Hi, I started on 1st Jan at 18st 10lbs and I have so much to lose, it would be lovely to share my journey with others who have over 6 stones to lose.

I know it's going to be a really long slog and I'll need help staying on the straight and narrow. I have to do it this year, no excuses!

So far I have lost 8.4lbs in first 11 days, but that seems tiny when I've got nearly nine stones to lose altogether. My goal is 10st.

Anyone out there? All buddies welcome Grin

It will be my second ever facial but the last one sorted out the remains of my awful acne, so i have high hopes.

So as this is my year, i have booked a haircut and colour, facial and have started to be more on top of grooming. Bought new clothes, binned my hideous slobbing around the house clothes -saggy grey joggers are not a look on anyone! Sat eve - i did a moisturising face pack and foot treatment after all urban angels are created not born - to steal a cheesy line!

Macloveswill · 27/01/2015 18:46

At this rate, you'll have to change your name to theglamorousmrsstevejones Wink

Good on you though, it's nice to feel pampered. I always have mani and pedi and my hair cut and coloured, but don't really bother with much else. You've got me thinking now, I might plan a bit of pampering myself!

OP posts:
Mrsstevejones · 27/01/2015 19:58

I think i might when i get there - great idea.

I used to be quite glam - relatively speaking! But then i had 2 wonderful children and had to live off of one salary so something had to give.

I never wear make up, and the nearest thing i have to a beauty regime is brushing my hair and putting on deodorant - i have seriously let myself go. I wear the same 7 tops with the same 3 pairs of identical jeans.

I shop in the sales section of tesco clothes and charity shops.

I feel sorry for my hubby, i am not the woman he married, luckily he loves me, whatever.

But this is the year that it all changes!! I dug out all my nice bath stuff that i had been saving for "best". I organised all my make up and got out my everyday jewellery. I went through my wardrobe and chucked out anything i didnt actually like and things i dont wear.

I am trying to get up half an hour early so i have time to get ready for the day. It weird i have found i get so much more done when i dont spent half the morning floating about in my dressing gown.

Now my DS doesnt chuck half of every feed backup on me i can wear my nicer clothes. This diet has really given me the impetuous to make the changes and now my DS is nearly 1 i am getting out of my baby bubble.

Today was good food wise
B- BPC and green smoothie
L- pepperoni and cheese
D- pork chops marinated in harrisa fried kale, tomato and shallots
and galloons of water

How is everyone else doing today? Sloshing with water whilst shrinking away?

flameprincess · 27/01/2015 21:53

Feel like I'm on an emotional rollercoaster with this diet. Been absolutely fine all day really then got a cracking headache this evening which simultaneously put me on a downer. I tried on a pair of tracksuit bottoms that I brought last time I went on a weightloss mission and joined a gym (years ago this!) and couldn't even get them up. Just greater hit home to me how stupid I have been and that I've got myself to a worse starting point than ever before, that even my fat gym clothes don't fit.
Don't even know why I tried them I think I was just on a downer and spurring myself on.

MrsSJ Sounds like you're really coming out the other side :)

Mrsstevejones · 28/01/2015 07:50

Sending you hugs Flame, Its gutting when something like that happens but atleast that wont be the case for much longer.

Try more water and painkillers for the headache and sometimes a stock cube in hot water can get salt levels back in balance and help (maybe?)

I have a fab pair of ripped jeans that i am desperate to get into but i darent try them on yet as i know they wont fit and it will just make me sad. But if i dont get a wiggle on the trend will be well and truly over!

Sending you lots of positive wishes and good vibes for the week. Its your weigh in day tom - cant wait to hear how you got on this week.

flameprincess · 28/01/2015 11:22

I'm on a train for a work trip today and I've normally brought myself a frothy coffee & a croissant for the trip by now, so I'm sat here with my bottle of water already a fiver up today! Just concentrating on the positives today, I might be fatter than ever before but it's coming down slowly but surely. My trousers are way more comfy and my jumper nice and baggy like when I originally purchased it. Start of Jan my spare tyre was being choked by these trousers.
How is everyone today?

flameprincess · 28/01/2015 11:24

Also just realised I said TODAY way too many times there. I'm living in the moment!

Good for you flame thats fiver you can put towards your new wardrobe fund. I love it when you put on something that didnt quite sit right and then it does - make sure you wear them loads as before you know it they will be way too big on you.

I tried my ripped jeans on and whilst i could just about do them up (if i breathed in for all my might!) they were so tight it was indecent and if i had sat down i am sure a seam would have gone- sigh.

