Cambridge Diet

Firstly, apologies if this thread is already on here, but I couldn't find it. Last time I did the Cambridge diet I found lots of help and support on Mumsnet and was hoping there would be a thread in place to help me this time ..........

Day one today, had a chocolate shake with lots of ice, a pint of water and am currently drinking a cup of hot water.

Yesterday I was weighed at my consultants house and I was 14 stones 7 and a half pounds. Going on holiday on the 26th September and would love 2 stones off by then. Last year I did this diet for my sisters wedding and lost 28 pounds in as many days. Was very pleased, unfortunatly I am a greedy PIG and cannot control my eating. Am doing to do ss for a month then a week at a time until my hol,as much as I can. Then will follow slimming world principles during and after my holiday, just need this kick start to get me going!

If anyone would like to join me on this thread we can help each other, last year the help I got on here was invaluable!

Apparently the grieving for food is normal in the second week, and then it gets better. I feel sad that tonight I can't sit and have a nice meal and wine with DH... currently hiding in our sitting room while DH deals with DDs' tea Sad

Stick with it - food isn't going to disappear and even though it doesn't feel like it right now we will eat again!! In fact, we'll be eating again in a matter of weeks, but stones lighter Smile

I am very focused on my LBD for Chrimbo.

Puddingtoast · 13/08/2010 18:44

Say whaaaa?

No bars? Why ever not?!

I've been having the bars since day 4! No wonder you're going bonkers, you must miss solid food!

I hear ya re: grieving for food. I was home alone last night and was soooo dying to order a curry. Glad i didn't!

Exactly Lurker, we shall eat again! And it will be good. And we'll eat the RIGHT AMOUNTS of good food (waggles finger at self).

FatGirlThin · 13/08/2010 18:50

Right. Two decisions made. One, I'm having a bar tonight and Two, I'm going to SS until Monday then I'm going onto SS+.

S'there.

Thanks so much for your messages Smile
I'm off to cook tea for DH and DC then going to hide in lounge and watch Mistresses while they eat it!

LittlePushka · 13/08/2010 19:05

Just lurking about ladies. At least 23 years ago CD used to be available in shops like Boots and Superdrug. Is that still so or do you have to have a,...erm,.."dealer"!

Puddingtoast · 13/08/2010 19:16

Hey Little,
i think you need a dealer these days!

expensive but so far worth it.

3ismylot · 13/08/2010 19:32

It is totally normal at this point to want to pack the diet in but its just the mind playing tricks Grin

Trust me stick it out on pure ss and by the time week 3 arrives it will be 2nd nature and although you will have the odd craving it wont bother you too much.
Remember the more things you add to the diet the longer and harder you will make it Wink

The reason for no bars till week 3 is that they contain higher carbs than the soups and shakes and may bring you out of ketosis in the early days, bu I think if its a case of eating bars or quitting then the odd bar wont hurt!
Have you tried getting the mix a mousse? it gives another dimension to the diet so that you can have the texture of normal food.

This diet isnt a physical diet its a mental one and you need to have alot of battles with yourself to get to goal but t is worth it in the end Smile

Another thing you can do if you need to cure a craving is to buy the mix a mousse and water flavouring and make a cambridge jelly that can be eaten whenever (aslong as you have no more than 1 scoop of mousse a day) but this can trigger picking so be careful!!

They have changed the rukes on cooking packs but in the past we used to play around with packs without any problems and 1 good recipe is to freeze a tetra and then take out 1/2 hour before eating and its like a slow melting icecream Grin

You need to remember that this diet is a shortterm sacrifice for a long term goal and to stop thinking that you cant eat.
Remember that you can eat whatever and whenever you want but it probably means you will never achieve your dream of being slim Wink

You are choosing to address a problem and choosing to take control of bad habits Grin

Sorry if it feels like I am lecturing just trying to help those that are struggling x

TrollyDolly1 · 13/08/2010 19:34

Welcome lurking! Well done for your brilliant weight loss. It's so good stepping on the scales and seeing all the pain is worth it isn't it? I wouldn't worry about the cheating, it certainly has not held your weight loss back..

Pudding, I'm board of the meals to, it's painful!! Lol.

Oh....... I appear to have missed loads of post, so my last one won't make sense!

TrollyDolly1 · 13/08/2010 19:44

3ismylot, you are so wise! Fatgirlthin, sorry your struggling, I'm not loving it either, it's hard hard hard but like 3ismylot says this diet is a mental one. I'm just trying to think that food will always be there but my roll of fat won't be, hopefully.

Oh, I hope your ok, It so hard.

Sending hugs Grin

lurkingsnurker · 13/08/2010 19:44

Thank you Trolly Smile

I am really really struggling this evening, I had some cold chicken in the fridge and couldn't resist a pick as I went past - am hoping it won't mess with the journey into ketosis too much (it was one small mouthful!). And oh boy - was it could to actually chew something Grin

Still - no pain no gain.... just had chicken and mushroom soup with a mountain of black pepper. Will need to go to bed early tonight to avoid temptation methinks.

