Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Well done! Fellow Trekkie?

This morning I had 2 eggs scrambled with a little butter and a splash of milk for breakfast, and lunch i have had a 100g tub of greek yoghurt with a handful of mixed berries. Drinking lots of water.

EnsignRoLaren · 29/07/2019 13:52

Oh yes @beenrumbled! Big fan 🙂

Nice low carb work. Isn’t 100g of yoghurt just the smallest portion! I sometimes have yoghurt and nuts for breakfast.

zenasfuck · 29/07/2019 14:06

I'm in. After losing 6 stone 3 years ago my weight has crept back up, in part due to illness but also laziness.
Currently hovering around 14. 5 stone and want to get to 12.5.

Will be doing intermittent fasting and clean eating combined with lowish carb

beenrumbled · 29/07/2019 14:22

It's tiny!

Caved this afternoon and has a thin slice of cheese and a small slice of ham.

Dinner is going to be stirfried mushrooms with peppers and garlic (in a little oil) with some mixed salad leaves.

Triceratopmeup · 29/07/2019 14:31

So, after being good all of last week I fell at the final hurdle & drank a bottle of wine last night!! Blush I had kept to 1200cals foodwise though, so it wasn't a total wash out... I hope, I was too scared to step on the scales this morning!!

Back on it today & just about to head to a kettlebells class to sweat out all the badness!!!

Toitoitoi · 29/07/2019 17:10

I'm in. I have put on a stone this year 10stone 12lbs. I was 9.12 last year after ketoing. I would like to get back to this as my body aches at this weight. Sad Will start on the 1st August as I am on holiday on Cornwall atm and am 2 pasties down already one with a portion of chips that the kids left!!

Jupiter13 · 29/07/2019 17:29

Enjoy your holiday...☺️☺️

Cary2012 · 29/07/2019 17:45

I would love to join please, you all sound lovely and friendly. I have lost 21 pounds since late May by doing 1200 cals a day. I'd love to lose another stone and a half. What has worked for me is cutting out all white carbs and saturated fats where possible. I now eat three meals a day whereas before I would skip breakfast, snack on processed food then over eat on my main evening meal. I can't do low carb, have tried but feel unwell on it. I have a small amount of complex carbs with two meals a day and so far so good. I was very hungry to start with, but now have a much smaller appetite, and I stop when I'm full. Don't like the idea of 'syn' foods, so allow myself a little of what I fancy and count it into my allowance. Good luck, we can do this!

dancingmom · 29/07/2019 20:47

Please can i join? I lost 6lbs in July and hoping for at least the same again to take me down from a hefty 12st 12lbs which is really depressing me. I'm doing keto and aiming to get to 10 stone something!

I'm finding it strange eating so much fat but I can feel how already my carb cravings have diminished. It's a bit of a pain having to cook so many meals though.

Anyway glad to be here!

MrsJonesAndMe · 29/07/2019 21:08

Weighed in at 80.6kg Blush which means BMI is 27.6

Food shop being delivered tomorrow.

Good luck all!

EnsignRoLaren · 29/07/2019 22:09

Welcome @Cary2012 - wow, 21lb is fantastic since May!

EnsignRoLaren · 29/07/2019 22:10

Welcome @dancingmom and new joiners! I feel like an epic spreadsheet of total weight lost by this group is required 😀. —Not volunteering.—

Coming over from the July thread.

Very disheartened by my plateau in the past 2 weeks. No loss. Rethinking my approach on this as the weight technically should be dropping off as I'm over 3 stone above my ideal (pre-pregnancy) weight & with my first was not this difficult to lose.

Ordering the Fast 800 book this week to see if that can help me on my way.

EyeEyeCaptainCaptain · 29/07/2019 22:46

I'm also thinking of ordering the fast800 book. I've managed today on just my m and s ready meal for tea with a load of broccoli and coffee/lots of water.

Will have a full calorie day tomorrow but make sure I don't go over 1800.

I've also managed loads of steps today by forcing my family to go for an evening walk with me, but it was actually a lovely way to end the day.

Ihatesundays · 29/07/2019 22:52

Can I join too. So in July I went down a dress size and hardly lost a pound. Might have to do a structured diet rather than calorie counting.
Currently 76.8 kilos. Desperate to be under 70 kilos though!

Ziggzagg · 29/07/2019 23:01

I'll join if I can??

Not very happy but stepped on the scales on Saturday and was 17st 11bs. Started intermittent fasting Saturday and low carb, cutting out bread, pasta, rice and potatoes (my 4 favorite foodsSad)

I lost so much weight for my wedding in 2018 but it all crept slowly back on and more!

suchsweetsorrow82 · 29/07/2019 23:21

Good day today. Stayed under calorie target. Walked 20,000 steps (5000 of which were at my exercise class). Perhaps not drank enough water. I struggle with that.
Weighing in on Wednesday. Target is 10st which will be a 10lb loss so far 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

FiveShelties · 29/07/2019 23:23

Checking in for August. Am hoping for an excellent couple of days to end July with.

