Anyone 16st+ and low-carbing?

Hi, I started on 1st Jan at 18st 10lbs and I have so much to lose, it would be lovely to share my journey with others who have over 6 stones to lose.

I know it's going to be a really long slog and I'll need help staying on the straight and narrow. I have to do it this year, no excuses!

So far I have lost 8.4lbs in first 11 days, but that seems tiny when I've got nearly nine stones to lose altogether. My goal is 10st.

Anyone out there? All buddies welcome Grin

Bumping......doesn't even matter if you're not low-carbing really. It would just be nice to hear from others that have/had an awful lot to lose Smile

Just me then Hmm

LuckyLopez · 11/01/2015 16:56

I'm losing a lot.

Currently 16.11 but though I've cut out bread/pasta I'm not low carbing but happy to join you Smile

PartyFops · 11/01/2015 17:06

I want to lose about 4 stone (should be 6), that's my aim anyway.

I'm not low carbing. I have invested in a fit bit and a treadmill, I aim to burn between 2500 and 2700 calories a day based on the data from the fit bit. I try to eat about 1500 calories a day.

I am doing couch to 5K and on the non running days I do an hour fast pace walk on the treadmill.

I have lost 7lb since 1st Jan Grin

good luck

Macloveswill · 11/01/2015 17:13

Ooh yes please Lucky....when did you start? Do you have a goal weight? And are you exercising?

I'm aiming for 10st and I've started walking (briskly) most evenings and want to get back swimming too.

Macloveswill · 11/01/2015 17:16

Well done on the 7lbs off Partyfops!

And it sounds like you've got the exercise sorted too. I feel a little large to actually run, so thought walking was next best thing for me Grin

Thanks both for joining my previously very lonely thread Smile

LuckyLopez · 11/01/2015 17:24

I'm aiming for 12st. I'm 5'6" and whilst that's still heavy, I don't have a tiny frame so I look good at that weight.

Only started this week (weigh in on Fridays) and exercise is 10,000 steps a day until I'm fit enough to start couch to 5k.

Macloveswill · 11/01/2015 17:43

That sounds a sensible goal Lucky, I'm 5'7 but don't really look slim over 11stone, so 10 is a hopeful wish Grin

Our exercise regime sounds similar as I'm aiming for 10000 steps too. Maybe couch 2 5k in a few stone's time for us both!

Hi, I will join you i have a lot to lose (currently 18st 1lb) to be honest not sure i have a target weight in mind but i would like to be a dress size 16.
I joined LL last Wednesday have now tried all the packs and shakes and just cant take it they taste so vile do quite like the bars though so have been looking tonight at buying the bars from Superdrug and using them instead of going to a lady every week by mixing and matching the bars so as not to exceed 500 calories a day.
This saves me some money as well as currently LL is £72 a week plus any extras this includes a £15 group therapy fee - but there is no group for me to attend so iust have to pay this fee anyway which is quite annoying!
Today is day 4 and just feel a bit annoyed at everything including myself for getting in to this mess!

Macloveswill · 11/01/2015 20:57

Welcome along JoJo! I don't blame you feeling a bit let down with LL if they don't reduce it by £15 when they can't provide the group therapy!

I did LL a few years ago, but didn't manage to keep it off.

I get those annoyed with myself thoughts too about letting myself get to this size, especially as I got down to just over 10st 3 years ago! I've got to learn that it's a lifestyle change and it's for life once I've shifted the weight. I'll never be able to go back to eating like I did. And that's quite daunting.

Just back from tonight's walk and managed 6.39k. I'm still finding it really hard work, but hoping it get's a bit easier soon.

I will join you. I have rejoined the gym. I am going to weigh myself tomorrow and go from there. I will have at least 7 stone to lose now. Just going to focus on each pound. Well done op on your loss so far.

Moglimoo · 11/01/2015 21:09

Jojo I also did LL and couldn't take the shakes etc. lost some but didn't keep it off. The bars were better though.

My target is 11stone. Also off to see Jillian michaels next week for more motivation!

Macloveswill · 11/01/2015 21:22

Welcome Moglimoo and thanks.

