Welcome newbies - feel free to add me on MFP (same name as here)....

Well, where will I start.... After saying how pleased I was with progress, and how easy I was finding the diet I've had a crap week

I've somehow hurt my hip, so can't exercise. For me this means no long walks with the pram, and no evening running. I'm therefore at home a bit more than normal, and just want to snack / eat. I'm also not earning exercise calories, so have even less calories to play with each day. I'm hoping the sore hip disappears as quickly as it appeared

I was over Wed, Thur and Fri. Made a real effort on Saturday to stay within cals, and then went over again on Sunday. Trying hard today, so far....

I'm still weighing every day twice a week and logging on Weds and Sun:
Last Sunday - 10st 13
Last Weds - 10st 11.5
Sunday (yesterday) - 10st 13
Today (!) - 10st 11.5

I suspect the daily twice weekly weighing isn't doing me any favours, but am unable to step away from the scales.

Need to keep focussed as have a holiday looming in September and want to look / feel thinner.... Aiming for under 10 stone for the end of August, although closer to 9st7 would be wonderful... The end of August is 12 weeks away, so if I could average 1.5lb per week I would lose 18lb and hit the magic 9st 7

The million dollar question, is how on earth do I keep motivated and not have any slip ups like last week (was over by nearly 1000 calories for the week).

Newbies, feel free to add me, same name as on here :)

I had a bad day yesterday, I felt so ill from the Rainbows sleepover because I got so cold that I craved so many carbs. I listened to my body and ate what I needed but probably did go over my cals I didn't log it but I had over 800 left on saturday so I figure it will even out :o

MonsterBookOfTysons · 11/06/2012 14:12

Haha one, two, three. Exact same time posting :o

OneTwoOrThree · 11/06/2012 14:19

Carpe - 1210 calories isn't a lot, you're right. However, I don't think it's wrong...

I'm 5ft2 (ish) and started at 11st 13 (now down to 10st 11.5) and am on 1200 calories. I changed the settings on MFP this morning from losing 2lb a week, to 1lb but it still didn't give me any more calories. If I changed it to lose 0.5lb per week then it gave me more, but I need to lose weight quicker to stay motivated!

I think 1200 is a MFP minimum...

PS - I don't have much advice on how to stick to 1200, as I get an extra 500 for exclusive bf and sometimes struggle to stick to 1700

All I can say it that it works... I have been on MFP for just over 8 weeks and have lost 15.5lbs

laurenamium · 11/06/2012 14:22

onetwoorthree I weigh twice daily Blush as they are just there! I have an app though to log it every morning, it's just for you so there's no pressure. And it tells you how much you have lost from the beginning as well as from that day last week. It's called Weight track if that's any use? I weigh daily on that and then update MFP weekly, or that's my plan!

MonsterBookOfTysons · 11/06/2012 14:26

I am on 1260 cals a day and weigh 10st 4lb. I started at 12st 1lb and I was on nearer to 1400 cals.
The way I cope is to exercise. The only way I will be able to eat something today now is to earn it with exercise as I only have 300 left before exercise which is not enough for dinner :o

RGPargy · 11/06/2012 16:24

Hi everyone :)

Great tips on low cal snacks. My current favourite is either a bag of fridge raiders or two Deli Sticks. The Fridge Raiders are about 130 cals and each Deli stick is about 66 ish. Having said that, i am on 1740 cals so can afford to be a bit more "expensive" with my treats.

I did the race for life on Sunday with my friend, although I didn't run a single step and just walked it. It was a bit harder than i thought it would be because it was trekking through a field which was pretty hilly too. It was ok tho and thankfully not too hot (and NO rain!!!!). Haven't managed to get any sponsors yet as I wasn't at work last week so couldn't send an email round badgering people for money (there's about 300 people in our office).

Oh crap - i've just remembered it's our firm's "summer" party on Thursday night. I do not have a thing to wear!! I'm not even sure i can be bothered to go. Erk. What to do. Hmm

cinnamongreyhound · 11/06/2012 16:49

Welcome CarpeJugulum, if you're struggling then decrease the weight loss goal per week (although reading what onetwoorthree wrote that might not help) or do some more exercise :) I'm on 1360 at 5'5" and 10st 4 (snap MonsterBookOfTysons!). Was on 1500ish when I started in Jan at 83Kg (13st) but tried to stay under that to increase weight loss anyway. I decrease portion sizes rather than cutting out treats!

