Hi, I started on 1st Jan at 18st 10lbs and I have so much to lose, it would be lovely to share my journey with others who have over 6 stones to lose.

I know it's going to be a really long slog and I'll need help staying on the straight and narrow. I have to do it this year, no excuses!

So far I have lost 8.4lbs in first 11 days, but that seems tiny when I've got nearly nine stones to lose altogether. My goal is 10st.

Anyone out there? All buddies welcome Grin

oh well done Mac, glad you had a great night whilst still being good. The scales will thank you for it.

Its bootcamp weigh in tom so i will be keen to see what i have lost - jeans feel looser and tummy flatter. Was trying not to weigh but cant help myself! Just hoping for a good number.

I will be trying out a new recipe today as getting a bit bored of the same few things. Roasted chicken thighs in a lemongrass and ginger sauce with coriander cauli rice - love thai food and it looks dead easy - will report back.

Off cycling with kids today.

flameprincess · 25/01/2015 19:48

Hi all, long time lurker, been reading with interest and would like to join in! Too petrified to weigh myself but I was a size 22 about two weeks ago. And only 5ft4 so soooo much to lose :(
Weight has been creeping on over the past two years and I've been avoiding nights out because all my friends are very slim and I just feel awful about myself when around them. Final straw came when they suggested we all go out for my birthday in Feb and I was just panic stricken as I'd have nothing to wear and have run out of places to shop. Thought I cannot go on like this :(
The only times I have lost lots of weight have been when I've been suffering from depression and its just fell off me - then as soon as I am well again I've piled on the pounds!
On the plus side I've been low carbing for a fortnight now, and I still drank a bottle of wine last weekend (naughty I know) but I felt a lot more comfortable in my clothes this weekend. A dress I used to wear leggings with because it didn't cover my backside - I could wear with tights because it was loose and over my bum!
Got a long way to go but I must admit I'm feeling much better after meals rather than bloated and sluggish, it hasn't been as difficult as I anticipated. Only problem is I seem to have a constant dry mouth, does anyone else get this? I don't know if its just because I used to get so much water from the food I was stuffing my face with and now I'm not...

Mrsstevejones · 25/01/2015 20:09

Hi Flame, the dry mouth can be due to a mineral or salt imbalance (i think), avocados, spinach and other stuff are supposed to be help (useful eh?!).
I often have a cup of chicken stock and that sets me right. Are you on the bootcamp thread? - loads of helpful people with the answer to stuff like this.
Also drink more water i aim for 3 litres a day, apparently the more you have to loose the more you need to drink.

I have the panic when i get invited out, all my mates are skinny and look great where as i feel like i am hiding in something tent like! So i totally know where you are coming from.

I am your height ish and started last year at a similar size - i refused to buy anything bigger than a 20 but they were seriously straining at the seams! I lost 1st 7 lbs last summer on bootcamp in 10 weeks. I then faffed about the rest of the year but basically maintained and now i am back on it properly, this will be my year to do it! Size 18 at the mo but i have lost 6 lbs since new year and i think another couple this week - i try not to weigh too much and go buy clothes as the number on the scale doesnt really matter that much.

Good luck, keep us updated

flameprincess · 25/01/2015 20:43

Hi MrsSJ
Thanks for your reply, I'll head over to the bootcamp thread and have a nosey. I do definitely need to drink more water. I've never really been good at this as I don't tend to ever get thirsty so have to remember to drink - but I'm taking in a water bottle to work tomorrow and if I keep that on my desk I can remember to keep filling it. If anything I'm sure all this will do my skin good! That's great that you are in a size 18, and still going down - you are in the realms of normal shopping size at least :)
I just can't wait to go in somewhere like New Look for instance and not have to shop in the fat section where its just various different colours of smocks.
I won't need to shop for a while I have lots of things I've barely worn or even have tags still on that are size 18 just sat in a drawer.
I'm 28 and really starting to worry about type 2 diabetes as my Mum has it and I'm cursing myself for knowing how high my risk is yet letting myself get this big.

