Hi, I started on 1st Jan at 18st 10lbs and I have so much to lose, it would be lovely to share my journey with others who have over 6 stones to lose.

I know it's going to be a really long slog and I'll need help staying on the straight and narrow. I have to do it this year, no excuses!

So far I have lost 8.4lbs in first 11 days, but that seems tiny when I've got nearly nine stones to lose altogether. My goal is 10st.

Anyone out there? All buddies welcome Grin

Why do you think you've lost motivation in the past Flame? Was it not working or did you find it hard to stick to? What sort of LCing are you doing? Bootcamp, Atkins, something else? Sorry for all the questions but if you can figure out what's going on mentally you stand a better chance of success.

Just weighed myself, 11st 12lbs so 4lbs off in total since Monday. I'm planning on a normal LC weekend so we'll see what next Monday brings.

LetMeBeLight · 12/06/2015 10:07

Wow, that's excellent Prof, the fat fast clearly worked for you!!

Flame, yes, please do stay on the thread regardless of whether you've been sticking to it or not. If you've been reading back, you'll see that some of us do slip up sometimes (I know I do), but I find that by keeping posting, that slip up doesn't turn into a landslide and I get right back into it the next day.

No judgement here :)

flameprincess · 14/06/2015 18:26

I lose motivation mostly because I like a drink at the weekend. Only a couple of glasses of wine but it always starts a snacking frenzy. I find it relatively easy to diet in the week. Dieting for me has to come with going tee total which is sooo difficult.
I'm also surrounded by slim friends who can eat whatever they want whenever they want and I'm sooooo resentful that I can't do that. I love food! Sweets and puddings not my thing but if someone brings samosas into work I can't have just one, I have to have four...
I'm not doing hardcore LC like some of you, I find just cutting way back on carbs and controlling portions works well for me BUT I have to stick to it.
I can't eat breakfast I have to have been awake for a few hours before my body is receptive to food (then it doesn't want to stop) but I have been having a protein shake in the morning to make sure I'm getting something in.

ProfYaffle · 14/06/2015 19:20

Are you exercising? I find that when I do a good amount of exercise it helps make the weight loss a bit more forgiving, it mitigates the odd slip up.

I'm hardcore LC but find I can have wine (so long as I don't go too mad) at weekends and it's fine. If you have the urge to snack when you have a drink can you plan it in? Eg skip dinner but have a plate of LC nibbles (charcuterie, cheese, olives, capers, chillis stuffed with cream cheese etc or pork scratchings) to hand for the evening?

Sorry if that sounds trite, I'm just trying to come up with practical ideas Smile I do know how hard it is. At the end of the day though, something has to change. I sympathise with the resentment, that's very much how I used to feel. Now I can smugly snarf down pork crunch, cheese and mayo the resentment has magically melted away!

Weighed myself again, I've gained back 1lb of the fast weight loss but that's still 3lbs down overall so I'm happy with that.

GatoradeMeBitch · 19/06/2015 00:47

I'm a stone and a pound down, but I'm not feeling great about it right now. My stomach is still big, it's just getting squishier!! I'm very nervous that I will have a lot of loose skin Sad

blessedenough · 19/06/2015 08:22

Well done Gatorade that's a great weight loss, don't worry about loose skin it just takes a while to catch up.

I fell off the wagon fuckety fuck and now struggling to get back on, I feel awful and can't stop farting!!! I will try a little fat fast to get things going again, so bloody annoyed with myself and wasn't even worth it!!

ProfYaffle · 19/06/2015 12:25

Don't worry about the skin too much yet, Gator. I've found mine has gone back to some extent though slowly. I think I'm going to be left with some loose skin at the end of all this but I can cope with that in exchange for weight loss.

Does anyone here use the forums on MFP? I'm in a low carb group there and they're in the middle of a huge hoo-hah with the non low carb people. We're banned from discussing it over there, just wondered if anyone on this thread is on there too?

GatoradeMeBitch · 27/06/2015 00:32

My issue now is that my body doesn't seem to process carby food like it used to! That shouldn't be a bad thing, but retching into a bucket at 2am because I had nachos and a small pizza (followed by a pudding) seems an OTT reaction from my body.

I'd been doing well I thought I'd have a treat meal. I suppose the treat turned out to be that I wouldn't have absorbed many cals from the food before it all came back up again Sad

I hope you are all doing well! Even though I still have a long way to go, the loss of a stone has made me feel much more comfortable. I don't feel like I'm straining at the seams anymore!

ProfYaffle · 27/06/2015 11:04

Crikey, that does sound like a nightmare! I'm not going to be trying carbs anytime soon .....

Well done on losing the stone, it is nice when you start feeling the benefits of being lighter.

