We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible…......... 🌟 1205.75lbs 🌟 since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing!

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

fate I made my first houmous batch today. Used a spare roast sweet potato and some sweet paprika to flavour it. Very nice, and I had a huge amount for very few calories. Ha ha! Winner!

Always teach him how to do it then never make them for him again. I really struggled with that sort of thing. DD doesn't eat the crusts of her bread, which I consider the best bit. It's so so hard not to eat her left over crusts. Today I literally put one up to my mouth then threw it in the bin.

Woooooo!

Lost this week: 3.5lbs
Lost to date: 71lbs (5 stone barrier passed!)
To lose: 31.75lbs

honeysucklejasmine · 09/09/2018 08:04

So it turns out not eating all your exercise calories speeds up weight loss. Ha ha, who knew? 😏😂

FATEdestiny · 09/09/2018 08:09

Woo hoo at the stone barrier honey! That's a great weekly loss too.

Glad you liked the houmous.

MagicKeysToAsda · 09/09/2018 08:44

Fantastic honeysuckle whoohooooo! Hope I'm not far behind you. Brilliant achievement, well done.

I watched some Biggest Loser re-runs last night, intending it as a motivation boost because I like hearing the reasons people undertake it. I was struck by how incredibly different they all looked having lost around 100lbs, and realised that I'm almost at 70 off but don't "see" anything close to that kind of transformation in myself. Maybe we should take a leaf out of their books and award ourselves a makeover when we hit a certain number?!

honeysucklejasmine · 09/09/2018 08:49

Thanks ladies, I'm thrilled. It's been really slow going lately, felt I was trapped in the 60s forever.

magic I am going to get a whole new wardrobe when I reach target. I might go get my make up done so I can take some nice pictures but I'm not the type to wear it day in day out so there's little point.

I'm rather thinking of some fitness based goals instead Shock Maybe Snowdon? We took the train up on our honeymoon. Maybe this time we can walk?

Wahey Honeysuckle huge milestone, congratulations!! Asda I love watching things like that for the same reason. I bet you look very different but just don’t see it in yourself. I definitely think ditching the bigger clothes is worth it on the way down if possible. Everything for five pounds and Ebay have been very helpful.

The thing is if you’ve been overweight for years you then have to find what suits you at a smaller size a number of years later and often not the same shape so it’s a bit of a process.

PostNotInHaste · 09/09/2018 08:50

Snowden an excellent idea !

honeysucklejasmine · 09/09/2018 08:50

But yes, magic, I still don't see myself as a thin(ner) person.

OP posts:
FATEdestiny · 09/09/2018 08:53

I don't see that kind of difference in me either, and I'm at 99lb loss. I obviously see that I have lost a lot of fat, but that whole "you look like a different person" thing I don't feel at all.

Mind you, I have a noticeable difference between the "you look so different" I get from most people. But friends who have known me most of my life say things like "this is how I remember you" or "you look like 18 year old you" - like they knew this version of me was always there, but the fat version of me was the one that was very different. I think my mentality matches this one. I feel like the me I always knew I was, but no one else saw. If that makes sence. Confused

PostNotInHaste · 09/09/2018 10:13

Yes, yes, yes Fate , I totally relate to that and was trying to explain it to DH the other day. Park Run photos have helped me see a difference finally as the camera guy is there every week! But my mental image does still fluctuate a lot.

PostNotInHaste · 09/09/2018 10:25

But I don’t have many people living down here who remember me at 18 as was 30 years ago now Shock However very good friend from school also moved down and although I don’t see her that often it is lovely having someone who knew me back then. DH has never known me anywhere near a normal weight and I think is finding it a nice surprise!

FATEdestiny · 09/09/2018 10:41

DH and I bought my parental home from my parents, so I am literally surrounded by people who have known me since I was in nappies! In particular, neighbours of my parents generation like telling me how much I now look like the younger version of me.

AnotherOtter · 09/09/2018 10:45

Loss this week: 1.2lbs
Total loss: 93lbs
To go: 8lbs

I don't feel that I look much different now but, as Fate says, when I gained weight that didn't change my internal perception either. I've met a lot of people lately who have been cooing over my weight loss and it still annoys me and makes me feel judged. What were they thinking, but not saying to me, when I was bigger? Wasn't I the same human all along? I wish it wasn't such an acceptable social norm to comment on other people's bodies, especially women's.

