Cambridge Diet

Firstly, apologies if this thread is already on here, but I couldn't find it. Last time I did the Cambridge diet I found lots of help and support on Mumsnet and was hoping there would be a thread in place to help me this time ..........

Day one today, had a chocolate shake with lots of ice, a pint of water and am currently drinking a cup of hot water.

Yesterday I was weighed at my consultants house and I was 14 stones 7 and a half pounds. Going on holiday on the 26th September and would love 2 stones off by then. Last year I did this diet for my sisters wedding and lost 28 pounds in as many days. Was very pleased, unfortunatly I am a greedy PIG and cannot control my eating. Am doing to do ss for a month then a week at a time until my hol,as much as I can. Then will follow slimming world principles during and after my holiday, just need this kick start to get me going!

If anyone would like to join me on this thread we can help each other, last year the help I got on here was invaluable!

lol when i spoke to a lighter life consulatant, she admitted to not having ever done the program! Talk about money hungry!

I've just finished my 2nd week, and i've lost 8lbs in total; 3lb week one, and 5 lb week 2. YAY! Not earth shatering amazing, but not too shabby.

And yes, i'm the same pudding on mini mins :)

lurkingsnurker · 16/08/2010 18:51

Well done FGT - fabulous. You need to put it in perspective... 2 weeks ago you were nearly a stone lighter; fantastic progress Smile

And to you 3ismylot - another 4lbs. So that's 2st 8lbs in 8 weeks? Wow! I am in awe of your willpower... I will be one very happy lady if I get anywhere near that!

Puddingtoast 8lbs is a great loss in two weeks. I don't think it's wierd not telling anyone - I'm also not telling anyone about it - I disappear for five mins at lunch to have my tetra shake at work. people are so judgey judgey about this diet, and I just can't be bothered to defend it.

And hello to everyone else... how you doin' Fel1x?

I am struggling again today - still S T A R V I N G hungry, and to top it off, it's our wedding anniversary today and all I want to do is have a nice meal and some wine to celebrate Sad. I have already had all three shakes today, but feel like I need more. Early bed again methinks. it's a good job I'm reading a decent book at the moment as there sure as hell is nothing on tv to work as any kind of distraction!

My dealer is quite slim - she lost 5 stone on CD 5 years ago and has pretty much kept it off. She is very evangelical about the diet Hmm, but at least she has been there too.

Keeping at it despite it all - hope you are too Smile

3ismylot · 16/08/2010 21:05

Lurkingsnurker the hunger will be gone soon but I know how hard it is Sad fair play to you doing cambridge on your anniversary though! Ours isnt till december so hoping to be at target by then lol.
Yes 2st 8lbs in 8 weeks which Im very happy with. Im sure you will be celebrating the same kind of loss very soon x

How does everyone else spread out their shakes?
I have mine at 10am, 3pm and 8pm but am having to get up at least once in the night to pee which is getting a bit annoying now so may have it an hour earlier instead?

Well I did 30 day shred tonight and I am so gonna ache in the morning!! enjoyed it though and am quite looking forward to it tomorrow!

Hope everyone is okay and on the wagon Grin

TrollyDolly1 · 16/08/2010 22:10

Well done FGT!!! 3 lbs is very good, and at least this week that is pure fat which has gone. I am very pleased for you!

Mumhadenough, hope your feeling better. To be honest if there was another consultant nearer to me I would swap. she is not very motivational and support is virtually non existent, however, as I am determined myself that does not really matter. She admits that she does cd all day and then caves in on a night when her dh eats his tea. From the way she talks she does this most days.

The flight today was ok, kept myself busy at all times, especially when the others were eating. Am feeling very tired now, need to have my last shake then I think it will be bed for me.

Don't know what is with my feet, they are never normally like this! Very odd! Lol. Blush

FatGirlThin · 17/08/2010 13:55

You and your running Trolly! It's very impressive. I might try the 30 min shred like 3ismylot. I love the biggest loser, Gillian is fab! I HATE exercise though Sad Maybe she'll scare me into it Smile

I've had a choc orange bar for lunch. . The first mouthful is ok then it goes down hill rapidly! My daughter (aged 7yrs) said 'mummy, that looks really delicious' I said 'try a nibble then', she chewed it slowly, thought for a bit then said 'it doesn't taste as good as it looks' which says it all really.

