Hi, I started on 1st Jan at 18st 10lbs and I have so much to lose, it would be lovely to share my journey with others who have over 6 stones to lose.

I know it's going to be a really long slog and I'll need help staying on the straight and narrow. I have to do it this year, no excuses!

So far I have lost 8.4lbs in first 11 days, but that seems tiny when I've got nearly nine stones to lose altogether. My goal is 10st.

Anyone out there? All buddies welcome Grin

Thanks Dowser for sharing that story. What an incredible achievement! I bet you're very proud of him and rightly so. Especially when we all know how hard it is just to lose a few pounds!

It's really encouraging that it's possible to shift a huge amount of weight and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I agree temptation is absolutely everywhere! The chipping away a bit at a time is definitely the attitude to have....great way of thinking!

That's the one thing I love about low carb, my cravings mostly go! I get head hunger and the want to stuff myself with toast, but it's a lot more manageable..

I do feel "odd" though, maybe it's because I'm burning fat, I mean it's manageable but I miss the sugar high and that content full feeling. I'm sure as I get thinner I won't give a damn though lol.

Lost nearly half a stone now in 11 days, really happy with that!

Can't wait to lose more.. I don't want another fat and sweaty summer holiday.. I hope to lose 4 st by the end of June and 4 stone from June to Christmas. I'm a size 22 now and miss buying nice jeans that don't fall down all the time, I don't wear a belt as it's bulky and digs in when I sit down.. A never ending battle that I have to change.

Onwards and upwards!

Hope you avoided that cake?! Lol

Macloveswill · 14/01/2015 21:43

Hey Roland....congrats on the half stone off!!

Love your 4 stone before June and rest off by Christmas idea. That would suit me too.

I went on holiday at Christmas and felt that awful dread that the plane seatbelt might not fit. It did in the end, but certainly wasn't roomy!

So here's to never having that feeling of dread again! And the clothes shopping...don't even get me started on how wonderful it will be to walk into any shop and know something will fit Shock

OP posts:
Macloveswill · 14/01/2015 21:45

Oh and yes I avoided the birthday cake! Another good day Smile

OP posts:
roland83 · 14/01/2015 22:01

Lol yes, clothes shopping, omg, I so miss it.. There is so much I like but won't fit me, especially from the shop Fat Face, they go to an 18 I think, so by the summer I should fit into those nicely.

Even if stuff fits me it looks bad, so what's the point.. No more! Haha, this will be our year. Imagine how good we will feel going down a size or 5 :) can't wait!

I'm very sporty and me and my boyfriend love our winter sports, I can still do a lot but my legs and feet hurt so much, my ski clothes fit badly and I feel frumpy and silly now, despite being good at it. I cannot wait to be back where I was when I was 12 stones.

Well done with the cake, it'll be worth it in the summer!

Mrsstevejones · 14/01/2015 22:19

Hi i need to join in, i have 5-6 stone to loose.

Well done everyone on their losses. I did BIWIs low carb bootcamp last year and lost 1 stone 7 lbs in the 10 weeks. I found it really effective and easy once i got my head around it, it stopped me snacking and drinking wine at weekends. I also ate loads more green veg and tasty food. Next one starts soon, if anyone is interested.

I got a ninja nutri blender for xmas and have been having 2 green smoothies for breakfast and lunch and then a low carb dinner. I feel so much better and whilst i dont weigh myself (makes me a bit demented) my jeans are fitting better - still in my size 18s though - sigh.

Now i feel like i have more energy and will start my jillian dvds tomorrow - probably!!

Would love some weight loss buddies.

I did find when i was in the zone i didnt snack at all, which is unheard of for me!

LuckyLopez · 15/01/2015 12:54

Weigh day for me tomorrow - will be gutted if I've not lost anything. I should have because I haven't cheated once but you never know.

Well done on all your weight losses so far Smile

Macloveswill · 15/01/2015 18:38

Welcome along Mrs, definitely the more the merrier! Chuffed that there're a few of us now as struggled for replies at first (nice to know there are others in the same (large) boat as me) Grin

I'm interested in the boot camp...how do we sign up?

Good luck with weigh in tomorrow Lucky!

I had a little dance around the bathroom when I got on the scales this morning and had creeped into the 17s! Starting weight on 1st Jan was 18st 10.6lbs and this morning I was 17st 12.7lbs...that's 11.9lbs off so far. It's working! Wink

OP posts:
roland83 · 15/01/2015 18:57

Wow Mac, that's awesome! Well done!

