We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Hi Lizadork, well done on losing 7b alredy 👍

Lizadork · 29/01/2019 00:17

I'm on day 10 calorie counting. Food has been helping to numb my emotions and cover my boredom. I am being a bit strict on myself now because I want to see who I am without food filling up so much of everything. Eating between 1200 and 1750 kcals a day, having three set meals and one snack. Not ready to exercise yet. It's on the agenda.

Cultofpersonality · 29/01/2019 18:03

Well today was a major write off!

We had pizza at work. So my plan was to have the pizza and then my lunch for dinner - just soup so only 150 or so calories.

Then I went on my break and there was left over pizza. That I ended up eating. Only 2 slices but still much more than I should have had.

It is only one day though. I’ll have to work on my willpower. And push myself extra hard at the gym tomorrow (!!!)

HoneysuckIejasmine · 29/01/2019 21:56

Exactly Cult, it's just one day. Draw a line. Tomorrow is a new day.

Hi Liza, welcome. Well done on your loss so far. May it be the start of something big!

Hi all, I would love to join in if that's ok.

I started using mfp and calorie counting on 6th jan and have lost 10.8lbs so far. Started 286.8 and as of yesterday was 276lb. Alot to lose but happy with progress so far. Have been using Fit in 5 exercises on Sky, and workouts from youtube as well as walking everywhere when I can. Got a cheap fitness tracker too so I can keep an eye on steps and averaging around 8-9000 a day so would like to work on this. The first day I got it on new years eve I wore it and went about my day just as I would normally and only did 2500 steps. This is what shocked me into trying harder and feeling motivated.

Mfp target is 1710 cals per day, and i dont eat back exercise cals. Hoping I can weigh in every Monday and keep on losing.

Cultofpersonality · 30/01/2019 10:15

Hey zebra welcome!

10lbs is a great loss so far! Well done you :)

Weekly weigh in Wednesday.
No change. I’m not surprised after yesterday to be honest. In fact I was expecting a gain.

Sooo
Start - 287
To lose - 70
Current weight 282
Total loss - 5

I know I keep banging on about it, so I’m sorry it’s boring, but it’s finlal gym day. I’m so nervous. But have downloaded the coach to 5k app that I plan on doing on the treadmill, so I’ll just get on with that and hope people won’t pay attention to me!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 30/01/2019 14:47

Hope your gym trip was successful Cult. I went to gym today but forgot to out my Fitbit back on after taking it off earlier (to count steps with pushchair I put it in my pocket).

5k, 48 minutes. Tired now.

Can I ask what MFP is? I've seen it mentioned a couple of times on this thread. I'm just trying to eat a bit less and move around a bit more. Starting with bending at the knees when picking washing, socks, crisp bags off the floor in my lads rooms. Smile

Cultofpersonality · 30/01/2019 15:19

The gym was great honey. I feel really good!
And the best bit is, nobody stared at me! Hurray.

Wow, that’s fantastic time!

Hey Lisa
MFP is MyFitnessPal.
I use it to track calories and weight but you can add your exercise to it too :)

moonlight1705 · 30/01/2019 18:48

Due date today and not a thing happening....ho hum!

On the plus side, I got the tape measure out as measured my thigh, calf and upper arm and have lost an inch off each area. Smile I'll take that as a NSV......stomach may have gone up a bit!

LisaDV11 · 30/01/2019 19:04

Thanx cultofpersonality

fezzesarecool · 31/01/2019 12:45

Cultofpersonality Fantastic NSV going to the gym!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 31/01/2019 13:44

Can I join you?
I started about 3 weeks ago. I've been swimming almost every day, on MFP and today did circuit training. I've lost 5lb in two weeks and I can also see my tummy is getting smaller.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 31/01/2019 19:55

Hi Marco! What a great start to the year, well done!

OP posts:
zebrarobot · 31/01/2019 23:38

I finished 9 cals over today but also did nearly 9000 steps (great considering it was a work day and i sit at a desk all day) , and managed a cardio and a kettlebell workout too. Got tomorrows food all planned out too

HoneysuckIejasmine · 01/02/2019 06:28

Well done Zebra. With your exercise it sounds like your calories were about right!

OP posts:
rugbyrocks · 01/02/2019 12:39

Can I join too?

Start weight - 218
Loss so far - 6lb.

Using MFP too and counting calories. Exersice too but I find I don't lose weight with just exersice.

Lost about 4 stone using Scottish Slimmers but put it all back on plus 2 stone. Want to make the long term changes that I didn't last time.

Definitely feel I have found my people here.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 01/02/2019 13:24

Hi Rugby, well done in your loss so far! Losing weight is definitely mostly down to diet! But exercise is so important, fitness is equally vital for healthy living. Smile

rugbyrocks · 01/02/2019 13:55

Hi Honey thanks for the welcome.
Totally agree exercise is great for general health and also mental health. I am lucky that I love exercise and sport.

BrokenWing · 01/02/2019 13:58

Start 1st Jan 2019 - 268 lbs (19st 2lbs)
To lose for 1st target -10% - 27 lbs (17st 3lbs)
Current weight - 256 lbs (18st 4lbs)
Total loss - 12 lbs

I've no idea how much I need to lose in total until I get closer to it as it has been so long since I was under 14 or even 15st. Currently happy setting -10% mini targets so the bigger picture doesn't scare me off!

MFP is working well for me so far and my Excel graph helps keep me motivated too, love seeing it go down each week! Would prefer an app that shows calories over a week so you can easily see where lighter and occasional heavier days balance out.

Next weigh in on Tuesday should see the 1st stone gone!!!! Keeping to no snacking and portion control through Feb and hopefully another 8 - 12lbs (its a short month!) gone and I will feel more up for some exercise but have some minor mobility issues now.

Not quite sure what form that exercise will take yet? Certainly nothing too public until I build up some confidence! ds has a treadmill and some weights at home so might use them but no idea how without doing any damage (to me or the treadmill), need to get googling for fitness plans for larger ladies.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 01/02/2019 14:08

Broken welcome! You can do that in MFP - click on the pie chart. You can see calories total and also net, taking in to account exercise done.

zebrarobot · 01/02/2019 17:28

Ive realised ive joined in but havent put my weight.

Start weight on 6/1/2019 - 286.8lbs

Not sure on goal weight yet just taking it week by week.

Current weight as of Monday this week (28th) jan) was 276lbs so loss of 10.8lbs so far.

Weigh in every Monday so will update then.

My calorie goal is 1710 just now. It started at 1800 and has gone down since losing weight but Ive decided I am going to leave it where it is at the minute. With the exercise im doing as well that im not inputting into MFP, and the fact that i weigh so much to begin with, I think i will stick at 1710 for now until I see the weight loss slow down and go from there. I worked out my TDEE (not exactly aure what that is but seen it on other threads and it was 1900 so i think considering im exercising too i should be losing weight at 1700 for a while. I see alot of others aiming for 1200 caloriesbut I wouldnt be able to do that at all ! Would end up raiding the biscuit tin!!

Cultofpersonality · 01/02/2019 17:46

I didn’t even think of it like that fezzes thank you!

That’s a fantastic loss so far,zebra!

I’m off to the gym again this evening. It’s on my way home so be stupid not to really.
Hoping it’ll make me as knackered as I on Wednesday!