I spread my shakes and teeny meal:
8.30 shake 1pm shake 4.30pm shake 7.30pm teeny meal. Having something at 4.30 really helps, I'm always REALLY hungry then.

TrollyDolly1 · 17/08/2010 14:20

What's this shred thing ..... Am going to google it......

FatGirlThin · 17/08/2010 14:33

this DH and I are addicted to The Biggest Loser and Jillian kicks arse in it. Oh yes! Grin

Fel1x · 17/08/2010 16:57

Hi,
Had a little set back today (only day 3!) and ate some lunch instead of my shake, but am back on the wagon now and it will be a soup for dinner and back on track tomorrow!
Will try and do a 30day shred workout tonight to help burn off the lunch!!

FatGirlThin · 17/08/2010 17:07

Oh, don't worry Felx, everyone has set backs! Just a word of warning, they do not recommend strenuous exercise when you are doing SS. This is the Cambridge Forum, there's a section about exercise here

lurkingsnurker · 17/08/2010 20:17

Fel1x - it will be fine, my first week consisted of a roast lunch and dinner out as well as two days on SS+ Blush and I still lost 9lbs!

I am seriously grieving foooooooood. i really do think it is psychological hunger I am feeling, because i don't have any of the physical symptoms (tummy ache, shaking etc). DH has just gone out to eat some junk food - my refusal to cook while I'm on SS has not done his diet any good at all Grin Still, I am feeling a little better today, so maybe I am entering a repreive!

I spread my shakes by one at 7am in the car (and I think this might be my problem - should leave til later?), then one about 2pm, then after girls in bed I have my soup at about 7.30pm.

I quite fancy trying Shred too; but thought I would wait until on SS+ - let me know how you get on ladies Smile

3ismylot · 17/08/2010 20:42

Fel1x Dont worry about it, getting back on track is the important thing.

Just done day 2 of shred and its pretty tough but doesnt seem to be effecting me or my hunger so cant complain Smile feel a bit stiff but thats just because I have been a lazy bugger for the last 28 years lol

Week 9 is going well and I was looking at all the chocolate, cake and crisps I have in the house for my kids and I really didnt fancy any of it! They would of been a massive binge waiting to happen a couple of months ago and although I know this mentatlity wont last forever Im enjoying it while it does lol

Puddingtoast · 17/08/2010 22:49

ha i like that you're on a cooking strike lurker!

i've ordered the shred dvd, and going to alternate it with a pilates dvd too.

has anyone started making comments about your weight loss yet? i've had a couple comments and i get really embarrassed, and i don't know what to say! Blush

Mummalish · 18/08/2010 15:55

Hi all,

Just a quick question for anyone who knows....

I lost a good chunk of weight on CD a few months back, but then went off the rails.

So have been on WW for a few weeks and getting on well.

I wouldn't mind giving my weight loss a boost though by doing Cambridge for a week or two. But I'm worried that if I go between WW and Cambridge that the weight will just go back on.

What do you think?

TrollyDolly1 · 18/08/2010 16:51

Morning everybody! Busy busy day yesterday! I have ordered the shred DVD from amazon so hopefully I can do a bit of toning up. If I look in the mirror, in the semi darkness and close one eye I don't look that bad. Apart from my huge roll of fat around my middle. I mean don't get me wrong I could pick fault with the rest of my body quite easily but my main problem is ....... I don't know how to describe it ........ Like I'm wearing a short apron, the fat literally hangs off me. Is this because I had a c section do you think? I have tried doing sit ups and the like but I just cannot get up off the floor.

Pudding - don't be embarrassed! You have worked so hard to get where you are. Everyone on CD knows just how hard this diet is. Nobody has noticed any of mine yet, but I can feel my clothes are looser and with a lot of highlighter, I can make out my cheek bones! Lol.

Have you shredded today 3ismylot? Do I need to buy anything (weights etc)? How often do you have to do the DVD? I've been trying to run whilst I am away but I can't see any results. The things we put ourselves through! You are so good, week 9!!!! An inspiration. Are you on ss still?

Fel1x don't worry about your little set back, your back on track now, that's what matters!

Hope everyone is ok, tomorrow is my danger day, I could eat anything and everything in sight the day I land ........ And so to FGT's mantra LBD LBD LBD LBD .............

Mummalish, I'm not really sure to be honest. That's my plan. Stick to this for a month and then jump on the slimming world wagon. I wanted to abstain from food so I could change my perspective of it.