Ooh I keep hearing about Jillian Michaels! I'm intrigued to hear how you get on, so come back and tell us all about it.

I love your pound at a time attitude!

LuckyLopez · 11/01/2015 21:58

My main motivation is a holiday next year with a friend who is a teeny tiny size 6. I'm going to look awful whatever but I'm just trying to minimise the horror of sunbathing next to her Grin

Pompbear · 11/01/2015 22:38

Mac, yes - meeeee!
same weight and goals as you. also low carving. lost 8lb week one (started 2nd jan)

Macloveswill · 11/01/2015 22:38

A pretty strong motivator I imagine! Next year though....plenty of time to get a bod that BELONGS in a bikini Grin

Pompbear · 11/01/2015 22:39

am only 5 foot though Sad

Macloveswill · 11/01/2015 22:42

Welcome to our growing thread Pompbear!

How're you finding the low-carbing? I'm new to it and really need to improve my repertoire of snacks....6 Babybels today Smile

OP posts:
LuckyLopez · 12/01/2015 12:33

Hey how is everyone doing today?

For me, food is on track though i do need to drink a bit more snd I've done 4800/10000 steps for today.

Good luck all Smile

Macloveswill · 12/01/2015 16:37

Pretty good today....lost a tiny bit more (I weigh daily) to bring it to 9.1lbs lost.

I don't think I'm drinking enough water either. Might try the 2ltr bottle in the fridge trick to see if I can monitor it a bit better.

Should have done almost 10000 steps by the time I've done my walk this evening.

Well done us! Grin

OP posts:
Macloveswill · 13/01/2015 17:32

What's everyone eating today?

One thing I just can't get used to with this low-carb stuff is that you can eat lots of fat. Just made (and scoffed!) a delicious cheese-topped baked bolognese. It goes against everything I've ever learned about healthy eating, but it tasted bloody good Grin

A long walk is in order tonight to walk it off!!

Hiya! Can I join in?

I started 11 days ago, low carbing.

Start weight: 20st 2.5

Lost 5.75lbs so far.

Height 5ft 7"

Female

Finding it okay so far, not been stupidly hungry, just a headache now and then.

I'm not being super strict on carbs, just cutting the crap out, and have very small or no carbs with meals apart from lots of salad and veg.

Today I've eaten...

Breakfast... Protein shake
Lunch... 2 hard boiled eggs, half chicken breast
Dinner... Tomato and basil fish fillet, salad, avocado, beet root.

Snacks.. Wedge of cheese, protein bar, 2 x Jaffa cakes, an orange.

roland83 · 13/01/2015 23:04

Oh to add, I'm not exercising yet.. Normally I get right into exercise as I'm actually quite fit in some ways still lol.. I can easily play 4 games of squash a week for example.

This time nothing, all it does it make me hungry and slow weight loss.. I'll lift some weights after I've lost a couple of stones..

Macloveswill · 14/01/2015 08:52

Welcome to the thread Roland!

Your food sounds delicious, it will be good see a few different food options for inspiration. Low carb is brilliant for dampening the sweet cravings that normally derail me on most diets....but really needs thinking about when out on the go, I find.

If anyone has any good snack ideas I'd me most grateful.

Just off to visit a friend on her birthday, so wish me luck on the cake-dodging Wink

Just like to say to you ladies that my cousin lost 20 st with a mixture of SW and Dukan diet and some slim fast shakes for good measure. Took him about 2 years to get to 18 st but of course he was looking good all the time. He's tall so he carried it well. He got to 18 st and his goal now is 15 st.

The good thing was he wasn't all flabby. He exercised regularly.

Just hoping it gives you some encouragement. Some weeks he would lose as much as a stone.

He seemed to have the best loss with Dukan.

The good thing is he learnt about portion control which probably wouldn't have happened with alizonne.

Good luck to you all.
I don't have a lot to lose about a stone, but I just see it as chipping away at it bit by bit.

There's just toomuch temptation in the world now compared to when I was little. We are just bombarded with food adverts for sugary, fatty, salty snacks. You can't even buy petrol without a snickers bar staring you in the face!
