We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible…......... 🌟 1205.75lbs 🌟 since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing!

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Getting in there early with a happy new year to everyone.

I think we’re all achieved so much than we ever thought we could in 2018. Thank you for going through the ups and downs with me on the weight loss, I seriously couldn’t have done it without the support on here.

Last non scale victories of 2018 has been looking at the Christmas photos and not cringing. Also going to soft play with the kids and climbing with them and going down the slides 😄

Best non scale victory is going to Boot Camp, seeing what I can physically do and actually making friends and being able to be open about my weight journey.

It’s crazy to think I’m 90lbs lighter and I’ve still got at least 40 to go but I really feel like I’ve been given a second chance. All because I thought let me just see if I can actually try this.

Next year I want to finish this journey and hope to carry on with my new fitness outlook and to enjoy being healthy.

Ive got in the next set of weights and some boxing gloves 😂 It may take me a while and lots of ups and downs too but 2019 here we come!

Looking forward to koko with you all and hope everyone has a great night. See you all next year.

FATEdestiny · 31/12/2018 11:08

I've put 9lb on in 2 weeks. 9st 9 up to 10st 4

I can't say this surprised or traumatizes me. I have eaten all the chocolate, cakes, rich food, calorific drinks. I've weighed daily so I saw the weight creeping up. I've run at least 10km every day though, including Christmas day. Such a change from last year.

It's nice to have the challenge of losing it all again in January. I saw the attached meme and it struck a chord with me.

In other news, I have titalledup my running miles for the year and I have run over 2000 miles / 3000 km. I'm very proud of this.

Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... Part 6!

FATEdestiny The great thing is reconsidering that weight gain isn’t the end of the world and you know your reason for it. The best part is we’ve got to a point where is know ok, that’s fine, line drawn and get it back in check before it becomes a out of control problem.

The last few ‘off’ months has been a good break for me and I’ve learnt a lot about maintenance and Balance when not being strict.

fezzesarecool · 31/12/2018 15:11

Ooooh boxing pads arrived today (must be a sign for New Year) very excited for dh to come home so I can do some punching 😄

AnotherOtter · 31/12/2018 22:35

Ah, I see, honey. It didn't translate to new habits for maintenance. One of the things I am trying to do is get used to eating normal portions of treats without triggering binges. So one cupcake, not half a dozen. It's still a work in progress which is okay; I will keep trying. Been doing incredibly well over the holidays but doesn't really count at the moment.

Well done for STS, moonlight. Thyroxine requirements usually go up in pregnancy so great that you are on a dose where you feel good. You don't have long to go now! Very exciting.

Those are all great NSV, fezzes, and lovely to hear you sounding so positive. You have made incredible progress this year.

That is an amazing running total, FATE, very impressive.

Happy new year, everyone! Smile

fezzesarecool · 31/12/2018 23:31

AnotherOtter Thank you, we’re having a quite one tonight and actually I’ve just decided to do the Leslie Sansone 1 mile walk over midnight. Ending and starting it how I want to go on.

fezzesarecool · 01/01/2019 00:22

I did it! I literally feel the mojo returning Let’s all smash it

Happy 2019 to all and wishing everyone a very healthy and happy new year

HoneysuckIejasmine · 01/01/2019 08:44

Congratulations Fezzes! It's so lovely to have you posting regularly again. Hopefully you've found your maintenance time useful!

AnotherOtter sadly not. It's only now that I'm learning about portion control, and as you say, tackling urges to binge!

Happy new year, everyone! Let's hope 2019 is the year a few more of us hit targets. Smile

This year I have 2 more stone to lose, plus whatever I have gained over Betwixmas.

MagicKeysToAsda · 01/01/2019 10:25

Welcome Lolly good to have you here. What is your plan for today to get you started? One day at a time is about all I can manage, and that's 18 months down the line Grin

Happy 2019 to all, hope you have a healthy positive year. We're off for a walk after lunch, looking forward to the fresh air.

fezzesarecool · 01/01/2019 11:17

HoneysuckIejasmine Thank you and very glad to be back! Tbh I think I just really needed a rest from it all as still got a long way to go but at least it’s not as long as it once was

Lolly34h welcome! It’s a really friendly and supportive group feel free to ask anything and vent the emotional side of this journey

Also welcome to any lurkers, don’t be shy say hi and dive on in My favourite saying is 1 year is 365 opportunities so just take the ones you can

Lolly34h · 01/01/2019 11:21

Well I've walked to 3 shops today 4000 steps down I'm making a conscious effort to walk 10000 steps a day of not more. I'm gonna clean the house vigorously and cook a lunch for the family. I have decided portion control is where the trouble is so I'm gonna eat a sandwich plate portion of whatever meal I cook. If I don't over eat and excercise then surely I'll start to lose weight.
Ordered some new bathroom scales so I will do an initial weight when they come Friday and go from there.
I'm currently a size 18/20 depending on where I shop and would love to be a comfortable 16 March That's my short term goal I've set myself. I do believe it's achievable.
Also applied to do a college course cause I think boredom plays a huge part in my weight.

