Lose 7lbs in August

BustedDreams · 27/07/2019 12:07

Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

@RiddleyW no not heard of the Kindness Method, I’ll have a google. Thank you for sharing.

Good morning @MorgenMuffel hahahaha that would give them all a smile. I think we all weigh heavier at hospital because we have all our clothes on. Where your lightest things, bikini perhaps Grin Hope everything goes ok!

That made me chuckle @morgenmuffel wear the lightest dress you have 😆

I'm not feeling totally motivated today, fingers crossed the sunshine will help me remember my goal throughout the day so I dont pick at food. I think I'm going to update my weight here every thursday so I'll do an official starting weight on thurs

Have a good day everyone!

dancingmom · 30/07/2019 07:41

Thanks for the kind welcomes! I know it's not Thursday yet but lost 1.5lbs overnight which has made me v happy! I didn't lose anything yesterday and ate at least 1600cals on keto with bacon and eggs for breakfast, sea bass for lunch and rib eye for dinner so was nervous about weighing myself and wooooooo! Keto works. Having coffee with single cream and going to eat at lunch I think today and dinner. 12st 10lbs which I haven't seen in a while 😊 am 5'7" so a fair bit to go but nice to see the scales moving it's very motivating. Have a good day ladies. Raining here!

beenrumbled · 30/07/2019 08:15

Morning everyone! Thank you for the welcome.

2 scrambled eggs for breakfast again, and a cup of tea.

DD has an orthodontic appointment at hospital today, over lunch, and I promised her lunch out - so need to see what healthy options I can find for me.

I did my weights and stretches yesterday, so not doing that today as I'm trying to alternate days. I will try and get my steps up to the 10,000 today, we will be getting the train and tram to hospital but there will be a fair amount of walking.

suchsweetsorrow82 · 30/07/2019 08:17

Morning all. Great loss @dancingmom

Last full day of sticking to plan today as off on holiday tomorrow. Will weigh in tomorrow. Aim is 10st.

Plans for holiday are

Alcohol - try to stick to spirit and low calorie mixers. Perhaps treat myself to a few wines at the weekend.
Avoid bread crisps chips pasta and potato at dinner time.
Eggs or porridge for breakfast
Salad for lunch

We do a lot of walking and it’s quite hilly but I am going to aim to run x3 a week and do daily stretching and strength work.

I will have 1 ice cream a day though 😄

BustedDreams · 30/07/2019 08:33

@dancingmom your meals sound delicious 😋 Great loss btw!

@beenrumbled hope all goes well at your dd appointment! Sounds like your getting plenty of exercise in, I need to get more in.

@suchsweetsorrow82 have a great holiday! See you when you get back.

1.3lb off this morning so am now lower than I was before my night away. Woohoo! I'm only 5lbs from being at the 11 stone point as well. Also three days smoke free without bingeing or snacking. Smile

EnsignRoLaren · 30/07/2019 09:01

Well done today team!

154.4 for me this morning, which is half a stone since 30 June when I began. Woohoo! I went for a late cycle in the rain last night.

Somuchroom · 30/07/2019 10:00

Good morning everyone, some great losses happening this morning! Well done!

For me doing 16:8 combined with an 1300 calorie allowance. So just coffee this morning, not sure if milk is allowed but tough, I need it!

Having some reduced sugar beans at lunch after birthing a number 2 yesterday, my god. Really struggling with getting enough fibre in.

Just incase people are not aware, Aldi’s now do their own version of mini milks. 32kcal a go.

Have a lovely day all Smile

Somuchroom · 30/07/2019 10:01

@cheesenpickles
Well done, I’m 6 months down the line from quitting and it’s hard work. You are amazing!

cheesenpickles · 30/07/2019 10:07

Thanks @Somuchroom up until a year ago I had actually been smoke free for about 4 years. Feel so daft for starting again (and SO broke Sad) but determined to quit this time. Going to use the extra cash for gym membership!

dancingmom · 30/07/2019 10:11

@cheesenpickles well done! I gave up years ago and what I used to do whenever I got a craving I'd imagine an ashtray full of butts and the taste of having smoked too much with a hangover!!!!! Worked for me!

Triceratopmeup · 30/07/2019 10:35

@Somuchroom quitting smoking is what has me on this group in the first place... well that & a fondness for sauvignon blanc!!