Me too laurenamium! I lose 60g-1.5Kg overnight depending on how big my tea was and how much I've drunk. I find it quite interesting, watching the fluctuations. I only log losses on mfp and leave it as sts if I put on, I also write it in my diary every Thursday as that's when I started.

Go shopping RGPargy!!!!

MonsterBookOfTysons · 11/06/2012 16:52

Cinnamon, I am 5ft 6in how much are you meant to be losing a week? I am down for 1lb a week but on a lot less cals than you :o

aliciaflorrick · 11/06/2012 17:01

RG it's my DH's summer party on thursday - you don't work for a law firm near a famous maternity hospital in the big smoke do you?

CarpeJugulum · 11/06/2012 17:12

Hmm - that is on a 1lb a week regime as I want steady and permanent rather than fast and fluctuating! (but I have my lifestyle set as sedentary, and I suspect it may be more lightly active - as although I spend a lot of time sitting playing with DS, it's active playing IYSWIM!)

Having said that, I've been in the garden for most of the afternoon, cutting grass, weeding and clearing out the shed - and I got a whopping 725 calories back for that! Shock and I'm scheduled to go swimming tonight which will give me a minimum of 250 - so I can eat my bit of cheesecake when I return! Grin

I have weighed myself on my scales, and I weigh 1lb less than at the start of the month; but I know they weigh heavy as I weighed DS - and he's weighing much heavier than he HV weighed him at last week by about 1/2 a stone! (and there is no way he's put on that much!) but am going to work with that weight and go for it!

Thanks to all who have offered support - I'm off to add you all!

cinnamongreyhound · 11/06/2012 17:35

Mine is 1lb a week too with lightly active lifestyle MonsterBookOfTysons, maybe that inch makes me have more weight to lose so I can have more? Wink

MonsterBookOfTysons · 11/06/2012 18:44

Oh I put sedentary lifestyle, I figured then any exercise I do, like going to the shop etc is then exercise :o

cinnamongreyhound · 11/06/2012 20:23

I walk to school and back two or three times a day (which I don't log) and chase around after children so figure I'm lightly active.

RGPargy · 11/06/2012 21:14

Alicia I do work for a law firm in the big smoke, but i'm not sure if it's near a maternity hospital Hmm If it's any more of a clue, i work in Liverpool Street......

Had a fab day today foodwise. Am under on my carbs AND calories (but only by 50 lol). Hopefully if I eat like this every day this week, it will set me up for a bit of a loss on Friday. :)

aliciaflorrick · 12/06/2012 08:39

Different law firm RG although I used to work for a law firm myself in Fenchurch Street in the good old days.

Week one with the fabulous speaking scales and I've decided I like them because I have lost 1.2 kilos, although MFP is telling 0.4 but I think I put my initial info in incorrectly because I didn't have any scales. To be fair, I don't feel lighter but I'm going to carry on because maybe if I do the same next week I'll start to notice the difference.

1,200 cals can be quite difficult to stick to sometimes, particularly if you have a big dinner which will take half of them. I don't really have time to exercise as am a LP during the week (and some weekends) and am self employed, so by the time I've dropped the DCs at school, come home and worked all day so that I have time to spend with them on an evening, then put them to bed and done housework it's about 10.00 and I just want to watch TV for an hour before I go to bed.

MackerelOfFact · 12/06/2012 14:43

RGPargy what are these deli sticks of which you speak? I could do with a savoury snack on my repertoire.

I've stalled at 13lbs which is MIGHTY annoying as I want to be able to tick off my first stone. I'm 35 days in now apparently, so a stone in the first 6 weeks would be amazing.

I've been under every day but sometimes I think I overestimate my cals to be on the safe side, but might end up actually eating under 1200. I do basically need to step up and do more exercise I think, that way I can eat a little more and the difference between calories needed for weight loss vs starvation mode is less acute. Easier said than done when the weather is so bloody awful though.

LollipopViolet · 12/06/2012 18:40

I've had 2 bad days, yesterday and today :(

However, I'm about to go and have a healthy dinner, then pack my gym bag. I am going tomorrow. I also need to go into town to get some things ready for my degree show opening night on Friday - just some nice accessories and things to go with my lovely dress, which you can see me in here

I also need to get some photos printed. Busy busy busy.