fezzesarecool · 01/01/2019 12:25

Lolly34h Sounds like a great plan and yes it will definitely give you results. Excellent achievable size goal too

I went right into the old exercise routine, word the wrong underwear and gave myself a wedgie but powered through 😂

Jes11 · 01/01/2019 19:12

Hi can I join this group as I have over a hundred pounds to lose. I weighed this morning at 21st 5lb and I need to get down to 11st 11lb. I am new to Mumsnet. I am 37 and life has been challenging the last few years with different things so the stress has been a big part in my weight gain. I grew up with a mom who weighed at least 50st and I vowed I wouldn't end up like her but I feel like if I carry on like this then I will. So I am taking back control today.

fezzesarecool · 01/01/2019 19:23

Jes11 A big welcome to you, here’s to taking back control!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 02/01/2019 10:14

Hi Jes, welcome! It's never too late to turn your life around!

Lolly great start to the new year!

I had a bad day yesterday. At the in laws for the day, no exercise was done and (due to limited choice because of food allergies) bad food choices were made. So, that was officially my last day of shit eating. Back to being a sensible, "on it" person. Dreading Saturday morning though 🙈

Plus side, DH back at work so he's going to get my delayed Christmas present (a new fitness DVD) so I can do that tonight.

fezzesarecool · 02/01/2019 10:24

HoneysuckIejasmine I think we’re all dreading the new year weigh in 😂

But that’s teaching me that tbf there are certain times of year this will happen and the difference is we are aware and we don’t just think it doesn’t matter and let it all add up again

HoneysuckIejasmine · 02/01/2019 13:21

we are aware and we don’t just think it doesn’t matter and let it all add up again

Yes! So so true!

I'd done so well after Christmas but it's gone a bit wrong since then! Back to first principles I think.

DD wants to go to the park. It's sooooo cold. Better suck it up and go, I guess.

I've upped my step target to 12,000, increased my MFP goal to 2lbs a week (I never manage to lose the stated amount, so maybe I might manage to lose 1lb a week now), and lowered the calories I give myself for breastfeeding to 100 (from 200). Hoping to kick start the new year!

DH has the DVD. Yes! It's Davina's new one - Power box and tone. My cousin (he's a muscle machine sports science lecturer) has recommended me some exercises to strengthen my lower back too, as it's rubbish and effects how well I can do some leg exercises. I am on it!

fezzesarecool · 02/01/2019 13:32

HoneysuckIejasmine I’ve jus recently got into boxing, I think I actually found my ‘thing’ Please let me know how the dvd is (you know I love a good dvd)

I exercise yesterday but food was crap. First principles for me too now. Stage one get back into exercise and hopefully it’ll knock stage 2 food control back into action.

I was trying 1200 calories but think I’ll go to 1,500 to get it back into control and actually eat back the exercise calories. Slow approach to getting back on it.

Mini goal seven weeks tills half term so want to be in a good routine exercise and food wise by then.

fezzesarecool · 02/01/2019 13:41

Actually I’ve set myself a walking challenge this month as a minimum exercise type thing if you want to join me with your steps?

I want to do at least 80 miles this month and if for example that’s all I’ve done it’s certainly better than doing nothing. If I can do 100 even better.

So as a minimum that works out to 3 miles a day (out of 27/Monday to Friday). If you want to compare notes on the 1st?

HoneysuckIejasmine · 02/01/2019 19:21

Oooh yes! I did 125km (of measured exercise, rather than including pottering around the house etc) last month so was going to aim to beat it this month. 125km is about 77 miles so 80 miles sounds the perfect target.

God, what has happened to us?! Who are we?!

WitchDancer · 02/01/2019 19:24

Can I join please? I've got 6 stone to loose, much to my embarrassment.

I can't do much exercise due to medical conditions, but I'm going to try to do a little each day.

I've lost weight before on Slimming World, so am going to use the same principle. I've ordered me a food diary from eBay and will start when it arrives, which should give us time to get rid of all the Christmas treats.

fezzesarecool · 02/01/2019 19:37

HoneysuckIejasmine 😂 Happy and healthier!

No idea if I’ll reach that goal but nice to be motivating each other on

HoneysuckIejasmine · 02/01/2019 20:23

Witch welcome! You can definitely do this! Don't be put off bymus old timers talking about exercise. I didn't do any until I'd lost about 50lbs. Weight loss is mostly about diet, so don't stress.
