Just checking in. I have been doing really well today, resisted all sorts of temptation in the form of mini battenburgs and cumberland sausages which would normally just have been wolfed down. I am really looking forward to not being overweight any more. I am under 12 stone now half a stone down.

RGPargy · 04/02/2012 20:26

Just bookmarking! Grin

GeekLove · 04/02/2012 20:34

I'm going to do some weights tonight. Now I have said it on here I MUST do them!

bucketbetty · 04/02/2012 20:58

I've had to stay home because of the weather. I've just wolfed down a bit handful of biscuits and some peanuts. I feel like a right pig. I walked to the wine shop in the blizzard and had a few sips but its not going down well. An early night for me tonight. I'm off to London tomorrow so won't get time to exercise. I'll try harder next week.

RGPargy · 04/02/2012 22:22

I think i have tonsilitis coming :( Either that or my glands are up and spotty because they're fighting off a cold?!

Have booked into two classes at the gym tomorrow, despite feeling a bit ropey (i'm really stupid 'ardcore) but now it's started to snow and i am hoping that i will not be snowed in. Bloody white stuff gets on my nerves in this country because it just makes the whole transport network, from private cars to trains etc, completely shut down. GGRR!!! Really need to get some exercise in tho as i haven't done anything since Wednesday as Thurs and Fri i work and dont get home til late and today it was my turn to take DD to ballet (rather than getting to the pump class). Hmm

RGPargy · 04/02/2012 22:23

Also, i am REALLY craving bread or bagels or anything BREADDY!!!!

GeekLove · 04/02/2012 22:31

It's not just me who is into carbs since the weather's gone cold?

RGPargy · 05/02/2012 00:14

No way!! I'm feeling so rubbish at the mo, DP is attempting to make a clove tea to ease my throat Hmm and i am very VERY tempted to give in and have that toasted cinnamon bagel with jam...... Confused

jchocchip · 05/02/2012 08:05

Well done Queen just in time! I mn on my phone and couldn't work out how to do it! I've eaten way too much bread this week, have a new breadmaker and it is irrisistable... Glad I ran yesterday before the snow, today is a rest day. I will go and see if any of the swimming pool staff made it to work soon.

bexsybooboo · 05/02/2012 11:31

Just bookmarking so don't lose new thread Smile

Am feeling very lazy though, have gone from exercising 5/6 nights per week to only 2/3 and that's just running Sad. Not sure why it's managed to decrease honestly just think I am slowly becoming lazy again. Has been going on about 2-3 weeks now.

Going to have to give myself a good talking to as don't want to start slipping. Hopefully when the new gym opens and I can start using my membership it will change. Am planning on road running 3 times per week but hoping to use gym and swmming pool in between days Smile

Oooops so much for just bookmarking Grin

Thanx Queen for new thread, I would have kept returning to old thread thinking you had all desserted me lol Wink

trice · 05/02/2012 18:12

I wanted to run today but the snow is all wet and slippery. I didn't fancy running in wellies. I wish I has gone now as I feel bad missing a day. I'm trying to convince myself that dragging dd around in a sledge and building three snowmen counts as exercise.
Hope the clove tea fends off the cold rg.

bucketbetty · 05/02/2012 21:18

I'm having a glass of wine but I have walked miles in the snow today at s fast pace. Bloody Victoria line wasn't running so I had to walk to Harley street from euston. Not too far but slippy and even though I put my uggs on my feet were still soaked. My ankles were hurting do I think it was a pretty good walk. I'm considering cycling to work tomorrow if the snow had melted. I'm running Tue and wed weather permitting.

BadBuddha · 05/02/2012 23:28

Thanks Queen for starting and linking to the new thread - just found you..
Just dropping in to say hi (and run away again as have been AWFUL this last week). Am really struggling to find the time to do any exercise and/or log anything on mfp. Ah well, tomorrow's another weigh in day....
Keep up the good work everyone

yawningmonster · 06/02/2012 08:08

Hi, I think I may have posted on one of the other threads but they move too fast for me especially with the time lag. I do however have a couple of probably very silly questions if you kind people can bear with me (or should that be bare? not sure on that)
If say I have a start of 1200 calories and I gain some more through excercise, do I actually then need to eat those extra calories, is there a disadvantage to still only eating 1200?

Also I know that water helps etc, etc but does it actually show up in terms of results for mfp, it if I consistently drink the water required will I see better results?
Lastly if I am not really seeing any results what should I tweek? I am burning app 200 cal a day (I broke my sternum in August and still have a bit of gripe with pain especially with things like running etc and also with stamina so I am building back up slowly) As I said 1200 base allowance with most days being allowed 1400. I am mostly keeping within my carb allowance just. I am also way, way down on my iron intake so will look at supplimenting...will this make a difference?

