Firstly, apologies if this thread is already on here, but I couldn't find it. Last time I did the Cambridge diet I found lots of help and support on Mumsnet and was hoping there would be a thread in place to help me this time ..........

Day one today, had a chocolate shake with lots of ice, a pint of water and am currently drinking a cup of hot water.

Yesterday I was weighed at my consultants house and I was 14 stones 7 and a half pounds. Going on holiday on the 26th September and would love 2 stones off by then. Last year I did this diet for my sisters wedding and lost 28 pounds in as many days. Was very pleased, unfortunatly I am a greedy PIG and cannot control my eating. Am doing to do ss for a month then a week at a time until my hol,as much as I can. Then will follow slimming world principles during and after my holiday, just need this kick start to get me going!

If anyone would like to join me on this thread we can help each other, last year the help I got on here was invaluable!

ah legs. the only part of me i like!

do you find you're loosing weight in weird places? Like i really need to loose weigh around my hips. My bum is small and my legs are skinny; yet my bum is shrinking and i swear my ankles have gotten skinnier! grrr. i want this muffin top GONE so i can wear trousers!

FatGirlThin · 14/08/2010 19:06

I think I'm losing weight from my brain...

Puddingtoast · 14/08/2010 19:20

lol FGT.

I wonder if im still in ketosis, as i've been really hungry and weak the past 2 days. Le sigh.

FatGirlThin · 14/08/2010 19:51

Me too. Feeling exactly the same. It's like the horror of day 4/5 again Think I might buy some of those ketostix so I can check.

lurkingsnurker · 14/08/2010 20:00

AAAAHHHHH.... help me! After feeling smug about how good I was feeling this morning, I now feel rubbish. I was doing the girls' tea, and a cold chicken breast literally jumped out of the fridge, and into my mouth - they're buggers when they do that, aren't they!? Argh! Then, just for good measure, I accidentally sliced too much cheese for DD's cheese on toast - no prizes for guessing where that went.

So am hoping that as it was protien based that it won't knock me out of ketosis. And have just had my soup (veggie - not bad) - another early night for me to avoid the flippin fridge.

So I'll join you ladies on the hungry front. To make matters worse, DH took DD1 to KFC for lunch today - just thinking about it made me dribble - nice Grin

So.... repeat after me... LBD LBD LBD LBD LBD LBD LBD LBD....

FatGirlThin · 14/08/2010 21:28

LBD LBD LBD LBD sausages LBD LBD LBD...

Don't worry about the chicken breast, that will be fine, the cheese I'm not so sure about but it doesn't sound like you had much. You might want to install some kind of food escape prevention net in front of your fridge though to prevent such an accident occuring again.

What I don't understand is WHY I/we feel so hungry. I thought feckin ketosis was supposed to stop this. Honestly today and yesterday I was as hungry as I was pre-ketosis. This 'you aren't hungry when you are in ketosis' is a load of Betty swollocks if you ask me.

Puddingtoast · 14/08/2010 21:38

Amen FGT! What's with the hunger?

There's no euphoria here, only empty tummy pains :(

FatGirlThin · 14/08/2010 22:04

Yes! Fed up with constantly rumbling tummy. It's grim. Grumble, grumble, moan. I'm off to bed, at least when I'm asleep it's only annoying dh Hmm

mumhadenough · 14/08/2010 22:14

Just thought I'd pop in and wave to TD, hope you remember me from our original CD thread.

I've been a Cambridge Consultant for nearly a year now, or a "dealer" if you like, lol. Totally loving it!

Shame to see you back TD as you did so well before. I hope this time you'll be able to keep it off, it took me two attempts to do it right and keep it off too.

Good luck all,if I can help with anything just holler. xxxx

FatGirlThin · 14/08/2010 22:19

Mumhadenough - why are we all so damn hungry!! I've done SS for 12 days and today I did SS+ - 3 shakes and 120g of chicken and 2 pieces of broccoli is what I had. I'm exhausted and constantly starving! Can't imagine how I'll continue this for months on end...HELP!

TrollyDolly1 · 15/08/2010 08:34

Trolly is Ill. Got a bug or some thing I think. Can't put any thing near my mouth. Throw every thing including water back up. Nice I know.

Aw, mumhadenough, course I remember! I'm so pleased your now a consultant (dealer!!!!). I was so stupid before, I lost all that weight, to just pile it all on again. I didn't change my eating habits at all. But this time I will be doing. Going to do lots of exercise as well! Aw, it's so lovely to hear from you!

Hope your all having nice weekend.

