Hi all. I’m starting Ozempic jabs on Thursday. My prescription is sitting in the fridge ready to take to see the nurse who is going to show me what to do. I’m excited/nervous. Anyone else about to start who wants to join a thread. (I couldn’t see one already for July starters).

Hi @katand2kitsand@plsbekinddelicate. Welcome to the thread. Congratulations on first injection@Quartzfairy
i think my tips for preparing to start would be sorting out your cupboard and fridge. I had a food delivery booked for the day I started with chicken, yogurt, cottage cheese, tinned sardines, eggs. Berries, apples and lots of salad veg. Plus sparkling water as I get bored with plain water all the time. So that I had everything ready and meals planned. I also ate light the night before just in case it affected my stomach.

How’s everyone’s doing today? I haven’t had much appetite, but that could be the heat/ in my head. I’ve eaten healthily, yogurt with berries and nuts for breakfast, tuna salad for lunch. I wasn’t hungry at dinner time so had a couple of oat cakes and some fruit. I did also have a pimms while watching the tennis! I’m not craving chocolate this evening, so even if it is just in my head, it’s working!

goingdownhopefully · 06/07/2026 03:53

Yesterday woke at 3am and was hungry. Eventually got back to sleep and not hungry when I woke. Because of this I did eat a bit more protein today, upped the yogurt and meat and cottage cheese. I agree, my appetite is reduced (apart from at 3am) but it could be the heat. I’m slightly constipated. I’m waking in the night for the loo. Hence why I’m awake now. I’d been having regular chocolate at night before my injection for 2/3 weeks. I get addicted to chocolate if I start eating it, but once I go without for a few days tend not to think of it, unless I have some again. Anyway I switched immediately to not thinking about it once I had the injection.

finding it easy to stick to simple salad and protein based food but again that is helped by the heat.

Hello all, I'm also wondering whether not reaching for chocolate is down to my injection or knowing I've had the injection! Either way I have definitely eaten less than usual this weekend.

I feel like my blood sugar is more stable meaning I'm not desperate to grab snacks every 5 minutes.

We are all sounding very positive.

I am hoping to join you in a few days. I signed up yesterday but they have requested a new photo be sent before approving my application, and I am currently at work and can't do it. I have been overweight pretty much all my life. Went on a calorie counting diet in January and I did lose 10Ibs in time for a holiday, but even though I haven't eaten chocolate, crisps or much bread ... I have gained it all back again.

I have 3 stone to lose, so fingers crossed.

goingdownhopefully · 06/07/2026 15:23

Welcome @Belladog1. Hope you get sorted soon.

I’ve not felt hungry today, but that may also be the heat. The only thing I really feel like eating is fruit, but I’m going to have some salmon and salad for dinner to try and get some protein in.

I’m not getting any sugar cravings. I usually get a dip in the afternoon when I want to eat biscuits or chocolate but I’ve not had that at all!

CrabPasteSarnie · 06/07/2026 19:23

Can I join please, I've had my Wegovy in the fridge for a couple of weeks but I have been busy so haven't started yet. I want to inject on a Thursday night as I don't work on a Friday and I'm a bit worried about the side effects. So this Thursday it is! I haven't told anyone I'm doing this - we'll see how it goes!

katand2kits · 06/07/2026 19:51

Hello everyone, just done my second injection today. Doing it a couple of days early so I can have Monday as my regular day. It's going OK, im down a kilo since I started so I'm happy with that. Not as much suppression as I used to have on MJ, but hopefully it will increase.

TeddySpaghetti · 06/07/2026 19:57

Evening all, I'm due my second dose this evening but I'm feeling a bit nauseous and have very little appetite. Just been to the gym and will have a light dinner.

I've lost 3lbs but also an inch off my waist and hips so it's a good start.

Nutsabouttopic · 06/07/2026 23:15

Hi all, I had my first Ozempic jab on Friday. Im not telling anyone I'm on it because I don't want to hear other people's advice. I am very overweight, I need to lose a few stone. My family all are slim and don't understand that its not easy to lose weight. Im quite restricted in that I need two knee and one hip replacement as a result of an accident a few years ago. I do try and go swimming a few times a week. Im hoping that losing weight will give me better mobility.
I felt quite sick and sore over the weekend but today I'm just tired so hopefully the ozempic is settling in. Good luck to everyone starting

Quartzfairy · 07/07/2026 07:31

Hi @Nutsabouttopicsorry you’re feeling unwell. Hopefully that will ease off once your body gets used to the medication. I’ve not told anyone, other than my partner who is on it too, that I’m on Wegovy either. I don’t need anyone’s unsolicited advice or opinions! I hope you feel better today.

goingdownhopefully · 07/07/2026 08:07

Hi @Nutsabouttopic. Nice to meet you. I also have a lot of weight to loose, and have restricted ability to exercise as well. My main hope from this is to be more comfortable and active. Hope you’re feeling better as the week goes on.

Please can I ask a few questions from people who have already started.

