We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible…......... 🌟 1205.75lbs 🌟 since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing!

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

You could prob work the Tom kerridge ones to be vegan and there is a good veg section. Most recipes are online x

honeysucklejasmine · 13/09/2018 22:28

Will have a look, moo

Second NSV of day. Registered for parkrun. Question "in last month how many days per week do you do at least 30 mins of moderate exercise?" And I was able to tick the maximum category (4 or more). Ok so I'm not exactly an elite runner (or a runner at all tbh) but there was a time when I couldn't have claimed to do 4 sessions of 30 minutes a month, let alone a week.

Can I join? Started new diet this week got so much to lose it just feels so unachievable. But determined this time next year I will be healthier and more confident

honeysucklejasmine · 14/09/2018 06:19

Hi Chelle, welcome. It can be terrifying but you don't need to face it all in one go. I've just increased my target as I got closer to the end, I feel like I might hit it now, rather than it being ludicrous.

Honey, yes, got home end of last week. Was only in for ten days. Admissions are much shorter nowadays, thank fuck. They were swithering whether to let me out before the weekend but I told them I wanted to do parkrun and that seemed to cinch it Grin I see what you mean now about Strava. There is an auto-pause option for running and cycling but I couldn't see one for walking though we could be using different versions of the app. It seems a big oversight if there isn't one as surely that would be really useful. I found the running auto-pause very useful as I would set Strava to record then spend half an hour tucking my phone away and it would only restart the timer once I actually started running. Could you use the running mode and edit it afterwards? iOS 122* is due on Monday though I will be waiting a few days for the inevitable bugs to iron out. Maybe that will help? Frustrating that the stats aren't accurate. That kind of thing annoys me too.

Thanks for the information about the protein powder and your routine, Cantankerous. I have bipolar disorder too and also taking vitamin D and magnesium. The vitamin D I do think is useful (I am religious with SPF50), plus the NHS increasingly seems to be recommending it, but I'm considering dumping the magnesium as not convinced it's doing anything other than giving me expensive urine! What have you found?

How are you getting on with mapmyrun, Magic? Are you running through city streets or in the country?

Welcome emma. 30lbs by Christmas is definitely doable and think how nice it will be to start the New Year with that under your belt (so to speak Grin).

Well done, Getoff. That was a big mindshift for me too. Also the "I'll just finish them so they're gone"... I am not the fucking rubbish bin! I salve my conscience by putting leftovers in the food recycling now.

Welcome Chellefy. I found breaking up the whole total to lose into smaller goals was helpful, eg get under the next stone bracket, lose 10lbs, etc. Some folk have written out lists of smaller goals. At the start I didn't believe for one second that I would get into the normal BMI range where I have been for four months now. I started at a BMI of about 41 and my big aim was under 35 and I didn't even think or daydream of any further. But it's all added up and here I am. Of course the last stone to lose has been a right bastard and I am sick of pissing about so really appreciate the support on this thread. How do you climb Everest? A step at a time. Smile

AnotherOtter · 14/09/2018 10:31

I am obviously feeling better as that was a giant essay even by my standards! BlushGrin

Getoffthetableplease · 14/09/2018 10:59

Thanks AnotherOtter, I like the Everest thought too Smile

FATEdestiny · 14/09/2018 13:09

honeysucklejasmine · 14/09/2018 16:02

Amazing Fate! Congratulations!

AnotherOtter I love your essays. I've got a Android phone, I need to have a play with the settings.

Buggy walking at parkrun tomorrow. Yikes.

Fate that's so inspiring, well done!x

AnotherOtter · 14/09/2018 17:08

Congratulations, Fate! Very well done StarStarStar

Good luck at Parkrun tomorrow, honey. Lots of parents walking with buggies at mine too so should be fun Smile

CantankerousCamel · 14/09/2018 17:17

Down to 17.05

Whoop!!! Just a few kilos to go and I’m under 100 again!!

strawberrypig · 14/09/2018 17:25

Congratulations Fate, that is such an achievement!

FATEdestiny · 14/09/2018 19:02

Thanks everyone. Also a massive non-scale victory. I've been apple shaped for ever a long time, with a thick waist.

My weekly measurements (in inches) have gone from 33 35 38 last month, to 33 33 38 last week, to 33 32 37 today.

Hello Waistline!!

It is the very first time that my waist is the smallest measurement.

honeysucklejasmine · 14/09/2018 19:33

Oooh well done on the nsv too fate.

Camel well done! Love milestones like that.

AnotherOtter that's good to know. My friend is convinced we'll piss people off being so slow but I don't think so. Our friend who is a parkrun regular has volunteered to be the rear walker so we'll not have to worry, bless her.

Realised this afternoon that I've gone below 200lbs! Last weigh in I was 199.75lbs, I believe.

Huge congratulations Fate!!! That’s fabulous with the 100lbs but also really impressive with the measurements.

Welcome to everyone new.

Otter so glad you are home and good luck tomorrow and to Honeysuckle, lots of buggies and walkers at mine too. We’re going tomorrow with a couple of friends, none of us have been for ages and this is first time since my op. All a bit prone to getting caught up in the moment and all need to ease back in gently so rules are no Strava and no pain, no puking.

I’ve had an incredibly shit week with various things going on including lovely neighbour whose husband died recently being taken ill and currently in hospital. Was literally taking calls off landline and mobile at same time yesterday and I’d put one down and it would ring again, in the middle of trying to have a rare catch up with friend. And I’m on day fucking 8 of period.

Serious line to be drawn. DH did much better than me this week and has kindly said he’ll do whatever I need him to help. Do not disturb mode enabled 7pm to 7am on landline plus mobile and everyone who wants something at that time can just fuck off. Actually if I didn’t give birth to them they can fuck off anyway. I’ll go back on scales next weekend. On the plus side DD has a part time job plus starts degree next week ,her partner started new job this week and they have finally found a lovely flat, will get official moving in date tomorrow, hopefully will be next week. Apologies for rant.

Well done CC!

honeysucklejasmine · 14/09/2018 20:33

Eugh, Post, that sounds stressful! I hope your neighbour is better soon.

Parkrun! In my active wear! sings "active wear" song Argh, bit nervous. I linked my Strava to parkrun, does that mean my time will automatically be logged on Strava? So I don't need to turn it on myself?

OP posts:
PostNotInHaste · 14/09/2018 20:45

I don’t know the answer to that Honeysuckle and get you in your active wear over there, looking good ! I think if you link them then the Strava symbol comes up in your results and people can click through to your Strava page depending on your privacy settings. I might be talking shite again though.

honeysucklejasmine · 14/09/2018 22:04

I guess I'll turn it on anyway, can't hurt. Mustn't forget my barcode!
