Lose 7lbs in August

Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

We watched GBBO last year as dh’s Cousin was on it. I will prob watch this year but I don’t think DH is particularly interested. DS might be, he loves cooking. Makes the best chicken noodle soup ever.
We are big Masterchef Australia fans Blush

MrsJones - I don't know what has gone on with your dh but tell him from me that he needs to make up. I have a friend who when I told him little arguments are pointless, it really got to me as he's grieving the loss of his wife. She died a few years ago but still finds it hard Sad

SunshineCake · 28/08/2019 16:30

When I told him dh and I had had a tiff he said little arguments are pointless..etc.

Foreverlexicon · 28/08/2019 17:40

I’ve REALLY struggled today. First hard day since starting meal replacements. I’ve stuck to it though although it’s been so so hard 😫

cheesenpickles · 28/08/2019 17:52

Thanks for all the birthday wishes guys. Had a lovely day. Bought some 29" waist jeans which I'm VERY happy about Grinand ate like it was my birthday including a giant bowl a Wagamama Ramen and a Kit Kat Krispy Kreme (in lieu of a birthday cake). Closing my window now though and back to normal from tomorrow. Been trying on all sorts of clothes today and it was soooo great being able to hunt around for smaller sizes. Though glad I've had a few days off Smile

SunshineCake · 28/08/2019 19:31

@hiphopopotumus

I'm confused with what I have left to eat. I've logged 3 meals. Walks x 2 and 2 lots of exercise bike work outs.

If we get to 1000 posts before the end of the month we might as well just jump onto Septembers thread :)

I've had a tough couple of days. Lots going on personally with a separation with DH which is hitting the kids hard, and it's school holidays so out of routine. So there's been a bit of emotional eating sadly. Not in the realms of binge eating but enough to stop any weight loss.

But!! I've just signed up for online running coaching which I hope to give me new motivation. And school starts next week. So I'm going to take deep breath and restart tomorrow, and look to join the September thread and make some read headway then.

By the way well done @Foreverlexicon I admire your willpower - keep strong!!

SunshineCake · 29/08/2019 07:15

@crummyusername I am sorry to hear you are going through such a difficult time. Mainlining chocolate would be understandable but self care is about not putting too much bad stuff in you so make sure you have lovely healthy food instead. Smoked salmon and philidelphia cheese on a lovely seeded roll or baked potato is a lovely meal ime.

cheesenpickles · 29/08/2019 07:19

Weighed but ignoring the number for a couple of days Grin

MrsJonesAndMe · 29/08/2019 08:33

(((hugs))) @crummyusername I have been there and it is traumatic. Just do what you can to look after yourself.

Well DH says I'm snappy and don't talk to him/the kids nicely. Honestly, I'm up early every day, do nearly all the washing, cooking, cleaning, shopping and child wrangling while working FT hours with a thyroid condition which zapped my energy for about 2 years. I'm sorry my bed time manner slipped a bit Hmm He's genuinely a good egg but I wasn't impressed. It's not nice to be told something negative about yourself is it? Off to go work on myself.

On the reason we're all here for - didn't weigh today which should be official WI, but I've been keeping to IF and did a 6 1/2hr eating window yesterday which will translate into about 18hrs fast before lunch today.

Hope you all have a good day!

galvantula · 29/08/2019 09:41

My DH says similar Mrs Jones. He's right to a point, lack of sleep due to shift work and occasional random smallest child needing a cuddle at 3 am does make me crabbit.

Having 3 DC is lovely most of the time, but goodness it's so busy. I get a bit of overwhelm and DH probably comes last in the queue for patience/attention.

In good news I've linked up with a faraway friend so we can compare step count, hoping it'll motivate me to move a bit more. :)

Foreverlexicon · 29/08/2019 12:53

We won’t talk about last night 😂

But down 2lb today and back on it.
Date tonight though.

Sounds like a few of us have been struggling lately; come on guys, only a few days left in August, let’s make it count!

BustedDreams · 29/08/2019 17:41

@Sunshinecake that’s great! You’ve done loads of activity! Well done 🌟

@crummyusername bless ya’ so sorry to hear that (((hugs))) Flowers look after yourself.

@Foreverlexicon have a great date ! Wink

Thanks @galvantula Thankfully we don't have shift work in the mix! My patience lasted till 9:05 when DD locked us out despite walking past my handbag and all the other bags waiting to go out and then they argued in the time I went to get the one out of the key safe

Good news on a buddy too! My friend is doing SW, so not the same principles, but at least someone to chat to.

I fasted 18hrs before having a few gulps of Coke. Lunch was 18 1/2 hours after last meal! I ate lunch and tea and 2 chunks dark chocolate. Happy with that. Will weigh in tomorrow for my official August result.

Have a good evening @Foreverlexicon

How are you doing @bustedDreams? Docs have kept me on 50mg Thyroxine. Iron still low, so doubling the Spatone.

crummyusername · 29/08/2019 20:14

Thanks for the kind words everyone. @SunshineCake you are right, I need treat foods which are not self sabotaging. I do have some chocolate coated rice cakes which come in small portion packs so that’s one thing that I could have without it having too much impact.

galvantula · 29/08/2019 20:53

I think there's only a few posts until thread doll so we'll need to jump over!

My buddy went running today, so my steps look pants 😅

I'm so not a runner but might need to up my game somehow!

galvantula · 29/08/2019 21:17

BustedDreams · 30/08/2019 06:18

The penultimate day of the end of August.

@galvantula I’m not a runner either. I once went to the physio with an injury and he asked me how I’d done it. I said running. He gave me one of those sideways looks and eye roll combos that said ‘you for real’. He realised I’d seen his expression and stated ‘you don’t exactly have a body built for running, perhaps try swimming instead and keep yourself safe’ Grin

MrsJGoesExploring · 30/08/2019 08:15

Good morning lovely ladies. The thread is indeed nearly full!

I've come to check in with my final result for August - 12.5lbs down!

Start weight 81.1kg
Today 75.4kg

MrsJonesAndMe · 30/08/2019 08:42

Sorry, that was me with a slight name change ^

galvantula · 30/08/2019 09:04

I was 61.5 today, down from 62.3kg at the start of the month.

Happy with a loss, hoping for a bit more this month now I've got rid of the stealth exercise calories messing up my MFP.

I actually love swimming @BustedDreams, I should really try to get out to a pool while the kids are at school and nursery sometime. Swimming with them is more like walking around helping the wee one just now! I've got some arthritis so running would probably be spectacularly bad for me.
