New thread since the old one is full :)

OP posts:
jchocchip · 11/02/2012 06:10

I thought the protein was a minimum goal to aim for...

yawningmonster · 11/02/2012 06:29

Great thanks for that jchocchip

jchocchip · 11/02/2012 15:04

I've changed my sugar goal to the max recommended by the govt. The mfp one is so very low as to be meaningless as I exceeded it by having fruit with my breakfast.

bishboschone · 11/02/2012 16:12

Hello all, have you all lost weight eating 1200 calories ?

ancientgeordiegirl · 11/02/2012 17:58

Hi I have been lurking on this thread - would like advise as to being in "maintenance". I lost 21lbs on mfp and reached target last week. I did that on 1240 cals a day - mfp gave me a much more generous cal intake of 1880 for maintenance but in 1 week I have gained 2lbs! I have now manually reduced my goal to 1640 but that feels low for a lifetime calorie intake. Any words of wisdom gratefully received - I am djp1971 on mfp. Many thanks

jchocchip · 11/02/2012 18:07

Maybe build up gradually to the 1880 and give your body time to adjust. Well done on your loss! How tall are you and do you do any exercise? I love that mfp expects you to eat more when you work out!

yawningmonster · 11/02/2012 19:56

bisboschone I did a weigh in today and I have lost 1kg. I tend to fluctuate anyway so not really sure I believe it or not but that is on 1200 cal for one week. I start my flab to fab tomorrow and their scales will be much more accurate so it will be interesting to see what they say (dreading them saying that I am actually heavier than I first thought though. Ancient are you feeling full and energised on 1640. If you are I think I would tend to keep at that and see what happened in terms of weight. I think a gain when you first switch to maintenance is pretty standard and that it will even out again once your body gets used to the new level and your metobolism adjusts to maintaining.

bishboschone · 11/02/2012 20:00

Thanks yawning , gives me inspiration Smile

ancientgeordiegirl · 12/02/2012 00:47

Hi j andyawning - thanks for answering. I'm 5ft 9 and normally exercise by walking (am not a member of a gym so have just been taking 2 year old and dog for long 4 mile walks after school drop off since the beginning of Jan). This week we all stayed home sick so maybe it's that simple as whilst I did stay within my calorie count I didn't have any long walks. Maybe I should just try 1640 for a couple of weeks and see what happens - I really don't want to lose anymore but neither do I want to gain- re feeling full I tend to "use up" my spare calories on Wine so maybe I will have to swop that for Brew or water!

bexsybooboo · 13/02/2012 06:41

Hey guys just a quick book mark Smile

knitknack · 13/02/2012 07:05

Hello! Just peeking in... had a 'few' bad days too lol. Half term now now though and hoping to get back on track. Would live people to add me - I'm always so inspired by friends updates on mfp! (especially yours rgpargy!). I'm kn1tknack

I have a new job starting after Easter! Head of dept and rather than an hour's drive I'll be looking at about 4.5 minutes :-D so hoping to break out my bike in the spring :-)

I don't really know what weight I should be, and my body image has always been a bit skewed but I'm basically trying to not have a sticky out tummy... Ancientgeordiegirl I'd love you to add me - in 5'9.5" so it would be really interesting for me to see your profile!

Ok enough ramble - good luck all! Keep logging, I think that's the main thing, don't give up that habit....

yawningmonster · 13/02/2012 09:27

Well I started my flab to fab course and it was very interesting. They use a different calulator method than mfp which is being emailed through to me tonight along with personal nutrition goals. It doens't do calorie counting but does give you the number of servings from each food group each day so i may be allowed 4grains 3fat 4protein etc (made these up as I haven't actually got my allotment through yet) and it is very strict on serving sizes being a real key so measuring will become part of my life. The excercise part was a killer but I will def give it a go and am quite inspired by it all so here is hoping.

jchocchip · 13/02/2012 17:03

Hi ancient. If you are still logging, why not try logging your exercise and eating those calories too if you are hungry. At your goal weight, if you eat fairly healthy and keep active, your weight may well stabilise at its own level which may be a few lbs different either way to your goal.