But in good news i finally did it -i went swimming yay. I only swam for about 25 mins but its a start right?

Just been food shopping so i can batch cook and have a few bits on hand.

Just about to have a green smoothie to see me through until tea - swimming has made me starving and i just made the kids hummous sarnies and they looked so good.

flameprincess · 28/01/2015 14:32

Congrats on the swimming! 25mins is fab and at least you went and did it. I was watching that Horizon 'best diet for you' on iplayer last night and it did say how the brain panics after exercise and makes you think you need food so you do get more hungry, probably what's happened to you.
I never used to eat breakfast, but now I've started walking more, even though I've eaten it I feel absolutely ravenous by 10:30.

Macloveswill · 28/01/2015 17:03

Hey everyone....sounds like you've all been hard at it! Well done Flame for getting through your low day yesterday and just carrying on. That's how we're going to crack this thing, just keeping going however bad it gets. Lovely when clothes suddenly fit again and saving money is a nice bonus as a reward for all your hard work.

25 minutes swimming for your first timein a while is brilliant Mrs! Congrats on summoning the energy. I didn't walk last night, but hoping to tonight. Plus I really should get back to the pool.

I was really pleased with myself last night as my DD had a friend over and I did them a little tea party...all the things I usually love (inc cupcakes and melted choc with fruit to dip in!) and I normally eat all the leftovers, but I didn't touch a thing. So incorporating into my normal life is getting easier. I've just decided it's not worth the backwards step it would inevitably be.

I've just tried cauliflower rice for the first time fried in butter and olive oil with bolognese....it was delish! Definitely going on the favourites list. I really need to overhaul my recipes to make my food a bit more interesting. Any favourites very welcome Smile

Can't believe January is nearly over, it's the longest I've stuck at any diet for at least 3 years. This thread is really helping me stay focused, thanks guys!

You're right mac it's gone fast! This has helped me no end too, just having somewhere to come and moan where others understand. I haven't told anyone other than DP that I am dieting as I don't want to feel under pressure.
Being out of the office wasn't as tough as I thought. I normally snack at the train station vendors but today I just thought no tasty snack is going to make me as happy as getting into some lovely clothes.

Cauliflower rice sounds yum I haven't tried it yet but I love cauli.

One weird side effect of this diet: I'm getting BO Confused TMI I know but I'm having to shower every night (used to every other night) and use roll on before bed and then in the morning to keep it at bay! It's not so bad that others would smell it (eek) but I've noticed myself that when I get changed at night I smell different. Weird?

flameprincess · 28/01/2015 20:17

Oh and I would probably have caved at the cupcakes, you have done amazing! Grin

Macloveswill · 28/01/2015 21:19

Thanks Flame....yes cupcakes are normally pretty irresistible!

The cauliflower rice was really easy...just grated cauli with the cheese grater and then fried in plenty of butter and olive oil. I think Mrs tried it with spices and said it was nice, so might try adding some cumin etc when I make a chicken curry on fri night.

I've not noticed any change in body odour as yet....I imagine it could be just your body's way of releasing toxins. You may find you go back to normal within a few weeks (I read somewhere that it takes a few weeks...up to 6, for your body to get used to burning fat stores rather than getting all its energy from carbs...so might be that adjustment that's thrown you out of whack temporarily?) However in the spirit of TMI, I seem to be constipated most of the time, despite upping water intake.Confused

It will all be worth it I promise! I'm chanting it now....Slim by Christmas, Slim by Christmas, Slim by Christmas Grin

well done for resisting temptation.

I love love love cauli rice - never really ate cauli before. I grate mine in the food processor then put it in a dish and cover and microwave for 6 mins. Cauli egg fried rice is amazing.

I havent told anyone i am dieting esp not low carb, high fat as everyone has so many opinions and i cant be bothered defending my choices.

I prob ate too much bacon today but was lovely and full.

B- BPC and streaky bacon with mayo
L- Green smoothie
S- knob of cheese
D- cheese, bacon, chicken salad with oily dressing and mayo and cheese coleslaw and cucumber

I feel lighter, i have a bounce in my step and i generally just feel good. Cangt believe this month is nearly over.

