Hi everyone, have changed to MyfitnessPal name for on here .

bucketbetty sorry you're feeling that way- I agree the bad weather doesn't help matters with exercise. What types of exercise do you do? Try not to be hard on yourself though. I would like to try low carbs myself but think I would find it hard as I'm vegetarian

yawningmonster · 08/02/2012 18:33

littlepennylane glad to find another vegetarian. I am also having trouble keeping carbs down and like bucketbetty I have yet to actually lose any weight. I did take some measurements the other day though as someone said it was sometimes a more reliable measure of weight loss as I could be trading fat for muscles if that makes sense. It is hard to stick to when there doesn't appear to be much difference. It keeps saying if you keep going you will have xx loss in 5 weeks but I don't see it happening at this rate.

Wifezilla · 08/02/2012 19:55

Another one struggling to lose weight here too...I got to my pre 1st pregnancy weight just before going on holiday in November. After 3 weeks of eating, followed by the usual excesses of Christmas, I started the year 6lb heavier than my lowest weight. From the 9th of Jan I have made a real effort with eating/exercise but haven't really lost anything - my weight is fluctuating by about 3lb, but even at the lowest point I'm still 3lb from my Nov weight. ( and still another 5lb or so from "target").

I'm training for a marathon with my longest run being 15 miles so far, so low carbing isn't really an option. In fact, dieting isn't really an option so after wallowing for the past few days I now feel ready to get back on track...

I have adjusted my mfp weight up to my current weight (I'd left it as it was in the hope it wouldn't take long to get back down there). I'm actually going to up my calories, not sure how much by yet, perhaps 100 cal per day (currently on 1200), and my aim is to make better food choices and eat as little sugar as possible. However with a 1 & 2 (almost 3) year old, convenience often wins out with choosing food.

I was planning a run tonight but the paths around here aren't cleared of snow and it's too icy, so I'm off for a round of Insanity.

I think I saw someone asking about exercising late in the day - I don't generally start exercising before 8pm once kids in bed and I've had a chance to tidy up. Whilst I'm certainly not someone to be offering advice, just wanted to let you know you're not alone!

I'm sloth45 on mfp - will try to add those I've missed... Grin

bucketbetty · 08/02/2012 20:01

Hi queen, I'm craving carbs. I'm veggie too and I enjoy carbs. I'm having a relapse at the moment. I did brilliantly today but tonight I've totally binged. I had a healthy enough dinner but then had 4 biscuits then a packet of crisps. I've lost that feeling I had that I enjoyed that less bloated feeling. It's like I'm pushing myself to feel big and bloated again.

bucketbetty · 08/02/2012 20:12

Exercise is usually running, cycling or walking. I used to do a lot of spin but gave up the gym due to finding time and money. I did a really brisk hour long walk today but don't get a chance every day.

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 08/02/2012 20:14

wifezilla wow, a marathon...I'm in awe. I would think it's incredibly difficult to lose weight while training for a marathon. Eddie Izzard did a million marathons in a million days (ok it was 43 marathons in 51 days Grin) and didn't lose any weight.

bucket if you've started into binge territory maybe you should try something like Paul McKenna. That sorted out my dysfunctional thinking when dieting messed me up!

littlepennylane · 09/02/2012 07:07

Morning everyone.

yawningmonster how long have you been veggie? I'm practically lifelong so my diet has always been very carb heavy. Although, my friend who is veggie did quite a low carb diet (I remember her really lacking in energy at the time though so not sure if that was related)

wifezilla very impressed at doing a marathon. I would love to be able to run well but when I have tried I end up in pain!

I'm hoping my 30 day shred DVD arrives today so I can attempt to do some when twins are in bed this evening (I may only manage 5 minutes but that is 5 minutes more than I usually do in the evenings!)

I say I need to lose baby weight but I have actually managed to put on a stone since leaving hospital with them nearly 9 months ago... this is due to being knackered and having too many take aways and me grabbing chocolate etc in the day. I would like to get out of the house for a good walk every day with my huge pushchair but the weather really doesn't help with this! Managed to yesterday though and will tomorrow as walking with a friend.

Hope everyone has a good day Smile

yawningmonster · 09/02/2012 07:27

Hi I have been vege for 15 years but was very low meat before that. I am hoping that as you say 5 minutes is 5 minutes and it all counts as some days I am only fitting in small bursts in between child needs. Doing loads of walking here as it is summer but can see it tailing off when it gets colder, it is already getting darker at night when we are walking (have a group of 4-5 of us that go together about 8.30 once all the littlies are in bed and the husbands etc are home.

