We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Morning all.
I’ve had a really really tricky week, haven’t felt myself, works been stressful kids have been worse and I’ve slipped.
Not surprised to have gained 0.5lbs
Am annoyed with myself that I resorted to old ways but will learn from it. I knew I was struggling last week, getting a bit to blase with my approach. I didn’t binge and I didn’t go over my calories other than on one day. What I did do is eat fat rich food- not good fat either- some chocolate, a curry etc
Clearly I cannot do that, I knew abstaining was the right approach 😂
Will knuckle down this week, need to drink more water and less Diet Coke too- I’ve gone right up to where I was previously in drinking that stuff but I’ve been so exhausted it’s all that’s kept me from falling asleep at my desk- water would’ve done me more good though!

Hope everyone’s had a better week!

Lizadork · 02/02/2019 09:40

Week 2
Lost 4lbs
Total 10lbs

Had a good week but need to focus on adding more fruit/veg and drinking more water. I had two snicker bars yesterday but thankfully still kept under my kcal allowance. Feeling a little disappointed progress is not faster but slow and steady wins the race as they say.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 02/02/2019 10:21

Liza 4lbs is huge! That's 1.8kg, or just shy of a 2L bottle of fizzy drink. That's incredible in one week!

This week I've not been very careful and there's been a bit of snacking that's not found its way on to MFP.

Loss this week: 1lb
Loss to date: 91.50lbs
To lose: 21.25lbs

I've crossed the 6.5 stone barrier, and that's means less than a stone and a half to go! Yay!

Now, sausage and bacon sandwich. Grin

Biting the bullet .... started 2 weeks ago on mfp. Trying to reduce my carbs and making sure I am eating my 5 a day. Real issue with sugar unfortunately. Fat my whole life. Feel too fat to exercise!

Want to visit Sourh Africa at Christmas but don’t want a seat extension....

Starting weight 21st 11.5lbs Jan 19th
Current weight 21st 2.5 lbs Feb 2nd
Loss 9lbs

hereforthelonghaul · 02/02/2019 11:20

Morning all

Another solid week here. It has been over a year since I've had a full month of good eating.

Planning to add exercise back in February. My clothes are feeling more comfortable again.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 02/02/2019 11:34

Hi Stirrer! If it helps, I've been using mfp for 364 days now, and I've lost 5 stone, 2.75lbs. You can definitely be in "normal" seatbelt range by Christmas! You've made a good start already. I didn't start exercising until I'd lost about 60lbs. Sort diet first, then start building in gentle exercise in to daily life. Fezzes is fab at that - YouTube us a great resource and she used to make time in between chores for walking etc.

Well done here. That's a great NSV!

Thanks honey and congrats on hitting another weight loss milestone.

Quandary2018 · 02/02/2019 12:08

Well done everyone! Some great losses so far!

I think I’ve got stuck food wise and am bored- I’ve basically stuck to the same breakfast, lunch and dinner for the most part since October- it worked and I was getting results plus all my macros

Can people give me ideas of what they eat each day (I’m aiming for 1300-1400 calories per day)
I need to switch things up so I don’t derail myself completely
Thanks

hereforthelonghaul · 02/02/2019 12:14

My meals are higher calorie, around 500 Quandary so don't I'll be much help. I'm sure there's lots of sites with x00 calorie recipes? I'm not surprised you are bored. I love variety in my food, well except for breakfast which is normally one of four or so options as I don't think at that time of the day.

hereforthelonghaul · 02/02/2019 12:22

Also as an alternative you could switch your macros around a bit? Providing I hit my protein and calorie target I am not overly fussed around the fat/ carb result

Don't fix what isn't broken though!

fezzesarecool · 02/02/2019 14:39

Well done everyone! Great results for everyone

Not weighing in this week as I had the flu, so water retention, no exercise, but if ‘comfort’ food and now on Af. So really can do without looking at the scales, new week so I will koko.

marcopront · 02/02/2019 15:14

I'm feeling stiff after cross fit on Thursday but managed a long swim today which was great. I just tried the first yoga with Adrienne but can't sit cross legged and couldn't be on all fours for that long, so I'll give that a miss for now. Any suggestions for yoga for the obese?