I am due to receive my first pack in the next day or two. I am a little worried about the cool packs as it might well be left in my porch for 4hrs in this heat!! Are they well cooled or am I doomed?

Has anyone had any initial side effects and what are they? My boss said he took the jabs for only 2 months and then had to come off it. The sulphur burps were incredible and he had to go outside to belch as if he did it in the house he would clear the room. But the main thing for him was sitting on the loo most nights at 3am as it really effected his gut. I just would like to be prepared.

Finally, I am compiling an online shopping list from Tesco. I already ate loads of fruit and veggies, and I have added protein like chicken, protein bagels, eggs and salmon. Any other recommendations?

I would so love to get rid of the 'apron' that I have around my lower abdomen. It arrived in perimenopause and I can't wear anything as its all I see. I live in loose floaty outfits as I'm so ashamed. I really hope it reduces it's size. Fingers crossed.

goingdownhopefully · 07/07/2026 14:37

I’ve had no negative side effects so far, but I think I’m starting to become a little constipated. No burps or anything like that. I have reduced appetite and some occasional mild nausea.
re protein I’ve been buying (and eating) Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, cannellini beans/chick peas, peanut butter, tuna and tinned sardines.

sorry I don’t know about delivery as I collect from local pharmacy.

Hello Belladog1 mine didn't come with a cooling pack so I'm not sure about that.

I haven't had any side effects (touch wood!) Just feeling far less hungry which is perfect. My sugar levels feel more stable so I'm not constantly topping myself up with rubbish. Also I can only manage smaller portions at meal times. My eyes need to catch up with my belly so I put less on my plate!

Your shopping list sounds good, I find a high fibre cereal like saltana bran useful to keep things moving (sorry) and vitamins are a good idea.

Hope you find it suits you!

Hangryfastjo · 07/07/2026 15:48

Hello All wondering if I can join. I've just taken my first jab of wegovy.

I started MJ last february and was on it until the start of march this year. I lost 4 stone. I am eating better, go to the gym 5 times a week and walk much more.
My issue was the food noise getting louder and louder. I have only put on 3-4lb, but I felt like i need to manage the noise and a break from it. Its not a long term return, but if its something I have to do, then im willing to do that.
Im trying wegovy as its cheaper and not really the weightloss im chasing, but because it's wegovy it feels completely new

I’ve not had any side effects really. I feel a bit tired and have a bit of a headache today, but I always feeling tired and having headaches so I can’t say this is def due to the medication!

Im not sure about the ice pack.

Food-wise, I’m focusing on protein and fibres so salmon, tuna, bagged salad leaves, fruit and veg. I also like Dr Kvarg protein crackers, baby bel lights, protein yogurts. I’ve not really felt hungry at all since I injected in Saturday (the heat may be contributing to this) I’m trying to make sure that the food I do eat is healthy.

Thank you very much to the people who answered my questions. I'm receiving my delivery tomorrow and I've been obsessed with watching YouTube videos!!

Do you all still enjoy food though? At home I eat well, but i do love a dinner out once a month and a good pudding.

I'm desperate to get rid of the food noise. I'm constantly thinking about food. I have breakfast and I'm planning lunch. I'm also someone that can't stop. If I have biscuits in the house (I try not to) i can't just have two. Drives me potty. But I've been like it since childhood. Food is my favourite thing and I have no restraint.

I'll add sultana bran to my shopping list. Just trying to decide what day to start. I think Saturday.

goingdownhopefully · 07/07/2026 20:48

Hi@Hangryfastjo. Welcome. @Belladog1. I’m five days in and still enjoying my food. But satisfied by smaller portions. I think the food noise is less. I’m thinking about food quite a bit to ensure I plan and eat sensibly, but I’m not obsessing with foods that I fancy and can’t stop thinking about.

OP posts:
Sugaraddled · 07/07/2026 22:30

I do still enjoy my food at meals but am amazed to find it can make it through an afternoon without snacking!

goingdownhopefully · 08/07/2026 12:53

Went for my weekly weigh on my old unreliable scales, last week it was on doctors scales. According to my scales I’ve put on a stone. Don’t feel that is at all likely so will try and find a better surface for them, or not weigh.
due to practical reasons I want to change my injection day to Wednesday, so have injected my second dose today, a day early. (My daughter did it for me. Still not confident enough to do it myself. I will have to soon. It doesn’t hurt at all so I do need to get on with it).

OP posts:
Sugaraddled · 08/07/2026 13:04

Oh no how upsetting! I hope you know it is likely to be due to using different scales.

It's frustrating that we don't have a more accurate way of measuring progress except for taking body measurements but they take ages to change.

Well done for carrying on, you will win!!!

Quartzfairy · 08/07/2026 19:59

That’s so frustrating @goingdownhopefully I’m sure the scales must be inaccurate, I can’t imagine you’ve put on a stone in a week! Maybe invest in a new set of scales so you can feel confident they’re reasonably accurate. I’ve also take measurements of my bust, waist and hips so I can compare each week.