OP posts:
FatGirlThin · 15/08/2010 09:38

Oh Trolly, poor you! How miserable. Hope you are feeling better this morning ((((hugs...from a safe distanceWink)))

lurkingsnurker · 15/08/2010 10:38

Oh no Trolly - hope you feel better soon Sad

I am feeling a little bit less hungry this morning - managed to hold off having my porridge until just now; so hopefully will spread them out a bit better - am finding my hunger time is around 5-6pm when doing DD tea, and temptation is really hard, So going to try and wait until mid-late afternoon for my lunchtime shake. Did my ketosis stick this morning, and yesterdays chicken/cheese episode doesn't seem to have affected my ketosis as was still very pink Smile Oh, and my dealer has let me have some ketostix so I didn't have to buy - maybe worth asking?

Ooh - btw, I had Fruits of the Forest shake for lunch yesterday - diluted it quite a lot, and had a few bits of ice. I really enjoyed it - reminded me of raspberry angel delight (I felt about 10 again lol!). Will try the vanilla one today (apparently like ice cream... has anyone had it yet?)

I am actually looking forward to tomorrow as I am finding the weekends really hard - am realising how much of our social life revolved around food (lunch at sisters, taking children out for tea etc etc). Work is just easier!

Have a good day everyone...

FatGirlThin · 15/08/2010 18:46

Hi Lurker

I've tried the vanilla shake but I found it a bit too sickly (bizarre because I have a very sweet tooth) Chocolate and strawberry are my favourites, I haven't tried fruits of the forest though, I'll ask my dealer for a couple to try next week. I'll ask her about ketostix too, I want to make sure changing to SS+ isn't knocking me out of it.
Has anyone else had success with mixamousse? I tried it with the choc shake and it wasn't great. I might try it with strawb next week for a bit of a change (or strawb and vanilla mixed which apparently tastes like angel delight....we'll see!)

I've got my weigh in tomorrow, I'll let you know how I get on and I expect more weigh-in results from you lot too!

Chin up Trolley

Fel1x · 15/08/2010 19:19

Hello again. I posted earlier in the thread asking for more info. Well I started cd today. First day and I've done ok so far. Had porridge for breakfast which was the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted. Could not eat it all. Shake was ok for lunch and soup for dinner which I quite liked!
Am going to swap the porridges tomorrow for more soups.
Am hoping I get a good loss this first week to make it worth the hunger... Weigh in on Friday!

TrollyDolly1 · 15/08/2010 20:11

Hi all, feel abit better now. Have not had anything to "eat", and very little to drink all weekend. Every sip of water has resulted in vomiting. Lovely. I wont have done myself any harm will I? Hope not. FGT do you not think strawberry has a funny after taste?

I'm at work tomorrow, suprisingly I find the flight quite easy, mainly as I have a big mouth and EVERYBODY on that plane knows I'm on CD therefore I have no where to escape and eat, even if I wanted to. I am however, away for 2 nights, instead of 1 this time, am wondering how this will work out. 2 night trips tend to be very socialable and I cant stay in my room and hide like I have done the previous trips. It will be a challenge I suppose.

Lol Fel1x "the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted". You didn't like it then? Cant say I fancy trying it, I'm not a porridge person anyway so think I'll stay clear.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow FGT - I'll log in as soon as I arrive to see your results!

lurkingsnurker · 15/08/2010 20:45

Good luck FGT... fingers crossed for you Smile

Where are you off too TD? Anywhere exotic? Have a safe trip.

I am looking forward to work (most unusual!) as it will be easier to be manically busy and not think about food. My WI is on Weds this week as my dealer is off on her hols for two weeks - agh! She is taking her scales to another dealer though, so I can go get my fix if I need to Wink

Fel1x - well done on getting through day 1. Btw, the porridge is much better blended before putting in the microwave - goes like readybrek then. I really struggled with the texture before doing that - too much like vomit imo

Puddingtoast · 15/08/2010 21:13

nice description of porridge lurker!

Meh would be the name of the day; saw mother in law who pawed me - 'aaah you've lost weight'! UGH. i played it down tho, i was all like 'oh really you think so?' but in my head i was thinking 'oh you ain't see NUFFIN yet!' She's been a huge beehatch lately so anything i can do to improve my morale is good stuff. i haven't told them about the diet as i want to keep it to myself. Is that weird? My hubby knows, and is supportive, but he's the only one i'm telling.

Still feeling hungry though grrr.

Puddingtoast · 15/08/2010 21:14

PS trolly hope you feel better soon! Think of how thin you'll be for the weigh in!

TrollyDolly1 · 15/08/2010 21:33

Thanks ladies! Pudding, it's not weird at all. Last time I did this I avoided people so that when they saw me they were shocked! Lol. Found I am doing the same again this time. If you tell people you get there opinions which are not always nice opinions.

Lurking - do you think you will go to the other dealer, I don't know if I could hold on not knowing, cos of work I can't get to my dealer until Friday! Seems forever away!

Am off to Orlando, packed gym kit, am going to do lots and lots of exercise.

Just a question, are your dealers thin? Mine isn't. Makes me wonder!