Yawning that does sound quite interesting. How many times do they expect you to exercise?

jchocchip · 13/02/2012 17:11

Well done on your new job knitknack. I'm 5' 10 so a similar height. I was always quite happy at 16 stone when I was fit, but that is high bmi wise so I am aiming to go lower this time!

Wifezilla · 13/02/2012 19:41

Loads of great weight losses - well done :0)

yawningmonster - flab to fab sounds really interesting. Good luck with it, I will be interested to hear about how it goes.

yawningmonster · 13/02/2012 20:28

the excercise at the moment is 2-3 times a week with a mix of aerobic type excercises and muscle gaining excercises. I got my allotments through and I have
4 each of grains and veges, 3 each of fruit and dairy one of fat and one of protein. This alters if I log more excercise so similar to mfp in that respect and then when I reach my goals it also changes to a maintenance level. It looks quite in depth at the emotional and social reasons for over eating and positive problem solving to combat these issues.

ancientgeordiegirl · 13/02/2012 21:45

Hi knitknack and jchocchip - am still logging think that to stay at maintenance I will need to do it every day ! j how did you change your sugar max I need to do that as my fruit intake takes me over all the time? knit I'll send you a friend request my user name is djp1971.

mrswoodentop · 15/02/2012 15:19

Hi I've had a couple of bad weeks and nearly gave up but the thought of everyone here and on MFP is an incentive to come back.

Plus went dress shopping with a couple of friends last week and there was just so much more choice for them and I just thought this has got to stopSadI don't need to be tiny but a 12/14 would make so much difference

RGPargy · 15/02/2012 21:07

Hi everyone:)

Have had a bit of a bad week so far this week as i baked some cakes on Monday, then had friends round to lunch yesterday (which contained more cakes and sweet stuff that they brought round!) and now i'm just trying to get rid of the excess crap, i.e. the left over chocolate fudge and banana muffins.....

On the plus side, i have been really good with exercise this week and as it's half term and i have the week off (i work 2 days a week) i will be going tomorrow and friday too so have added two extra days to my work out schedule :o

bishboschone · 16/02/2012 09:47

Hi, I just thought I would tell you all that I have been using the app since Sunday and I have lost 3.5 pounds . I have been on weight watchers since 1st jan with limited success . I have 2 stone of baby weight to lose but I'm a size 12 so not massive and it is working really well . I'm so excited as I really want to kick the butt of this weight and I'll happily put the work in but get despondent if nothing happens ... Here's to getting back in my size 8 jeans .. Woohoo!!!!Smile

knitknack · 16/02/2012 19:52

Thanks jchocchipjchocchip and AGG (have accepted friend request!)... have a feeling i'm going to be back on MFP after this week - I have TOTALLY relaxed, in every way LOL, was needed though :) I have barely MOVED this week, save for a pilates class (and that was hardly strenuous!)...

Who else is excited about Spring coming though? I keep dreaming of walks that don't end with wind-whipped ears and being able to drag my bike out and dust it off!

Well done bishboschone - keep it up! :)

bishboschone · 16/02/2012 21:10

Thanks knit knack Smile

jchocchip · 16/02/2012 21:33

marking place. Not sure I'll lose this week, it's a bit different being back at work. More snacks, less time to exercise!

trice · 16/02/2012 22:05

I am finding half term tough. The dcs and their friends need to be fed seemingly constantly. I am holding back from the scales until Monday.
I took ds running with me on the c25k week 2 run. He said the music was so lame that he will have to mix me a new track to run to. Grin
Those cakes sound good rgpargy.

RGPargy · 16/02/2012 22:57

Oh Kn1tknack - well done on the new job!! :o I really wish i could travel 4.5 minutes to work lol. My current job takes me about 1.5 hours to get there. There is a law firm at the end of my road (i'm a legal secretary) and i am so tempted to drop my CV in to them. That would mean my walk to work would take me about 1.5 minutes lol. Thing is, the money would be crap and although i wouldn't have to pay £60 a week in train fare (for just TWO days!) i would still have to pay childcare so i dont think i would be better off! Oh well, i can dream..... Hmm

Have buggered my knee up slightly so i am not stepping tomorrow morning. I have decided to go for a swim instead but still use my HRM. I'm not a strong swimmer tho so i dont know how long i will stick it out for!

Bish - well done on the loss!