BustedDreams · 30/07/2019 05:22

Good Morning Ladies & welcome to @suchsweetsorrow82 @Oysterbabe @RiddleyW (you can do it!, I did) @beenrumbled @EyeEyeCaptainCaptain @zenasfuck @Toitoitoi @Cary2012 @dancingmom @MrsJonesAndMe @Thismummyruns (welcome back) @Ihatesundays @Ziggzagg & @FiveShelties (welcome back). Apologies if I’ve missed anyone. It’s great to see so many on board.

We can do it ladies, we really can! Visualise how you’ll feel by eating healthier, feeling slimmer, clothes becoming looser. How it all makes movement easier and less painful (some of us, not all). How others respond to you. Just feeling more svelte and toned can actually increase libido Grin

Hello all. I was in the July thread.

I think I’ll only of lost 2.5-3lb in July but I’ve come to realise my brain just CANNOT handle strict diets (long term history of eating disorders) and when I try I get obsessive and then end up binging. I am 11lb down from the start of May though so it’s ticking down.

My plan for this month is to ‘Make good choices’. I was counting last month and it did work and I started to lose more consistently but then it took over my life and I started binging and then I want to purge and it just isn’t worth it.

Yesterday I made good choices even when I went to costa and a friend offered to buy me an iced coffee and a cake. I just had a peach iced tea Grin

Today’s planned food;
Weetabix with nuts and berries
Cup o soup with Ryvita and satsumas
Apple
Weird South African dish leftovers which I made last night which turned out to be delicious
Chocolate mousse

HMRC have messed up my tax so I am doing a challenge of minimum food shopping bar fruit and veg to use up my cupboard supplies and save some money. At some point i’m thinking of swapping breakfast for diet shakes - seems an easy way to cut out a couple of hundred calories plus breakfast is always a massive rush anyway.

BustedDreams · 30/07/2019 06:13

Hi @Foreverlexicon welcome back! 3lbs is a great loss and definitely in the right direction. You yourself knows what works for you and what behaviour could be triggering. Well done on your Costa wise choice! I’m not sure I could have been so resolute in a coffee shop. I love my joe I do Grin. But I did refuse fish & chips last night, so that’s something. Sorry to hear the HMRC have messed up. I hope it’s sorted quickly. Have a good one!

Cary2012 · 30/07/2019 06:32

Thank you @EnsignRoLaren! I did kick start it by doing low carb for ten days, just to kick the sugar habit and I think I lost half a stone during that time, but probably a lot was water. I felt lousy though and decided to calorie count and eat a little complex carb with two of my three meals a day, and have lost a steady 2lbs a week since, which is great because I am late fifties, so I am lucky. I still avoid the sugar though! Good luck everyone, I know we've got this!

Oysterbabe · 30/07/2019 06:43

Thanks for the welcome and links.

I've just had my breakfast of black coffee and water and about to get ready to walk the 2 miles to work. As usual I'm still undoing the weekend damage at this stage of the week. I really need to reign it in.

Cary2012 · 30/07/2019 06:54

Well done on your loss so far @Foreverlexicon. I know what you mean about calorie counting taking over your life! I divide my 1200 daily allowance into three meals: 200 breakfast, 300 lunch and 600 dinner, with a 100 left in case I go over slightly. If I stick to this I can have 100 snack in the evening, or a cheeky glass of red wine. It helps me to have a stock of breakfast options that are under 200 cals to choose from, so I no longer have to count. I don't like oats, wish I did, but I can't stand the texture. So I have overnight all bran (about a small cup) soaked in a little skimmed milk. Then I add a tablespoon of total 5% yoghurt and chopped strawbs or raspberries. Very yummy! Or a poached egg on a slice of wholemeal with a scrap of marmite. Or a cup of shreddies with a little skimmed milk. All under 200 cals. Personally, I find this is enough to take me through untill lunch. A slimfast shake has about the same cals but has 13 grams of sugar, which would give me a bit of a craving for more sugar and wouldn't fill me up. I hope you don't mind me suggesting alternatives.

RiddleyW · 30/07/2019 06:59

Has anyone heard of/ used the book the kindness method? I’ve got the audiobook of it and it’s helping me. It’s all about reframing making better choices (in my case around food) as being kind rather than punishing.

Also just weighed in and I’m 3lbs down since this time last week! I’m going away for 5 nights tomorrow and I’m hoping that little boost will help me not go mad on holiday! It’s just me and a 4 year old so I need to not hit the booze and crisps in the evening! 😩