My weight loss seems to have plateaued a bit. I'm still 11st 12lbs, lost 4lbs on fat fast, gained 1lb back when I started eating normally again then lost it again so I'm back to my post fast weight now.

I'm wondering whether to do a LC version of 5:2 where I do 2 fat fast days per week. It was 3 consecutive days that were hard, 2 days across the week may be easier.

LetMeBeLight · 29/06/2015 11:59

Gosh it's been quiet in here lately! I've been absolutely manic at work lately, so not really had much time to be posting.

I've not been doing too well on either the food or exercise front either, but am determined to start over fresh and really make an effort - I always find it's even more miserable being overweight when it's hot. I've put on about 3 lbs from my lowest weight and I can really feel it - I just feel bloated, so looking forward to getting them off again soon!

Hope you're all doing well.

GatoradeMeBitch · 29/06/2015 12:36

I'm still plugging away. It's funny my last post was about being sick, because I was sick last night too! I would be thinking I need to see my doctor, but I know what it was. I was eating an apple, looked down and saw that the core was rotten... I hoped I'd get away with it, but nope!

And this morning the Tesco man brought my shopping, including two diffident kinds of apples and apple juice! I can't look at apples at the moment Grin

GatoradeMeBitch · 29/06/2015 12:36

**different, not diffident!

I hope you're all doing well!

ProfYaffle · 29/06/2015 14:06

Grin @ diffident apples!

First day of my 5:2/Fat Fast mash up today - doing just one day at a time is a piece of piss tbh compared to 3 consecutive days. Let's just see if it works.

Just a quick reminder of our theme tune ....

Macloveswill · 30/06/2015 09:37

Hi all...apologies for my prolonged absence. The funeral was finally held last Wednesday and it's taken until now to get back to my own life and routines - in fact I'm still not back exercising (apart from a few walks) but will start my classes again next week and attempt to dig the shred out again too.

I haven't lost any weight this month, but I have managed to maintain (so still 15st 7lbs) but very pleased with that considering I haven't thought about dieting or my weight at all.

I'm now looking forward to catching up on all of your posts! I've missed you!

SBC Smile

Macloveswill · 30/06/2015 10:21

Aww it's so lovely to catch up on how you've all been doing.

Flame...it's great to have you back! I'm so sorry for your loss. I've just suffered a family bereavement and he was only 22, so I understand what a difficult time you must be having. It's been the hardest time and I've never known grief like it, our whole family are still in a state of disbelief, even after last week's funeral. It has brought us all closer together though. I hope you're doing ok and you can talk to your family.

Gator....so good to see you back too! Huge well done on your weight loss....your body has clearly decided it doesn't like carbs these days...impressive! I know what you mean about making the right choices when in a nice wine haze. I still drink prosecco, champagne and wine far more often than I should and it does cloud my judgement a bit. I just try to pick the least carby option and do the best I can. Overall it usually works.

Blessed....hope you've had better news about the house, it's awful when you're out of pocket through no fault of your own. And nearly down to 13st....wow....soon to be in the 12s!!

Prof...I love that your friends are now pro-LC now that you're looking so good....even the land lady's coming round to your way of thinking. And you're in the 11s!! That's amazing, no wonder they're all on board with LC now!

Letme....sounds like you've been super busy. But 3lbs...pah! You'll have that off in a flash when you get going again. I agree about when it's hot, I always feel huge in hot weather.

I'm loving the sound of this fat fast. So is it just BPC (or pork scratchingsGrin) and a small meal all day?

I've been having green smoothies in the morning, recommended by that Ayurvedic therapist I went to and they seem to have sorted my constipation trouble, but not changed anything else. Weirdly even though I'm the same weight as a month ago, I seem to be looking slimmer and lots of people have noticed. Although 3st 3lbs off, I'm a way behind my target now, but as long as we KOKO, it has to come off eventually doesn't it?!

I'm so proud of us all that we're still going strong 6 months in, despite all of our ups and downs. When the thread hits 1000 posts, shall we start a new one called SBC? Grin

OP posts:
ProfYaffle · 30/06/2015 13:38

Good to see you back! Glad to hear you're feeling a bit more settled now. Maintaining in your current circumstances is fantastic - well done.

The fat fast is supposed to be 1,000 calories a day, 90% from fat. I've still not figured out how to easily calculate the 90% fat thing so I just go for 2 packs of pork scratchings and one small, fatty meal. I'm going to give 5:2/FF a couple of weeks and see what happens.

Macloveswill · 30/06/2015 14:27

Thanks Prof....I might give the FF a go next week on the days I'm not at the gym. I could really do with a boost to get things moving again. Larding up! Grin

blessedenough · 30/06/2015 15:58

Welcome back Mac, hope things are getting better after your loss.

