Hi all. I’m starting Ozempic jabs on Thursday. My prescription is sitting in the fridge ready to take to see the nurse who is going to show me what to do. I’m excited/nervous. Anyone else about to start who wants to join a thread. (I couldn’t see one already for July starters).

Hopefully there will be people due to start this week who might see this thread and join. Hope everything goes ok with your appointment tomorrow @goingdownhopefully!

TeddySpaghetti · 01/07/2026 18:08

Hello! I started this week (Monday). So far, I feel fine. Appetite suppressed but a tiny bit constipated.

goingdownhopefully · 01/07/2026 18:14

Thank you @SilenceInside

Hi @TeddySpaghetti. That sounds good. I’ll let you know how I get on after I jab tomorrow. (Hate needles, but I’m not turning back now).

First wegovy jab Tuesday lunchtime.
Have felt super tired this afternoon with a headache but manageable. Weirdly pleased as am hoping it could mean it is in my system and will have impact!
The actual jab wasnt too bad, although felt a bit cackhanded! Haven't told anyone I have started but have been thinking about it for a while. Had a tough year - operation, family stuff and the weight has kept creeping on. I think for me its portion sizes and snacking. Hopefully the fact that I am paying for the privilege will help me develop some more willpower.
Nice to meet you and good luck!

goingdownhopefully · 01/07/2026 20:10

Hi@Remindmeofababe nice to meet you too. Hopefully we can all support each other. I don’t know anyone in real life doing this.

Good luck for your injection tomorrow @goingdownhopefully . Sending positive vibes your way.
Headache and nausea has abated for now. Fingers crossed that was it!

Quartzfairy · 02/07/2026 07:51

I’m starting Wegovy tomorrow. I’ve decided to do my first injection tomorrow evening so if I have side effects, it’ll be over the weekend and I won’t be at work. I’m a bit nervous about how it’ll make me feel and also whether it’ll even work as I’ve heard Wegovy is less effective for some people than Monjaro. I thought I’d try it because it’s cheaper but not sure if that was the right decision.

goingdownhopefully · 02/07/2026 10:53

Hi Quarzfairy. I’ve been given oxempic on prescription. It doesn’t go as high a dose as Wegovy (though the same thing) as it’s primarily prescribed for T2. But was prescribed for me for weight loss (I have t2 as well). So I’m worried that I won’t end up with a strong enough dose to maintain weight loss and also whether it will work at all compared to MJ. I’m injecting later today. I’m not too worried about the side effects as nothing can be worse than being this overweight, but I’m worried about injecting. I’ve come from, no way could I ever do that, to I’m doing it in a couple of hours.

Right so I’ve done the first injection. Didn’t feel a thing. So now it’s wait and see.

I've got my first pen in the fridge ready to dose after night out tomorrow night. It's wegovy but not the ozempic type. Is it OK to join this thread OP? Completely respect it if you'd rather this one was for Olympic only

goingdownhopefully · 03/07/2026 10:12

No of course it’s fine for you to join. I think it’s only me on ozempic. Wegovy is more common I think. But my understanding is that the effects are similar,(same active ingredient) though Wegovy can be dispensed at a higher dose. I hope I’ve got that right. I’m reading as much as I can.

Thank you 😊 hopefully we can all support each other

goingdownhopefully · 03/07/2026 11:11

Yes. Let us know how you get on tomorrow. I’m not noticing anything different so far but that’s not suppressing. I’m trying to eat as I intend to go on. High protein, carbs mainly from veg/wholegrain and moderate healthy fat. And I’ve upped my water. I have a lot of weight to lose.

Remindmeofababe · 03/07/2026 21:16

@Quartzfairy @goingdownhopefully hope your injections have gone?
Headache was back again today for me but has eased off.
Have been trying to drink plenty of water, not sure i have noticed any change to appetite yet. I am trying to not expect instant results! Difficult though.
Is your injection tomorrow @Sugaraddled ? Good luck if so!

goingdownhopefully · 03/07/2026 22:32

No negative side effects so far. I’ve eaten sensibly and been satisfied, but that’s often the way for me at the start of a diet. I’m making sure I drink lots, which is easier at this time of year.

Sugaraddled · 03/07/2026 23:35

Thanks! I got back from my evening out (I wasn't drinking), screwed up my courage and just did it!