Mrsstevejones · 25/01/2015 20:59

Lack of water really messes up a low carb diet - or so i have read. DH is doing the diet with me and i regularly text him to make sure he is drinking all his water. I do feel like i am sloshing most of the time and my bladder capacity has increased by about 10 times!

Diabetes is a main motivator for me too, i had gestational diabetes whilst pregnant and this means i am much more at risk. My fil has it and its evil. However my blood sugar levels are perfect since doing low carb. The important thing is you are doing something about it, so well done you.

I have a whole wardrobe of 14s waiting for me and a whole load of 16s due to my unrealistic dieting expectations - all with tags on - although some from charity shops so dont feel quite so guilty.

Have developed a bit of an ebay addiction- but at least it keeps me out of the biscuit tin!

Starting swimming tomorrow.

flameprincess · 25/01/2015 21:23

Oooh I want to exercise but finding it hard to get motivated in this cold horrible weather - might take DS swimming next weekend though as an incentive to make me go.
Are you planning a regime or going as and when you feel able?

Macloveswill · 25/01/2015 22:01

Welcome along Flame to our lovely little thread! I know what you mean about going out with friends who are all tiny by comparison and it's really hard. I'm the biggest in most groups I know and it's so hard to get ready for a night out. I do enjoy it whilst I'm out, but then there're always the pics on FB...aagh!

Yes drinking more water is a total bottom ache...but I'm working on it!

Mrs you make me laugh, you are so like me with your clothes...countless times I've bought something to slim into and failed miserably. I have such bursting wardrobes, with absolutely nothing to wear Smile

But, we're doing something about it, aren't we....we will do it...slim by Christmas!

OP posts:
Mrsstevejones · 25/01/2015 22:11

I am planning on going swimming 3 times a week and am starting walking to baby groups and nursery pick ups instead of being lazy and taking the car. It really isnt that far but there is a massive hill and pushing a double buggy up it nearly kills me.

I do have a hazy plan of starting 30 day shred but i had a quick go at yoga meltdown and that nearly finished me off, so might leave it a bit.

I own a million clothes and only fit into about 10% of them!

flameprincess · 25/01/2015 22:38

Macloveswill funny you should say that I've been tagged in a photo from a baby shower the weekend and promptly untagged myself! Timeline review is a blessing ;)

Mrsstevejones I don't live far from my workplace and could very easily walk in 20-25minutes but I am sooo unfit I get out of breath and sweaty ugh! Just don't want to arrive in the office looking a sweaty state but there's no reason I can't walk home - I must get off my arse tomorrow and do it!

Yes DP is always moaning about the wardrobe and storage space I take up with all my clothes - but they either don't fit or I feel lumpy in them. What's helping though is he is eating and cooking the same meals as me as he has gained himself (not to my extent) and wants to lose a couple of stone, its nice we can still eat together.

flameprincess · 25/01/2015 22:40

Oh and loving the "slim by Christmas" goal - need to keep chanting that to myself when I want to give in to temptation.

Macloveswill · 25/01/2015 22:41

I'm walking at least 5 hours plus a week, but also want to start swimming. Shred sounds too scary to me for now, but might give it a go when I'm not quite so huuuge Wink

OP posts:
Macloveswill · 25/01/2015 22:44

Yes flame I'm constantly thinking about 'slim by Christmas'...it's definitely doable and we can definitely do it. Only 7 stone 10 lbs to go haha!!

OP posts:
Mrsstevejones · 26/01/2015 08:27

Hi its weigh in day on bootcamp thread and i am 1lb down since mid week weigh but i think i am 6lb down since new year. My jeans are looser and my tummy flatter. Hubby had a good grope the other day and said my love handles were smaller!

I am not too worried about weight as i know its works and it can sometimes take a week or so to kick in, esp if like me, you have messed around with lots of other diets.

Putting DS in the creche today and will be going swimming, then at lunchtime i will walk and collect DD from preschool.

My goal is at xmas to buy the shortest most stunning party dress. I have a jar that every time i loose a pound i put a quid in. I have ideally 5st to loose but would be happy with 4, its been so long since i was that weight i cant remember what i looked like and it might not suit me now i am old!!!