I fell off the wagon for 2 sodding weeks, today is my first day back on it. I stopped exercising, ate junk and felt awful. Now I am feeling like a massive bloater just as the sun comes out! Could kick myself for my stupidity. 5k is less than a month and done sod all training in last few weeks - I am either very good or very bad! I have put on 5lbs which in all honesty is better than I deserve. Back up to 13.8. Tomorrow we find out about our mortgage and whether forever family home is def on or not. I am a nervous wreck I have never wanted something more.

I did run at 6am and still have a long way to go until I hit 5k. Everything gota bit on top of me but clambering out of the rut now.

SBC seems miles off but its good to have a plan!

Psfricking laptop died so excuse even worse than usual typos tablet buttons too small for my fat fingers!!

Macloveswill · 30/06/2015 16:38

Thanks Blessed! It's actually really encouraging that none of us have put on huge amounts of weight, despite falling spectacularly off the wagon. In the old pre-LC days, I'd have walloped a stone on as soon as I took my eye off the ball. You'll soon lose the 5lbs...esp if you keep up the running. Fingers crossed for your house news too!

Mortgage has gone tits up but broker is on the case trying to come up with plan d. So that obvs meant I had to eat ice cream drink red wine and smoke fags - even though I generally try to avoid all those things usually grr. I did run this morning however with a hangover!! So only one foot on the wagon when will I learn??? I have been good today and intend on going swimming this evening. Just want this house stuff sorted it soooo stressful and isn't doing my waistline and favours. How is everyone else getting on???

LetMeBeLight · 03/07/2015 12:30

Sorry to hear about your house woes Blessed, must be such a stressful time. A guy I work with is in the process of buying a new family home at the moment and I was shocked when he was turned down for his preferred mortgage (he's loaded). It's really no exaggeration to say they've tightened up on lending. I'm sure it will all work out for you though.

I could do with a bit of help if possible. I've just been invited to Ascot next week by a work contact. It's in the premier enclosure so I have to look the part but I have no idea what to wear. It doesn't help that I've never met anyone I'm going with. I'm not nervous per se about that, and I'll be fine with the conversation etc, I just don't want people's first impressions of me to be OMG she's huge.

These things were so much simpler when I was slim.

I haven't lost nearly as much weight as I'd hoped to have by now, so am still size 20/22.

Any advice on what to wear (including accessories) gratefully received. I'm happy to spend whatever (as I have a wedding next month where I could recycle the outfit).

helenahandbag · 03/07/2015 12:54

Hi everyone, today is day 19 of low carbing for me and I'm down 11.5lbs in total. I was 14st 12.5lbs when I started (with a highest weight of 15st 10lbs) but I'm so close to the 13's now, I'm dying to finally see it on the scale.

Has anyone else found that their weight stays steady for days on end, not wavering by more than 0.2lbs, then they suddenly lose? I've never experienced this pattern, normal diets always saw my weight going all over the place but since Tuesday morning I've been: 14st 1.5lbs, 14st 1.2lbs, 14st 1.7lbs and 14st 1.5lbs again this morning! I'm training pretty hard three times a week, keeping my water up and eating plenty (tracking calories and carbs on MFP) so it's odd to see the scales holding this steady Confused

helenahandbag · 03/07/2015 12:54

11lbs total*

ProfYaffle · 03/07/2015 14:31

Sorry to hear about the mortgage Blessed, hope you get it sorted soon

Helena - that sort of pattern is fairly common with this woe. You'll see people talking about a 'whoosh', this is when you plateau for a while then get a sudden loss of 4 or 5 lbs. I read somewhere there's a theory that when your fat cells empty, your body immediately refills them with water. Then eventually it lets go of the water - creating the whoosh effect.

Letme - I'm rubbish on the style and beauty front but watch with interest to see what recommendations you get!

Did everyone else already know that Coke with Stevia is not sugar free!!?? I've been buying it whenever the shops are out of normal diet thinking it was just diet coke with a different type of sweetener. Dh read a label today and casually pointed out that it's a mix of sugar and Stevia! Maybe this is why my losses have slowed lately - I'm so cross that I've been sabotaging my weight loss without even knowing it or at least having any fun with it!

Macloveswill · 03/07/2015 14:34

Welcome along Helena. Yes weight loss on LC after first couple of weeks often stays v steady followed by the odd whoosh, when a few lbs seem to come off at once. Well done on the 11lbs!!

Blessed sorry about mortgage, really hope plan d works out, no wonder you're falling off the wagon, it must be so frustrating!!

Ooh Ascot Letme....how exciting. Is it on the ladies day? Just wondering if you fancy a hat too? Def a lovely frock. It's worth a look on ASOS and monsoon who both have your size...then some gorgeous shoes and clutch bag. What style suits you best?
