We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible…......... 🌟 1205.75lbs 🌟 since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing!

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Absolutely Post. I struggle a bit because my allowance is only 1350+200 for breastfeeding so 1550. Which sounds like loads but it's hard to eat filling foods within that quota - high protein tends to be high calorie too. Except prawns but I can't afford to eat loads of them and DH doesn't like them anyway.

To be honest Honeysuckle 1550 sounds like bugger all to me . It was at that point when trying to lose 2lbs a week that I felt quite unwell and tired so decided to lose less and up calories.

Fezzes I read that too. However I’m quite optimistic as find I can still lose on 2000 plus cals a day, often eat about 2100 to 2200 and still can lose about half a pound a week. Which at my age i’m very very happy about.

honeysucklejasmine · 04/09/2018 15:11

Oh really? That's my allowance for 1.5lbs a week, and I don't always manage to lose that. Other calorie counters, what's your allowance?

I'll be getting a Fitbit next month so can be a bit more accurate on how active I am during the day. But actually my loss is fairly consistent and not huge so I guess it's accurate? I mean, if I were really active I'd be losing loads of weight on a low calorie budget, I guess?

Hopefully my new "no, you can't eat all those exercise calories" rule will help keep things in check a bit more.

I’d taken up running at the point I felt shit though so decided to go down to a pound a week.

Found this TDEE calculator helpful. Will be interesting to see what the Fitbit says. They take a bit of time to adjust to you at first and a lot of people find they overestimate, mine seems to underestimate but think that might be as I generally have a low resting heart rate.

FATEdestiny · 04/09/2018 15:55

I eat around 1200 calories. It can be under 1000 cal some days and 1500-1800 is a typical Sunday for me (when I have Sunday Dinner as my treat meal).

My fitbit says I've burnt around 2500 cal a day over the school holidays, down from 2800 average during term time. I don't track calorie intake religiously though. I have 2 or 3 weeks every 4 or so months where I weigh and record everything on the fitbit food tracker. I just do that to ensure my estimates are reasonably well collaborated. I haven't done any food logging for a good couple of months though. I could easily be up to more like 1500 cal a day now, especially since my rate of weight loss has slowed.

FATEdestiny · 04/09/2018 15:58

fezzesarecool, is DD home yet? How was her first day at school?

fezzesarecool · 04/09/2018 16:35

FATEdestiny Thanks for thinking of us

She had a fantastic time! Lots of chattering away about what she did and thought it was very important to tell me that she used the toilet twice 🤣

Glad the first day is done with, very proud mummy to see her skip off without a second look back although a bit sad she doesn’t need me! Lol I can’t have it both ways

strawberrypig · 04/09/2018 16:37

NSV, I've been brave enough to ditch my baggy tops and put something form fitting on! I don't look the greatest but it helps me see how far I have come. I am only 1lb off being a third of the way there 🎉excuse the mess in my daughter's bedroom. First picture 257lbs, second down to 226.

fezzes so pleased day 1 went well!
So it turns out shedding 2 days in a row from absolute inactivity was a mistake. I'm shuffling around like I'm 80 Shock

honeysucklejasmine · 04/09/2018 16:54

Strawberry you look fab. Can see your shape much better now.

Fezzes glad she had fun.

Number ha ha, oh dear! Are you stretching?

Fate what sorts of things do you eat typically?

OP posts:
FATEdestiny · 04/09/2018 16:59

Strawberry, you're looking great! Definitely a noticeable difference. It took new (smaller) clothes for people to first start noticing my weight loss.

I plan on taking weekly photographs to track my changes once I get to healthy BMI. I fully intend to keep going and lose another 1 or 2 stone. But I want to be less focused on weight and more focused on body shape as I get properly slim. So I'd like to stop weighing myself completely (unlikely, I'm addicted to the scales) and instead do measurements and photos.

I fit a Size 8 Dorothy Perkins jumper yesterday. I've not told anyone in real life that yet, because it sounds so unbelievable. I don't feel like a size 10, let alone size 8! Yet I fit a size 10 everywhere now.

Numberofthemouse · 04/09/2018 16:59

strawberry you look brilliant!
honeysuckle not enough I think!

FATEdestiny · 04/09/2018 17:14

Fatewhat sorts of things do you eat typically?

Im really boring and predictable in my meals. So that's easy.

I only eat breakfast if I feel hungry after my run, which I usually don't. If I do it is 40g of porriage oats and half water half semi skimmed warmed in the microwave and eaten as it comes (I don't like my porriage sweetened). I have that on average twice a week. Many weeks I don't have breakfast at all.