I think you were wise to take before and after photos, MagicKeys. Much easier to see the changes with photos side by side. I just couldn't bear to take starting photos back then. I would now though.

Great milestone, honey! Well done! Star

Great dress, fezzes! Really suits you, lovely colours.

Shingles is very painful, moonlight. Hope you feel better soon Thanks

ChestyNut · 09/09/2018 10:49

This week- 2lbs lost
Total- 61lbs 8oz
To lose- 38lbs 8oz

Busy thread this week! Welcome to the newbies Flowers

Had a horrendous week at work, topped off by a client telling me “ your big but she was reaaaaally big”
Yup thanks for that luv Angry

Will pop back later, food shop is calling!

honeysucklejasmine · 09/09/2018 19:08

Well done losers!

Sorry about your shitty week chesty, people are dicks.

Went for a walk in the woods today. Really having issues with Strava tracking the wrong time, it's very annoying. We were in the woods for an hour. Stopped once to feed the baby for about 5 minutes. Strava claims we were moving for 29 minutes. Hmm

Sooner I get a Fitbit the better. The GPS on Strava is good, but time is totally wrong.

Ok, I've drawn what's hopefully my last graph page. I calculated the gradient required to hit my 12 stone goal - I need 1.75lbs a week to hit it by January.

I have decided to lower my goal though. I am going to go for 8 stone loss, end weight of 11st 4.75lbs. The gradient for that is 2.25lbs a week until January.

Let's see how we do! I think the first is more likely but who knows!

OP posts:
honeysucklejasmine · 09/09/2018 22:21

My BMI will still make me officially overweight, mind. For my height, 11.2 is the top end. My sister, who is a size 10, is 11.3, and my height, so also overweight. At size 10. Hmm BMI is a bit of a blunt tool at times.

OP posts:
MagicKeysToAsda · 09/09/2018 23:24

Hmm, maybe I need a graph! I like your forward planning - your goal is really within reach now isn't it, that's not a huge amount of time at all. Great work!

I very grumpily spent some time on the strava help site on Fri night after my bad experience with it - the advice was to check the battery settings specifically for the strava ap, as apparently the phone can otherwise put it into battery saver mode so strava will stop being able to keep the gps signal updated...not sure if I buy that, but I've changed my phone settings and will see what happens next time I go out.

CantankerousCamel · 10/09/2018 11:03

I’ve not weighed myself (doing it later) but I sneakily took my rib measurements and I’m 2 inches down!! Which means next week I’ll be in the 30s not the 40s! Super pleased with that

LosingLola · 10/09/2018 13:59

I have a new fitness tracker! My partner sent my FitBit through the washing machine by mistake, so now I have a Garmin Vivofit. I've done 10,000 steps the past 2 days and am aiming to keep it up

FATEdestiny · 10/09/2018 14:55

Augh honey, the difference between 11st 4.75 and 11st 2 is about 2 weeks, maybe three at the most. It will feel great you tick that box to say yes, I have a healthy BMI, and it's really not far from your current target.

Go on, you can do it! You will do it! Even if it means giving yourself an extra month to be able to aim for 11st 2 (or maybe a round 11 stone? Or maybe even 10 stone something? How great will that feel Wink)

Oh, and for what it's worth in now BMI 25.5, 5lb to healthy but still in the overweight catagory. I've been a size 10 for the last half a stone loss. In fact I fit some (generously cut) size 8 tops.

Regarding Strava - it might be worth mentioning here that the GPS frequently drops out of my Fitbit tracker, so it's not just a frustration of Strava. I think it's about GPS satellite coverage in the area, rather than the app or phone itself.

CantankerousCamel - fantastic news! Inch loss is the best!

I've heard great things about the Garmin LosingLola, let us know what it's like.

fezzesarecool · 10/09/2018 18:48

Sorry not got time to reply to everyone but thank you and I think someone asked, the dress is from Yours.

Just a quick check in to say I’m in a bit of a fuck it/loss of mojo phrase so staying in control by making it a maintenance week.

I will get my mojo back, but needed to stay accountable and accept not having a great few days in regards to food and exercise. A line will be drawn and onwards and downwards, koko. In the meantime maintenance for damage control.

moocowmrs · 10/09/2018 18:53