It was easier than I expected, didn't even feel a scratch 😁

Fingers crossed it works for me, I've been trying to diet my entire adult life.

Good luck to you all x

TeddySpaghetti · 04/07/2026 09:06

Morning. My first jab was Monday evening. The suppression is still strong this morning (Saturday). I've eaten regularly but smaller amounts. No snacking. I had to force myself to eat last night and ended up buying some protein drink, Huel(?) on the go. Protein drinks are new to me and are not an item I'd usually seek in the food aisle. I'm very focussed on getting enough protein. Any tips there are very welcome. I've upped my water intake and drinking less coffee. Not much interest in booze either.

I have two stone to lose partly due to menopause, bad eating habits and medications. I have piled on the weight over the last three to four years although I am very active. I lift weights 2 or 3 times a week and coastal row 2 or 3 times a week. (None of this had any positive impact on the scales though!) I was never a sporty type when I was younger but, as I've got older and now compete, I've become frustrated with being overweight. I hate how it hinders my performance.

I don't want to be on these long term and want to stay as low a dose as possible whilst I reset my eating habits. I'd be interested in others long term strategy.

goingdownhopefully · 04/07/2026 11:58

good morning all. Glad you’re doing well @TeddySpaghetti

I felt slightly nauseous this morning, certainly not hungry. I also find it quite hard to get in enough protein, which I’m also trying to concentrate on. So instead of skipping breakfast which was my first thought, I ate a hundred g of Greek yogurt with a few raspberries. Also trying to keep up my fluids but not wanting to drink either this morning so sipping water and mint tea, to keep on top of it.
my plan for lunch was a small baked sweet potato with cottage cheese, a few olives and cherry tomatoes and some basil (because I have loads). However I’m debating skipping the sweet potato. Though I’m starting to feel a little bit hungry now. I soaked some cannellini beans last night to cook today and have in the fridge as a protein bulk. Also need to hard boil some eggs. Tonight’s dinner plan is chicken with a big mixed salad.

anyone else with protein ideas. I’ve never cooked with Soya, and don’t want to rely too much on cheese which is easy to fall back on?

OP posts:
TeddySpaghetti · 04/07/2026 15:54

Fish, chicken, yoghurt are my main proteins. Cheese too. I cant eat eggs so that's a bit limiting.

Quartzfairy · 04/07/2026 20:06

I’ve just done my first injection. I put it off last night as I’m on my period and was worried it would make me feel worse. All day my brain has been looping, I go through this cycle of feeling unhappy with how I look/ worrying about the side effects/wanting to buy chocolate so I decided I just need to stop putting it off and have just done it. I’m hoping it’ll stop the evening sugar cravings, I eat pretty well all day and exercise, then ruin it all by eating 2 bars of chocolate 🤣

@goingdownhopefully protein ideas - I don’t eat meat, so my go to’s are salmon, canned tuna, protein yogurts, protein bagels, baby bel lights and the occasional protein bar. I’ve not found a protein powder that doesn’t upset my stomach but most people seem to get on well with them.

katand2kits · 04/07/2026 20:48

Hi, I started on Wednesday. I did MJ previously, but had to stop for a while and the price became an issue. After putting a few kilos back on, im now giving wegovy a go. A bit of nausea so far but hoping it will settle down soon.

Remindmeofababe · 04/07/2026 21:54

Well done @Quartzfairy on your first jab and totally get how you feel about wanting to change things but then how difficult it is to sustain the changes.

Welcome @katand2kits I have had a bit of nausea too and a headache (jabbed in Tuesday- as soon as it arrived!) But nott too bad. Haven't made the best choices today. Bit too carb heavy and not enough movement. Oh and 2 glasses of wine!

Remindmeofababe · 04/07/2026 21:56

@goingdownhopefully in terms of protein. Yoghurt - full fat. Lots of beans ans pulses. I eat meat so am not restricted in that regard. I have been taking a collagen powder for the t last 3 months so that gives me a headstart on protein.

plsbekinddelicate · 04/07/2026 22:04

My prescription was authorised earlier today so just waiting for delivery. I’m hoping to start it on Friday. Anyone already on it do you have any tips for between now and then to be in the best position to start?