FromDespairToHere · 02/02/2019 15:28

Just found this thread, hello!

I'm at the start of a looong journey. I've lost 8lbs since the start of the year, with another 132lbs to go. That's far too daunting to think about so I've split it into 10lb chunks. Only 2lbs till my 1st target!

hereforthelonghaul · 02/02/2019 16:30

Quandary

My lunch and dinner today are both 400 calories. Lunch is honey sesame prawn and vegetable stirfry with rice and dinner is a tuna salad with croutons and parmesan cheese and balsamic vinegar.

hereforthelonghaul · 02/02/2019 16:32

Hi From Well done on a great start to the year. I have about 120 pounds to lose so I will be here all year!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 02/02/2019 18:56

Hi from, well done for finding us!

Quandary I have porridge with mashed banana and peanut butter for breakfasts usually. Or bacon sandwich on weekend. Lunch is a homemade soup (although the "Glorious" brand are nice and low cal) with carrot sticks and houmous, and some crisps. Gets plenty of fruit and veg portions in too! This week I'm having either tomato and basil, or French onion.

In summer I have a big old salad with houmous as the dressing, with protein of some sort thrown in. Ham, (vegan) cheese, mackerel, etc.

Some recipe ideas by calorie www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/category/healthy

categed · 03/02/2019 08:14

Well done everyone, it looks like a decent start to the year 😊
I weighed in today, i have managed 800 cals all week and enjoyed some lovely new meals. I have exercised (walking/cycling, indoors) for at least 20 mins every day adding in light hand weight as well. I have hit my 11000 step target and my fluid in take daily and am pleased to have lost. Stomach problems are easing off and i have so much more energy. Roll on the next couple of months and hopefully a fitter slimmer me will emerge.
Week 2

Weight today 19st 12lb 1/8oz
To lose 134lb
Lost. 11lb 1/8oz

FATEdestiny · 03/02/2019 09:11

That's a really great link hereforthelonghaul, thank you for sharing. I use the BBC Good Food website a lot for ideas, but to have all of the healthy ones in the same place is worth me bookmarking.

Quandary2018 · 03/02/2019 13:55

Thanks for the link hereforthelonghaul, lots of really good ideas there which will hopefully help me stay on track.

I’m 2 stone down, I should be really pleased and cracking on with it. Don’t know what’s wrong with me but I know I’m not going to derail myself!

hereforthelonghaul · 03/02/2019 17:25

Glad the link is helpful Quandary and Fate I was worried it may come across a bit twattish just posting a link so glad it didn't! BBC good food is an easy to use source. I like it a lot.

In the main macros group I'm in, someone just posted some links to diet breaks which can be two weeks every 4 months for someone of my size.

Does anyone else do this here?

HoneysuckIejasmine · 03/02/2019 18:40

Well done Cate, 11lbs in 2 weeks is incredible!

Thanks for the link, here, that's really helpful!

Fezzes you sneaky thing! Well done you. Grin

Quandary get yourself to a supermarket asap. Get a basket, put in two tins of beans and 6 2L bottles of coke. Carry it around for a bit, then give yourself a shake and keep going! 2 stone is a huge amount! Just because we're all aiming to lose a lot more than that doesn't mean it's not to be celebrated. I bet you'll be pleased to put that basket down. If you stop now, or go off track, you know that 2 stone will creep back on again. You don't want to carry that basket for the rest of you life. Lecture over

No I don’t honeysuckle, I really really don’t.

I’m in a slump, haven’t been sleeping properly because of work stress and that’s led to me making poor tootle choices.

I’ve spent today doing food prep for the week so that that’s taken care of and hopefully my sleep will improve as work should be less stressful this month.

Everyone’s doing so well, it gives me the motivation to keep going
