Hi, I started on 1st Jan at 18st 10lbs and I have so much to lose, it would be lovely to share my journey with others who have over 6 stones to lose.

I know it's going to be a really long slog and I'll need help staying on the straight and narrow. I have to do it this year, no excuses!

So far I have lost 8.4lbs in first 11 days, but that seems tiny when I've got nearly nine stones to lose altogether. My goal is 10st.

Anyone out there? All buddies welcome Grin

I was worried about diabetes, i had gestational diabetes in my last pregnancy. Full blown diabetes is evil.

Tummy def feels tighter and hunger cravings are diminishing. I am not fully low carb yet but i am working my way there to start bootcamp on monday. I am trying to get organised and meal plan. Will do a big shop this weekend.

I have had half an attempt at loads of things since new year but i know BIWIs low carb boot camp actually works, so giving this my all. Its my birthday in a couple of months and i have a charity shop bargain as my inspiration dress.

I didnt start my 30 day shred today as i originally planned. I have visitors this weekend so plan is to start monday. Is everyone else exercising or just focusing on nutrition as a start?

Good luck everyone

Welcome Titanium!

I'm just doing food for now, I'll add exercise later.. I'm already reasonably fit, for my size, so I'm not too concerned about that side of things.

I can't totally relate to nearly everything everyone else says, just aren't alone! And I really hope by next Christmas we can be much happier with ourselves.

Mac, I totally know what you mean by not everyone wanting you to lose weight.. It's the same for me... Not even sure if my partner will like it to be honest, he can be quite insecure and I think it'll be interesting to see how he handles my changing body. Like you though, anyone who isn't happy for me will be cut loose, I've no time for jealous people.

No more weight loss for me yet, I check every day so maybe tomorrow Grin

roland83 · 16/01/2015 21:23

Oh, yes, I'm worried about diabetes too! I already felt that my blood sugar was all over the place.

Not had children yet and worried about being unable to conceive, and/or having problems when pregnant and giving birth... I'm 32 this year, so it's something I need to sort out now.

roland83 · 16/01/2015 21:24

Flaming iPad is so bad to write on, hope you get the gist of what I meant lol

roland83 · 17/01/2015 11:06

Weigh in today for me, lost 1.2lbs since last Saturday.. but.. I've not been to the toilet in about 2 days, so I'm thinking maybe it'll be more, I'll just keep logging and see what happens!

Going to monitor my food quality, just to make sure I've not had too many carbs, but generally going to carry on as I am, I'm sure it'll work.

IamTitanium · 17/01/2015 14:29

thanks roland, and well done for weight loss.

I decided last night to get on it properly today!

B- Greek yoghurt and 2 strawberries cut up and mixed in
L- Salad and smoked mackerel
D- still to decide
W- not drunk anywhere near enough, but the day is still young.

Still need to weigh...

roland83 · 17/01/2015 19:50

I struggle with drinking enough too, but just have sugar free cordial, seems to go down easier that way lol.

Been out most of the day, so I had poached eggs on a small 1/2 size loaf for breakfast, and a protein bar this afternoon.

Beef brisket for dinner with salad.

Good luck everyone!

Mrsstevejones · 17/01/2015 22:40

Well i have blown it today.....Started off well, BPC and soup, no bread for lunch. Had a later dinner and it was a chinese!

We have visitors at the mo and thought that chinese would be easier than cooking. I was going to have something vaguely lowerish carb and make cauli rice to go with but in the end i didnt. Had egg fried rice, beef with green peppers and a sweet and sour chicken ball -sigh. Oh well tomorrow is another day. Hope everyone else is weathering the weekend better!

Macloveswill · 18/01/2015 13:07

Well done on the weight loss roland!!

Titanium it sounds like you're getting on with it....good luck!

Mrs...Don't worry about the odd fall off the wagon. It happens to us all at some point.

I'm really worried about maintaining my resolve throughout a very busy couple of months socially. I have birthday nights out and Valentine's, and girly nights coming out of my ears and then in March we go on holiday! That's when I normally fall off the wagon, nights out and holidays, so will need every ounce of willpower and there's still bound to be some slips.

I had a lovely surprise on the scales this morning though.....1 stone off!!! But the first night out is in 5 days time, so please help me stay focused!

Have a great week everyone.....lovely quote I spotted earlier..

