Hello, can I join please?

Last year I lost 16lbs and got to under 10st for the first time in 19 years (9st 12.5lbs Grin). It felt really good and I was exercising a lot but over the last few months I haven't had the energy to do anything and have put on at least 7lbs back on - I haven't weighed myself for a few weeks and I'd put on 6 by then.

I'm hoping by joining it will give me the push I need.

BeyondCanSeeTheEmperorsBellend · 01/02/2017 09:57

I didn't even discover gin til I was about 28 Grin

BitOutOfPractice · 01/02/2017 10:00

You are very welcome August so long as you don't join in with the ridiculous gin-isn't-an-acceptable-dinner talk

I love gin, I have always drank it, I am particularly partial to it with rose lemonade.

I did shots of gin last Tuesday #yob
I was very tired the next day mind you!

Not2bObvious · 01/02/2017 10:29

Hope you don't mind if I jump in? I'm following mfp, have been reading these monthly threads and love the idea of taking it one month at a time. I started January around 11.10 and have yo-yo'Ed back & forth all month which has made me miserable. I'm going to take tomorrows weight as my starting Feb weight, I need to lose 7lbs this month and I'm hoping a fresh start without looking back might be just the thing. You all sound like you're doing great

KikisDeliveryService · 01/02/2017 11:00

Come on in not2 - I'm now on a yoyo tip having previously been brilliant at the weight loss thing, and I agree, the each month fresh start reset does really help with that and stops me giving up entirely.

KikisDeliveryService · 01/02/2017 11:02

How are you doing beyond? It sounds like you're seriously motivated for Feb!

lastqueenofscotland · 01/02/2017 11:02

The more the merrier!

Shots of gin hairspray?! That's brave.

BeyondCanSeeTheEmperorsBellend · 01/02/2017 11:08

I have to be Kiki, January has just been a complete non-starter. I'm at least grateful that I haven't messed up so much that I put the stone back on that I lost before xmas though Grin

Archduke · 01/02/2017 11:13

Hi everyone really glad to see newbies on this thread, everyone is very welcome.

Someone was asking for some Australian sun so here's a pic my dd took this evening of a spectacular sunset.

Brave or stupid...
I did not feel good the next day Envy

KikisDeliveryService · 01/02/2017 11:19

It was me Smile. The colours Archie! WOW just beautiful.

lastqueenofscotland · 01/02/2017 11:49

Hairspray it's whenever I order anything with red bull in it I always have the fear the next morning. Aiming to keep booze to a minimum this month... And really hit it hard in general going on holiday in March!

ccetsw · 01/02/2017 12:08

Hello, may I join? I had lost post baby weight but 7lbs has crept back on... well no actually I just scoffed in back on and gave up exercise. I've now hit the very ripe old age of 45 and it seems so much harder to shift it.

I tend to Dukan diet for a week, lose 3/4 lbs (all water I am sure)
and then unable to carry it on so put in back on plus one for good luck :(

Low carb def works for me usually. I just got India an Neris Idiot Proof diet - this morning I have had brie, nuts, sausages and eggs... it feels so wrong!

I'd like to lose 5lbs in Feb, well 6 really but 5 is more realistic

KikisDeliveryService · 01/02/2017 12:17

Hello cc! Yes join us please - lots of us in our 40s here I think! The trick is in the not giving up and this is a brilliant thread for comraderie and motivation. My aims are pretty low - a couple of lbs for the month, but ones that STAY off, will do for me!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 01/02/2017 12:19

Welcome all newbies!

Gin and rose lemonade sounds lush, why have I never done that before?

My official end of Jan/start of Feb weight is 11 stone 0.75, hurray! That makes exactly 7lbs down since 4 Jan! I am so pleased with myself!

February goal: 10 stone 7. I'm starting BSD on Sunday so secretly hoping for more.

BeyondCanSeeTheEmperorsBellend · 01/02/2017 12:21

I just had lentil soup for lunch and now I have one of these. They are good, really hit the spot :)

Oh nightmare! BOOP I was gutted last week when I lost a 67 day snap streak Grin I really am a child ha!

KOKO I only ever have skimmed milk in tea and coffee, it is yuk for drinking as is but you barely notice the difference in coffee and tea so with only 35 cals for 100ml I think it is worth it!

I had an early lunch today, bang on 12, and now the afternoon seems awfully long. I just had a twinnings salted caramel green tea, if you see them in the shops don't bother they are gross and very disappointing!

ponygirlcurtis · 01/02/2017 13:24

I also quite like gin with ginger ale. For dinner, of course.

Arch, that is lush. Just beautiful.

I will also be aiming for just a few pounds that stay off this month - I am 8lb away from my initial target, it's slooooooow going but going it is. Although today is already a struggle, so tired after my mostly sleepless night. Poor wee DS2 has tonsillitis but has medicine now so fingers crossed for a better night tonight. And that I can stay steady.

ponygirlcurtis · 01/02/2017 13:29

Oh I did that last year on holiday BOOP, lost a 147-day streak and I was disproportionately annoyed! Don't do what I did and go 'oh well no point logging in/paying attention to what I am eating'.

HairsprayBabe · 01/02/2017 13:33

I use the Fentimans rose lemonade, they also do a jasmine and limeade drink that is amazing!

What is for dinner tonight people?
We are having Thai Red Curry, with Tofu

BeyondCanSeeTheEmperorsBellend · 01/02/2017 13:43

My MFP seems to keep running in the background - it keeps congratulating me on my streak when I haven't logged in for days Grin