I will not wear a huge black shapeless dress or something designed to hide my numerous problem areas, i will wear something short, sparkly and fabuullooss that shows off my best bits!

Then i will use all the mental energy i put into dieting into something more productive, fed up of this. I have been on a diet for 10 yrs or so and just got fatter but low carb is a way of life and i am trying to incorporate it.

Good luck ladies x Slim by Christmas - bring it on!

Mrsstevejones · 26/01/2015 21:28

How is everyone today?? I totally flunked on the exercise front - no swimming and no walking, poo. Must try harder tom - will walk to playgroup and back up sodding big hill.

Food wise i was good, i dont think i ate enough. I had BPC for breakfast and 3 rashers bacon with mayo. For dinner i had lamb chops cooked in a red pepper and tomato sauce with butter sautéed courgettes with kale and swede mash with butter. For pudding i had full fat turkish yoghurt and coconut cream. I must have drunk 4 litres of water today and had 500 wees!

An early night for me tonight

flameprincess · 26/01/2015 23:17

Hi all

mrsstevejones I am loving your sparkly dress target! It will be so nice to buy something you actually want to wear and not just 'what fits'

I did walk to work this morning and drunk loads more water, so not feeling so dehydrated today - but the walk killed me! My legs felt like jelly when I got into the office, I'm scared by how unfit I am really. I couldn't manage the walk home :(
Going to do it again in the morning though, it must get easier. How on earth do people join gyms and jump on a crosstrainer straight away?

Your food diary for the day sounds yummy!

Mrsstevejones · 27/01/2015 08:05

Well done flame on the walking - thats such a great start. Even if this week you just walk in, in no time you will be walking both ways.

I used to have a little circuit that i used to do in the evening, that was probably 2 miles and it took me 40 mins. The first few times it killed me too but by about a month i could do it without breaking a sweat. I had very toned legs and bum.Well i did then!

The cold weather and non sleeping kids has put me off but i should start that again. In fact it doesnt really matter what i do i should just do something!!!and stop finding excuses.

Well done on the loads of water, its such an adjustment isnt it, i struggled and still do.

Wishing you a good day x

Macloveswill · 27/01/2015 08:27

Hey Mrs...looking forward to a pic when you buy the knock 'em dead dress!! I love your focus!

Flame the walking gets easier, honestly. I now walk at a brisk pace for at least 75 mins and I'm finding easier than I did just 3 weeks ago. I'm sure weighing less helps too, as its a little less to drag around with me.

Well I'm pleased to report that after 8 days, the scales have finally started moving again. Only half a pound, but I'm pleased with 14.6 lbs in 27 days. So focusing on the bigger picture....slim by Christmas ladies!!! Not just slim, but knock 'em dead slim Wink!

OP posts:
Mrsstevejones · 27/01/2015 09:09

wow Mac thats over a stone in a month, i dont think i will be anywhere near that - must dust off walking shoes!

Some of my numerous ebay purchases arrived - and i did my usual trick of ordering them in a size 16 even though i am very firmly an 18 still, so the result is i have more stuff to add to my mountain of stuff thats too small! DOH.
In my defence most of it is summery and as its bloody freezing i wouldnt be wearing it now - so short term goal is to get into my summer clothes by the time the weather warms up! and keep off ebay!

Macloveswill · 27/01/2015 09:41

Thanks Mrs! Ooh bet it's been fun looking at all your new stuff. Perfect for goal setting too, I'm sure you'll be in them by the time the weather warms up.

I don't think I've got any summer stuff above a size 14 in a smaller size...so it's either 18-20s or 14s, I imagine I'll be buying some size 16s too to get me through I better hurry or you'll have bought up all the good stuff...haha!

I put my coat on this morning (size 20) and it was pretty loose, whereas it was tight across the bust before Christmas. Result! Like you Mrs, tummy feeling flatter too...apparently LC is known for flatter tummies as its normally the carbs that cause bloating.

Onwards and downwards!