JoJoBaldwin · 09/02/2012 09:34

Not doing brilliant this week as have DD home with chicken pox, so no gym visits. Finding it really difficult not to over eat while I am in the house all day. Managed to dust off the wii fit yesterday and did 35 minutes of cardio followed by 20 min hard ea sports workout so that was something at least.

Weigh in day tomorrow so really want to be sensible today so I can at least stay the same!

Welcome newbies and feel free to add me (same as mumsnet name).

FrumpyPumpy · 09/02/2012 13:22

Hi, I have been doing MFP since October and have lost 33lb, started couch25k this week as needed a change from gym. I am going to add you all as friends if that's ok when I work out how to do it, I am bfing still but only at night and 2 feeds in the day so I allow myself 1400 cals now and you will see I do a lot of cardio 'breastfeeding' too but am not cheating honest.

I need some inspiration to get me back on thd wagon. I fell off last week and this week started badly don't mention 4 sausage rolls on Monday.

FrumpyPumpy · 09/02/2012 13:26

Oh and my name on mfp is also trickywoo. In case you would like to be my friend

bexsybooboo · 09/02/2012 19:38

Hey everyone Smile

Well I'm still logging even after 185 days but for the last month have lost only approx 3ibs Sad

Am struggling to motivate and get my exercise in which is worrying me as my first 10k is only just over a month away Sad

Its not helping that it is so cold out and like some of you I can only get out and exercise once everyone settled for the night Sad the other is honestly we are going through a real rough time at work due to shitty government funding cuts and morale is really low meaning I'm getting home and emotionally drained Sad

I'm going to continue to log etc but not counting on much of a loss which is really a little disheartening as wanted to get below 13st before middle of February Sad

Sorry lots of sad faces tonight but not feeling it at moment

Everyone else is doing so well keep it up as it does give you a proper buzz when you lose weight but also achieve great exercise calorie burns Smile

Username on MFP: Bexsy feel free to add me Smile

trice · 09/02/2012 21:40

Sodding weather is ruining my c25k training. It would be stupid to try and run on wet ice. I did the 30dayshred level one workout instead and now can barely move I'm so stiff.

Wifezilla · 09/02/2012 22:21

mychilddoesntneedsleep thanks for the info on Eddie Izzard not losing weight - what hope do I have then??! I always seem to find some kind of excuse...I have ran marathons before (I'm very slow though!) and whilst I never lost weight then, I am heavier now so kind of hoped it would just "fall off"! I am only running as I deferred from last year due to being pregnant, and if I don't run this year then I lose my place. Still not 100% sure on doing it yet as am struggling to find the time to train, especially with this pesky snow...

There is some serious weightless going on here - I love hearing about your losses and desperately hope I can lose some too just by association

I've just been shopping and bought loads of healthy food, so no excuse to slip up over the weekend. Today hasn't been so good as I've been at work and seem to need to eat my way through to the end of the day. I'm due to run 17 miles on the weekend - not looking forward to it Hmm

jchocchip · 10/02/2012 06:40

Hi Bexsy Sorry you are having a tough time of it at work. I've only just started back after 4 months sick leave and we have lost so many staff it will be very difficult if our seasonal workload appears after Easter. My lovely manager is off on a years leave from today and we have a difficult character to cover for the duration which I am not looking forward to. We also have new ways of working which will mean hot desking - way out of my comfort zone! sorry for the ramble. I just meant to say you have done so well don't worry if your loss slows now, even if you average 2lb a month you will get there soon. The snow has been a sod for running, but unlikely to continue until the summer, so we have better weather to look forward to. Seriously impressed by marathon runners! I couldn't run for a bus in December but now I'm on week 7 of c25k and Bexsy you planted the idea so I am eternally grateful Thanks

bexsybooboo · 10/02/2012 06:59

JCHOCCHIP Thanks for encouragement. Am just taking one day ata time in work as so many emotions going around that I have to still try and stay focus as their manager. Am hoping to at least maintain the loss as this is the lightest I have been for over 4/5years a long time. So if I can stay at it or lose little then I need to think of that as a positive. Great news for you and the couch 25k. You have done briliiantly. I was always surprised at how quick the weeks went by and how I went from 'I can't bloody do this to thinking Oh My god I can run'. Keep it up you are an inspiration to us all to show you can do it if you really want to Smile