Macloveswill · 28/01/2015 22:51

Ooh loving you for eating too much bacon Mrs, but surely with its utter deliciousness and total LC properties that's not possible? Grin

I too hate defending the LCing to people, so tend not to mention it. Why does every idiot who's never had a real weight problem think they know EVERYTHING about it?! In RL I don't say much about it, but in my head I say this "Yes I'm sure that half stone you have to lose comes off great with the 5:2 diet or weight watchers. But you are not a f sugar addict who's already tried every 'diet' out there and carrying an extra Kiera knightley on each thigh are you, so shut the f* up!"

And I HAVE to try cauli rice your way....egg fried yum! Mrs you are so inventive with food, I need to be braver!

Oh and I still need a número deux Smile

Macloveswill · 29/01/2015 07:31

Yay! Good news. The scales are definitely moving again, I've lost a couple of pounds in last couple of days, now 16.1lbs off!

Still 7 stones 8.6 lbs to go though ....agghh!

Have a good day everyone!

OP posts:
Mrsstevejones · 29/01/2015 08:09

Wow thats brilliant. I find the weight comes off in chunks nothing for a few days then a little drop, thats why i try not to weigh too often - doesnt work often mind!!

I am off out today with the kids and a friend, so need to avoid the coffee and cake trap. I will take a nice chicken salad for lunch with loads of cheese to stop me feeling deprived. I might take a little pot of cream to put in my coffee, if i dont feel hungry i am hoping i wont feel as tempted.

I would have usually given up by now on any other diet, LC really suits me and i feed the whole family so not having to cook separate foods makes it easier and hubby is losing weight - which he is pleased with. Kids are having a side of frz mash, microwave rice and fruit -as they need their carbs but i am relying less on cheap bread and cereals which can only be a good thing. They love cauli rice and swede mash.

Hope everyone has a good day today.

Macloveswill · 29/01/2015 08:29

Yes there definitely doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason with the weight loss, our bodies just decide when it suits them it seems.

Have a lovely day out and well done for planning ahead so you won't feel deprived. Cheese and cream all the way! And you'll save money by not paying the sometimes extortionate cafe prices Grin

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

I now weigh less than my husband! Woo-hoo!! (Albeit only by 0.4lbs)

That is all Smile

OP posts:
Mrsstevejones · 29/01/2015 15:11

Well done you, its a big milestone. You must be so pleased.

At one point i was heavier by half a stone than my hubby and he is 6ft tall and i am 5ft 5. Thanks to bootcamp last year i was 1.5st lighter. He started the diet as well and has narrowed the gap so now i am only a stone lighter - but lighter is lighter.

I was good today, i ate my salad and bought a coffee and put cream in it (i brought my own) so didnt feel as if i was missing out.

kids are knackered now so catching up with MN

Macloveswill · 29/01/2015 18:14

Thanks Mrs...and well done on sticking to your food agenda on your day out. And hopefully the kids will sleep tonight!

Oh and same here, hubs is 6ft tall. I'm 5'7" and really should never be heavier than him! Of course he's losing weight too, so the competitive part of us both will be interesting...no way am I giving up my lead now Wink

Decided to try the cauliflower rice tonight with some spices and a chicken coconut curry, it was really lovely. Bonus is yesterday's cauli rice seemed to help my constipation problem Smile ahem!

OP posts:
flameprincess · 29/01/2015 18:24

I've just laughed outloud at the Keira Knightly on each thigh and cured constipation Grin

I've got a work meeting next week at blinking Harvester.... Been scrutinising the menu in advance trying to find something low carb that won't draw attention to my 'diet'. The things we do to prepare!
I am not missing the sugar & junk cravings, isn't it strange how before the more we used to eat the more we wanted to overeat?
I'm making a few Hairy Dieters recipes at the weekend, got the ingredients for the burgers and the kebabs but having mine minus the pitta - DP is excited!

Macloveswill · 29/01/2015 19:07

Grin...we have to laugh!

Harvesters are pretty good for their free salad bowls, so fill up on that and just order chicken or steak to go with it.

I've heard the hairy dieter's book is good. They certainly look much slimmer on it, don't they! That'll be us in a few months time! Enjoy experimenting x

Must have a look at that cookbook, i love reading cookbooks - i recently had a cull of the ones i have never actually cooked anything out of, there were quite a few. I am currently compiling a list of my own fav recipes in a little binder not that i am food obsessed or anything!!

Harvester - chicken quarter (?breast) with garlic butter and a bowl of salad, no pasta, potato salad or bread roll -perhaps take your own mayo. Or my personal fave bbq chicken melt no bbq sauce or a tiny smidge on side - i could eat that now, yum.

Mac glad you are feeling lighter now! The coconut chicken curry sounds nice do you have a recipe?