LittlePushka · 13/08/2010 19:46

Ok,...a dealer then Grin.

Do you have to go and visit said dealer every week. No dealers in my immediate area from the website, it seems. But will continue to trawl about for one. (Boots was very convenient Smile)

lurkingsnurker · 13/08/2010 20:06

Yes - a dealer Grin

You can choose how often you go - but will need to buy enough supplies to last you until your next visit. I don't know about you, but I need that weekly visit to keep motivated otherwise I will defnitely fall off the wagon!

LittlePushka · 13/08/2010 20:16

Thank you lurkingsnurker...Little Pushka goes out to seek some snout! Wink

Well done ladies,... great to see a lovely support thread.

FatGirlThin · 13/08/2010 20:42

Good grief you lot, I leave for a minute and the thread turns into the equiv of a MN crackhouse Shock Grin

So I've tried the malt toffee bar and it was
pants. Gave up after a few bites and tried the cranberry instead. TBH that wasn't much better so after all the excitement (oh what have I become....) of trying bars I'm back to shakes after all!!

Right since I'm struggling to type with a kitten sleeping on my keyboard I'm off. Thanks for the stirring support (especially you 3ismylot) and the hugs Trolly (((shhhh....here's one back)))

lurkingsnurker · 13/08/2010 20:54

Grin FGT

Have been surfing LBDs for inspiration. What do you think of this one?

Or this is beautiful I think

LittlePushka · 13/08/2010 21:16

Love the tiger dress but,...need sleeves though. Not keen to bring me bingo wings along to a party...

FatGirlThin · 13/08/2010 21:22

OOOh, love the first oneSmile What I really want is a day dress that I can wear on Christmas day and for evening meals with friends so not TOOO dressy but still little black dressy - I am a pain the arse, no doubt.

It's really weird, because I've had something to eat (the vile bar) I feel like I've buggered up the diet - which I'm sure I haven't - but it's making me realise I still have the determination, it just got buried under a layer of tongue fur.

Onwards and upwards Smile

lurkingsnurker · 13/08/2010 21:37

But LittleP - you won't have bw's in a short while Wink

FGT - you really haven't buggered it up my love... my first week was pretty terrible (roast lunch on Sunday and meal out on Tuesday (my dealer (Grin) said I was doing it the hard way, as never getting to ketosis!) and I lost 9lbs Smile

And you only had a nibble of what was a horrible bar - you'll still be in ketosis (which is more than me - I feel terrible this evening, could eat a mountain of food!). You should stand tall and proud that you haven't given in! Smile

We should find our perfect Christmas dresses - I need a visual to keep me going!

lurkingsnurker · 13/08/2010 21:40

FGT... what about [http://www.hobbs.co.uk/index.cfm?page=1115&showall=true this one]]?

I love it - can dress up or down I think....

lurkingsnurker · 13/08/2010 21:40

oops, try again:

here

FatGirlThin · 13/08/2010 21:54

Which one on the page Lurker?

FatGirlThin · 13/08/2010 22:24

I love this although poss. not in red. Weird because I usually hate frills.

I like this too
more casual

I LOVE this one. This might be the Christmas one! lush

oh and this one another dottyP

A good day dress but out of stock now here

Weird, all that bling. I am literally the most unblingey person ever. I don't think I own anything with sequins on. I am strictly jeans, converse, layered stuff.

TrollyDolly1 · 14/08/2010 08:54

Lol, just reading the above has given me a new image of my CDC, a dealer, lol. I knew there was some thing not right about her! I'll never look at her the same again. Well done ladies!

OP posts:
lurkingsnurker · 14/08/2010 10:12

OOH FGT, I love love love the red coast one - I might pinch that as my visual, red is a good colour for me Smile . And the grey blingy one is loooovely too.

My trouble is my legs aren't that great - even when thin - so I tend to veer away from shorter styles almost subconciously... wish I could lust after a short dress though!

How are we all today. I feel pretty good - had a sneaky weigh this morning, and I'm another 2lbs down from Thurs eve Smile, and am wondering if now in ketosis as not feeling too hungry - YAY!

FatGirlThin · 14/08/2010 13:26

Lurker - TBH my legs are pretty crap too (calves like a rugby player) but I'm hoping with the magic of opaque tights and 2 1/2 stone lighter I might get away with it. What I think I might do is when I've reached a weight I'm happy with I'm going to go to a John Lewis personal shopper. Tell them what I want and my budget and let them loose!

After the bar debacle yesterday I weighed myself this morning and I didn't lose anything (first day that happened) so I'm back on shakes only today. I stood in a warehouse this morning for 3/4 hr that had a dirty burger van outside with the smell of onions wafting in. Was torturous Smile HOWEVER I now need a belt to hold my jeans up and can pull them down without undoing the top button which probably isn't a great look Grin

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend!