I also, got down into the next stone quickly which was a relief to my previously heft 20 stones.. eeek! The worst thing is I went from around 17.7 a few years ago down to 12st 4, and regained it all, plus MORE! Silly me, I shall try not to make that mistake again.

Hope the weigh in went well Lucky?

Mrs, I can totally understand your snacking comment... it's a bit of a revelation for me too. Now a snack is a small piece of cheese, or a boiled egg lol.. In my head I'm thinking, "this won't fill me up", and then all of a sudden it's the next meal time and I haven't sat there starving.. lol.

I really do seem to do much better on low carb, and as a lot of my weight it around my tummy I guess I'm carb sensitive, well that's what I've read anyhow!

Asda delivery arrived today, so I'm well stocked with meat, salad, eggs, more meat, salad, veg etc..

Chops and Veg tonight I think, or chicken stir fry.

roland83 · 15/01/2015 19:01

Food for today:

Breakfast: 1 x Protein shake (Brand call Grenade that I got from Holland and Barrett)

Lunch: Omlette with green peppers, tomato, spring onion and cheese, cooked in coconut oil... 4 eggs.

Dinner: Chops, Veg and a little Gravy.

Snacks: Mini cheese thing, Beef Jerky, Protein Bar.

I know my foot isn't following an exact plan, but it seems to work and I don't feel too restricted. Grin

roland83 · 15/01/2015 19:02

Omg excuse the spelling, I must be hungry.. haha Blush

Macloveswill · 15/01/2015 19:18

Thanks Roland! It's nice to see the numbers getting smaller, eh?! Well done on getting into the next stone down too!

I feel your pain of having lost a great deal and then putting it all back on again....I still can't believe it happened! It's like it happened when I wasn't looking.

Your food sounds yum...I'm not doing any planning either and I'm enjoying bring impromptu about it all too.

Today I was busy all day and somehow forgot lunch...haha that practically never happens!

Food today:
Brekkie: Yoghurt with berries and a little oat bran and a Babybel (natch Grin)

Lunch: nowt

Dinner: grilled chicken, mixed veg, baked field mushroom with cheese and red onions, with cauliflower cheese (it was all a bit cheesetastic but delish!)

Two nights off walking on the trot, so definitely out tomorrow night...only 4th night off since 1st Jan, so must keep it up. Enjoying being a sloth tonight though...feet up, blanky on, love it!

OP posts:
roland83 · 15/01/2015 20:29

Hahaha, I soon will also have my feet up and (Superman) blanky on.. classy me haha.

Your food sounds yummy too! That's the kind of thing I eat too. I've been having a protein shake for some meals, just to help me along and also because I've just not felt like a proper meal really and felt like it all helps towards to main goal.

I decided not to exercise yet.. I do like squash and loads of sports, but I find it makes me hungry and at my weight I pick up injuries easily.. I'm looking at you, you stupid weak ankle!

Walking is great though, I find it a little boring, but I think I'll start trotting about the village when it gets a bit warmer and my hoodies aren't quite so tight.

Looks like it's chicken stir-fry tonight, my boyfriend is home later than usual so it's quicker! He's picked up some greek yoghurt and some blueberries from the supermarket too, bonus points to him! He is a slim size Medium but wants to tone up and has been doing weights and watching his food, which is great as he's also not eating crap, so things are all coming together it seems.

So glad you posted, it's so nice to generally chatter away about a diet, I think others find it very boring lol.

Macloveswill · 15/01/2015 20:56

Yes, I worry that I'm boring everyone to death about my weight too!! Lovely to have a place where we're all singing from the same hymn sheet so to speak.

Agree walking is very boring and if I was on my own I prob would not make it out as often as I do, but I do it with a friend so normally make ourselves go so as not to let the other one down.

Injuries are a real bind though aren't they. I have a chronic Achilles problem, which I wish would bore off now!

OP posts:
roland83 · 15/01/2015 22:34

It's because I run around like I'm still 12 stone, then wonder why my body breaks lol.

The thing is, I don't recognise the person I look like.. In my head I'm a size 12/14, sporty etc.. In reality I'm fat, frumpy and unhealthy!

It's amazing how people look right through you when you are fat, people are so much nicer to me when I'm a size 16 or below..

Can't wait to get there, so excited to see the change.

