Cambridge Diet

Firstly, apologies if this thread is already on here, but I couldn't find it. Last time I did the Cambridge diet I found lots of help and support on Mumsnet and was hoping there would be a thread in place to help me this time ..........

Day one today, had a chocolate shake with lots of ice, a pint of water and am currently drinking a cup of hot water.

Yesterday I was weighed at my consultants house and I was 14 stones 7 and a half pounds. Going on holiday on the 26th September and would love 2 stones off by then. Last year I did this diet for my sisters wedding and lost 28 pounds in as many days. Was very pleased, unfortunatly I am a greedy PIG and cannot control my eating. Am doing to do ss for a month then a week at a time until my hol,as much as I can. Then will follow slimming world principles during and after my holiday, just need this kick start to get me going!

If anyone would like to join me on this thread we can help each other, last year the help I got on here was invaluable!

That sounds good pudding!

I had a terrible day - i think my dealer telling me i could have food has been my undoing! I had a long workshop (midday til 5) at work today, and planned to duck out about 2 to have my shake. But I got in there and lunch was provided with loads of sandwiches... ARGH! My willpower crumpled Sad... and am now contemplating having something for dinner, but then going back on SS tomorrow properly as I don't think i can cope with having a little bit of food - i need to cut it out completely. Annoyed as will now definitely be out of ketosis and was just getting to the stage of not feeling hungry all the time! Dammit.

How is everyone? it's quiet today!

TrollyDolly1 · 20/08/2010 00:51

Oh lurking, never mind, I think we have all had a few slip ups. Try not to beat yourself up about it. Tomorrow is another day.

When is the biggest loser on tv? Feel I need to see this Jillian women in action.

Good Afternoon all! How are we all doing? I fell great today, drank my full water allowence already. Is that how the weight is lost, through the ketones leaving your body?

Puddingtoast · 20/08/2010 12:18

oh lurker, don't stress, you can still get back on the wagon.

i have a 2 and a half week holiday coming up (leave sept 9) and i'm partly dreading it -i'm going home and there are so many restaurants i miss and would love to eat at! but i'm going to limit to one meal a day, and keep it low carb. do you reckon that's achieveable? or should i just stick to SS?

TrollyDolly1 · 20/08/2010 12:48

Pudding, saw on Minimins that you were asking about hypnosis. I'm considering it. Are you going to do it?

As for your holiday - I think one meal per day is achievable, it will give you some thing to look forward to (food wise) and might (?) help you stick to your shakes during the day. I miss food ........ Still 37 days till we go on holiday and once I am shredding all this flab will hopefully tone up and I will be a happier bunny on my hols!

TrollyDolly1 · 20/08/2010 13:18

AAARRRRGGGGHHHH the shred has arrived! Going to do it now!!!!!

OP posts:
Fel1x · 20/08/2010 13:23

Have fun shredding TD!

Pudding - one meal a day on hol sounds fine. It is a holiday after all and you want to enjoy it! If you have one meal a day you'll have something to look forward to plus you'll still be making great progress on the diet as its only the one meal a day!

Its my weigh in tonight. Started Sunday so its only 5 days on CD and I cheated on two of those days so wont be a massive loss!! Still expecting a few lbs though if my scales are to be believed!

TrollyDolly1 · 20/08/2010 14:03

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
TrollyDolly1 · 20/08/2010 14:23

Right, I can type now! Lol. Gosh, that was HARD! but fab! I loved it and it's done now. Wonderful.

Do feel slightly disgusted with myself though. DS is 2.5 now, I should have got a grip of myself such a long time ago. This time last year, I had suffered the pain of CD and done amazingly well, came off it and had not learnt a thing. I am just worried .......... will I learn anything this time? What makes this time different I wonder.

Puddingtoast · 20/08/2010 18:13

ah trolly, this is my fear too! But people can change, right? It has to be a conscious choice to live well and to eat well. Mensa sano in corpore sana; a healthy mind in a healthy body (dusts off spectacles and adjusts wig).

I hope that this break from food, and learning to control my hunger and cravings will put me back in control of my tummy rather than being a slave to it.

And i'll see how i cope with stress etc with respect to hypnosis. i mean it can't hurt right? If i think of it as deep medidation then it doesn't give me the heebiejeebies so much. [hmmm]

FatGirlThin · 20/08/2010 19:03

Ok I've caved and ordered the dreaded shred. I'm going to make DH do it too Will we be able to do it in the same room (biggish room) without hitting each other?

Stuffed mushroom for tea again tonight. It is geniunely tasty - unlike most of the other concoctions I've made on SS+ Blush

Good luck for the weigh in Fel1x. I just keeping thinking, compared to what I was eating even Cambridge + cheating is brilliant!

Trolly - I think that because you put it on last time you will be far more aware this time of falling into the same bad patterns. Also all the running and shredding should keep you on an even keel when you start eating more normally.

Pudding - let me know how the hypnosis goes, it is something I've thought about. A friend just stopped smoking overnight with it. He said it was the easiest thing he ever did (having tried and failed before to give up).

Fel1x · 20/08/2010 19:17

I lost 7lbs at weigh in! Pretty pleased with that co sidering it's only 5 days in and I cheated a bit!
Gonna carry on this week the same way and am hoping for at least 5lb off in week 2!

TrollyDolly1 · 20/08/2010 19:18

FGT - Where have you been! Missed you! Guess what me DP doing this very second, whilst I am busy doing important stuff on the internet. SHREDDING!!!!! Hahahahahahaha, its so funny, he muttering and complaining and sweating a bucket! lol, The most hilarious thing is he said this morning that he would shred then go for a run! hahahahaha,I dont think so. FGT, there is minimal movement needed so think you should be fine!