Lunch is always the same. Home made hummus (just chickpeas blitzed with their own juice - 1 tin makes 2 portions). Sometimes with garlic and lemon juice. Sometimes with half a tin of tuna stirred in. Then 1 sliced pepper and 4 whole celery sticks. If I'm hungry I'll have two different coloured peppers.

Dinner is a family meal. I don't ever do pasta or potatoes (except Sunday dinner). Rice once a week, quinoa once a week. Usually salad and couscous once a week. Two veggie meals (with quorn) twice a week. There's always a mid week roast chicken. 3 portions of veg at least each every meal.

I try not to have any desert or pudding (except sunday). If I do it will be protein heavy like Halo Top or greek yoghurt and fruit. But not every day.

I don't snack at all. This is a big rule, I only eat at meal times.

Then I'll have 2-3 litres of sugar free squash through the day. And loads of coffee (with a sweetener and semi skimmed milk).

What's you're estimate of calories in that?

Id guess at porriage is about 300cal, lunch 200cal and dinner I aim for 500 cal. Then coffee and squash and allow some calorie leeway for if I have a desert or a big portion of dinner.

PostNotInHaste · 04/09/2018 17:18

Strawberrypig bloody hell, big difference, excellent !!!! And Fate a size 8 wow !!!! I’m very proud of us all on here.

Fezzes, so pleased she had a good first day.

alwaysontimeneverlate · 04/09/2018 17:58

Hi all can I join.

How much weight have you all lost?
I'm just starting out got 100lb to loose. First weigh in yesterday and lost 8lb so am pleased with that but I expect it'll slow down. What were your starting weights abs height. I'm 5ft 8 and was touching 20 st Blush

moonlight1705 · 04/09/2018 18:03

My goodness everyone has been busy on here today. fezze glad your DD had a lovely day.

Right, I think I'm definitely getting a bump rather than just looking fat now.....what do you all think?

Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... Part 6!
Numberofthemouse · 04/09/2018 18:17

always welcome!
moonlight Definitely a bump! How many weeks are you?

PostNotInHaste · 04/09/2018 18:22

Yes definitely a bump Moonlight!

Welcome alwaysontime I’m a couple of inches shorter than you and was 19 st 1. I’ve lost about 105lbs (started November 2016).

alwaysontimeneverlate · 04/09/2018 18:27

Wow that amazing @PostNotInHaste well done. I'm feeling very determined at the moment so we'll see how I get on. What size were/are you if you don't mind sharing

PostNotInHaste · 04/09/2018 18:43

I didn’t wear anything fitted on bottom half before so think I was probably a 20/22 bottom and 22/24 top. KOKO (Keep on Keeping On) is the thread motto and I live by it !

moonlight1705 · 04/09/2018 18:44

number I'm 19 weeks tomorrow Grin

alwaysontime I'm 5ft6 and started out at 21st. I was a solid size 22 all over. Now I'm bordering on a size 20 and am 19st 7

Getoffthetableplease · 04/09/2018 19:29

Hey everyone, a lot to catch up on! So I'm now on day 5 of slimming world (on my own) and it's going great so far. I struggle with my mental health but when I'm eating right it generally makes me feel that bit more energised to take on the day, plus the guilt disappears, so I'm currently riding happy on that! Just need to KOKO now, that's my biggest downfall, one bad day and I'm my own worst enemy. Too impatient!

alwaysontime I'm 5 foot 5 and my start weight (last Sat!) was 241.4lb or 17st3.4 (I think) size around 18-20 although nothing fits right. I've decided to weigh in pounds this time as with 100 to lose I'll be progressing at a percent per pound which I think will help motivate me more Grin

FATEdestiny · 04/09/2018 19:30

Hello alwaysontimeneverlate. I'm shorter than you at 162cm (just less than 5"4) and started at 17st 8.5 and a BMI of 43.8.

I've lost 95lb since 1st January 2018. Less than 1 stone to go to healthy BMI.

Was buying size 24 but everything I wore was baggy so not very certain of my actual size. Now fitting size 10 in most shops (and fit my first size 8 this week).

Numberofthemouse · 04/09/2018 19:53

getoffthetable virtually the same. 5 foot 5 and 17 stone 1.8!

fattyboomboomboom · 04/09/2018 20:41

I'm afraid I win here at 5'4" and 18 stone 7 - about 259 I think. A size 26 Blush