LuckyLopez · 16/01/2015 10:20

I lost 3lb. Hoped for more but I'll take that :) have a good day everyone!

Dowser · 16/01/2015 10:28

Going back to my cousin, on the day of his weigh in he would have a cheat day.

What did he head for.....bread! Lots of it after doing the Dukan diet for the best part of a week he was desperate for bread.

Then he would be straight back on plan the next morning which I admire him for .

A little tip that works for me is to buy myself something nice to wear and wear it often. A bit like Gok Wan when he takes an overweight woman in dowdy clothes and dresses her in something eye catching, pretty whatever the adjective is and immediately she is transformed and looks so much slimmer.
I know my cousin had great fun after wearing sweats and joggers for years to get into trousers jeans, nice shirts etc

When you lose half a stone get your hair or nails done if you don't already. After all you're not spending money on chocolate, cakes, fattening snacks etc.

I know this is all a bit basic but I see it as a way of loving yourself so treat and look after ourselves now, not in the future or when we've lost two stone but now.

I love this little rhyme

Yesterday is history
Tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift
Which is why it's called the present.

So, present yourself with a little love today ;-)

Mrsstevejones · 16/01/2015 14:02

Oh Dowser thats lovely. I have decided to do this. I have been trying to loose weight and get frustrated when i dont magically wake up a size 10 after one days dieting!

I lost 1st 7 lbs last year and am now starting again properly. When i reached a stone gone last year i had a pedicure and everytime i looked at my pink toes i smiled.

I sometimes feel like its not worth making an effort because i am so huge -you cant make a silk purse out of sows ear and all that. BUT its such negative thinking and isnt going to help.

I have booked an expensive haircut and colour to replace my boring long bob that i HATE. I loved having highlights but felt that now i was a mum i should spend my money on my family. My amazing DH pointed out that i was a part of the family and i deserved the money as much as anyone else and if it made me happy i was to go for it. I feel like i am getting out of my rut and hopefully the weight loss will follow.

Whilst i want to loose weight, what i really want is to be healthy and fit, size 10 jeans would just be a bonus (never been a size 10 in my life!)

I really believe low carbing is healthier and its easy the best diet i have ever done as i dont want to eat my arm as i am so hungry! Plus no IBS, thrush, bloated tummy or constant cravings.

So lets all promise to do something nice for us now and not put it off until some unspecified date/target/goal/weight.

Off to put on some lipstick and a nice top!

Macloveswill · 16/01/2015 18:11

Thanks so much Dowser and Mrs for sharing your stories with us. It really helps to see what works for others and also what each of us finds difficult.

I really feel this has to be the year I do this. I feel like I only live half a life when I'm big. I'm never completely confident and happy because of how I look, so although of course I have fun, I spend far longer than most of my friends worrying about what I can wear to events or nights out. Choice is so limited when you're a size 18-20, isn't it?!

I don't want to keep feeling like this. I want to be someone people admire and I want to prove those people who secretly think they're superior to me because of my weight wrong.

Sadly I know there are people in my life who actually prefer me to be bigger than them. So I'm also ready to say au revoir to anyone who gives me a whiff of not being genuinely pleased for me as I start to look healthier.

And if anyone says "when's it due?" Or "but you've got such a pretty face!" I may just punch them Smile

BRING IT ON. SLIM BY CHRISTMAS. WE CAN DO THIS!!!

That's from my all time favourite poem.

IamTitanium · 16/01/2015 18:30

Thanks Mac Grin
I tend to join in these threads and get a little lost...
I did it towards the end of last year lost just under 2 stone in probably as many months, then stalled and fell off the wagon.
I have only really started to cut down carbs today ready to be on it properly by Monday (I get bad carb flu so prefer to cut down rather than jump straight into it).
To scared to get on the scales at the moment, as Im sure I have probably put the whole lot back on Sad, stupid fucker I am!
I am trying to plan my meals for next week as find that is better for me in the first few weeks.
How are you getting on?

Macloveswill · 16/01/2015 18:48

Sounds like Monday will be time to bite the bullet for you then Titanium! Scales and LCing Wink Good luck!

It's going ok for me so far...I've never properly LC'd before, so it's an experience. I love how I'm not hungry! I'm a real sugar addict, so I think it's probably the best thing I can do to keep me away from the stuff and I was starting to think I must be at risk of diabetes.

12lbs off so far, which is only 10% of what I've got to lose, 122lbs...so the beginning of a long journey for me. Nice to have some company Grin
