We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible…......... 🌟 1205.75lbs 🌟 since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing!

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Lost 2 lb this week, despite curry and beer last night. Only ate 1 random cheese sandwich at work. Totally ignored the economy cheddar in the fridge. Absolutely no crisps X

Non Scale Victory

About 6 months ago when I'd just started running, I tried a few basic strength exercises alongside C25K. I was obese and had never exercised before, I couldn't do the strength exercises at all thetefore stopped and just focused on running (and now run about 30 miles a week).

This week tried some strength exercises again. I can not only hold full plank for 60 second, I can also do proper press ups! Just repeats of 5, but I couldn't even get into press up start position (ie full plank) 6 months ago, and certainly couldn't complete a press up without having my knees on the ground.

Now that I have ample cardio exercise from my daily runs, I am going to start building some strength and muscles

Quandary2018 · 10/11/2018 14:00

Stayed the same again!!!

I weighed midweek and had gained 3lbs so am actually ok with being the same as last weekend and not having a gain.
I went to my parents last weekend and had pizza and apple crumble with custard, not huge portions but clearly too much!
As I’ve said before, I really am one of those people who gains weight just by looking at food.
I have to be so careful. Am still 9lbs down from a month ago so am pleased.
Going to be really stringent on food between now and Christmas. My fitness pal is really opening my eyes to how many calories are in things and how quickly they add up!

slithytove · 10/11/2018 14:32

Had my weigh in on Tuesday and lost a pound - very happy with that as it was a challenging week and I had an evening weigh in instead of morning, plus got my club 10 award.

Current total of 23 lbs off
Still to lose 55 lbs

Am hoping for a 2-3 loss next week. Next mini target, 2 stone award (5lbs to go)

Where does everyone want to be by Christmas? I’m hoping for a total of 2.5 stone off

Sorry for double post

fezzesarecool · 10/11/2018 16:32

👋 hi to all the newbies

I’m still hanging in there, just about! Not doing a weigh in

However I’ve had a better week with food and did a Boot Camp this week. It was really good, I’m in serious pain and I’m going back for more next week! 🤣

Hope everyone’s ok and sorry I’m here and lurking!

fezzesarecool · 10/11/2018 16:35

slithytove
I wanted my 100 lb off by Christmas.

However lack of mojo etc so I’m at peace with 90lbs off so far.

I’ve got all of next year Koko 😄

FATEdestiny · 10/11/2018 18:30

I'd really like to get to 8 stone by Christmas. But this last stone is going verrryyyyy slowly.

3lb has taken 7 weeks to go. I'm 4lb off 8 stone loss (7st 10 currently), but with the snails pace of the recent loss there are no guarantees I'll get those last 4lb in time.

My initial aim was to be a healthy BMI by 1st January 2019. I got there by the end of September, so really I'm now just working towards Bonus Points.

honeysucklejasmine · 10/11/2018 18:51

Froglet congratulations on your loss and your cheese avoidance!

Quandary mfp is great, isn't it? I knew what food was healthy and what wasn't, but the actual calorie content, I had no idea.

Slithy well done on your loss. There's a huge difference in morning and evening weights so well done!

Fezzes hey lovely! 90lbs is huge! And well done on the boot camp etc.

Fate I'm aiming for a final loss of 8 stone too. May well end up being more. I'm not quite so close to it though!

By Christmas, I want to no longer be obese. I'm about 5 pound away from that but don't weigh in until tomorrow.

Sacked off park run today, went out to a Forestry Commission site instead. Ended up walking almost 7km so more than park run anyway 😂 Took it slow because I'm having a flare of my joint disease but luckily (?!) it's mostly impacting my arms at the moment so can still walk.

I'd love to be a part I'm coming back to read later tonight.x

moonlight1705 · 10/11/2018 20:20

Hello all, I've put on 1lb this week which is not too bad considering.

So will koko as I head towards the rest of third trimester.

fezzesarecool · 10/11/2018 22:10

Alexandra2018 Welcome to the group, the more the merrier

honeysucklejasmine · 11/11/2018 10:23

Loss this week: 0.75lbs
Lost to date: 79.50lbs
To lose: 33.25lbs

Slowly slowly. I didn't deserve to lose this week - I've gone over almost every day. Hoping for a better week this week. I need to make some soup I think, I'm running low and getting bored of what's in my freezer.

OP posts:
MagicKeysToAsda · 11/11/2018 15:40

1lb off this week not entirely deserved as there has been some (lots) hormonal eating. Quite a few challenges in the week ahead - 3 meals out - so if I manage to not gain through that I will be pleased!

honeysucklejasmine · 13/11/2018 20:09

How is everyone getting on?