OP posts:
Mrsstevejones · 27/01/2015 09:51

Apparently! Low carb is good for getting rid of the visceral fat which is the dangerous stuff. So everytime my jeans feel a little looser i think i am improving my health, just need it to come off of my rugby player arms, thunder thighs and kim k style bum.

LC def gives me less bloat - i never fart on LC (sorry way tmi) i am a bit of a trumper otherwise! (shame face)

My face is def slimmer, which is fab as i am having all my hair chopped off at the weekend. My double chin is smaller although still present! Hoping under the blubber is killer cheek bones, in all fairness its been such a long time i have forgotten if they are there lol.

Macloveswill · 27/01/2015 11:29

I also have the dreaded bingo wings and thunder thighs, but only wish I had a Kim K bottom....mine's huge but not in a sexy, sticky-out way....more in a massive, flat way Confused hopefully the walking should sort out the thighs and bum. Ditto with a bit of a double chin that has definitely reduced and has almost gone.

I have to agree on the flatulence...almost non-existent these days, which has got to be a good thing when you don't have a dog to blame it on!

I like the idea of reducing my visceral fat. Hoping my inevitably fatty liver is getting chance to regenerate a bit too, the poor thing....most of my organs must be breathing a sigh of relief not having to process all that sugar. My pancreas must be putting the bunting out! Grin

OP posts:
Mrsstevejones · 27/01/2015 12:16

I think i read somewhere that low sugar is also good for wrinkle prevention - its a bit late in my case, my laughter lines are no laughing matter but might slow the slide? Something to bear in mind even if the scales arent going down?

This low carbing is giving me dry skin however, on the bootcamp thread they mentioned it may be an allergic reaction to dairy or something to do with candidia (sp). Its odd as i usually have quite greasy skin - has anyone else found this and does it clear up?

flameprincess · 27/01/2015 12:50

Hi all!

Feeling much better today, not wobbly - don't know what was going on with me yesterday. I don't think I am eating enough though so I made sure I had 'elevenses' today and it's made me get through to lunch so much easier.

Mrstevejones I have dry skin all year round so can't comment on that! I use coconut oil on it every other night. The way you are going you will for sure be in those dresses by summer - the wait is agonising though isn't it?

You both mentioned flatulence and I must agree I've not really had much since on this diet - normally at night I can't stop (thank god they are silent!)

I've got an unexpected day off work next week (Friday) so may book myself in for a haircut. I've got some extra pennies as a result of not wasting money each lunchtime on snacks, and takeaways at weekends etc. Didn't realise how much money I wasted - think I deserve a treat with it. This must be how smokers feel when they quit!

Mrsstevejones · 27/01/2015 12:59

just started using coconut oil - was a bit worried about spots but so far so good. I am having a pricey prescription facial as a treat in a couple of weeks so hopefully they can sort it- i am dragging myself out of my baby bubble!

you def deserve a treat! I have also given up smoking and taken up vaping instead and i should be rolling in it but my rediscovery of ebay has put a stop to that!

Glad you are feeling better today.

Macloveswill · 27/01/2015 14:39

Mrs....my skin (esp lips and around my eyes) has been drier too, so maybe it's upping the water as we are that will help? I might try coconut oil too. A nice facial is a lovely idea, I haven't had one in ages!

Flame...glad you're feeling better. A lot of people experience feeling rubbish at first and I think it's just a case of getting the balance right...electrolytes etc. and isn't the penny saving brilliant?! We were spending a fortune on 'treats' before . Basically family sized bags of anything scrummy to eat in front of the TV. I've still got piles of Christmas sweets around the house and haven't thought about touching them. At first I asked hubby to hide them in case I was tempted, but now I know where they are and not cheated once.

It will almost certainly be clothes I spend any spare dosh on, I'm thinking I'll get another stone or so off and it'll be time to have a clear out. Problem is (although nice problem to have!) last time I lost a lot of weight, I wasn't long in a size before going down to the next one, so Mrs you're probably doing the right thing with eBay, then we can afford to replace as we shrink Smile