TrollyDolly1 · 15/08/2010 21:36

Oh, and last thing before I really really need to go to bed. Is a side effect of ketosis peeling feet? Mine are disgusting. Sorry tmi!

OP posts:
Puddingtoast · 15/08/2010 21:42

My dealer looks like Joanna Lumley :p and no peeling feet here sorry trolly!

mumhadenough · 15/08/2010 22:49

Lol at the peeling feet. More likely a sign of sweaty feet in flip flops at this time of year?

Glad to hear you are feeling a tad better TD. I've been dreadfully ill myself this week with the most horrible cold I've had for years. Still dying tonight, I wish it would just bugger off. I'm actually giving some serious consideration to partaking of some cwp shakes this week just to get some vitamins into me.

FGT - are you REALLY hungry? Is it possible its maybe in your head? I experienced a lot of psychological hunger. I know it was psychological because if I kept myself busy and wasn't thinking about it then I was totally fine. Also are you drinking all your water?

The amount of chicken and veggies you've had (ss+?) sounds perfect and as mostly protein will not knock you out of ketosis.

Try maybe having some tea/coffee/mint tea too, this helped me immensely and kept the hunger at bay. As did the golden veg water flavouring.

As for the tubby consultants - well I'm not stick thin but I have a healthy bmi. At 5ft 2", my bmi is 24.5 so I probably look still quite tubby to others, but I'm 3 1/2 less than I used to be.

I make sure I keep my bmi in the healthy weight range but I know a lot of consultants struggle to do this. We must keep our bmi below 28 and if we slip then Cambridge help us with this. HOwever, try to remember that a lot of consultants have had major weight problems and that doesn't always go away over night. What you should be looking for even if your consultant is overweight, is that she's giving you the support you need, telling you how to do the diet and use the products properly and motivating you. Perhaps she's on medication thats causing her to gain weight - there can be lots of reasons can't there. I'm sure most of us try our best though.

FatGirlThin · 16/08/2010 09:42

Weigh in this morning and I lost 3lbs. It's ok but doesn't feel quite enough in proportion to the misery of the chalk-fest shakes! However I will give myself the lecture I gave Trolly earlier in the week and press on!

Mumhadenough - You are probably right about psychological hunger. Yesterday I was doing loads of gardening and did some shopping in the morning and I felt less hungry than I did on saturday. I am drinking all my water every day.

My consultant is slim. However she told me she's never been very overweight. She said she uses cambridge products on and off 'purely for vanity' - her words! Before I decided on Cambridge I went to see a lighter life consultant, she was obese. Whilst I appreciate what Mumhadenough said, consultants can't be expected to all be a perfect size 10 but this was ridiculous and tbh put me off, she'd lost weight with lighter life but clearly hadn't managed to keep most of it off. I don't think any of us are doing this diet with the intention of piling it all back on (although I know it happens of course)- but to see someone who is 'selling' the diet who has is a really bad message I think.

Trolly - no peeling feet here (get some daktarin, it's brilliant) but the skin on my face is shite and I don't usually get bad skin.

Right, off to have a shower (I love school holidays, we're all in our pjs still!) Smile

3ismylot · 16/08/2010 11:10

Morning all, sorry I havent been around ths weekend I have been working and trying to get the house and kids sorted in between lol

Hope you are feeling better Trolly and that you manage to resist the goodies in orlando (am very jealous as I love florida [envy) lol)

Well done on the loss Fatgirlthin 3lbs is a good loss and well on the average weekly loss for cambridge Smile

Puddingtoast I think its a pretty good idea keeping the diet to yourself becasue that way you manage to avoid the negative people who always tell its a fad etc etc.
I didnt tell anyone to start with but now people are noticing I have told a few people but only if they actually ask how I have lost it lol
(Are you the same puddingtoast on minimins btw??)

Lurkingsnurker I agree that the porridge is better blended I always add a sprinkle of cinnamon too Grin
Good luck for the next couple of weeks with your dealer away lol, I had to go 3 weeks between weigh ins a few weeks ago and was fine but your mind does play tricks saying you could cheat and they wouldnt know lol

Fel1x Good luck for yur 1st week, the first few days can be tough but I am sure you will be fine. It may take some time to work out which flavours you like so enjoy experimenting (or not as the case may be lol)

hello to anyone else I have forgotten Smile

Well I have just been for my week 8 weigh in and have managed to lose 4lbs which I am really happy about as TOTM arrived this morning so wasnt expecting much of a loss Grin I havent got a weigh in now till 30th as I have a interview to get onto a college course next monday and then I am off to Amsterdam on the tuesday so need make sure I am extra good and ignore the little voices telling me to cheat lol.
I have just recieved my dvd of 30 day shred which loads of people are recommending on here so gonna strat doing that to help tone up all the wobbly bits lol.

So heres to another week of onwards and downwards for us all x
