Just the act of logging shows me that I need to get out there and do some exercise!

OneTwoOrThree · 06/06/2012 21:37

Stokey - Hi and welcome! I've been meaning to reply to your post from Monday evening, but have only just found 5 free minutes!

I'm in a similar place to you... DC2 is nearly 10 weeks old, and I never lost the baby weight from DC1 (who is now over 3!).

I'm breastfeeding as well, and am also on 1200 cals + 500 for feeding. I started MFP when DC2 was 1.5 weeks (I know, I know!) and over the last 8 weeks have lost 15.5lb. I am very very pleased :)

DC2 is gaining weight nicely, following the 50th centile and generally a happy contented baby. I don't think my 'diet' is having and adverse impact!

I'm now 7lb lighter than I was pre DC2, but still some way to go to pre DC1 weight and about 2 stone more to lose to get to my goal.

I hope this reassures you that 1700 cals a day will allow you to lose weight at a nice, but sensible rate. Sometimes 1700 cals feels like quite a lot - I can eat 3 healthy meals and a chocolate bar in the evening and still have calories left. I do try to get to at least 1600 per day, as I don't want to starve the baby!

The chocolate bar in the evening is what keeps me going. I keep telling myself that if I overindulge during the the day, then I won't get my evening 'treat'.

My other advice - keep busy (out of the house works best for me) during the day to avoid 'boredom snacking', and stick with the diet at this stage - it will be much harder when we lose the 'bonus' 500 bf cals.

Sorry for the ramble, rushing off to feed DC2.....

MackerelOfFact · 07/06/2012 12:15

Welcome to the new people and congrats to the losers!

Whoever was asking about snacks, when I need a treat or pick-me-up, my current favourites are (perhaps others can share theirs too):

Skips (multipack bag) - 88 cals
Mini milk lolly - 30 cals
Mini twister lolly - 45 cals
Weetabix choc chip bar - 78 cals
Royal gala apple - 75 cals
Options hot choc sachet - 40-60 cals (depending on flavour)

I walked about 20 miles over the bank holiday weekend, but seem to have plateaued at 12lbs in terms of weight loss. Haven't lost anything for a week but am hoping that I've just been building muscle from the walking. I'm just a bit desperate to lose my first stone!

RedHotPokers · 07/06/2012 15:15

Mini milk's sound like a great idea - THIRTY calories!
My special end of day treat lately has been a Fab Ice Lolly (yumyum). They are 90cals, but the small bit of chocolate on them really hits the mark!

I have a small lunch (say one egg, one piece of bread) and then about an hour later I have one 'go ahead' biscuit (50cals) with a cuppa which seems to keep me going until tea.

I also bought some rich-tea fingers for work, so when everyone else has a biscuit, I do too - a 22 cal one (although it is on the cardboardy side Wink).

I've lost another pound since saturday when I weighed last. Very exciting as now I can announce I have lost half a stone (has taken 3.5 weeks).

MackerelOfFact · 07/06/2012 15:37

Yeah, I couldn't believe Mini Milks were only 30 cals either - they are pretty small, but it's like having ice cream! Full-size Soleros are only 90 cals too - in fact, a lot of ice lollies are pretty low when you start looking. :) As are a lot of shitty processed crisps Blush

BehindLockNumberNine · 07/06/2012 17:13

Another ice-lolly-treat-lover here too. Fabs have been my treat on hot days but am also partial to a solero. Love mini milks but they are too ... mini...

I love a couple of squares of very dark plain chocolate every evening too. In fact, come to think of it I love most sweet treats.

Finding it hard to stay on track in this weather - sitting on the sofa drinking coffee and eating biscuits and craving stodgy carb heavy dishes for dinner instead of being out and about walking the dog and eating fruit and salads.

Dreading weigh-in day already....

Welcome to all newbies, I am coming up to 60 days on mfp and it is working for me so far Grin

LollipopViolet · 07/06/2012 17:40

Right, I'm getting back into mfp.

I graduate on 13th July, and would like to be around a stone lighter.

I can do that, if I'm strict with my food and good with my exercise.

Uni is over, I have no excuses to not go to the the gym AT LEAST 3x a week. I start the gym routine on Saturday (have stuff on tomorrow). Due to uni being majorly hectic, I've not been to the gym in the past 2 weeks.

Saturday is going to hurt...

omydarlin · 07/06/2012 21:49

Hi all quick question - I over ate on the weekend by 300 cals - is it ok to do 300 cals worth of exercise and NOT eat those cals back later in the week - my average over the week will still be the same (as my daily goal) IYSWIM? Trying to do this right this time (third time lucky !)

cinnamongreyhound · 07/06/2012 22:02

Well done Stokey that's great!!

Welcome Harrietlichman, have said hello on mfp :)

Loving the tips on low calorie snacks!!

I rarely eat my exercise calories ohmydarlin, so I think that would be fine. Mfp always flags up if you've eaten less than 1200 calories but not if your net calories are less.

Stokey · 08/06/2012 15:08

Good to know onetwoorthree, starting at 1.5 weeks very impressive. I was still indulging in constant cakes then. Think sleep deprivation doesn't help the snacking, when we've had a bad night, i find it much harder to be good.

Also good advice on the ice lollies, will be ordering mini milks in next shop. Don't suppose there is any chance mini magnums are ok....