I was thinking though, that I could do a week of cd the week before my holidays, just to remind me. But isn't the 1st weeks loss is generally the bodys store of water and carbohydrate, which we we put straight back on when eating again? That's the way I understand it but I am not sure.

OP posts:
Puddingtoast · 18/08/2010 19:10

OMG what is that?! i have BONES STICKING OUT OF MY NECK!

oh wait...hello collarbones. It's been a while, my old friends.

TrollyDolly1 · 18/08/2010 19:13

Lol pudding!

3ismylot · 18/08/2010 19:25

Trollydolly will be doing shred in a minute, you need some handweights but if you dont wanna splash out yet you could use a couple of cans of beans to start lol.
The idea is to do it every day for 30 days and to work up the levels in that time.
Yeah Im still on ss and will do my 810 week on week 11 and then back to ss until goal and then work up the plans.

Mummalish it would be fine to do that aslong as you followed the steps on cambridge to stabilise before going onto ww.

I am gonna stabilise then follow a slimming world type way of eating afterwards.

well Im off to shred so have a good evening ladies and be cd good x

Puddingtoast · 18/08/2010 19:43

anyone seen the 'cook yourself thin' show? the chick has a website and it's 10 quid a month subscription for skinny recipes.

I might do this when i come off the SS and need to expand my repetoire of healthy meals.

Thoughts? I still have 9 1/2 weeks on SS so hhave some time to research! :P

Fel1x · 18/08/2010 19:55

Am sitting here drinking my soup right now!
Today has gone ok, day 4, ate lunch as was out in restaurant with friends so couldn't not eat, but had small salad so am thinking it wasn't too bad.
2 more totally ss days before weigh in fri night!
You guys all sound like you are doing so well.

lurkingsnurker · 18/08/2010 20:05

Evening ladies Smile

So had my second WI this morning - and lost another 3lbs. I feel a little disappointed as my scales were showing a 5lb loss two days ago, and I inexplicably put 2lbs on yesterday - argh!

So I am confused, and, I admit, a cynic. My dealer goes on hols today for two weeks. I have done 2 weeks of SS, and fully expected a few more weeks of SS before moving up to SS+ or 810. Anyhow... she recommended I do a week of 810 this week. Isn't that a bit odd? the cynic in me says that they may get paid by weight loss, and as I am weighing with someone else next week... well, you get what I'm saying? Does anyone know?! Or do you think this is normal? She says it's good to have food intermittently as it stimulates the metabolism, and overall weight loss is faster - I'd go back on to SS for a couple of weeks after, then back up to 810. I agreed to do SS+ this week as I am going on hols in 2 weeks and really want to keep the losses going (plus, I think the 2lbs I put on are probably water, and I hope to lose it next week!).

Pudding... lol at your collarbones - I have yet to be reacquainted with mine Grin I've not seen the show - but anything to keep the variety going with skinny recipes is a good thing imo... boredom is often the killer for me.

Trolly - I have the tummy thing too, but no c-sections here. i think it is just the joys of a post baby body, and I haven't managed to be rid of mine (even when I got down to 11st after the birth of DD1). I am resigned to it (though tbh, didn't try too many toning exercises... I find them so booooring!) - control pants are the way to go Grin

Hmmm... let me know how you get on with Shred, I am tempted... the amazon button is calling me!

Puddingtoast · 19/08/2010 19:06

mmmm

I had a chocolate tetra today, heated up in the microwave and added a teaspoon of decaf coffee. Try it if you haven't, it's lush!

Fel1x · 19/08/2010 20:01

Evening,

Lurker, not sure about then getting paid by weight loss, but I guess they do get commision from selling you the sachets so the longer you need them....

My dealer seems to be a bit the other way though - my weight and target weight mean that the ideal program for me should be 810 apparently but she told me all the details of SS and sent me away with the sachets saying 'you are supposed to do the 810 program but obviously I cant see what you do when I'm not there and if you do get TOO FULL UP to manage all of that on the 810 plan then cut out the food first rather than cutting out any of the sachets' lol

TrollyDolly1 · 19/08/2010 20:03

According to the email Amazon have sent, my shred DVD will arrive tomorrow! I am so excited. Going to use tins of beans and then buy some weights as soon as.

Well done Lurking! 3 Lbs is very good. What is that in total? In how many weeks?

I might ask for some of these tetra things, I will ask my dealer for some on Tuesday, what flavours do they come in?

Hope everyone is ok. not heard from you in a while!