How did you do Fel1x? Pudding, I'm going to write that phrase on little post its and stick them every where, very inspiring. lol. I'm going to ring the hypnosis women when I get back from my trip see what she can do for me.

DP just turned off the DVD player muttering under his breath "evil women". Not sure if he was refering to me or Jillian! lol. Grin

LOL at your husband Trolly. Mine is loafing on the sofa next to me...shall I tell him now or later I wonder

WELL DONE FEL1x - that's fantastic!

My weight loss is really slow this week, feel like I'm hitting a bit of a wall. I really should stop weighing myself so often.

TrollyDolly1 · 21/08/2010 06:56

Lol, I've just shredded again. Feel good. I have to keep the scales hidden, know what I am like. Get weighed on Tuesday, but I will have just landed that day and from my experience I know I can weigh over 5 lbs heavier the day I land. So don't think I will be spurred on any.

Just finished my 1st pint of water of the day, going to get sorted for work now. Have a good weekend ladies!

OP posts:
Puddingtoast · 21/08/2010 14:04

lol FGT i'm a weighaholic. I'm so excited to be in the 160's - 169.2lb to be precise :) As long as i'm loosing every day i'm going to keep on weighing myself. As soon as i start to plateau or approach TOTM i'm going to stop as it will be just demoralizing.

Going to shred tonight for the first time, and make my DH do it with me. He's a gym rat and a runner and a cyclist so he fancies himself to be quite fit. We'll see!!! MWHAHAHAHA

TrollyDolly1 · 22/08/2010 02:01

Evening all! Just having my last shake of the day. I have been and bought me and dp some weights. Mine are 2 lbs and his are 3. Have ached massively today, but I am figuring that the shred must be working. Have managed to pursude one of the girls to shred with me these next two mornings, and we are going to combine it with a run and my belly blast DVD. Should be a good session. How was your shredding pudding? How did your dh do? When I rang home tonight, my dp had done his shred and was aching! Lol.

Oh, last thing, saw a friend today that I have not seen in a little while and she said I looked fab! She couldn't get over how thin she thought I was! Spured me on some what, although still a long way to go!

TrollyDolly1 · 22/08/2010 13:31

Hello! How is every one getting on? This morning I have been for a run and shredded. Feel really good. Just about to have my shake now, before going for a gossip and some yummy iced water. Lol. Hope everyone is feeling good

OP posts:
FatGirlThin · 22/08/2010 13:39

I'm bored! Never have sandwiches seemed more appealing. I have only lost 2.5 lbs this week (unless I lose more tonight, my weigh in is tonigh) which is really feckin annoying. Ho hum, it's a quiet day at home so am feeling more aggravated than I usually would.
I have now done a comprehensive taste test of the bars and can conclude that really only the cranberry one is tolerable (actually I haven't tried peanut yet, I'm going to try that next week).

Trolly- you sound so positive, I'm impressed! Also I am flabberghasted by all your exercise, I couldn't manage all that at the moment, I'd be out cold! I'm still hungry most of the time.
I have ordered the shred though, it has apparently been dispatched. I have warned dh he is doing it, he just hrmphed.

Grump grump.

Puddingtoast · 22/08/2010 19:44

i'm bored too, feel like im on autopilot! Sigh. 9 and a half weeks left (but not feeling like kim basisnger AT ALL)

TrollyDolly1 · 23/08/2010 13:13

Confessions of a fat trolly - I ate yesterday. Just with all this exercise, running and shredding and belly blasting I am STARVING! So I had some chicken and veg. .............. Oh, ok and some bread. I will be firmly out of ketosis and I know that the whole point of this diet, but, I am happy Cding for weeks and then some times I just want food. I know it's not the point, but I'm still on a very low calorie intake, and exercising ............ Am I just kidding myself? Am I slowly toppling back off the wagon again? And if I am, I wonder, have I learnt? Put my size 16 trousers on yesterday, now I have been shoe horning myself into them for ages, in fact I don't think I have ever stopped wearing them they are just vvvvvv tight and uncomfy, yet yesterday they fit me. And a few more people have commented on my weight loss, this should be an incentive for me! I won't eat today or on the flight home.

After all tomorrow is another day ..........

OP posts:
Puddingtoast · 23/08/2010 18:19

BAD TROLLY! You're EXCOMMUNICATED from this thread!

lol. don't stress chick. you're living a healthy lifestyle - that's an achievement, with or without ketosis! CD will just make the weight fall off quicker; as long as you're still motivated who cares if you take a few detours along your 'journey'

FatGirlThin · 23/08/2010 19:37

AWWWWW Trolly! Don't worry, we've all fallen off the wagon, why do you think we're all doing this ridiculous diet now! It's surely not because we are the epitome of self control around food. Do you think you might be doing a bit too much exercise considering the VLCD we are on? It does worry me a bit.

I was weighed this morning, I lost 3lbs which was fine. I've lost 15lbs in 3 weeks now which is is good but seems the tip of the iceburg when I know I have another 2 1/2 stone to lose! Talk about glass half empty Blush

Right, I'm off to make my teeny meal - chicken cooked in spices with salad tonight.

((((big unmnetty hugs all round, especially you TrollySmile)))

Puddingtoast · 24/08/2010 06:52

I think i may be in love. I've lost 14lbs in 3 weeks - had a 6lb loss this week!!!

OMGOMGOMG it's really working!!! woowoo!