How do people calorie count when you eat out? I got takeaway last night and no idea how to count. Felt very full so just added 700 as a guess. Was from a south Indian place so not standard dishes.

BehindLockNumberNine · 08/06/2012 21:20

Aaaaargh, I am in the run up to that time of the month and just cannot stop creaving and eating chocolate....

LollipopViolet · 08/06/2012 21:26

I had a KFC with my boyfriend today Blush

Not a good start to the diet. I'm just finishing that time of the month so it explains why I wanted junk food.

Gym tomorrow - after 2 weeks off, it's going to be painful...

Stokey · 09/06/2012 09:32

Fell off band wagon last two days, having take away for dinner. Last night particularly bad as had strawberry fool pudding made with chantilly cream Blush and a glass of wine. And went out in car yesterday so hardly any exercise, not sure how to quantify running after toddler at soft play.

Determined to do better today.

LollipopViolet · 09/06/2012 10:45

Well, I didn't make the gym Blush

It's cold, raining, and I have a set of weights at home, so I'll do some strength stuff later. Today will be good food wise though.

jchocchip · 09/06/2012 15:53

been for a swim but came home ravenous. aargh!

Have decreased my target to 1lb a week as I was going over every day. This way I will try and exercise more and leave some of those calories uneaten. Need to lose a few lbs this month to get properly back into it!

BehindLockNumberNine · 09/06/2012 16:43

Woohoo, have lost another 1.2kg. That brings my total to 23lbs in 61 days. Am very happy and my trousers feel loose Grin

Just come back from taking dd riding and have decided that once I am below 15stone (currently just over 18) I will get back into the saddle. Have not ridden for 20 years and am terrified but likewise very keen to get back into it...
So this time next year I could be slim and on horseback Grin

Hope you are all having good weekends? Been for a dogwalk this morning so that is tonight's Bulmers earnt...

cinnamongreyhound · 09/06/2012 20:47

I haven't eaten fantastically the last few days but kept portions small so I didn't go over. Had savloy and chips for tea last night, followed by popcorn at my bodyshop party and today had chips and chocolate for lunch. But have been out and done my longest run ever plus a dinnner of chicken, 1/2 jacket, veg and pudding of fruit and 0% greek yoghurt so I am well under today :)

Come on LollipopViolet get to the gym tomorrow Grin

Well done on the swim jchocchip and it sounds like a good idea to decrease weightloss goal if you're finding too hard to stay within your calories.

Well done BehindLockNumberNine, the horseriding sounds like a good aim to have! Enjoy your Bulmers :)

harrietlichman · 10/06/2012 07:12

Have lost my first half a stone since starting on MFP! Am so chuffed - and really finding the method of writing everything down to be so useful - especially knowing that my diary can be read by everyone!

Went out for a very posh lunch on Friday and ate my body weight the food was so good. I posted about it on MFP, as some of you know, and took advice to work it off after. Went to the gym yesterday and as I was looking for my exercise card was approached by one of the gym trainers - she had a few spare hours and wondered if I was interested in a free personal training session. Of course I said yes....it was absolutely fabulous but I am sooo stiff this morning! There were times when I thought I was going to die! Definatley worked me out harder than I normally do. So today I am taking DS2 to a party (at 9.30am!) and then going for a family swim session - not so much calorie burning but better than nothing.

Sunday is always a bit of a flash point for me, diet wise. I love a good Sunday roast and am doing one today - always go over on my calorie allowance!

LollipopViolet · 10/06/2012 13:41

Well, have been for a walk round the shops, and came back empty handed (no shoes :()

Missed breakfast, had a mushroom lasagne for lunch and was glad I'd not eaten breakfast - 645 calories!!!! Shock

Sunday roast with lots of veggies later, so shouldn't do too badly. I weighed myself and just one day of really healthy eating has resulted in...

Just under a pound, according to my kilo to pound converter thingy. It was however, that time of the month when I did the first weigh in, so I'm taking it at face value. Will weigh in properly on Friday I think :)

LollipopViolet · 10/06/2012 13:54

Woohoo, now going to the gym tomorrow before uni :)

laurenamium · 10/06/2012 19:10

Hi all can I join? I have been using MFP for a while, and have lost 18.2lb so far, since end of February. I have 3 stone to lose, my weight loss has slowed down and I have had a terrible week. I'm thinking if I have friends on there I might feel a bit more motivated? I am also a shredder and up until last week I was doing that religiously!

My MFP name is laurenamium, am I ok to add people?

cinnamongreyhound · 10/06/2012 19:46

I will add you now laurenamium, pretty sure you can add everyone from here just mention you're from mn in your request :). Welcome!

laurenamium · 10/06/2012 19:51

Thank you! Going to get back into it all from tomorrow!

LollipopViolet · 10/06/2012 22:11

Feel free to add me too, same name as on here :)

CarpeJugulum · 11/06/2012 09:19

Can I join in too?

Very unmotivated, but if someone is watching (and nagging!) me then I may start shifting the weight.

The app is indicating I should be eating 1210 per day - which doesnt seem a lot to me - although I am mostly managing it. I'm 5ft and when weighed at the start of the month, I was 11.5 stone, and I'd like to loose 1.5 stone as a minimum.

Any thoughts on calories etc?