Thank you for any help?
Oh lastly does it matter that the only time I have managed to most of my excercise at night? I am able to go for walks on school days with dd in stroller, but yoga/ aerobics etc I have only managed to get time at night...dd will join in a bit of dancing but then soon wants me to do other stuff. I know night is not ideal but better than nothing?

bexsybooboo · 06/02/2012 20:58

Hi yawning I can only let you know what I do concerning the points you asked so hope it help Smile.

Exercise Calories I am also on 1200 cals plus exercise calories. I tend to eat only some of these exercise cals. I try to leave approx 150-200 in the green each time. That is based on an average calorie burn of 350-450. This allows me approx 1400 cals to eat each day.

Water I am drinking water first thing in the morning approx 2 glasses then the rest throughout day but average wate rintake for me is 5-6 glasses per day. I have to say I feel it helps me and I do notice when I decrease my water intake.

Good luck and am sure you will get some more feedback soon by the others Smile

Hi everyone Smile

I have just joined myfitnesspal to try and shift some baby weight. I have also just ordered 30 day shred so shall see how I get on with that... Hmm

jchocchip · 07/02/2012 18:13

Hi Polkadot. What's your name on mfp? we can friend you. Mine is the same as mn name. Well done on making a start.

PolkaDottedShoes · 07/02/2012 20:09

Thanks, it's littlepennylane Smile I am finding it hard already and really want some nutty chocolate... I think this is going to be pretty tough!!

jchocchip · 07/02/2012 20:44

Hey don't be too hard on yourself at first, just get into the routine of logging everything. You can then see where the calories are going and try to make small changes. How much exercise can you fit in? Even walking burns calories and you can earn a few extra for an occasional treat.

RGPargy · 07/02/2012 20:59

Hi everyone :)

Had a good loss this week (although was hoping for better!) of 4.4lbs. I thought i was on track for 6 or 7lbs but hey ho, it's still a good loss!

Did balance tonight for the first time without my knee giving me jip (my own fault, i dont rest it when it plays up) and i can honestly say i really felt how tough balance can be! My legs are aching!!

Hello and welcome to the newbies! Please feel free to add me - same name as here. It's tough to get into the routine of logging at first but it's deffo worth persevering with it because it really does open your eyes to all the bad calories that are in certain foods etc.

I am very grateful that i'm not on 1200 cals a day! I'm on 1470 and on my hungry days i find it a struggle to keep under. As for exercise cals, i dont tend to eat mine if i can help it but i know they are there to act as a slight buffer if i need it. I normally only go over by a maximum of 100 cals, especially since i've not had any vino for over a week now! :o (:()

magicalrealistmum · 08/02/2012 07:19

Hi all

bookmarking the new threadSmile
I am finding it tough to be motivated in this cold weather. I am off the bike with a bad back and icy roads for a few days, but I am going to walk into work today instead- so I will wrap up warm and see how it goes.
I have also slipped back on additional exercise, but I am going to use Feb to spur me on again and gradually find time for one swim a week, one run and build from there. We have a very cheap gym close to work which I could also use, I just have to establish some more helpful habitsBlush

I am not losing at the moment, just hovering +/- 1-2lb. I am afraid all the bread and carbs may lead to gain soon so I am off bread and back on the ryvita

Lets think of spring and summer- its just round the corner

best wishes everyone- lets do it!

bucketbetty · 08/02/2012 13:25

I'm really losing the will at the moment. I had a major binge yesterday - well, I have lots of chocolate and 2 handfuls of nuts. I came on my p, and felt an overwhelming urge to eat chocolate. But, I'm also not losing any weight so I think I'm on the edge of giving up again. I'm very conscious of it, so I think I'll stick with things, it's just so disheartening not to be losing weight. I do have to exercise, I know this and I just haven't exercised as much as I should. The bad weather hasn't helped. Oh well, onwards and upwards and hopefully I won't put on too much weight. 4 weeks and just 2 pound loss (I'd put on a pound yesterday). I could bloody cry. Sad

QueenStromba · 08/02/2012 13:39

Have you tried low carbing bucketbetty? You wouldn't have to feel guilty about the nuts at all and a few squares of 85-90% chocolate is fine which is all you need really - I'd actually be impressed if you could eat a whole bar of lindt 90% in a sitting. Once you get through the carb withdrawal it's the easiest diet in the world to stick to because you just don't want the things you aren't allowed anymore but are allowed things like cheese, cream and bacon.

Hi there, wondered if I could join you all too please. On day 3 of 1200 kcals a day. Going pretty well, been out and done a 50min run today. Managed to lose 17lbs last year with mfp getting down to my lowest weight of 9st 5lbs, I weighed in on monday at 10st 4lbs so nearly a stone on since last August. Feel pretty cross with myself but ho hum here I go again. I would love love to be 9st and at 5ft 2in feel this would be about right. :)
