Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 5

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2018 20:04

Hello, welcome to the fifth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible….........Star 1024lbs Star since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing! Grin Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Hi welcome Larry. I'm just doing calorie counting on mfp. I've done slimming world before but the unlimited nature did absolutely nothing for my long term habits - just encouraged binge eating for me.

honeysucklejasmine · 20/08/2018 20:27

Hotel food/eating out - pace yourself. No need to have the starter and the dessert, you can have something else tomorrow. It's not a special occasion so just grab something as if you were home, iyswim. Rather than thinking you'll "treat yourself"

moocowmrs · 20/08/2018 21:24

Evening everyone please can I join! Need to lose 7 stone ! I am fed up of being fat I have an amazing wedding in Italy to attend in Oct 19. I am going to start on 1st September.
My plan is to do MFP. I have lost 2 stone this way before I just stopped and on back it went !

LarryFreakinStylinson · 20/08/2018 21:59

That looks great Fezzes. I might have to investigate further.

Honeysuckle you’re so right! I view ‘eating out’ as a ‘treat’ and so go overboard, it’s silly.

honeysucklejasmine · 21/08/2018 07:06

Welcome moo! It's only 21st August - if you start now you might have lost a few pounds by September. As we say, the time will pass anyway, may as well use it. Grin

FATEdestiny · 21/08/2018 07:49

I am going to start on 1st September

FATEdestiny · 21/08/2018 07:52

Pressed post by accident...

Hello moocowmrs! You have a similar amount of weight to lose as me. I had 7st 7 to lose to get to healthy BMI when I started on 1st January. I've just had a look back to my first two weeks - I lost 7.5lb Week 1 and 5.5lb Week 2. So that is very nearly 1 whole stone you could lose in the two weeks before September starts. Why wait?

Welcome newbies!

We’ll be at the end of this thread soon - I’ll pop a new thread up as we get closer. Just make sure you leave me the last post to link to the new thread!

After that, I’m going to step back for a few weeks as I’m struggling a bit and need a break from the internet etc. But will be back!

Fate, I am in love with your table ❤️ I am a little obsessed with finding new ways to track my weight loss, I have four different weight loss apps and a few charts I am colouring in but this is the bee's knees. I have quite a competitive nature and find beating targets a real incentive to KOKOing.

moocowmrs · 21/08/2018 09:04

Umm I am going camping tomorrow with friends and the children so thought best to wait till I get back, I need DH on this journey so would like to start it with him and while I am at home.
fate I love a good spread sheet ! Can I ask how you have achieved your weight loss have you gone to classes or been self motivated and used calorie counting ?

MindBodyChocolate · 21/08/2018 10:39

Fate I love your spreadsheet!! It’s a great set of stats too.

I’m feeling better again now - had a post holiday dip last week. All my energy went into keeping on track while in France that I almost blew it when I got home. I feel like I’ve ‘stabilized’ again now though and have lost a couple more lbs.

Starting weight: 18’13
Goal: 11’6 (revised to give a round BMI of 25)
Current: 16’12
Lost: 2 stone 1 lb
To go: 5’6

FATEdestiny · 21/08/2018 11:24

I also love a good spreadsheet, I have various graphs tracking progress from the spreadsheet too 😊

AnotherOtter · 21/08/2018 15:37

My periods have changed a lot as I've been losing weight. Initially had no periods at all which I was told was due to PCOS (also have acne and hirsutism). Then after about two stone off and walking regularly got very heavy periods every 6-8 weeks. Ultimate lillets (bought in bulk off the internet) and night pads changed at least hourly, lots of flooding and clots. They gradually got lighter and closer together as I lost more weight and did more exercise and now I have what I would call very light periods (barely need tampons, just pads) every month. It's been one of the most life changing parts of losing weight as I was house bound during my periods before. It's saving me a fucking fortune too! I'm assuming it's due to reversal of the PCOS hormonal changes but whether that is down to weight loss or enough exercise, I don't know.

How are you recovering, Post? Hope things are improving.

How are you doing, notanurse? Thinking of you.

Great NSVs with all the exercise, fezzes! You are doing so well.

Breaking, sounds like you had quite a week! What a shock with your Mum. Has the toothache improved now? If you can't tolerate standard oral iron then I can recommend floradix to increase your blood levels with less side-effects (though it will be slower).

Sounds like you have good insight into how you are feeling, strawberry. Water retention can definitely be a mind game, I've found.

Welcome newbies Smile

moonlight, it's going to be hard eating out so much so just try your best for each meal and if it goes pear shaped, draw a line under that one and start again straight away. Don't end up saying fuck it like me. Exciting about your Masters, good luck!

Sorry to hear you are still having such a tough time, Tractors Thanks** Hope things pick up soon and the break from the internet helps.

I am fighting a case of the fuck its today and wanting to comfort eat as got a big, stressful thing happening this afternoon and a separate cock-up this morning. Sorry to be so vague but just been reading horror stories of mumsnet outings and I'm not out about my mental illness in real life. Instead of comfort eating, I'm going to read over my list of reasons for wanting to lose weight and keep distracting and hopefully this day will end soon!

fezzesarecool · 21/08/2018 17:36

AnotherOtter Sorry you’re having a tough time

What helps me is looking at my progress NSV rather than just the weight loss, not sure if that helps you Flowers

honeysucklejasmine · 21/08/2018 19:47

Sorry you're finding things hard Tractors. Thanks so much for keeping the thread going with your running totals.