On a positive to start my healthy eating week as WI was today some how I managed to lose 1.5ibs Smile

Good luck guys with WI's and calorie burns Smile

yawningmonster · 10/02/2012 07:42

Hello all. Bexsy and Jchoc you both sound a bit stressed by work at the moment. I have toyed with the idea of couch to 5 k but at the moment my sternum (broken 6mths ago) still can't handle impact very well. I am really struggling to get back to my aerobics as it throbs when I try.

I am starting a 13 week course here on Monday night called flab to fab. It has a nutritionist and personal trainer. Each session is 2 hours long once a week. The programme is individually tailored to participants so the personal trainer will design a fitness regime that will take into account my sternum and the fact that 99 per cent of the time I have children (so can't do gym for example). The nutritionist will design a menu for me to follow. There are weigh ins and measurements each week and we will have a diary similar to mfp and a calorie calculator. I am really looking forward to it and hopefully it will be as great as I am imagining it to be. At the end of the 13 weeks there is an option to continue for another 13 weeks or you can attempt to fly solo. DH has (on my request) bought it as my 40th birthday present.

yawningmonster · 10/02/2012 07:43

oh forgot to say rgic is my mfp name

RGPargy · 10/02/2012 15:23

OMG!!! I just typed a really long message to you all and then when i click on post, i wasn't logged in anymore!!!! 'kin 'ell!!!!!!!

Anyway, basically i said have a good weekend and try to be semi-good.

Also asked if the veggies on here ate meat free substitutes as my DP does and i have tried a few of them and they are quite low carb.

No gym for me on Sat as DP is working which means i have to take DD to ballet (it starts at the same time as pump at the gym). Will be doing Combat on Pump on Sunday morning tho so i suppose that's one thing! I hate missing my classes - i get really ratty!!!

saynothing · 10/02/2012 17:41

Hi everyone inspireme123 here, think everyone seems to be having a bad wk for some reason, even most of the people on my sponsored slim lost nothing or put on weight. I stayed the same but done no exercise as I had the cold and had a night away for wedding anniversary so I was happy enough.

I bought 30day shred yesterday so can't wait to get stuck in when it arrives. Thinking of starting c25k now too as the weathers a bit better
here. Do those of u that have it just run with your iPhone, I need to
get an arm strap for it I think.

Really want to tone up, I'm 4lb off target weight but thought id be more toned, hoping it has something to do with just having had a baby, maybe it's harder to tone stomach after regardless of weight loss.

bucketbetty · 10/02/2012 20:11

Evening all. No shift in my weight this week again. I went to doctor who told me my thyroid was back to normal but it might take 6 months to lose any weight. Not sure why this is the case but I'm not worrying about it. I've had an awful week foodwise. I've over eaten pretty much every day this week. I had chocolate today too. I plan on lord of wine this weekend too. I'm going for a run tomorrow to counteract the guilt of none most of the week.

RGPargy · 10/02/2012 23:01

There's deffo something in the air re bad food! I have had to go to bed so that I don't eat a cinnamon bagel with jam and a hot chocolate! I do want that right now lol!

Went to the pub today with the girls from work and although I didn't eat coz I had a salad in the fridge, I did indulge in a large glass of wine. Sad It was my first in nearly 2 weeks tho so I don't think i should feel as bad as I do!

yawningmonster · 10/02/2012 23:16

Anyone willing to look at my menu for the day and tell me how to eat the rest of my calories without upping the carbs too much more

yawningmonster · 10/02/2012 23:22

btw won't be earning much in the way of excercise calories today as horrible day here and on my own with both children. Will try to get an yoga workout once they are in bed but that doesn't really burn much. Am really trying to stick with it as I have tried mfp before and given up in a huff when it wasn't giving me results. Not looking too good this time either but am trying to be really good with food and excercise. I am thinking I really do need to try to cut carbs but finding it hard. Meat subs are hard to get here. I don't really like tofu much so rely on lentils and chickpeas alot.

yawningmonster · 11/02/2012 00:36

I added some cheese into the dinner and that upped the cals. Does going over your protein matter? Any ideas on reducing those carbs on a vege diet would be appreciated though
