 31/07/2019 12:36

Good morning. I love hearing the success stories from last month @weknowfrogs. Hope I am inspired to stick with it. I am going to weigh myself tomorrow. Second fast day of the week today which is where I tend to cheat so trying to be disciplined. Have been for v short run and done weights. Food planned for rest of day. Just need to stick with the plan.....

beenrumbled · 31/07/2019 12:59

Really struggling with the kids being off school and me having time off work to be around for them. I think its easier in work to be disciplined!

Have done weights & stretches this morning, and for lunch had 2 slices of wholemeal toast with a scrape of butter. Also having some berries and greek yoghurt.

My dinner will be salad with a salmon fillet and i will make my own dressing with some balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

Somuchroom · 31/07/2019 13:30

Hello all. Really motivating to hear of all the losses today. Well done!

Today I’ve gone for a long forest walk pushing toddler in his pushchair all uphill. Breakfast was coffee. Lunch was sandwich thin with quorn ham, a carrot and hard boiled egg. Dinner will be wholemeal pasta pesto. I always save a few hundred calories for evening munch. Last night I had a few jelly beans and 3 milk chocolate butter biscuits.

Going for a long walk this afternoon with toddler again. And will do my YouTube work out this evening.

Positive vibes Smile

Realistically how long does it take for body to feel normal again after baby or does it never? I'm really battling with my body atm I hate it. Was 8 stone 13 yesterday and now I'm 9.2 need to avoid the scales I think. I know to alot of you I'm small but I was 8.1 before baby and a size 8. I'm really struggling with my new body and my arms are holding alot of weight!! Just feel shit. X

xJune88 · 31/07/2019 16:08

Oh I'm 5ft1 which obv effects this x

Somuchroom · 31/07/2019 17:42

@xJune88 can only speak for myself on this one, but if I’m brutally honest with you it doesn’t go back to “normal”. Instead you learn to accept your new body. I used to have a great pair of tits, now I don’t. To begin with I wouldn’t even let dh see them, but then I learnt to love what I have and it really doesn’t bother me anymore. It’s the small price I paid to be a mother.

Laura221 · 31/07/2019 18:00

June, I have to say I agree with the above poster. My boobs and lower stomach are not the same. However after about 6 months I learnt to enbrace my body.

I've done well sticking to my cals today even with half a tea cake and vegan sausage roll consumed today 😆 its definitely not been a healthy day but I cant be good all the time!

Hope you've all had a good day. I've spend an absolute fortune on 3 lots of school uniform today but at least it can be ticked of the list of things that needed to be done.

dancingmom · 31/07/2019 18:03

@xJune88 if you've had a baby I'd wait until you've finished breastfeeding and the baby is settled and you feel more confident with your daily routine. Early motherhood is beyond exhausting- you need extra calories to cope with the demands of sleepless nights. It doesn't have to be shit food. Why don't you not restrict calories but maybe just try and eat completely healthily and walk for a good hour each day? Your body will get back to normal - I would say after 6 months I felt like I was getting there but then I got pregnant again!