"I'm not telling you it's going to be easy, I'm telling you it's going to be worth it!" (Unknown)

Thanks Mac i am back on it today. I find social things so hard and i nearly always fall off, so best of luck but at least a nice holiday should keep you focussed - hang your bikini on the fridge, that should help! Well done on your first stone!

Macloveswill · 18/01/2015 13:50

Thanks Mrs. Haha...loving the bikini on the fridge idea!!

Bootcamp starts tomorrow so had a low carb day today to try and undo all the chinese last night!

Breakfast was a green smoothie, lunch was thai soup with coconut cream and dinner was roast pork with cracking, steamed broccoli, cauli mash and brussels sprouts with a smidge of gravy.

I dont own scales as i am a daily weigher (several times!) and it makes me demented so i will pop to the gym and get my starting weight, i then intend to weigh monthly or atleast leave it as long as i can last.

I think i am around 14st 7lbs hopefully no more than that. My size 18s are snug and by my birthday in March i hope to be in my 16s, 14s would be amazing but it depends on if i can pull my finger out exercise wise. I will give my body a few weeks to adjust and then will dust off my shred and yoga meltdown dvds.

Good luck everyone, how did you get on this weekend?

roland83 · 18/01/2015 21:24

Wow, 1 stone! Well done Mac!

Don't worry Mrs, think of it as a metabolism kick starter lol.. Grin I'm sure if you get back into it then 1 day won't matter in the grand scheme of thing. Your thai soup sounds lovely!

I weigh daily, but I don't think if affects me too badly, I like to track it on an app and look at the graphs lol.

I'm a size 22 in reality, although a lot of my stuff is a 20 still, but snug! By my holiday at the end of June I would love to be in a 16/18, still feel like that's not possible! Lack of confidence in it working out I guess.

Weekend went well, went on a shopping trip too! Just got a protein bar from H&B to tide me over, so went okay for me (for now!) haha.

Macloveswill · 19/01/2015 10:27

Mrs...your food sounds delish!

Roland...I reckon you can def be a 16/18 by your holiday, just keep on keeping on and you'll do it, I'm sure!

I'm a daily weigher too, I know everyone advises against it, but it seems to help me stay focused.

My last quiet weekend for a while, so it was relatively easy to stay good. This Friday, after copious vodka tonics, maybe not so easy Smile

Today, after sausage and scrambly eggs for brekkie, I'm making some nice chicken soup to keep me going until dinner.

Scales derail me -either i am disappointed with my weight loss so i might as well eat cake as its not working or i am really pleased and doing well so i deserve cake for doing so well!!

I have never managed more than a few weeks at not weighing but scales broke and i will have to pay a quid a pop at the gym to weigh so that should keep me off them as i am tight!

On a low carb diet i have found that the weight comes off in chunks and is pretty common after the first couple of weeks to have a big stall and then suddenly seemingly overnight i loose 2-3 pounds.

I read that the fat cells store water to hold their shape as the fat is leaving them and then when you keep on, eventually they also shed the water hence a big drop in weight. Sounds probable but no idea if its factually correct!

Macloveswill · 19/01/2015 14:04

Mrs I love the idea of the fat leaving our cells.....Gross but fascinating at the same time. I agree with the losing in chunks...I'm often the same for a few days, then will suddenly have a drop and wonder what the hell happened!

I also love that I'm not getting hunger pangs...that's what often details me on other diets. I'm starving so somehow I justify a super binge and then struggle to clamber back on the wagon and give up.

I am so utterly determined to make it work this time around. I hate being the big one in my group of friends....it's definitely time for a shake up Grin some people have never actually seen me slim...they won't believe their eyes!

OP posts:
Mrsstevejones · 19/01/2015 14:49

Hunger pains finish off diets for me too, thats the beauty of low carb and if i HAVE to miss a meal its not the end of the world.

Whilst i lost weight for my wedding - i got to 12.5 st, i now have friends that have never seen me thin and i was hot (and young and blonde). I am the biggest one out of my friends and it sucks. We all had babies at the same time and they were all back in their size 10s whilst i was in my maternity jeans for a loonnngg time after. Then never lost the weight between DD and DS.

What i really want is at xmas to buy an amazing xmas dress - something that i really like as opposed to something that fits and covers my problem areas well. I used to love clothes shopping but hate it now. The sad truth is, clothes look better on a slimmer frame. Although i have met some truly well dressed and sexy women who are plus sized unfortunately i am not one of them!