Weighed in this morning at 9st13.5, that's a loss of 5lbs since starting last Tues!! Have stuck to 1200cals all week & exercised 4 times. Though I did slip up & drink a bottle of wine on Sunday night!! Blush

Doodleoodleday · 30/07/2019 10:41

Can I join? I put on 3.5 stone in my pregnancy, I'm 6 months PP and still breastfeeding so I cant be restrictive with food just mindful. I lost 10lbs in July by having:

Breakfast: fruit
Lunch: Salad with grains and oven baked fish
Snack: I've got those graze boxes or I have small bit of avocado on a cracker
Dinner: vegetables, chicken and rice, and I used the hello fresh boxes. Generally aim for 600 calories for dinner or less.

2-3 litres of water and I do have a lot of coffees with skimmed milk... Well 2 a day id say. I know it's bad but I have a small gin and tonic often in the bath after a long day but it's only ever one.

Exercise wise - I walk 2 hours with pram and I do a dynamic yoga class 3 times a week. Im still suffering from pelvic girdle pain so I can't do high impact.

This morning I weighed 13stone 4 (I figure my BOOBS weight a stone each 😂) I would like to get down to 12stone by end of Sept and back in a size 12. I'm currently a size 14, I'm quite tall 5ft 8/9 - I think I look a bit large but not massively overweight I'm just so heavy!

Look forward to meeting you all!

Somuchroom · 30/07/2019 11:31

@cheesenpickles you can do it! Don’t be so hard on yourself for starting again. We all make mistakes. You are putting it right now so it doesn’t matter. Can’t change what’s already happened!

@Triceratopmeup same! I was also a chronic weed smoker and gave it all up at the same time and ended up loosing 2st due to no appetite (no weed). But now my appetite is back and food tastes amazing (no smoking) I’ve put on loads and am bigger than I was when I quit! But I’d rather be a little bit fat rather than a smoker.

Cary2012 · 30/07/2019 11:41

Ex smoker here too! Weight gain definitely increased when I quit! Great losses you lot! Amazing! I weigh on a Thursday so will post mine then. @Doodleoodleday, your eating looks really healthy.

Shecanmoveinanydirection · 30/07/2019 12:51

Really motivational stuff here. Thanks for the links @BustedDreams. I weighed in today at 11 st 9.8 - micro loss! Very good fast day yesterday coming in at just over 500 cals. Am going to stick to 1350 cals today (food already entered on MFP) and go for run.

wildflowersandweeds · 30/07/2019 13:12

Can I join too? I've a week old baby who I'm breastfeeding, so just going to start with making healthier choices and drinking more water. I'm 4 stone overweight Blushso there's a long way to go!

Crayolaaa · 30/07/2019 13:48

I'm in! I'm 11 stone 8 and have put on over a stone in the last year through not exercising and eating all the things. Since yesterday I'm using my fitness pal to count calories and macros and will weigh in again at the weekend!

MrsJonesAndMe · 30/07/2019 15:42

Sounds like you're all doing well. I was starving this morning waiting for the food delivery Blush Also spent more time in the toilet than anything else with all the water I've been drinking. Hope the overall effect will be a positive.

Food:
small hot choc and GF brownie in Costa Blush Blush

Lunch: chicken/tomato/veg soup with 2 small slices of sour dough ancient grain bread (seem to tolerate this OK)

full fat greek yogurt, blueberries, 1/4 apple

Tea: chilli and rice with lots of veg in it

Pop corn

On the up side, lots of portions of fruit and veg, lots of water and day 3 of no Coke!

RiddleyW · 30/07/2019 15:45

I've been working from home today but have managed to avoid the biscuits! I've prepared a healthy beetroot and chickpea curry for dinner so I think today should be ok.

EnsignRoLaren · 30/07/2019 16:18

@wildflowersandweeds welcome. One week post- partum doesn’t count as overweight Grin. You have a few months’ grace to let your body recover and settle. But being a bit more intentional is a good place to start!

EnsignRoLaren · 30/07/2019 16:20

I have been to Nando’s today and made sure lunch came in under 450 kcals

cheesenpickles · 30/07/2019 16:26

Good work @EnsignRoLaren! I'm currently making 2kg worth of buffalo chicken thighs. Enough to feed the family and low enough carb that I won't feel guilty if I pick later. Grin