OP posts:
strawberrypig · 14/11/2018 09:44

I've been off plan for the past few weeks, been really hectic with holidays, my birthday and interview prep and the interview itself. I've accepted an offer, so will be a student again in September. I have been doing this with no end date in mind, up to now, but I think this is a great opportunity to have a goal date.

I had dominos pizza on Monday, DH was away and I was shattered after a busy day at work. I was so ill yesterday! I am back to my usual food now and I enjoyed my salmon and broccoli 🥦 far more than that horrid pizza.

fezzesarecool · 14/11/2018 11:40

Same old ‘mindset plateau’ at the minute but going to boot camp again tomorrow night so the willingness is still there deep deep down 🤣

FATEdestiny · 14/11/2018 11:53

Did an 8 mile run this morning, my longest in a while. My mindset is good, I'm in the maintaining / slow weight loss zone now my BMI is under 25.

My damn thick waist is doing my head in at the moment - Fat coming off my stomach is the very last place and it's do stubbornly hanging on.

Was looking to buy from Joe Brown's online but without the ability to try on, I used their measurements guide to (try to) figure out which size to get. So my chest measurement (32") is a Size 8. My hip measurement (36" - I have no bum) is Size 10. But my waist measurement (best i can tell is 32", but the area is very "squidgy" so depends on how tight I pull the tape) is Size 14! It's a dress I'm looking to buy, no frigging clue what size to get.

I cannot wait for this Middle Age Spread around my tummy to go so I can feel properly slim.

PostNotInHaste · 14/11/2018 11:58

Maintaining the 100lbs just about. Been to GP for bloods as I’ve been a bit suspicious that thyroid or iron levels might be low so taking it steady as a bit knackered. Great news on the offer Strawberrypig!

slithytove · 14/11/2018 20:26

Woo lost 4.5lbs! No idea how but I’ll take it.

Current total of 27.5 lbs off
Still to lose 51.5 lbs

0.5 lbs to my 2 stone award

honeysucklejasmine · 14/11/2018 23:02

Wow slithy, well done! In a week?

Fate what style is dress? If empire line, go for an 8/10, but if it's got a fitted waist... Don't buy it unless you are capable of taking in the top half. I love an empire line (i.e. tightest under the bust) because my bottom half is bigger so I get it all nicely fitted and lovely on top and then it skims over my belly and thighs.

I am struggling again today. I had a joint flare which settled, then I stupidly did too much, and now I'm flaring again. I never learn! I've had this disease for 13 years and I still don't know when to rest properly. Ffs!

moonlight1705 · 15/11/2018 08:01

Well done slithy - that's a great loss and must be so satisfying being close to that 2 stone.

How are you feeling this morning honey? Hope you are taking it nice and easy.

I am having a bit of a crap week, Uni essay stress, my DH deciding to have a panic about workload and work being daft. I haven't binged too much although I did make myself pancakes when I got home last night and ate them with butter and sugar Sad My aim today is not to go buying the ton of chocolate that I want.

slithytove · 15/11/2018 11:16

In a week! And it wasn’t a good week either. I was fortunate in that last week I weighed in in the evening which would skew my results a bit, so over the fortnight I’ve lost 5.5lbs which I’m really happy with. I’m hoping I can get in the 13 stone bracket next week.

AnotherOtter · 15/11/2018 11:18

Not much news with me: still maintaining roughly at a BMI of 24 and 95lbs lost and still wanting to lose around another ten pounds to get my waist measurement down. Have had a lot of medication changes and starting another new one today so I'm not sure how things will go over the next few weeks regarding weight. I am still logging my food on MyFitnessPal and just got a 500 day streak which I can't decide is excellent or a bit sad! Still walking every day and running three or four times a week. Part of me thinks I should change things up to try and shift the last ten pounds and part of me thinks I should just stay in this holding pattern until the medication changes are sorted out.

Moonlight, sorry to hear you are having a rubbish time. Sounds like you have a lot to juggle. I know the siren call of the chocolate... but will it actually improve your situation and stress levels or just add to it? Hope things settle down soon Thanks

Honey, sorry that you're having a rubbish time too Thanks I have had my chronic disease for over two decades and I still make newbie mistakes at times as well. Try not to beat yourself up: you live and learn. Hope your flare is over quickly.

Well done on your loss, slithy.

Good luck with your bloods, Post. Fingers crossed your tiredness is sorted out soon.

FATE, I absolutely share your frustration about weight still remaining round the middle! My problem too. I have quite a nice shape from front on but side on all I can see is my protuberant upper abdomen. Good luck with the dress.

Hang in there, fezzes.

Congratulations on your university place, Strawberry! Very well done. Hope the busyness settles down. How is your wee girl getting on?