I was a size 14 for a long time and i have an amazing wardrobe of clothes up the attic, i do fear they have been up there so long they will be well out of fashion by the time i dig them out however!
Would love to be a 14 by summer then i can wear my nice dresses rather than sweat it out in jeans -again.

I havent weighed myself yet but i did take my measurements and it wasnt good.

IamTitanium · 19/01/2015 17:18

Mac well done for your weight loss!
Its been a very low carb day today, I have only just eaten (crazy busy at work), just had a few spoonfuls of cauli cheese to tide me over until dinner.
Tonight we are having slow cooked beef, something with celeriac gratin/dauphinoise not completely decided, roasted cabbage, swede and mangetout.
Are any of you on bootcamp?

Macloveswill · 19/01/2015 17:23

Mrs you've sparked misty, distant memories of a time long ago when I was young and hot too....What on earth happened?! Shock

You're right, most clothes do look better on a slimmer frame. I too have wardrobes full of my smaller clothes (in every size from a 10 to a 22...just call me yo-yo Grin) I'm dying to dig them all out as I start to go down the sizes....it'll feel like having a whole new wardrobe!

I'm up for shopping for a killer dress at Christmas though!!

I'd not thought of measuring - I might give it a go, just to help monitor progress. Only about 20" to lose off my waist..haha!

OP posts:
Macloveswill · 19/01/2015 17:26

Thanks Titanium. That food is making my mouth water! Not on boot camp, I must pop across!

OP posts:
Mrsstevejones · 19/01/2015 18:39

I`m on bootcamp, i found it so helpful back in the summer. Loads of great recipe ideas too.

Roasted cabbage sounds nice.... got a recipe? Please.

We have just had a bacon and chicken casserole with cream in, swede mash with loads of butter and pepper and, broccoli coated in you guessed it... more butter - yummy. Was a bit (very) salty so just having a litre of water.

I have 12s to 20s, i think i threw out my 10s when i hit 30 and realised that ship had sailed! Funny thing though i dont mind buying clothes in a smaller size but really begrudge buying the next size up!

This time i will not be keeping my fat clothes so at least if i cheat and put on weight i will have to stay home and exercise until it comes off or go out in my jim jams.

I worked out i had put on 10 inches on my waist in the last 10 yrs. Going to dig out my callanetics dvd that was always fab for tightening things up and quickly.

Hey NotYouAgainLorna! Welcome to the thread Grin I've not done the 30 day shred, so I can't help, although I would recommend walking, it keeps you in the fat burning zone and not too much in the cardio zone. I love playing squash but it's mostly in the cardio zone according to my heart rate monitor, whereas walking is perfect for fat loss!

Glad everyone is still here and doing well !

I've got a chicken in the oven, just need to make some salad now.

My diet is going okay, I'm worried I'm not being strict enough as I've not lost for a little while now, but the idea that a few pounds will drop off me at any time is giving me hope! The first little bit came off quick, as expected, and now I seem to have stuck a little. My carbs aren't stupidly low, so I'm worried I'm not restricting myself enough, but then I look at what I eat now and the fact that I'm not starving and craving all the time and I think I'm sure it'll be ok.

Are you all very strict on your carbs?

Here's to a successful week to us all!

Current Stats: 6.5lbs lost in 16 days. (I want MORE dammit) Blush

Mrsstevejones · 19/01/2015 19:36

Roland, 6 pounds in just over two weeks is great and if you havent lost in a few days then you are due a whoosh at any time. Around my TOM i always stick at a weight and then afterwards i get a nice little loss. Thats why i cant weigh myself i drive myself mad!
A week or so stall at around the 2-3 week mark is totally normal and this is what i would expect.

I have no idea what my carbs are i only eat things below 3g per 100g. I do try to limit my dairy (except butter) as it stalls some people. I follow strict bootcamp and it works for me.

I love 30 day shred and i will start again when i am keto adapted. Walking is fab but i am a chicken and waiting for the weather to warm up.

roland83 · 19/01/2015 20:44

I added a bit more dairy last week, maybe that isn't helping, but you are quite right, I just need to be more patient.. lol.. not easy when you want to wake up slimmer Grin

I'll have a look at the bootcamp!

I sometimes prefer to walk in the dark and rain, it keeps me cooler and I don't come across as many people lol.