AnotherOtter I am also fighting "fuckititis" today. I am suddenly so over having to think about food every damn day. I want to be able to just eat what I want - to checking the labels, no adapting recipes, no weighing ingredients. It's all tied up with the allergy diet, I know, but I am soooo done.

It'll be worth it on Sunday morning, but right now.... Eugh.

Stripeybum · 21/08/2018 22:58

I LOVE your spreadsheet ❤️ But I'm so ashamed of how much I weigh I can't bring myself to write it down in real life. I'm fairly lucky as I'm tall and so I carry it well.

It's pure madness that I won't acknowledge it properly though.

Fezzes I'm like you and am concentrating on the NSVs. Another today, had to do my bracelet up another two notches 😂

FATE I think you're amazing 🙌🏻 Your journey is something else! Again I started MFP but was worried someone would see my weight and know jeez as if it's not obvious how fat I am 😔

I've had a real low few days and a full on hospital appointment today (unrelated) BUT I've stuck to my plan bar one tiny Portuguese tart after that.

I want to be slim!!!!!!

Tractors I'm sorry you're having a break from tinternet ❤️

And Otter I hope your oomph returns soon ❤️

To anyone I've missed KOKO xxxx

PS
Anyone tried hula hooping? My stomach is bleugh

FATEdestiny · 22/08/2018 08:48

Stripeybum,it was only me that knew my weight for a long time. I'd lost 4 stone before I even started acknowledging my weight on an anonymous forum, certainly not in real life. It wasn't until I was 2 stone off healthy (so lost 5 1/2 stone) that I started admitting my actual weight to close family (most of whom were convinced I weighed much less). But I have always kept the spreadsheet.

You sound similar to my DH. He wouldn't weigh himself at first and just went along with my healthy eating. After a bit of pushing from me he eventually did weigh himself about a month after starting weight loss. But it means his start weight is guessed, so he can't be certain of his actual progress like I can.

It also took him a long time to acknowledge what weight healthy BMI was for him. And he flat refused to ever acknowledge the full amount he needed to lose by setting a target weight.

It turns out he needed to lose 5 stone to get to healthy (2 1/2 stone less than me!). But while I was openly saying I needed to lose 7 1/2 he said he needed to lose 1 1/2 stone, that was all. Then it became 2 stone, then 3. Only then did he properly measure his height and set an actual target weight.

Incidentally he is now 10lb under healthy BMI, having lost 6 stone. So DH philosophy of just eating well and not having a target worked for him.

@AnotherOtter I've just read this thread and remembered your post from yesterday:

FATE* excellent spreadsheet and well done you've come so far.

AnotherOtter thanks for the info on floradix, I hadn't heard of that but will definitely be getting some.

Welcome to the newbies

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 22/08/2018 21:11

Thanks for the kind wishes, just need a few weeks of a digital detox. I'll pop up a new thread and a new total tomorrow - in time for the weekend where the thread gets busier Smile

OP posts:
NoTractorsAtTheTable · 23/08/2018 19:56

Jeezo - hope I've not totally broken the thread Blush

You've all chatted far less than I thought, so I'm just going to take the opportunity now to step aside and let you lovely lot carry on without me for a bit Wink. I'll be back in a couple of months to check in.

I'll leave you with our brand new total - we've lost 1201 lbs! Big bunch of losers Grin KOKO!

OP posts:
fezzesarecool · 23/08/2018 21:08

NoTractorsAtTheTable Wow fantastic total! Hope to see you on the next thread when you’re feeling better and a big thank you for keeping the past threads and me going Flowers

fezzesarecool · 23/08/2018 21:47

Holiday accountability (so that I’m not too shocked at a gain on my post holiday weigh in)

Over 16 days
1 Diet Coke
Chip shop x 3
Burger King x 2
Ready salted crisps x 5
White bread x 6
Chocolate x 3
Restaurant x 1

Hopefully damaged controlled by 1,200 calories on all but 4 day’s and 9 runs of c25K (maybe get a start on week 4 tomorrow) and a 24 hour stomach bug. I haven’t drunk nearly enough water either.

Ho hum, going to be interesting and I’ve had a great time.

Home on Saturday night and if I’m very good I’ll resist weighing in till Sunday morning at least but midweek would be better.

MegJoBethAmyMarch · 24/08/2018 13:14

I haven't posted for ages, but I have kept going with the new way of eating (not looking at this as dieting). I was so busy at work and then been away on holiday etc etc. Anyway, I'm not sure how much I had lost when I last posted, although I know I was in the dieting doldrums. 44 weeks in today. I started with 103.5 lbs to lose, have so far lost 64.75 lbs, so have 38.75 lbs to go. Eyes firmly on getting two thirds of the way as my next mini goal.

honeysucklejasmine · 24/08/2018 15:50

Thanks for the total, Tractors, that's absolutely amazing! And congratulations to the losers who have contributed to it! I hope you're back soon. Take care of yourself.

Fezzes hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised. Glad you've had a good time - that's what we're about here after all - lifestyle changes.

MegJo hello, I remember you. Fantastic progress! Well done, and KOKO!

So. I'm feeling a bit crappy this week because I've been doing loads of exercise but the scales aren't shifting. Now, obviously I shouldn't be weighing so often, but my willpower is weak. So, I decided to take my measurements. I'm about 4cm average down on each body part since the start of the month. Shock

An even more shocking thing is to hold the tape measure at what it was when I started so I can really see the difference those cms have made. Oh. My. Goodness. I was really fat! And I am less so not now.
